Had a superior room but wanted to be near daughter. Accepted a smaller room then they moved her because the crib would not fit. Initially they refused to move me but then my daughter worked magic. The small room is so small you cannot close the door of the bathroom to use the toilet because of inadequate leg room. Also inadequate closet space for two people. The second room was much better. A closet, a bathroom with a solid door and a fine fit for a couple. Nice location. Lots of conference bookings here.
No clue what everyone else is complaining about, as our stay was fantastic. We even got a free upgrade to a King-sized room with free breakfast and free WiFi!
We were put on the top floor on the night the snow storm hit (the coldest/snowiest it's been in 20 or so years?). Our room was massive, the walls were a bit thin, but we were able to look past that and enjoy the fact that the hotel is in a great location, the breakfast was great, and the WiFi did not disappoint.
Would stay again!
Stayed for a few nights during pax east, so there were a lot of convention goers, which means lots of parties and loud noise at night. Other than that, way nicer than I expected it to be. Service is really helpful and fast, even when it was packed with many convention goers.
Great property in really good location. Loved the mattress and bed linen as well as the fluffy pillows. Great value for money.
Overall a fine hotel and average experience, nothing above and beyond that would make it great. It is an old building. Seemingly over priced for what it is. But great location.
This was a hard one to rate. Just returned from a company event, we had a manager's meeting for 3 days and brought staff in from around the country. I was excited to hear that there were renovations. The last time I stayed was 2010 and it was very old. So...this week we experienced a much improved hotel! Lobby had great music, was bright and lively. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Our meeting room was a level below the hotel, so the space was adequate; cell service was spotty so many of us had to come upstairs to make calls. Some of us also complained about the size of our rooms (very very small; or the bathrooms were very small). That was disappointing. Food was very good, bar prices reasonable. The rooms were really the only thing disappointing to many of us that came from across the country. With frequent trips and meetings to Boston, I may select one of our other preferred locations over this one...jury still out.
Great location in town. Friendly staff and also very helpful. Drinks at bar are expensive.
Staff was friendly. Rooms are tiny. I have closets bigger than my room at the Boston Park Plaza. I found it odd that if you valet your car you have to drive around the building and then walk back to the front outside the building. Somewhat defeats the purpose of valet
Large hotel with 1000+ rooms so attention on guests is minimal. No breakfast included, no gym included. Not even a bottle of water. Room is super small size. However overall the Hotel layout is good and clean and staff is friendly.
No real complaints. Room was generally clean. My room had a good view. Window has blackout shades that were amazing. Generously sized TV with Chromecast. No real desk for work but a small tray table type thing. Mini fridge free for use. Keurig available, not sure if free. Small bathroom. Tub/shower basin was fine but knob and spouts were pretty old. Showerhead poured like a waterfall. First night unknowingly spilled like a gallon of water on the floor due to the water volume and precarious angle of the dual showerhead, which I had to clean up or leave for room service. Staff also gives new towels every day regardless, which is wasteful. My room had a small door between the adjacent room to allow shared parties to walk between rooms. Thermostat was easy to use and worked well. Ample outlets, lights, and USB wall outlets. Not many areas for placing luggage aside from the floor.
Hotel lobby and public areas all seem nice.
No issues during my stay. Prompt service, government rate available. Location was unbeatable.
You can really judge a hotel by its staff. Not so much the staff you see from 9 to 5 but the other times. This hotel has the rudest, least competent, and worst front desk clerks of any hotel in Boston. This is an overpriced dump with horrible staff.
Fresh aromatic, clean smell invites guests into the main lobby as the doors are graciously opened by welcoming doormen. The hotel is centrally located, and is walking distances from upscale dining, landmarks and great shopping. Check-in and out staff are polite and expedious, engaging, attractive and customer service is great. The rooms are small but clean and updated. Wi Fi uses incurs additonal charge which is surpring in 2016, so does the use of the gym. I would have like fluffier or more pillows as the three on the bed were flat, making sleep uncomfortable.
Valet service was fast and each member of the valet team was as professional as the interior staff. Because parking is rare and coveted in Boston, valet parking in the hotel is expensive, $48 per day.
There are several restaurants/bar on site and the bar serves late night. Room service is incredibly polite, fast and accommodating. An overall great stay.
We paid in full in advance, or so we thought until we checked in and they started rattling off all the other things they were going to charge us for - none of which we used (fitness center, wifi...). Not such a nice welcome - wait in line for a long time only to be asked which credit card we'd like to use for this charge we didn't know about and this fee for things we won't use and... The room is small and the bathroom is TINY, like a public bathroom stall except with a tub. If you lean over to brush your teeth or wash your face in the toddler sized sink, you'll smack your forehead on the glass shelf that sits not so conveniently over the sink. The hair dryer is broken open down the seam and won't go back together, but it technically still works. There's nowhere to set anything and no room to maneuver so stuff is constantly falling (keep that toilet lid down!) The water temperature is not regulated-it gets warm for a few seconds then it gets icy cold for a few seconds then it's hot for about two seconds... these three temperatures repeat in 2-10 second intervals for the entire shower, hand washing, whatever you're doing. The walls are thin so you can hear everything. Last night for two hours straight I heard five consecutive thumps on the wall about every 1-2 minutes. TWO HOURS STRAIGHT! I don't know if someone was hammering nearby or there was air in the pipes behind the walls or what, but it was incredibly irritating. The pillows are nice, the room is clean, the location is fantastic, and I appreciate the toiletries being cruelty free, but I wish we had stayed somewhere else and I wouldn't choose this place again. We've stayed in much nicer hotels for a lot less (and that's based on the price even without all the hidden fees).
Absolutely wonderful hotel!! The staff were fabulous and treated us like family!
We come here every year and its a good, cheap place to stay. Rooms are small but its still fun
Good hotel, but dated interiors, and needs some serious replacement of beds and such.
Staff was kind. Didn't have a view from my room since it faces other rooms which the only downside but the bed is comfortable, restroom was clean and the cleaning staff does great.
Excellent Hotel, with all of the perks imagineable.
The hotel Fitness Gym was of a Gold standard. Highly recommended.
Loved the hotel. Conveniently located, great meeting rooms for our conference, bed was comfortable. My only complaint would be that when you open the door to the Superior Queen room that I stayed in, you practically trip over the nightstand. The first time, it was difficult to get in with the bags and all. Even withoutany bags, it's an awkward setup.
It is old, dirty carpet, tiny bathroom. Correct breakfast
A bit older hotel but recently renovated. Good rates and a great location close to Boston Common
Great prices because we stayed during a remodel. Lost a star rating though because they booked us in a room we didn't request. They did however correct that issue quickly.
Upscale and elegant ambience. Very good condition for an older hotel, I think it must have been renovated in the last few years.
Very small rooms but very updated. Beds are very uncomfortable and pillows. Staff is alright.
Centrally located, clean, trendy lobby, rooms on the small side. Posting a good review because a meal I didn t eat was put on my bill, I pointed out the problem to them on a phone call, and it was corrected a day or two later without me having to follow up on it. I appreciate that kind of follow-through.
Rooms are small but we'll appointed. The bathrooms have been renovated recently but some of the room shows it's age. Nothing too crazy but you'd expect better based on the price. The bed is comfy and the AC is frosty. The walls are thin so if you're not a heavy sleeper, you may want to bring earplugs or a white noise machine.
Downstairs is gorgeous! Don't order an old fashioned... They butchered it.
Average travel experience at an insanely premium price. Rooms are very clean, staff is just super bougey and it s on the high end of the price range for what you actually end up getting. I d absolutely stay here again, tho, to be clear. Really central location, clean and quiet even when absolutely packed (as it was during our stay). In all an ok experience - only gripe is the cost to value.
Room was good, service great, lobby was pretty awesome. Room was a bit overpriced for a night (it was a Saturday night however), wifi was 20$.
What an amazing hotel in the heart of the city. Close to Backbay Train Station, within walking distance of the mall and the historical touches on the inside of the hotel make this a must stay hotel for me. I can't wait to return to the hotel in a few weeks. I would definitely recommend upgrading to a studio suite however as the bathroom size definitely makes the difference in the room. Extremely comfortable beds and attentive staff.
Got a great deal through chase points. Room was small and had a damp smell to it. A bit noisy outside. Service was great though
Clean, fair priced to the location. Cons: breakfast at 11.
Location is amazing, close to a lot of awesome parks and sight seeing but the rooms in general are cramped and very limited. Came with a bathroom and a coffee maker basically. Not to mention the view from my room was that of another hotel. If I could do it again I would pay less money and go out the city a little bit and I would have enjoyed my stay a lot more. Oh well lesson learned.
The hotel is in a nice location; close to Boston Common. Rooms are tidy and bright. Amenities are more than adequate.
This definitely feels like a classy hotel. It's recently been refurbished and my company hosted an event here using many of the facilities. Our event went flawlessly and our clients and partners thoroughly enjoyed the event.
The Boston Park Plaza was a great venue for our conference. Rooms are clean, bright, and modern and the ball room was spacious and beautiful. No complaints here.
Very friendly staff. Great central location and very content with the rooms.
Really nice hotel but make sure you pay for WiFi and gym use before you get there
Beautiful hotel in the center of Boston. Very nice, friendly staff.
Beautiful location, but if your using Maps to find the place, make sure you search for the Hotel, or it will send you to the office building.
The room was small, but adequate for a business trip. However, of you are a breastfeeding or pumping working mom - do not come here. The night doorman was rude when I looked for a bag ticket for my cooler. When I dropped off my "take home cooler" to freeze my ice packs, I specifically asked for the cooler to remain level. This was to ensure that my ice packs would be flat for when I packed my milk to come home. I picked up my cooler this morning and it was obviously stored on its side. The ice packs are all misshapen. This will make packing my frozen milk nearly impossible. Thanks for nothing. Hotels should be more accommodating and supportive of working moms. I would not come back.
Really tiny rooms. Bit old and the room I was in sure needed some touch ups.
Hotel is beautiful, location is nice. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. The elevators are quick. The rooms are European sizes, so a bit small if you are accustomed to Midwest sized rooms. Bed is fine, rooms are clean. Would visit again.
Pretty good location unfortunately the day I stayed was quite rough cos of some random noisy groups next door..
Great place to stay, a bit upset that I found out on day 3 that the mini fridge was not functioning.
Hotel is luxurious and comfortable friendly staff
I came to Boston on our anniversary trip and this hotel was beautiful. The room was big but cozy enough to make it feel like home.
very nice hotel, excellent service. the location is the best, it is in the middle of Boston and has everything in one step
Loved the stay. Very clean and people there are so polite
Extremely small room, complicated mobility and no space to open the suitcase. The only good thing about the hotel is its staff, very friendly and attentive. Not very recommendable
Right in the heart of Downtown Boston, this Park Plaza is a wonderfully modern, casual and elegant
Nice, modern rooms. Accommodating staff. We really enjoyed our stay.
Superior hotel in the best position in Boston. New gymnasium attached to hotel absolute bonus. Staff wonderful, rooms spacious. Great Irish pub next door and Boston Common a few minutes away.
Extremely overpriced for what you get. Coffee pot in room did not work, room service stops at 11:00PM. That makes no sense for people getting out of the Theater after a night performance. Staff was ok, not outstanding. For what you pay, you should at least be able to drink coffee out of a glass mug instead of a paper cup
This is where my new favorite Starbucks is located so I love to go there.
Nice looking hotel, the service is somewhat helpful and they try their best
Clean modern rooms. The room was a bit small, the pillows were lumpy, and the shower had issues
Excellent food, quality rooms, professional service. Excellent stay.
Super centrally located hotel, close to beautiful shopping streets and a beautiful park
good location
gym is perfect
good service
I'm not entirely sure the room was worth the price but it was nice otherwise
Smallest room I've ever stayed in. However, smartly designed and comfortable.
The place was clean, the bed comfortable but during breakfast they didn't say there was a charge of 25 per person plus we arrived at the time u are supposed to check in and their answer was your room is not ready, come back in an hour and a half but leave us your number and we will call if it's ready earlier. They never call.
Recently updated rooms. Looks nice, did a good job despite the limited amount of space in the room. Nice having power outlets next to the bed that aren't hidden behind the nightstand.
I was amazing. An impressive room, very clean, is very convenient so many good places around.
We were here as we messed up our booking in another hotel. We need a room fast and affordable too. Nice ambiance and staff were extremely friendly. I recon higher floor if one needed peaceful uninterrupted sleep. Was okay for me and my boyfriend but certainly we did not expect to be waking up by the construction noise on the opposite building. Overall was alright thou.
Expensive in relation quality price in comparison to other hotels. Small room
What an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in I felt like a VIP. Thanks for everything
Okay but for their prices they should be more custoner friendly - I lost my necless and they did'nt find it
Comfortable and well located. Whether for business or leisure.
Loved the location and feel of this hotel. Very close to Boston Commons. Super comfy beds, and very fancy lobby. Only gave 4 stars due to thin walls, otherwise excellent stay.
