Independently owned & operated hotel in Boston, ab...

Independently owned & operated hotel in Boston, about 2 miles from the convention center. Opulent lobby with bars & restaurant. Elevators require room card to operate. Room with King bed is small, with a desk but no desk chair. A smaller table & a small sofa chair. Bathroom is a squeeze but tasteful. Main issue is price for the size & offering. Expensive by every standard, but less than surrounding hotels. There is a keurig for coffee & a refrigerator, but no microwave. The flat screen LCD TV comes with a chromecast (you'll need an app to connect). There is $75 security cover per day (refundable if no charge). Plus another $15 per day for internet & fitness room which is a absolutely hidden fee, not disclosed at booking. No way to wiggle out of the $15 charge. No free wifi in the building. I would say if you can price shop with location flexibility, you should. Plus for the hotel is perhaps location. Nice and clean otherwise. You should expect that much at this price.

Historic hotel on prime location less than 1 block from Boston Commons and nearby shopping. Plenty of options to eat within a short walk or eat at the top notch Strip restaurant located on the 1st floor. Hotel interior is stunning and elegant. Staff is efficient and professional. I was here for a very large conference and the facilities were accommodating and flexible for both many large and small breakout sessions. Rooms are clean, updated and comfortable. If you are a walker - all of Boston's main sites are within a reasonable walk...harbor, warf, little Italy, Freedom Trail. I did an easy run to the Bunker Hill monument, but it could be walked also.

This place looks amazing but honestly I could not be more disappointed with my stay here. I came for a one night stay in the city and after I booked the hotel I called them to inform them that I would be accompanied by a service dog. The person I spoke with on the phone said that it was not a problem and that I would not be assessed a pet fee because it was a service animal (good, considering its against the law to charge any pet fees when you have a service animal.) however when I checked in the manager (Yeasly I believe her name was) demanded to see paperwork for my service animal (which is a violation of federal law to ask for any paperwork regarding service animals) and insisted that she had worked in 16 years in the hotel industry but "wouldn't get into legality" because she isn't a lawyer. I'm sorry if you're going to be a manager servicing the public then you MUST know the laws you are beholden to. She then created a charge on my account for a pet fee, violating the law and draining my account so I could not eat anything that night for dinner and had to borrow money from family members to even get back home. This entire ordeal was extremely frustrating and painful and I got hit with overdraft fees because of the hold placed on my account because of this. She refunded the pet fee but only after a long discussion in which I had to pull up the actual law text on my phone regarding this. I am so so upset with this place and will never EVER be returning here. A night in the city where I was supposed to be able to enjoy myself turned into a night spent hungry in my hotel room crying because of this. Do not patron this place, they do not care about people with disabilities who need service animals to help them navigate life.

This place is terrible. I'm in an adjoining room and can hear very single word coming from the other side of the door!! I've been at other hotels and stayed in adjoining rooms before but never have I been able to hear conversations from the other room so clearly! Last night it was a mother daughter having a conversation. Apparently they've checked out and tonight there is a group of men talking business or something. If you decide to stay here make sure you request not to have an adjoining room!

My fiance and I stayed at the Boston Park Plaza for a few days using a deal we found on Groupon. Upon checking in, we received two $30 vouchers to use in the hotel's restaurant (The Commons). The food was incredible! It was upscale, reasonably priced, and packed with flavor (recommendations: fried calamari, baby kale and quinoa salad, and the Buffalo chicken pops). The hotel rooms are clean and modern, and the hotel itself is located directly across from the Boston Commons Park, which we loved.

The hotel is very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Drink and food prices were much higher than what could be had elsewhere in Boston though. The rooms were quite small, although that it a result of the age of the building rather than any fault of the hotel.

Very striking that in the gym you have to sign a statement of discharge that exempts the hotel from any liability if you hurt yourself, and specifies that even if it is the hotel's fault, you will have to take care of the expenses that occur. Abusive.

Nice!

Came here for a conference. It's a beautiful hotel and in abgreat location. About a mile from the harbor and literally around the corner from Boston Common. I walked everywhere. The staff has been great too!

Check in was at 3:00 pm, could not get into room until after 4:30. Restaurant service was extremely slow. Had to actually get up to find waitstaff. Beautiful hotel but services were disappointing.

Excellent service, great location in Boston, walking distance to Boston Common and Newbury Street. Boston Oprea House 4 minutes by taxi. Highly recommended. Congeier Roger was delightful!

One of the nicest hotels I've been to in any city let alone Boston. The staff is very attentive and the rooms are spotless. It's centrally located downtown and an easy walk to most anything you'd like to do or see in the area.

Beautiful interior, but the rooms are tiny! And because it's older, be prepared for some noisy mornings and evenings as guests come and go. Despite that our stay was pleasant. There's a Starbucks adjacent which made for an easy breakfast. The staff was helpful and there are plenty of areas to lounge while waiting for a cab or Uber.

The gf and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was in a perfect spot for us to be able to walk around downtown Boston. Would definitely recommend it.

Paid a high rate for a mediocre room. The bathroom had an odor and the room itself was terribly small with no view. Had a friend whos wedding reception was held at their venue and her room had water damage and smelled of mold. When she asked to switch they were not helpful. Valet took 30+ minutes to retrieve our car and security/customer service was not very concerned about retrieving a suit left behind. Has great historical appeal but the place is a zoo.

What an amazing experience we just had at the Boston Park Plaza! My family and I almost didn't stay here. We had it booked at one rate, then saw another hotel we really liked for just a few dollars more so we booked that and cancelled. But BPP posted a new, much lower rate so we decided to stay here afterall. Thank goodness we did!

It started when we arrived very early (9am) and not expecting them to have a room available until at least 1pm, they indicated a room would be ready by 10am. We had the bellmen hold our bags while we had breakfast. Upon returning to check in, the bellman actually delivered our bags to the room. I know it's not uncommon but it's been some time and a welcome surprise.

The surprises continued when, after all day sightseeing around Boston, we came back to rest and get ready for dinner. Around 4:30pm there was a knock on the door - room service brought us cookies and milk! Just because! We were again pleasantly surprised and already knew we made the right choice in staying.

Not 10 minutes later, I noticed there was an envelope under the door - we had received a personalized note welcoming us to the hotel and thanking us for staying! We felt like dignitaries and had an amazing experience.

It is centrally located, only a block away from the Arlington T stop and within walking distance of most of Boston's landmarks. It's historic and has several nice restaurants right on sight. The only thing we didn't like was that we couldn't stay longer. On our next trip to Boston, the Boston Park Plaza hotel will undoubtedly have our business!

We had a great time visiting Boston and staying here. Gigi was awesome at the concierge desk. I don't go places that have a concierge very often and she was super approachable and awesome. She helped us get tickets for all the touristy stuff we wanted to do and sent up a nice present for our anniversary. The hotel itself was very nicely appointed and everyone we spoke with was nice and friendly. You're also less than a block from the Commons and the Arlington subway station from here, too. Both of these figured heavily into our touristy plans, so keep that in mind. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby, not that I'm just a huge fan of Starbucks but I am fairly lazy when it comes to coffee. I'm not going to walk two blocks when Starbucks is right there.

That is located at the center of Boston. Perfect for visitors. Just few steps to train, next to a nice park and surrounded by many shops. That is great for shopping. Just few stations to downtown, actually I can even walk to there. So that is perfect to a visitor to be in Boston. The gym is huge, and that is perfect to a sports lover like me.

The hotel must have gone through an extensive renovation. It was a beautiful mix of old architecture and contemporary. Room was a little small but clean and the bed was really comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Was there for an event and the food was just okay.

One of the best hotels in Boston. Their gym is amazing too, but their sauna feels like an ice bath. At least ice baths are healthier than saunas according to health specialists. So thank you Boston Park Plaza for sincerely caring about our health-being.

EN: THIS IS NOT A REAL HIGH-LEVEL HOTEL AT ALL! Very disappointing place. I stayed here for 7 nights and as soon as I got there I received a note in my room saying that I won't have water at all for 2-3 nights from midnight to 6-7 a.m. but I had to wake up early every morning for work. I had to refill the tube before going to sleep in order to get some water in the bathroom. They prolonged this problem for 2-3 nights more with a second note. So I had this problem during 6 nights. They didn't offer any discount or something to compensate somehow the inconvenience but just excuses (written and oral ones).

Such a great stay. Perfect room, soft linens, spacious room, and perfect location. The library is a perfect place to sit, have coffee or a cocktail, and people watch. Front desk staff was so friendly from the moment if check in until well after check out. Thank you!!!!!

The hotel has been redecorated and looks spectacular. However the size of the rooms varies widely as does the service. We called 90 minutes before our 3:00 guaranteed check-in time to ask if the room was ready. The switchboard could not get through to the front desk and told us just to come in. We arrived at 2:10, waited until 3 pm, but didn't get our room until 3:40 pm. On our way out, the bell and valet service was fantastic, but in the past we'vd had to wait a very long time. The hotel is expensive but I wouldn't mind the cost if the service were reliably excellent.

I have stayed here a few times, and will come back whenever it makes sense in my travels. The service is great, very polite staff from the front desk to the doormen to the bartenders. A standard room isn't too big, but I like that because it encourages me to head out in the city if I'm feeling adventurous, or hang out in the spacious lobby bar. The bar has an extensive whiskey menu and there are different areas for you to sit in. The bar itself, a large open restaurant area, an area tucked away (used for breakfast in teh morning), and a great little alcove with armchairs and lounge benches. I find myself sitting with a book some nights while the buzz of the crowd is around me and it is very pleasant.

My favorite feature of this hotel though, is the gym facility. They have a partnership with a Lynx gym (local chain), so you aren't stuck with a useless 2 treadmill and 1 weight set hotel gym. You have full access to the very well equipped Lynx in the basement level. Including tons of cardio, weights, yoga balls, and a well stocked locker room with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, disposable razors, and towels. If you are someone who hates missing their workout while travelling, stay here, and get a better one than at home!

A superb and iconic hotel.
First time staying here.
Large and friendly lobby with plenty of seating to watch the world go by.
Hotel is very clean and modern with complimentary wifi in the lobby.
A Starbucks built into it and a lovely snug with an open fire.
Would highly recommend.

The staff was wonderful! Clean rooms, quiet, and secure. The location is perfect, we were able to walk to the North end in less then a half-hour. It's a block away from. Beautiful park. We will be going back!

Beds are dangerously comfortable, small rooms but just enough space for what you need. My one complaint was there was always a long line at the front desk, checking in and out was slow!

Excellent location, 4 minutes to the subway station and Boston Grand Park, very comfortable and modern environment and staff, but the room is not soundproof, if the quality of the guest is not good, it will be disturbed by TV or loud voice

The Good: I had a bed in my room. The room was clean. Check-in and check-out went smooth. The TV worked. I heard from some of my co-workers that their rooms were barely larger than the bed they had, and the bathroom was the size of an average shower, so by comparison my room was an absolute suite.

The Bad: The A/C was loud and hard to adjust to the right temperature. The result was terrible dry air and difficulty hearing the TV. There was no rack in the shower to put stuff on. When I mentioned problems to the staff, they did not follow through on my concerns, and as best as I can guess they really didn't care.

The Ugly: Ho boy.... This is going to be long. I was in an adjoining room, and the room next door had a light on that bled through the adjoining door all night making it hard to sleep. When I mentioned it to the staff the next day, they said there wasn't anything they could do because there was a guest in the room already and I would have to wait for them to turn it off. The next night the light was still on, but the staff at least told me who was in the room because it was one of my co-workers. I was able to reach out to him and have him turn off the light the third night. One evening when I got to my room there was a party going on in the meeting room next door and they were singing loudly and playing the piano. Thankfully they stopped around 10pm, but it is a terrible place to have a guest room. The shower door was "broken" and missing the sealer to prevent the water from spilling out onto the floor, so even after a short shower the floor was wet. When the door was closed it would make a loud "bang," which I feared would result in it shattering. I pointed this out to maintenance staff who said he would "speak to his boss." Nothing was ever done. The Internet absolutely DID NOT WORK, ever. I think I connected to it once, but was kicked off in less than 5 minutes. I ended up using my MiFi the entire time. There was no shelf or cover over the back of the toilet, so the toilet seat would fall back against the wall/pipes when opened, and the toilet was positioned so close to the wall that the toilet paper was pressed against my leg when seated. The linens, both bed and bath, were uncomfortably rough to sleep on or dry off with. A bit of a surprise for a "nice hotel." And finally, when I was entering the hotel, the doorman jumped in and grabbed my rollaboard without asking me if I needed help. He then took it and by extension me to the check-in desk despite my desire to stop and talk to my co-workers. Once arriving at the desk he paused and looked at me as if expecting a tip for something I neither desired nor needed help with.

Our stay at Boston Park Plaza was a spur of the moment decision due to unforseen circumstances. However, the hotel was able to accomodate us at 1am in the morning at a reasonable cost. We stayed at a superior queen room, and the room was very spacious, clean, and well furnished with high tech appliances. There are usb chargers and a smart tv in the rooms. The main floor is glamorous with a Starbucks connected to it. The staff are all very friendly and east to talk with. They provided a personal touch to this high class hotel. The location is at the center of Boston, so everything, from the hotel to the parking, is quite expensive. However, if the opportunity ever arises again, we will stay here.
