I came here as a beginner runner looking for supportive shoes because I was struggling with shin splints and blisters. I was helped by a young gentleman named Andrew who was amazing. He clearly knew what he was doing and recommended a great pair of shoes, insoles, and socks. There was no pressure to buy add-ons or more expensive items and the customer service was impeccable!

Needed some new running shoes as my current ones hurt my feet everytime I went out. Super friendly and helpful staff, the lady who looked after us (unfortunately didn't catch her name, but if she sees this we are the couple from Sweden). Very knowledgeable and understanding of my needs, in fact so much so both me and the husband bought a new pair . We even went out on our first run the same day and it's like we were brand new runners. Sadly only visiting Boulder for a few weeks else I imagine we would be buying from there more often!!

Needed to get good shoes fast. I have a back injury so its important to get the right ones. Got half-informed service. Ended up with a good pair of asics that do the job. They had a good selection, and even shoes in my size, but I ended up with one of those pink/purple shoes that they were stuck with.

My high schooler needed new shoes for cross country. Had excellent service from a really knowledgeable staff person. She helped fit him, made sure his stride was good on the treadmill, and actually made him happy with his selection- not easy with a teen boy!

They will help you correct problems like pronation or a bad stride. The walking/running machine has a video on your feet so you can slow down the video and study your habits. Many things can be corrected at this store. Take along the arch supports you've been using and find out if they're really the right thing for your stride.

This is the best running store I'm aware of. I've tried a couple others (including some of BRC's other locations) and I always come back to this store even though it's an hour drive for me. The other places have employees. This place has runners who are passionate about it, friendly and genuinely helpful.

This review is for their website. Ordered a pair of running shoes from their sale, when I received them they were the wrong color, contacted customer service and they set up a return. Problem with their policy is that they won't sent out new ones until they receive return back. Problem is that's a 2-week turnaround for me on the east coast, if it's your issue send out overnight or wait until you see UPS tracking at least. Their tech support is non existent and is not very helpful. Cmon Man!!!

Great running shoe store with friendly staff. They had every option for my favorite brand, Altra, At the lowest prices. I bought a pair and when I took it home it was causing a pain on one of my feet (on top of all places) I think it was defective sewing. They exchanged it for another pair with no problem. Awesome place!

I used to love Boulder Running company. The employees actually new a lot about fitting you for running shoes, and I got great individualized service. Since being bought out, they have gone totally downhill. The staff turnover seems higher, employees feel less knowledgeable, and I get poor service. Using up my rewards points on a new pair of shoes and then I am completely done with BRC. So sad.

SHAWN provided, hands down, THE BEST running shoe store experience I've ever had. I feel super fortunate that he happened to be by the front door when I walked in. I came in to try on some less-minimal-style shoes than I'm accustomed to because of lingering overuse symptoms in my toes and extensors. He assisted me for well over an hour trying on myriad shoes and explaining salient points on each, as well as referring me to new running resources, books and recovery methods. He's a USATF-certified coach and I'm sure had I encountered him somewhere other than a running store, his services and guidance would have cost an arm and a leg. He was patient, well-listened, detail-oriented, knowledgeable, kind, caring, and absolutely cool as a fan. Shawn is the guy. Big thank you to Shawn for bringing me closer to my running and in a more sustainable way.

This is the place in Boulder to get the perfect fit shoes

I m a trail runner and I had worn down my favorite Montrail running shoes and needed a new pair, but I wanted the best quality so I went to Boulder Running Company and fell in love with the place! The customer service was great, the guy was so knowledgeable and polite. He did a video gait analysis on my feet and picked out the Montrail pair that suited me with the most comfort. Now I m trail running in the most comfort I have ever felt. I certainly recommend Boulder Running Company.

Helped me find shoes that fit well, they're also really friendly and professional

I could not find anywhere to try on shoes I could wear for cross fit. I didn't want to purchase online. I needed to try them on to get the right fit. This store is a running store so I want too sure what I'd find. They had a decent selection of shoes and they carried all sizes! I could actually try on shoes and get ones that fit me best. Thank you!

I am torn in writing this review because the positive experiences I have had in this store have been very positive, but the negative experiences have been very negative.

On the positive, the retail associates are mostly very friendly and excited to help.

However, on my last visit I was looking for the New Balance 1500T2. The Manager told me that they only had one left, and even though the pair in stock was 2 sizes too big for me, he suggested that it would "..probably be ok."

When I mentioned that it would "probably not be ok" and that I was concerned that a serious running store would recommend an unsafe product he began laughing at me.

My second negative experience happened today with who I can only assume is the same "laughing manager." I purchased a Garmin Fenix 6X from the store after it first came out and have had nothing but problems with it since purchase (not the stores fault.)

In working with Garmin technical support, I was issued a return authorization, and asked to return to the point of purchase with the watch and RA so that they retailer could replace the product and process the return back to Garmin.

When I presented this information to the store manager he laughed at me and said "..we don't do that.."; he again laughed at me when I suggested he contact his Garmin rep for clarification because "..we don't have a Garmin rep."

I hate to say it because I have had some great experiences at this store, but because of "laughing manager", I will not be back.

They have a good selection of running shoes and apparel as well as a large selection of accessories. The staff are generally runners that are knowledgeable and helpful about the products they sell. They have a treadmill in store so you can try out the shoes. They know how to fit you properly and which shoes are suitable for the way you run or walk and your width needs. Prices are in line with anywhere I've bought running gear and I have gotten some good sales deals. They have a loyalty program that earns you 10% of your purchases on the Jack Rabbit web site. I believe it can be applied in store as well.

Great place to start if you are thinking about taking up running,

Three salespeople joked and watched from across the store as my daughter and I looked at shoes for fifteen minutes. When I approached them they seemed offended that I was interrupting them. Finally, the store manager asked if we needed help. He was very helpful. Very strange. Seems like the store is staffed with runners. NOT sales people.

Don't shop here. They weren't interested in talking to me about what kind of sports I do, what I was looking for in a shoe, any problems with my feet, etc. The salesperson just asked me my size and when I started to describe the idiosyncrasies of my feet, he walked away. Brought two pairs of shoes back and left again. No other customers were there so it wasn't like he was helping someone else. Obviously, he hates his job and needs to do something else. Lousy service, lousy store.

They helped me try on many pairs of shoes before I found the right one. They were attentive and helpful.

I have been using boulder running company for at least ten years. I bought new shoes at BRC about two months ago and soon after developed shin splits and a possible stress fracture. I went back in to the store to see if they could help fix the situation but all they offered was to sell me another pair of shoes. I really liked BRC but I think I am done spending my money there.

Extremely disappointed. I have gone here for years and had great service, but I went in yesterday and had a condescending and unhelpful sales associate. After showing him my shoes with wear patterns, explaining that both road and mountain shoes have worked for my races in the past, telling him my ultra schedule for the summer, and asking to try on a wide variety of shoes (trail, road, stiff, flexible) just to see what worked, he brought out 3 pairs (2 were the wrong size). I tried them on and asked if there were others I could try. He just listed ~10 general categories of shoes ("we have flexible trail, stiff road,...") and then literally said, "Listen, I can't help you unless you tell me what you want." I had wanted a salesperson who would make suggestions and bring out a variety of shoes based on the large amount of information I had just given! The knowledgeable and helpful sales staff is generally why people come here and why I have in the past (with great past results); is some quality control in order?

The staff here are outstanding. They are helpful, patient, happy and most importantly knowledgeable. I'll be coming back here for all my running needs.

I've been struggling to find a new stability shoe for a few months, but an employee here listened carefully to the issues I'd been having with other shoes and found my dream shoe on the first try!

These guys and gals are awesome. Lots of experience in the running industry and great knowledge of what a good shoe is for you. In-N-Out with a perfect pair of shoes and a good sale!

Perhaps it was the end of the day (on Memorial Day weekend), but the checkout staff were not particularly pleasant when questioned about a sale price that did not ring up as advertised on a tent table with just that model of shoe. They did honor the price after taking a photo and asking someone else behind the counter; however, there was no sense that they were happy to help out a customer. As a customer of many years, having brought family members here for the right fit, I am questioning the sense of supporting a store that does not value customer service. Seems easier to use Amazon!

We were short on the details of the shoe we needed to buy as a gift. We knew it was a "Saucony PowerGrid". Turns out PowerGrid soles have been replaced by EverRun soles, and there are a bunch of Saucony shoes with this sole. We didn't know which one we needed. Tim helped us pick the right one by zooming in on some of our pictures of the gift recipient wearing the same type of shoes. Thanks Tim

Arrived to 4 employees behind the counter, no one in line. Looked at shoes for 5 minutes with no acknowledgment at all. So, I left. Lame store. I can go elsewhere and be treated way better.

When I arrived at the store I was greeted by an associate named Mike. When I told him I was looking for new running shoes he was very patient and helpful. He asked lots of good questions to find out my needs, and recommended shoes that he thought would fit what I was looking for. He brought out 5 sets of shoes and explained every pair in a way I could understand. He took his time and let me try as many pairs on as I wanted, even letting me run on the treadmill multiple times and using his iPad to analyze each shoe and help me pick the best pair. He assisted me for over an hour before I finally chose the shoe I wanted. After my first run in my new shoes I can t be happier, even set a PR! I will definitely be returning as this was one of the most positive customer service experiences I have had.

The associates spend all the time that is required to ensure that one gets the shoe (and insert) that is right for each person. It's the kind of customer service that one doesn't receive very often these days. Very impressive selection of footwear and sportswear. Helped me and my son with pain issues by fitting us with just the right products for us. The prices are Not a bargain, however I must say that it was worth every penny. Thank you Boulder Running Company!!

They take a lot of time and effort to find you your perfekt fitting running shoes.

If you have any problems that may be related to how you walk/run (eg knee issues, persistent stiff calves, ankle issues) you should give this place a visit. They have treadmills outfitted with high speed cameras that can view your running gait frame by frame to find pronation or other issues that shoes can help correct. They also have a huge supply of shoes so finding the correct size shouldn't be a problem. They are usually quite busy and you essentially cannot shop for shoes without working directly with one of their staff. If you have the time though, you won't regret the time. They also have a free loyalty program that can save you money on return visits.

The running store my wife and I go to for all our hiking and running gear! The only down side to Boulder running company they don t carry enough product in my shoe size 11.5.

This store is absolutely great. I went in looking for running shoes which needed to be very specific because I had multiple hip surgeries. One of the employees Mike spent over an hour and a half with me trying to find me the perfect shoe which we found. Their prices were the best I have seen as well but with that customer service I would have paid more for those shoes. I will be going back for all and any of my running needs.

The guy who helped me just told me his ideas of what I needed and don't listen to what my dr. said I needed. Didn't do any diagnostics and fit me entirely wrong. My son had such a good experience here and I felt like I got some guy off of the street. I don't think I'll go back.

I received an UD pack for my birthday in July. After only a couple wears, the right zipper fell off and the seams came undone. I brought back to BRC and the initial interaction was great. They told me this was the first they d seen of this, so I exchanged. After only two uses with the second vest, the same thing happened same side, same issue. I brought it back super disappointed and wanted to do a full return. I didn t take the bottles in bc honesty I didn t think about it I had two defective vests and had to visit the store related to the issue more than I should have. The first team member told me I needed to work it out with UD, or exchange for another of the vests, and there was nothing the store could do...for a product they sold me. Then the manager told me it was because I didn t have the bottles. I told them I d drop off the bottles but I at least wanted store credit at this time. The manager then told me well, those bottles are worth like $27 so we can do anything without the bottles. Oh my. I realize the issue is related to quality of UD but the fact that the store is the one selling it and where we bought it I expected better customer service given the repeat issue. They can easily work this out with UD, rather than the customer being the in between. Wouldn t recommend BRC based on the customer service and limited willingness to help...only going back so I can bring the (critical $27) bottles and get a refund.

I went here simply to get a gift card for a family member for Christmas. I am a large woman, and had the sense this is a place only for people who are runners or athletes. Not welcoming if you're not.

Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great selection of all kinds of athletic sneakers and most importantly they have the inventory to back up what they have on the shelf. Night and day difference to the mall shoe stores.

I've been buying my running shoes from this store for 16 years so I may be a bit biased but I believe this store is amazing. It's has a lot of history in boulder and many many great and influential runners in boulder have not only bought their shoes their but have also been workers there.

For me every time I return to boulder going to this store is a little bit of a pilgrimage for me and fills me with memories of my first real running shoes (with the whole tread mill set up and video camera back before flat screens), my first pair of cross country racing shoes, then my first Hokas, then my first set of Altras. And every single time without a doubt the best customer service that you can get at a running store.

I've been satisfied with every pair of shoes I've ever bought here. And I can't say that is true for shoes I've bought from other stores. The level of advice and experience that their staff can bring to the table is so far beyond other places that you'll always be satisfied after they've helped you.

Update - 8/5/2019 (11months later):
Turns out I was fitted with the completely wrong style shoe that has led to chronic shin splits and Achilles tendinitis. I require a neutral shoe, but was put in a stability shoe. It took me awhile to realize it was actually the shoes causing the issues. Moved on to shopping at Runners Roost now.

Very knowledgeable staff that is always willing to put in the effort to find you the correct shoe. They never try to up-sell you, their sole purpose is to give you the best running experience. They will have you run on the treadmill while recording how you land on your feet to ensure that they find the perfect style.

John, helped me this time around and he was super nice. I could tell he was juggling a lot of costumers but when I needed him he was there. This was my 3rd time purchasing running shoes from BRC and will not be the last.

I've always had good experiences at the Boulder Running Company and I appreciate that they are so involved in the community. A great shop with friendly employees, a good selection of gear, and the best stock of endurance nutrition fuel for runners and cyclists.

This place is awesome. Great products but even more so GREAT staff.
It is a rare thing to find a specialty store where the staff are not only super knowledgeable and eager to take the time to educate you but are NOT condescending IN THE LEAST (to less knowledgeable people like myself), which makes for a very comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience even if you are new to it all.

Ok shop, I was expecting a bit more variety. However, the selection was good and the prizes were competitive. Needs a bit of refresh maybe.

I'm a retired guy looking for walking shoes since my tennis shoes I had worked for the gym, that I miss terribly. Need a vaccine now. Not much on shoes but decided I needed a good fitting and feeling one for walking. Jackie was very helpful, very efficient, friendly and brought out shoes till we found the perfect one. such a great place for everything related to running! they have all the latest styles of shoes, clothing, and gear for runners and athletes. super great selection, great deals/sales, and knowledgeable and friendly staff. I didn t buy anything, but I would come here first if I ever needed running shoes! they have an extensive selection of Hoka one one, some Nike, New Balance, and more niche brands. they even have treadmills to try the shoes out before you buy them. they carry theraguns and recovery equipment as well.

Will find amazing deals, only if you are able to get them, their customer service and "updated" stock are impaired, hopefully they will get it corrected... worst shopping experience, partial order, out of stock, no explanations... I will keep shopping with running warehouse

I go through several pairs of running shoes per year and generally buy from the Boulder Running Company. The staff are very helpful and really try to get you into the right shoes.

I have been coming to this store for years (decades now) starting with High School Cross Country shoes and their expertise, friendliness and selection is still the best worldwide. I ve fallen into the pit of online sales for shoes but never again, the knowledge every sales person has is excellent and better than any online review of shoes. I have always been happy with my purchases here and feel confident with their evaluation when running on their treadmill. Great store and Matt is also a great source of information for shoes!

The staff is incredibly helpful, and will take out shoe and shoe to make sure that you get the right one that fits. It's worth the time and cost to get the shoe that fits your foot.

I've had some great experiences at Boulder Running Company and they have some amazing staff and great footwear. I went in for the first time 2 months ago and purchased some shoes. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I left pretty happy.

I started experiencing footpain in my left foot with these new shoes so I went back and I received awesome help from one of the employees, Hugo. He sat down with me, measured how I walked (to see if I was experiencing under or overpronation), recommended insoles based off my feet and purpose, and he got around 6 different shoes for me to try and this while he was helping other customers. Hugo spent a solid hour making sure I got the right shoes, and I'm delighted to say that he was right. My left foot pain has gone away and I'm extremely happy with these shoes.

I would definitely recommend anyone to go check out Boulder Running Company and working with Hugo to see what fits them best. I will definitely come back here again.

Employees were nice when I finally did get help, but they didn't really try to help me when I was in the store. Being a sprinter, I feel like the employees might have more knowledge about distance running, but I have been to a store where the employees could tell me what shoe works for me based on how I walk with the shoe on, so maybe I am a bit spoiled in that regard.
It's not that the employees didn't seem knowledgable, but they didn't seem to be as knowledgable as I had hoped considering the store's name. If you're just looking for shoes to walk in or to leisurely run 10k's in outside competition then this place would probably be good for you.

Very knowledgeable, and student discount works on top of other discounts. They also have a loyalty program where every $200 you spend, you get $20. So moral of the story is that you'll find some great deals from really nice workers and staff

Love, love, love this store!! The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. They great you when you enter and then show you one on one service until you find exactly what you need. I buy my running shoes here every year and have never been disappointed.

Bought 2 pairs of shoes and Orthotics which were selected by the professional staff member after the thorough evaluation of my running on the treadmill ( the running was videotaped couple times with the different shoes until they satisfied with my feet placement during the running). The pronation of the knees were adjusted with Orthotics. Visit Took 2+ hr with the excellent choices due to my condition. Thankful to the excellence of the staff!

After having a bad experience at another running shoe company in town I decided to try Boulder Running Company off of Pearl St.
I had a wonderful experience with Matt who helped me find the best choice of shoes for me. The other people working there were friendly as well and interested in how I was liking the shoe etc.!!
I did not feel rushed, Matt was very patient with me and answered all my questions happily as he is very knowledgeable.
One of the nice things is if I wear them for 30 days and find they do not work good for me I can bring them back. My feet are hard to fit so this is an added plus for me. Very satisfied and happy! Thank you Matt ~

Friendly staff.. folks that helped me weren't extremely knowledgeable about their products. But they had the shoes I was looking for.

Until last year I never considered myself much of a runner, and I was happy running in whatever shoes I could get on sale at a typical sporting goods store. But with some knee problems this year I wanted to do running shoes right, so I decided to try the Boulder Running Company. Jon helped me and was incredibly patient, first finding shoes the right size and width, then capturing video of my feet striking a treadmill to analyze my pronation, and then bringing out 4-5 other pairs of shoes for me to try on. In the two weeks since I bought the shoes, my feet and knees have rarely been happier.
