Beautiful setting and restaurant. Bar and waiting areas got a little tight but the crowd and wait was a sign of the goodness to come- food was delicious! Enjoyed the shrimp and grits and key lime pie. Definitely worth the visit!

It was a Friday night in late September and it was crowded. It was LOUD! We were a party of six; the only way for all of us to have a group conversation was to yell! Also, wait service was very sparse despite being on the "path to food". Our server spoke to us a total of maybe 4 times. The greet, the order inquiry, the 2nd order inquiry(we weren't ready 1st time), and when we had to stop him in his tracks to get the bill. That was it. Prices are quite high and I would expect better service when I pay 24$ for a maybe 6oz piece of fish sitting on top of a sparse collection of carbs and vegs. 24$ no salad or soup choice and that was maybe the average price on the menu for an entree.
We loved this place! The atmosphere is exceptionally nice. We waited at the bar and had drinks (they don t take reservations). It was a short wait. The dishes we tried: scallops- excellent. Strip steak, excellent. Calamari OMG! The best flash fried, light coating, tender. The shrimp dumplings OMG! Fabulous! Old Bay Ribs - nope. Totally overpowering old bay flavor, nobody liked them, so beware of that one. Overall, we loved it! We ll be back. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Enjoy!
I have had the most wonderful response from my previous review! Please know we love this restaurant! My concerns have been addressed. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I always try to find new places to dine whether we are at home or away and using Google as we are not familiar to the area, stumbled upon Bluecoast last week on my way home from OCMD.
And what a great place! A lot of windows, and we sat in a big booth overlooking what I believe was a back bay water area. So nice view!
Our food, drinks, and service were outstanding! We tried the deviled eggs, shaved brussel sprouts. My husband had the lobster cavatappi, and I had a seared tuna dish. And I tried their pineapple infused vodka martini.
Highly recommend Bluecoast if you are in the. Rehoboth area.
This is one of my favorite spots in the Bethany Beach area. We have been coming down from Upstate NY for over 10 years and there s no way my kids would ever let us leave without having dinner at Bluecoast. This has become a tradition for a lifetime. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is is clean and relaxing. The staff is great. In fact, our server is someone who has served us a few times in past. My son recognized him.
We ordered a bunch of great appetizers including the baby lobster tails, steamers and of course, the raw oysters. Their selection is always incredible and the freshest. For entrees we went with the lobster cavatappi. The kids devoured that. We also ordered the Toragashi Seared Tuna and the Seafood Stew. Incredible.
The food was served on time and there was always staff to help with most requests.
A definite experience you don t want to miss. There is usually a wait so get there on the earlier side. We went about 6:30 and was seated fairly quickly. If you wait to 7-7:30, you may be waiting for about 25-30 minutes. However, you ll be able to order apps and drinks while you wait. And don t forget to take a pic in the back of the sunset over the bay!
Unpleasantly loud for an evening meal. When not even full, the restaurant was so noisy that a dinner conversation was impossible. Our table of three located near the entrance meant listening to the boisterous patrons against the wall who sounded drunk. We were treated to their loud laughter and occasional profanity. We were eager to leave.
Nice place but a bit overpriced. We felt rushed and the place was not packed. Food was being served before we could finish our salads and bread. From the time we walked in until the time we paid and left....35 minutes. If I'm going to pay that much money, let me enjoy my dinner and the atmosphere and not be so rushed.
My halibut was the best I ve ever had. This place along with Matt s fish camp were just incredible. The shrimp dumplings and scallops were delicious and unique. Great atmosphere and great sunset over the bay. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will be back many times.
What happened?! Since 2002 was our favorite restaurant within 30 miles of Bethany. We are not too demanding, even at these prices. Certainly am not a food-snob or service - nazi. Still, it is time to find a new favorite. I have usually had the filet mignon ... Which used to be exceptional. (Except off season when it is not available.) Last year we noticed the drop in quality of food both in presentation and preparation (medium rare steak order arrived medium well; and service staff has become surprisingly brusk). This year both the food and the atmosphere has become unacceptable at this price point. The small space was overwhelmed with intoxicated, loud groups. We're sad to have lost such a treasure. If you are going to drop a couple hundred dollars to treat your family to a nice meal, you can do better.
Arrived for happy hour and stayed for dinner. Had the choice to stay at the bar or.move to the dining area, we chose to move for a view of the water. Great beverage selection. Delicious appetizer and fantastic meal. Friendly service. Pricey, but worth it.
the kids salmon has no flavor, is always burnt and never tastes good. It also took an hour for them to give it to me, but other then that it s alright.
We we're here on our vacation. It was our one nice meal for our week. Everything was delicious and came out hot. We even had out little one with us and it didn't seem to be a problem at all. The food was a bit pricey though.
Great view and wonderful food. Steak was great and seafood is always top notch. However, the last time I ordered the tuna the noodles were prepared very uneven. On the upside, the soft-shell was one of the best we have had!
The food was alright but the service was poor. We waited an hour to be seated while other people who arrived after us got a table. The hostesses seemed annoyed when we asked when we would be seated and just weren't friendly. The fish was dry, didn't seem fresh, and was tasteless. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't go there again.
This place is awesome. Bit of a wait on weekends, but totally worth it. Good cocktail options, extensive wine list, and HUGE menu with lots of great seafood options!!!
Always a good spot, just expect to wait a bit. The red sangria is garbage, told the bartender and kept watching them get sent back all night. Everything else was amazing
We had dinner for our anniversary and loved Bluecoast. Crabcakes, oysters and soft shell crabs were all excellent. The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
We were paying thru to NC and have been vacationing in in Delaware over 30 years and never stopped. Glad I did. Wow...food is so unique and what a bay side view. Going back this summer and I WILL stop again!
Service by Sara was impeccable. The specials and fresh rockfish were cooked to perfection. Would recommend for cocktails for happy hour and a nice dinner out.
You pay for high quality food. Bill can get big quick but well worth the money. Food is excellent and always hits the spot. Can get busy on weekends and holiday weeks. This is expect of a high quality restaurant. Anybody who puts down this place either doesn t know good food or expects the world to bend for them. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great meal.
Friendly & helpful staff. Fresh, well prepared seafood dishes, good drink & very good wine selection. Family friendly. Not a quiet date spot but a good one none the less because of the quality of the over experience. Would recommend Bluecoast & will try again.
Hidden gem! Tonite we had Duck, medium rare, of course, and the cook's own duck scrapple. What a treat. Fantastic wine selection, too. Ill be back for oysters....
Great spot for seafood in a lovely setting. The mixed drinks aren't the best but the food makes up for it. The pics of tables on the bay on their website are misleading. They are only for private events. Their outdoor seating is nice but faces the parking lot. This winter they do have heat lamps outside.
Monkfish was phenomenal. Tuna was phenomenal. This is coming from a non-seafood fan! The baby lobster tails and crab tots were a hit. Great views, great staff, must go!
Wonderful ambience and great staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious! Had a frozen painkiller...Bladen our server explained that that machine that makes the painkiller frozen was broken earlier that day, but was semi-working now. I said that having it over ice was okay. It was yummy! By the time I had the second one, the machine was totally operational and even more yummy! My hubby had a wonderful drink with cucumber vodka and pineapple/basil infused simple syrup...it was excellent! The calamari was tender and melted in our mouths! I had grilled salmon off the daily fish board and my hubby had the halibut off the daily fish board. And we both enjoyed the sauce drizzled on our plates...stupendous creativity! Both were mouth watering and finished with much relish! He even had room for a warm brownie topped with peanut butter ice cream. It looked like he enjoyed tremendously...there was nothing left on his plate! Blade was an attentive server and had much information about the menu to impart and she answered any questions we had. We had a great meal and look forward to going back soon!
What else to say???? Hmmmm..... Matt was great, oh yeah we already know that. Great happy hour menu, also already been said. Hmmm. The food!!!! Perfectly done mussels, melted in my mouth. Shrimp dumplings so fresh with the pesto mousse, and the Brussel sprout salad. Omg. The Brussel sprout salad. Brussel sprouts.... Really? Yes yes yes. Do not miss the shaved Brussel sprouts!!!! I promise
Great wine selection with a knowledgeable bartender who was able to give appropriate recommendations. Raw bar had a great selection of local and common fare, clean and fast shucking with a nice beachy atmosphere.
Just not our type of place! The young servers are eager to please but obviously not seasoned. If you don't happen to travel in a party of 4 you don't have a chance to sit near the windows with the best views. The fried catfish steamed buns appetizer special was very good, but the rest of our dinner (filet mignon, buddha bowl, fish on chips) did not impress. The icebox pie with strawberry ice cream and meringue was too frozen to be edible.
Great happy hour drinks and seafood specials at the bar. Dinner overlooking the bay was beautiful and delicious! Don't miss dessert it was also memorable!
Post weekend visit..dinner and bottle(s) There are a number of really good places to dine drink from rehobeth to OC..and then there are two handfulls of really great places to enjoy great food drink..excellent swordfish and crab cakes Sat nite.. oysters were wonderful..you don't need to dress them ... And of course it's $$$$..but it's deserved and appropriate...nice job blue coast!
Umm..that was outstanding...have wanted to try this spot for awhile...should not have waited for so long From service to drinks to food..and the food was awesome Already heads up my boys that this is our next stop
Went for happy hour but got the bum's rush by the bartender after a few drinks because he wanted our seats for his friends that arrived. Needless to say we didn't stay for dinner.
The food and service were great. We had veal meatloaf, crab carbonara, oysters, fried calamari, and deviled eggs. Shrimp Dumplings were awesome. Everything was cooked perfectly. Definitely will go again.
AH-MAZ-ING! Been wanting to try this place for years, and glad we did. Everything was delicious! Service was great. The oysters were tasty, fish was fresh and served with flavorful side combinations. The calamari was very good. Even the desserts & spicy margarita were great. Go..Now!
I cannot say enough about this place. The food was fresh and well prepared. We loved the seafood with such a variety of preparations to choose from as well. Our server was fantastic. He was very knowledgable of the menu and made great recommendations. We were there on a half off wine bottle night which was perfect for indulging after bot having been out to a restaurant in a very long time. We would have stayed eating all night but decided to open up a table for you! We will be back again as soon as the weather warms up! Thank you the amazing first date out in many months experience! It was well worth it and all servers were very prepared for sanitation standards! Well done everyone! I cannot wait to come back!
Beautiful day .... Was seated in 15 mins on a popular Saturday night. Calamari appetizer was great... But the scallops .... Unreal...best scallops of my life, came with brussel sprouts, bacon, and mustard seed. The rest of the table got Soft Shell Crab dinner and Shrimp and Grits. Love this place. Highly recommend.
