I haven't been to the Bronx since I was a kid growing up in New York 30 years ago. My son enjoyed it to the fullest. We were lucky to go during the week when it was pretty slow.

I was told that the summer is the best time to visit the Bronx Zoo, before it get too cold. I don t know if that is true, since this is the first time I am visiting the zoo, and it is the end of August, but I must say that I had an amazing experience. The zoo is beautiful. And animals like animals: amazing.
good zoo. the experience package is beneficial when its hot and its over die to the shuttle transportation
Aboustly Beautiful long lines high prices only fault.
Way to pricey, half food places were closed as well as alot of exhibits. You'd think with all that, the price of parking and admission would go down. Also food and beverages are insanely over priced.
You're going tto enjoy the spectacle of the people.
The entire family enjoy the scenery and seen all the wildlife in their somewhat natural habitat.
Very large and expansive zoo, one of the largest. No need to dress stiffly, wear your most comfy shoes because there's a lot to see and explore. Lots of animals of all kinds. One of my favourites turned out to be the primate exhibit. You'll know you're there miles before you get there due to the Howler Monkeys...well they "howl", a lot, and very loud. The camel rides are a crowd favourite and kids love them (adults too). The Africa plains exhibit is just splendid. All in all, it was an experience to cherish. A repeat visit is in the offing.
It's a large zoo with alot of walking so wear some comfy shoes. It was great for the kids.
Love this place!! Just the thought of this utopia sits in the middle of a huge city is unbelievable. One of my favorite places in the world. Inside the zoo, there's an exhibit called 'Jungle World'..this is my most favorite part of the zoo. I can't go to the bronx zoo without visiting 'jungle world'. Been here with my kid numerous times. Also, have taken groups of inner city kids here. Love it!!
The zoo has been updated and always has extra events happening. We have gone for boo at the zoo and the dinosaur exhibit. Both were excellent!
Huge place to visit. Plan to be there early even though its highly unlikely that you will cover all in a day. Better to buy a membership and visit twice.
Great time but thanks to that lady you can't ride the Lions anymore
Love taking my grandson there!. Have been going to this zoo since I was a little girl and took my children there when they were young as well. Lots to see and do! But wear comfy shoes there's alot of walking!
I bought a pass for all the zoos so checked out the Bronx zoo. Half of the exhibits required more money to enter ... wish i had known before buying a seasons pass. Buyer beware i guess.
I recommend you dress very warm.
It was nice & the kids enjoyed.
Great place to visit, see wildlife and learn about Conservation..
The most Gorgeous Day with my Love muffins. The Bronx Zoo is still a beautiful place to visit. Holiday Lights was breathtaking
Left the wife home and completed the whole zoo with the kids. Excellent and don't miss the gorilla exhibit. There is an additional fee but definitely worth the price. I believe the zoo is free on Wednesdays
Boo at the Zoo was lovely. As always, the Monorail was enjoyable but moreso with a guide dressed as a pirate who joked a bit and showed genuine care for the animals and his job.
One of my absolute favorite places on the planet! It's hard to believe you're in the middle of the Bronx. It's a great place to visit!
One of our must do family outing for the summer...every year
Animals were beautiful but the place was half closed
We visited on a Wednesday and i thought that entry is free on this day but it was not. But they do have discounted tickets for this day which includes the main attractions like the Congo gorilla forest, asian safari in the monorail etc. Great place to visit with children and to be enjoyed by all
It was our first visit and we enjoyed the atmosphere, the animals and just overall experience. We will be coming back when we have a little one with us.
As much as i hate, and as much as it is difficult for me to see wild animals in captivity, i must say that the Bronx Zoo is a great place to visit to see the wild animals from close. and as bad as it may sound, they make you feel like they give the animals the best home they can get which is not the wild.
The place is very clean, the staff are very friendly, and they have a crazy diversity of animals there.
I took my young nephew there, and i could tell that from that day, i am he's favorite uncle ;)
Always a great day at the Bronx Zoo. And, you're contributing to a good cause.
Quiet in the winter, but most of the exhibits are closed. It's cool getting a more intimate experience when there are so few people.
As far as Zoo's go Bronx Zoo is up there. They clearly take animal welfare very seriously and the enclosures are nice and big. Check out the gorillas
We live in Australia and we watch Bronx Zoo on TV. (animal planet)
We love it. Wish we were there.
It s one of the best zoos in the world! I live everything about this place
Beautiful zoo, but realize that there is a free entry day on Wednesday!! If you present then with a purchased ticket on Wednesday, they will use the fees for their research budget, but they didn't explain that till I talked to management! If they were honest about this practice, I'd give them 5 starts
It was disappointing as there should have been many more lights, too expensive for poor budgeting in lighting
Understandable routes to animals. Pleasant environment for kids. A little pricey for food.
The zoo itself was nice. The zoo fees are to expensive. Sad that they don't have a huge discounts for military retirees, my husband served 24 years, 3 years (911, Afghanistan, Iraq war and only got a 10% discount. The appreciation for protecting this country deserves alot more respect.
Has alot of animals, plus on Wednesdays it's free to go in. Great place for taking the kids out to see different kind of animals.
Its the 4th largest zoo in the world. I had my kids there last spring and they had a blast it was beautiful.loved seeing the tigers and the grizzly bears. My son was 6 years old and he kept running to see all the animals.
An absolutely wonderful experience with my family and friends! ! Wednesdays general admission is free. I Love the Boogie Down Bronx Zany Zootopia !!
Great zoo, number 2 in the country in my opinion with San Diego taking the top spot. It's free on Wednesdays.
Love going to the zoo...wish they would get more exotic animals though...thr exotic animals starting to look old, tired and bored
Get your sneakers on and get ready to enjoy a beautiful day at the Zoo discovering and learning about animals and nature. A must for the whole family!
Be prepared to do alot of walking! Sometimes certain animals hide and its hard to see them all the time. Still guaranteed good time for the kids.
My first visit to the zoo and I was impressed. I generally don't visit zoos but the quality of care and relative spacial freedom was apparent. We did visit on a very hot day so that did mean that a lot of animals were sensibly seeking shade and not always visible. Never did see the tiger! I would recommend the Total Experience ticket option as that gives you entry into all the main exhibitions and things like the shuttle and the mono rail. I think a general admission ticket would be too limiting and having to pay extra to enter things like the butterfly house and rainforest area would soon as up to more that the experience ticket. All in all highly recommended.
Really great time with family. Something for everyone to enjoy.
Great place for an outting. Be sure to take advantage of students/Healthcare discounts!
Clean. The directing of cars for parking could have been better. Just seemed chaotic.
Things are definitely scaled back due to COVID-19 pandemic, but staff seemed diligent in keeping things safe and ensuring masks were worn. Prices are slightly reduced most likely because all indoor enclosures and habitats are closed. Still worth a day trip with the kids and kids at heart!
Great Day at the Zoo. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. The settings and displays make it apear the animals are in their natural environment. We also enjoyed meeting and conversing with Kathleen who we "know" from seeing her on the Animal Planet show "The Zoo".
Always lots to do. The membership extends to other NYC zoos as well. Highly recommended!
I've always thought that it is special because it is not just a zoo, but it is a zoo in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world!!! And I just found out on this last visit that it is second only, in size of zoos in all of the United States, to the San Diego Zoo!!!
Plus they have always had a wide variety of land, sea, and air animals!!! I love that they support various wildlife charities!!! I've just always loved the zoo and the city that it's in!!! I will always make the Bronx Zoo a must on our travel itinerary when my family and I visit New York, New York!!!!
Beautiful zoo in Bronx New York. I must say that visiting a zoo and see amazing animals in New York City is kind of cool. You can see that the animals are well treated, and the facility is well maintained.
Great experience!
The zoo was filled with many animals, as well as much natural beauty. It was easy to navigate and the staff was very hospitable. Overall, its a great place to visit with your family.
My son had a class field trip here. He had so much fun. We didn't see everything but we will be back.
I used to live in the Bronx. School trips here all the time.
It's alright I guess.. to see something like the gorillas & monkeys you need to pay 210$ which is crazy.. lots of walking so bring sneakers.
It is the best conservation park I have ever been to. Love it! It only needs a panda bear to be extra perfect. Love the wild dogs, the snow leopards, the birds of prey and the tigers and gorillas and love the children s zoo! You can t see it all in one day but that is a good thing if you are a New Yorker!
Bronx zoo experience is always the best u can have. The best zoo you can visit with your family.Kids love this zoo a lot.
The Bronx Zoo is massive. I need to go back as there was way more to do and see here than there was time to accomplish in only one visit. Nicely laid out as well - plenty of space for both the animals and the guests.
I have been waiting to write a review on the Bronx zoo. Unlike the traditional zoos that are cramped for room and space for animals, this zoo is almost like a mini sanctuary with places set so well to suit the animals' habitat. More than that, the variety of animals makes this zoo very very special. You have animals and birds almost from every corner of the world. The World of Birds section is a definite eye catcher. The sea lion feeding, penguin feeding, etc etc were really special. Being a wildlife lover, I got the membership which allows me to visit multiple times throughout the year. (along with 4 other zoos). 5 stars for this magnificent place.. Kudos to the animal keepers and management.
This place is awesome the only complaint I have is that the guy charged me for na exclusive pack and didnt tell me about it when I just wanted a general admissions ticket.... Costed me an extra $15 each!
Lots to see and do here. Only drawback is that much of the cool stuff to see and do costs extra.
It was way too crowded, noisy, no room to move about, long waiting time to get into parking lot, bathrooms, aquarium display walkway, train ride and food areas.
However, the displays were incredibly beautiful and well designed but difficult to get good views and photos due to extremely large crowds.
barely anyone had a mask on- the staff didn't reinforce the masks as much as they should, almost none of the hand sanitizer dispensers were filled- felt like they were only pretending to take precautions. :(
Great visit for us. Came on the free wednesday. Get here before it opens on the free day to avoid the massive lines later.
Great time. I go to the zoo when the kids are in school. Less crowd.
The kids loved it. One of the biggest zoo I have ever seen.
Had an amazing time here. The staff was helpful and friendly. The park was well sanitized and I loved seeing all the animals.
The Bronx Zoo will amaze you. You can wander around for hours and you will completely forget that you are in the middle of the Bronx. Definitely try out Jungleworld and try to catch the feedings. The keepers are very nice and will answer all your questions.
Went with a 9yr old a 7yr old and 2yr olds and a baby and we all a great time, there was something for everyone. My only thing is it's too expensive so we did bring our own lunch and snacks
Always love visiting the zoo. I recommend getting the yearly membership. It pays for itself in one visit. Wednesdays are not the greatest time to visit. Many of the exhibits are closed ,the monorail also.
Large and impressive zoo, be ready for a lot of walking to see it all.
It is avery awesome place. But you have get the ticket from the machines before getting on the bus
Didn't give 5 stars just because the zoo has limited number of water fountain for refilling my water bottles. The fountains are closed in winter.
