Do not purchase a Nook from Barnes and Noble. They will only support the product for a certain period of time meaning at some point, long before it breaks or you get tired of it, it will cease to function. Spend the extra cash up front with a superior company like Apple, Amazon, or Google that stands behind and supports their products for the entire life-cycle.

The setup is way to disorganized with too much cluttering every turn. Boxes still unopened on the floor as trip.hazard, large books on the lowest shelf laid flat that hang over the corners into the walk way. The music is the most annoying thing. Way too loud, and why is it pop/rnb like we are in a club. It doesn't feel like a book/music store. Its basically a big lots.

I like to set down in a queit place, and read a book. Yeah some people due do it. The people at Barnes and Noble helped me find the books I wanted. And if not in the store they were willing to find it on line and get it to me. When the power goes out a candle for reading works just fine...Beeman Dan from O'markeys honey farm.

This Barnes & Noble has an excellent layout, there's a wide selection of books for all ages. They have DVDs, music, calendars, games, and collectables. Also, upstairs there is a children's area and a corner with toys (including educational one), games, and similar items designed for kids.

I'd like to give XERO stars. My visit to B and N in Ann Arbor was totally unsatisfactory. I had an email text book reward, for making a many-hundreds-of-dollars book purchase. The reward mentioned no expiration date. When I went to spend it today I was told that it had expired. There was DEFINITELY no expiration date mentioned on the reward email. The store told me to call the customer service. I was sent to three different people on the phone and no-one was willing to acknowledge that the email was misleading and false. They refused to honor the reward which was for over $60. Amazon is getting my business from now on. They know the meaning of customer service!

Checking out, we were asked if we would like to fill out a membership form. Being that we have recently become costumers and plan to continue to shop at B&N more frequently, we said sure. Not once were we told there would be a $25.00 fee to become a member.##!. We feel this should have either been mentioned or signage stating the charge.
If this was an over site by your employee, then I would suggest additional training. If this is a store policy, I feel it should be changed.

Cafe is a not a suitable place to work if that is your intent. Baristas are very loud amongst themselves. Had to leave to do my homework somewhere else. Mighty Good Coffee across the street is the place to should go.

The giant chain bookstore, which also sells music CD's, vinyl records, and DVD's. The periodical section of magazines & literary journals is huuuge!! That, to me, is one of the best parts of B & N!! They must stock over a hundred different poetry & literature journals! Plus the best of the music magazines, including sporadic copies of Maximum Rock-n-Roll! Excellent selection of all the mainstream publishers, plus a huge inventory of the Bear & Company, Inner Traditions, and Park Street Press pseudo-independent books. Lots of comfortable chairs and couches and a Starbucks Coffee shop downstairs. B & N is really good about allowing you to loiter for hours & hours while reading and meditating. My only real gripe is that there is absolutely NO discount on new releases or back titles! Ever since Border's (a local Ann Arbor company, btw) went out of business B & N seems to be thriving. I for one hope they stick around, they're needed!

Book ordering is painless and staff was very helpful. The cafeteria/starbucks is a huge bonus. If you go there be sure to get something to eat instead of just coffee because it is different from(better than) a normal Starbucks.

I was browsing for a book I wanted to buy discreetly, however, it was anything but. The employee I asked for help (black short haired guy, glasses) refused to look at my phone (treating me like I'm a dirty person) and then basically shouted the title across the store.

I am a voracious reader, and Barnes and Noble respects that. This particular 2-story shop has a phenomenal children's area that makes it enjoyable for parents to read to kids as well as the kids to snuggle up to their parents. My favorite section of Barnes and Noble is the extensive autobiography shelves; I respect whoever decides which books to stock there because they're eclectic and deviate from the mainstream.

The Kids area is fun at this B&N location. My daughter and I had a great time sharing a snack at the coffee shop, playing at the train table, and picking out a book to take home with us. Easier without a stroller though!

If you're anything like me, the last book you purchased may have been ordered online. Thank goodness for this beautiful Barnes & Noble. Whenever we need to touch and feel a book, we like this store for their spacious accommodations. The store feels very warm and comfortable with a large children's section upstairs where my kids could peruse books for hours. There are a few places to sit and read with children in this section, and a small play area for toddlers. The entry level, among the book sections, includes a section of toys and games, magazines, and cafe.

Prices can be higher than some online competitors, but I don't mind the added cost on occasion as I would hate to see them go away. If you're price comparing your selections online and can't afford this retailer's costs, consider splitting up your order and giving them part of your business.

Clean and well organized for the most part. Customer service could use some small improvements overall and Barnes and Nobles is a little bit pricey for my tastes but overall a good branch in the line.

Amazon wins every time : Went to the store, thinking it should be faster than ordering online since the item is listed as available. 1. I could not find the book in the store and that's no big surprise since B&N has no item locator in place like most other stores. 2. One employee in the store would not help - He told me to go to the customer service desk. 3. Waited 10 mins at the customer service desk... - they confirmed that there is no easy way to locate a book / item in the store. 3. They found the book for me. 4. Waited for another 10 mins to pay. 5. Price was not as advertised online and the cashier would not (or could not) apply the advertised discount = She told me to order it online w/ in-store pickup on the spot using my cell phone - and to please go back to the end of the line to pick it up!!!!!! 6. I went back home and ordered the book from Amazon in 5 minutes - it's cheaper, shipping is free and I'll get it on time. B&N is on a deadly path and it's not hard to understand why...

Unfortunately, this latest visit was a bad one. I checked online for a title, which said it was in stock, and drove the hour trek to the store. When I arrived I asked for some assistance in locating the book, an employee showed me the section and went on about their business. I ended up finding similar subject books in an entirely different section and asked again, still no book. Clerks were not overly helpful and seemed bothered to be asked questions. Probably will not be going back.
