Usually my job sets me up with middle range hotels but this one was a great stay! The room was spacious and the windows were quiet. I really should talk about the gym because it was bar-none the best hotel gym I've ever used. I don't know if it was an LA fitness or something, but the gym blew my mind.

Came here with a large group and they had all of our key cards in envelopes under our different guests names! Lovely lobby and conveniently located for all of our activities in Boston. Rooms were cozy and lovely.
Recently refurbished historic hotel. Very clean rooms, great location, and the best staff I've experienced in a large hotel ever. From check in, asking for directions, and modifying reservations. Everything went smoothly, it was a genuine pleasure interacting with the people of Park Plaza. The location would be hard to beat. Walking distance to great restaurants, the Community Park, the Commons, the Freedom Trail, and China Town.
We stayed here for one night in a king room. On the cons side:
1. Parking- we looked online and saw that they charged over $50 a night. Which is absurd for guests. We looked around and found another location for about half the price up the street but not being from the area, we had to drive around a few times unable to find the entrance which was frustrating. If they had reasonable parking rates for guests, this could have avoided.
2. The room - if you see the attached photo, the room was really small. Only one person could walk around the bed, that is how tight the space was. In the bathroom i could literally touch the toilet, sink and tub with one armslength. Also I was excited to see a tub but they removed the tap so you cannot fill the tub up, only shower. Thanks??
3. The doors in this hotel are insanely heavy. The doors on a cruise that we took recently were lighter. What does this mean? Every person coming in to and out of their room you will get to hear the door slam at 10 decibels. That is how we awoke in the morning.
4. When checking in, we asked for two extra blankets to be sent up. The person checking us in said, sure, we will get those right up. When we returned after our play, it was 11 PM and no blankets. A 4 star hotel should have 4 star service. We had to call again and wait another 20 minutes for someone to come.
5. wifi - No free wifi? They wanted $12.95 a night?? Unbelievable.
The pros:
What this hotel lacked was made up for in their amazing fitness center. It was pretty much a full gym. It always amazes me how hotels throw a few pieces of old equipment together and call it a "fitness center." This place has the real deal. All sorts of equipment, locker rooms, comfortable temperatures, etc.
Overall we would stay here again, but they could certainly make improvements.
Absolutely a beautiful hotel and the location is prime. However, the "cozy king", being reasonably priced, is extremely cozy. You will need the bed space to open the suit case. Overall, worthwhile as you will spend your time out of the room. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I ever slept in. Did I mention it is beautiful? Also, M.J. O'Connor's is right there.
Nice location away from the heavy traffic spots. Great atmosphere as you walk in. Service is excellent and the bar on the first floor is a great place to relax and grab a drink - I really enjoyed my Old Fashioned. Prices for rooms were not that bad. Cheap parking is hard to find in Boston but the hotel is a short walk to the Common's Parking lot which has a good daily rate.
Great makeover! Fell in love with my initial impression of the lobby. The room was nice and clean. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but my overall stay was satisfying!
The lobby is very grandiose, and the staff was friendly, but overall the experience was very lackluster for a hotel with such a name for itself. The room was stark and uninviting, though the bed was comfortable.
Beautiful hotel, beautiful lobby, elegant! Elevators nostalgic but modern, great rooms! Fabulous location. Bathrooms small in rooms, bar needs better drink prices, are my only critiques.
Love this hotel, have stayed here twice and will stay again! The staff will go above and beyond to make guests comfortable. The rooms on the river have a pretty view. Decent food available on the premises and also such a great venue for any conventions or major functions. Will return, thanks Boston Park Plaza!
Rooms have been remodeled but that can't change the size. I've stayed here many times through work and am usually given what they call a "cozy" room. That's a euphemism for tiny. There's no real closet or desk. The television is mounted on the wall since there's no other place to put it. Make sure you find out what size room you're booking before staying here.
Got the cozy suite which is indeed cozy but not uncomfortably so! Nice shower and GREAT gym in the basement. Hotel staff was very helpful and even arranged for us to check in early!
Great so far--they had a room ready for us at the absurd hour of 8am, and the breakfast buffet was small and expensive but yummy. Similarly, the rooms are very small for two queen rooms, with no desk and minimal drawer space, but are clean, and there's a bathroom/fridge/coffee machine--what more does one need?
The building is beautiful but the rooms are not very good. I specifically asked for two separate beds and came to found one large bed. I had to request a roll on bed which was truly uncomfortable.
You absolutely must stay at this hotel if the idea of waking up to an alarm at 3:00am is appealing to you. About 10-15 minutes after everyone had finally made it back up to their rooms and (probably) fallen back to sleep, they came on with an announcement that the problem had been identified and corrected (with no explanation of what the problem was). Then about a half hour to an hour later in the night, the whole process repeated itself....another alarm...another announcement. As for the rest of the hotel....it was nice enough but the rooms were very small.
Room clean and okay. Staff mostly friendly, location okay as you are quick in the historic district and many attractions. Breakfast around the corner in a cafe, restaurants nearby. Parking expensive, so only the day before departure the car rented to the tour
Really nice city centre hotel. Friendly staff and great athmosphere. Breakfast is really awesome. Pancakes are really good and the staff is very friendly.
Hotel is first rate, lobby, decor... Front desk, Dominic super friendly and personable, my only complaint is the parking fee, outrageous...so we parked our bikes on the street facing the park to the hotel and saved ourselves over 200$.
The hotel is really nice! The shower is so tiny and their toilet feels like you are using one from a public place. If it wasn't for those items I would have given them 5 stars.
Great location--2 minute walk to the public garden and easily accessible by public transportation. The hotel is very nice and the food is delicious. Came for a conference and the facilities were great, it's a lot bigger inside than you'd think.
The hotel was renovated a couple years ago and I like the changes. It lost some of its historic feel but it's still a great hotel. Incredible gym, nice updated rooms and great location.
I travel and visit many 4 star and 5 star hotels around the world. Park plaza was exceptional. It was my husband 40th birthday. I wanted the night to be special. I shared that with the gentleman at the front desk upon check in. I had immediately fell asleep upon entering room. When a couple of hours my husband stated a card, candy and a beautiful bottle of wine arrived. Was so impressed we will never use another hotel when visiting Boston. Thanks Umar.
Room was not clean and front desk not helpful. Would have been okay had the concierge not rolled her eyes when I asked for directions. Look elsewhere. Rooms around the area cost less with same terrible service.
It is a place of luxury, it has a doorman who opens the door for you whenever you go out very clean, by American standards, very spacious rooms, however my bathtub was blocked for 2 days, I asked for the intervention of a plumber but nothing was done .. Beware of smokers in Boston there is a local ordinance you can not smoke near any public exercise only in the streets do not have ashtrays then the butts or you collect or throw yourself to the ground in the hotel instead there is a corner for smokers with ashtrays the fines are salted the first day I arrived I was picked up by the porter smoking zero tolerance ... Even inside the rooms there are fines if you smoke .. I would say that more than smoking is food to kill them ... But I respect the their way of thinking so I was ligia .. And I respected the prohibitions ... Inside the hotel there are several shops and a Starbucks ... It is a very luxurious place ... the staff is friendly and helpful porters at part... They never smile ... these Americans are sad !!
I've stayed here a number of times over the years because my office is just down the street. The hotel is ginormous. The building itself, which includes commercial and retail space, occupies a solid city block.
It's legit historic and iconic but by Boston standards not really especially much if either. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable as you'd expect. Likewise with the service.
The bar is a favorite for a drink or two after work.
