I was assigned to a doctor by BMC healthnet that does not even accept their plan, and was not even accepting new patients. They go through a list of doctor's closest to you and just pick that one. Very confusing, and disappointing.

This plan deserves no stars. Many PCP's have dumped them and they have not updated their website. I am on hold now and have been for 29 minutes. Just horrible and UNACCEPTABLE and I can't dump them until November!!

Silver tier is horrible. The co-pays are huge, and most of my medications are tier 2 or not covered. I spend $325 a month after co-pays for 2 diabetes meds and 2 inhalers for asthma. Blood work cost $23 and if it needs to be sent to another lab that's additional. I won't get into Dr. Copays/ER or specialized Healthcare. I do not recommend this plan.

Website is a mess. Coverage is not good. Can't get reasonable answers. Sent in a good chase for a broken foot. Honestly, I've got a few broken bones and this was a nightmare. I can't imagine what it must be like for someone with more complicated and severe health issues.

Made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon at Mass General. Receptionist there could not tell me if my BMC plan would pay for my visit, suggested I call BMC to check. First call to BMC I was told my doctor is not in network and I had to get a Prior Authorization Form from my PCP. Called my PCP and was told BMC has never approved a Prior Authorization Form from their office. Relayed this info to BMC on my 2nd call to them. I was then told that my surgeon was in their network and all I needed was a procedure code from the surgeons' office. I got that code and just got off the phone with BMC where I was told that the surgeon is not in the BMC network and I need a Prior Authorization Form! What a cluster f#@*!

Spoke to BMC HealthNet Plan by phone, and I'm completely satisfied with my experience. Excellent customer service, I felt like I was truly valued as opposed to just another member. My questions and needs were addressed immediately and appropriately, and were resolved by the customer service agent. She was very kind and helpful, also directed me to their online site which I was unaware of.

It's pretty easy to pick your OWN Dr.

It's pretty easy to pick your OWN Dr.
Just make a few calls to local clinics in your area and see what issuance they take.
I did. Both my kids have had BMC since birth and I've NEVER had an issue..
It's not that hard to figure out if you actually take the time to do it.
Be thankful you even HAVE insurance.

I paid my new insurance to start in December.. I called to simply find out the reason for not having received my card... they asked me to hold while they look at my account and then as I waited, the individual hung up on me. I didn t apply and go to the interview for her to be working where she works, my only advice is that if you hate your job then quit and pursue your dreams.

They claim that the office is open at 8 am, but when I arrived there were at least 8 people waiting outside at 8:15 am. Very unprofessional. Many people have work from 9-5 and couldn t wait for the employees to arrive and actually do their jobs like they re suppose to.

Let me leave a very honest review. I think the reason a lot of these people are frustrated is fair, but the reason they are misguided is because HEALTH INSURANCE IN GENERAL IN THIS COUNTRY IS A MESS. I ve had 3 plans and it s all the same. The key is, YOU HAVE TO PUT EFFORT INTO THE WHOLE ORDEAL. And in my experience, MOST PEOPLE DON T PUT EFFORT INTO MUCH OF ANYTHING YET HAVE UNREASONABLY HIGH EXPECTATIONS. I put a lot of effort but have an incredible doctor, very close to my home and it s great.

I had no choice but to have this plan. In April all of sturdy associates were thrown into the BMCHP. So unless I wanted to find a new primary care, oncologist, gynecologist, orthopedic, surgeons, gastroenterologist and other doctors I was stuck with this insurance. I've got major health problems. I have had spinals for over 9 years, every 10 to 12 weeks for degenerative bone disease in my spine, they decided they were not going to let all the people that had to switch with all their doctors from sturdy to the BMCHP that needed spinals, were not able to get them. So had to fight 7 months with BMCHP for my spinals, in the mean time I was getting none ,becoming less and less mobile every day,to the point of becoming bed ridden. After my doctors, physical therapists, and family watched me deteriorate and were all fighting to get my spinals back, I got them half back. They added a consultation in between every spinal which is a wasted cost, since my spinal team cover everything 3 times over from the time I get their till I leave during my regular spinal visits. Now I get my right half done, then 2 weeks later get a consultation to see if I need my left side done. So then I will get an appointment 2 weeks after that for my left side. So by the time my left side gets done my right side will be wearing off. So I stay in pain constantly. So its double the appointments, double the injections, double having to be put under anesthesia. They have done nothing but cause people and families more harm ,more sorrow, aggravation, inconvenience, pain, messed up peoples lives, families lives, doctors lives watching their patients suffer and keeping their hands tied. Dictating how they should do injections. BMCHP has chosen to tell my spinal doctor how to do my injections half at a time instead of letting my spinal doctor do what's best for me,what has been working for me. BMCHP has chosen for me to be in pain 100% of the time versus letting my doctor do what he was doing keeping me out of pain 50 to 60% of the time. If you want an insurance that dictates to your doctor how to do their job, then this is the insurance for you. The sad part is if I leave this insurance I can go back to the other Mass health insurance I was on and covers me getting my full spinal instead of half at a time, but I lose all my other doctors who fought for me to get my half spinals. If I could of put minus stars I would. They dont deserve even 1 star from this family.

I am extremely pleased with my experience with BMC. I received an extremely high bill from my doctor which seemed wildly incorrect. I called BMC to dispute and was connected to Aileen. She not only helped me take care of the bill, but we learned that BMC was never even contacted in regards to the bill! Aileen was kind, attentive, and seemed genuinely invested in resolving my problem.

The only reason I put 1 star is because there isn't a way to put MINUS 1 star. Horrible insurance with rookie doctors, and doctors that don't seem to care. I've been waiting 6 months to get an MRI and I'm still waiting to see the neurosurgeon to talk to about my fractures in my spine and neck.

Most of these people complaining must not know what it's like to pay hundreds a month for health insurance and still have copays and barely any health benefits. I am very thankful for bmc and masshealth. Hold times may be long but I've always had excellent customer service when I call.

Helder Varela Is a race war starting monster. I am working with my legislators to make sure this company which employees such a moral wrong being gets some sort of penealty. I will make sure everyone knows what kind of company you run and I will make sure all my states officials as well as friends continue to express their feelings via comments and through phone calls to our senator. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I was a patient for 2 1/2 years. I will never, ever be a patient again. I was overcharged, charged for services I never had. The health insurance customer service is useless, unreliable and irresponsible. I called the customer service phone number more than 30 times. I was promised an answer and resolution for my overcharged fees. I got no call back, EVER. I spoke to managers, supervisors to no avail. KEEP AWAY FROM BMC HEALTHNET PLAN!!!

Their physicians aren't within convenient locations for patients. If transportation is arranged. They'd leave patients stranded within other various cities. Masshealth needs to fix health care. I'll start going to the emergency room for health care. There are plenty of different locations locally where BMC could open convenient clinic locations. Instead of sending patients to various cities.

I have bmc healthnet. As a transgender person I m eligible for implants. On 10-14-20 i had implants put in at mgh by Dr Curtis L Cetrullo . He totally botched the surgery putting in a completely different type of implant half the size he told me I was getting. Ive been struggling trying to get assistance from my health insurance bmc healthnet for a week now. They put me in touch with tjeor worker Laura Delaney she keeps talking over me , calling me by my dead name and wrong pronouns. Also they had me speak to their complaints department. After a protracted conversation im told by them there is nothing they can do, it will be up to the Dr who put them in if he would like to male the revisions or not. Lol what? So then why does your department exist?

I have been a member for almost a year now. I have been through three different PCP and STILL do not have one that accepts the insurance, despite contacting BMC twice about this. The first PCP they gave me eventually no longer accepted my insurance, which I only found out after I went to get her contact info. Then I found another replacement through BMC's (horribly inefficient and unreliable) database only to call his office to find out they don't accept my insurance either. My advice is to search for local doctors independently, see if they accept your insurance and then go from there. Because BMC doesn't help one bit.

First time I called i was given old and wrong numbers and unable to fill my prescriptions. I called back from the pharmacy and the man who answered at 6pm was amazing and super helpful. I had been waiting days already for my medications because BMC is no longer allowed at Walgreens, so I had to move everything to walmart.

Awful. I have a medication which runs on a 14 day supply. BMC/Envision refuse to allow me to refill the medication until day 15. So if I happen to have to work on a day 15 - I go the entire day without my medication. Envision said that not having my medication for work was "Not a good enough reason to override it." Being treated like a number instead of a human being. Switching insurance asap.

By far the worst insurance company. I've called them numerous times and every time they put me on hold, they hang up. They had me in their system as a non Massachusetts resident, yet every month they send me my bill to my MA address to pay. Explain that one. No one seems to know what they are doing. Not sure if they get properly trained.

About Boston Medical Center Healthnet Plan

Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan: Affordable Health Insurance for Massachusetts Residents

Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan (BMCHP) is a non-profit managed care organization that provides affordable health insurance programs to qualifying Massachusetts residents. BMCHP offers a range of health insurance options, including MassHealth, ConnectorCare, and Qualified Health Plans (QHPs), to help individuals and families access quality healthcare services.

MassHealth is a state-sponsored program that provides free or low-cost health coverage to eligible Massachusetts residents. MassHealth covers a wide range of medical services, including doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, and behavioral health services. BMCHP partners with MassHealth to offer comprehensive healthcare coverage to its members.

ConnectorCare is another affordable health insurance option available through the Massachusetts Health Connector. ConnectorCare plans are designed for individuals and families who do not qualify for MassHealth but still need financial assistance to pay for their healthcare costs. BMCHP offers several ConnectorCare plans with varying levels of benefits and premiums.

In addition to MassHealth and ConnectorCare, BMCHP also offers QHPs through the Massachusetts Health Connector. QHPs are private health insurance plans that meet certain standards set by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). These plans provide essential health benefits such as preventive care, emergency services, prescription drug coverage, and more.

BMCHP's mission is to improve the overall health status of its members by providing access to high-quality healthcare services at an affordable cost. The organization works closely with healthcare providers across the state of Massachusetts to ensure that its members receive timely and appropriate medical care.

One of the key features of BMCHP's programs is its focus on preventive care. The organization encourages its members to take an active role in their own healthcare by offering wellness programs such as smoking cessation classes, weight management programs, and diabetes management classes.

BMCHP also provides additional support services such as transportation assistance for medical appointments and language interpretation services for non-English speaking members. These resources help ensure that all members have equal access to quality healthcare regardless of their socioeconomic status or cultural background.

Overall, Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan offers a variety of affordable health insurance options designed specifically for qualifying Massachusetts residents. With a focus on preventive care and member support services like transportation assistance or language interpretation service; it aims at improving overall public-health status in MA while ensuring everyone has equal access regardless socio-economic background or cultural differences.
