Whenever we visit our favorite state-side vacation...

Whenever we visit our favorite state-side vacation area, Bethany Beach- no visit is complete without a trip to Bluecoast.

The theme of my review is above and beyond, because that it what we experienced during our most recent trip: above and beyond service from the entire staff.

Upon arriving at Bluecoast, we were informed of the 1.5 hr wait. Having come to Bluecoast every summer, we knew to expect the wait. The hostess went above and beyond to find a place for us to sit while we waited outside as my five-year old son was tired from a long, fun day at the beach.

The outdoor area is as enjoyable as the interior of the restaurant. Comfortable 'beach chique' furniture, and pleasant lighting.

After we found seats, a server greeted us. To say he was busy, was an understatement. But despite his workload, he too treated us with sheer kindness and gave us wonderful service.

While it happens every time we go to Bluecoast, It's always hard to believe that some people can find a reason to complain about an expected wait at a beautiful, beach-side restaurant that provides great service, and keeps the champagne and wine flowing. Despite the beatings that the staff takes, they keep their good service, respect, and charm at full speed at all times.

Our outside server came to check on us, refilling drinks, checking in on the status of our wait. He was wonderful.

After our wait, the charming hostess took us to our table. Our server was outstanding. She thanked us for our patience during the wait, and flawlessly described the specials, answered questions, and replenished our drinks.

The little guy was pretty tired after the wait (it was nearly 10 pm by this point), so we opted to have appetizers and his entree at the table (which he loved), while taking the adults in our parties' entrees home.

Our server was completely understanding and had the waitstaff pack our entrees to go.

As always, the food did not disappoint. From the soft shell crab entree,to the crab carbonara - each dish was a hit.

Bluecoast is worth the wait. Every time. Bluecoast is always the highlight of our vacation.

Thank you, Bluecoast, for always being such a special treat for us! We cannot wait until our next visit.

Great food! Our waitress, Hope, was very knowledgable and helpful with the menu. Everything was very good! Glad to find this place and I recommend it. Go midweek and early to avoid a line

After an evening of shopping, my wife and I had a taste for seafood. This us our second time having dinner at Bluecoast Seafood Grill. The manager was friendly. Our waitress was professional and courteous. Our meal was great. Overall great experience. We plan to visit again.

Not bad. Not great. Service was very friendly and has awarded them an additional star. Menu has some traditional items with some brave twists. Not always in my flavor house, but what I ordered did taste good. Worth the visit to formulate your own opinion.

I had a really good experience with my family. What stood out was the really well prepared fresh fish and the super attentive staff. There is a great wine menu and a decent variety of beer. If there is anything that I would change it would be to raise the lighting level just a bit. After the sun set, it was pretty dark in the restaurant. Would definitely come again next time we are in the area.

Arrived a few minutes ahead of the other 2 in our party. Inside hostess(all 4 of them), a bit snarky. Certainly immature and smug. We were told to wait outside. When the other 2 arrived, went back in and we were seated. Not sure why we couldn't have been seated in the first place. The rest of the evening was pleasant. Our server was excellent. Food was good but a bit expensive. Very noisy and crowded. Bar area is in the front entrance and a tight squeeze. For a restaurant of this size, only one (1) restroom for each sex is underwhelming. Not sure I would go back to this particular place.

EXCELLENT dinner. Great service. My seared Tuna was insane !
Four people on our group, everyone had different plates and everyone said it was the best they ever had. Fried lobster appetizer was excellent.
can be a little noisy but worth it.

Dined here on Thursday night. Had the scallop dish. The scallops were over about 2 teaspoons of orzo and in a very bitter liquid gravy type sauce. They were lukewarm. My husband's tuna came out cold as well. We sent both dishes back. They were a little burnt when they came back! The place was very noisy and had to wait 40 minutes for a table. We ate here years ago and the quality was great! Not worth dining here, not a relaxing place. Everyone is running around! The waitress was kind enough to take the value of my meal off the check! Thank you! Linda

My first time here. Wow, what great food. I had the Steamed Clams and Fried oysters Rockefeller. They were spectacular. They offer a full raw bar, featuring several type of oysters. The staff is very friendly and Happy hour is 3-6pm which featured oysters today. A great restaurant. I will definitely be back.

had dinner there food was warm, appetizers came out one ay a time, ordered 2 side dishes, they never came we weren't charged for them. we hadn't been to blue coast for a while, about 2 years ago everything was fine. this visit only choice of beef was butcher and chef steak, no filet mignon or strip steak.we were very issapointed.

My wife and I have been driving past this place for years but we never stopped until about two weeks ago. And we've been back twice since then. They've got a great happy hour (bar only) from 4-6 on Monday's to Friday's. Select draft beers are $3. This includes craft beers, not just the regular domestics. There's also $1 oysters (go for the Salty Kiss Oysters they're super delicious) as well as the deviled eggs. The eggs have a nice piece of lump crab meet on them as well as a sliver of jalapeno. It's a delicious bite and you'll probably want more than a few. You could order off the regular menu but you might as well go for the crab cake sandwich on the happy hour menu because it's $12 and also a great deal for what you get. We're big fans of this place and will be back soon.

FANTASTIC! Food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. Great water front view from main dining area. They don't take reservations but well worth the wait. Highly recommend this SoDel group restaurant.

Took over 10 minutes for a waiter come to our table. Swedish meatballs were decent but I was not impressed with the presentation of the meal it was served on a very large plate so half of the plate had nothing on it very small portion of mashed potatoes as well. One bottle of blue moon was six dollars I find that quite overpriced. Wines are outrageously priced 30 dollar wines are being sold at 75 dollars outrageous!

Fresh oysters & clams and a creative seafood menu plus one of the better wine lists along the beach make this a very popular spot. The fresh cut, flash-fried calamari is spot-on and the grilled octopus was fabulous.
Helpful hint: Get there early.

The food was excellent (8 persons in our group all agreed).
The staff was apparently short-handed. Every interaction with the staff was met with indifference and their desire to get away from the table as quickly as possible. Every request was delivered eventually, but the staff was actually curt to the point of being rude.

We hit on half price wine night and enjoyed a bottle of pinot grigio with our shared shrimp dumplings and spinach salad, both delicious. The entree of seared halibut was simple and satisfying. The dining room view of Salt Pond is gorgeous. We will be back.

Calamari was good, Oyster shooter was good. Prices, and our meals on the other hand the worst! The smell and flavor was terrible. We felt ill the rest of the night. We will never go back.

Awesome food! The service and food were absolutely fabulous. Everyone at my table was licking their plate clean it was so good. Seafood is clearly fresh and the plating of the food was done with finesse.

The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because the parking lot is a mess (not paved so you end up walking through muddy puddles), they don't take reservations and the place fills up fast, and it's quite noisy inside. I do like their outside patio to enjoy while waiting for a table.

We have been regulars at the Blue Coast for years. Their food, whether fish or beef, has always been tasty. Not so this past Friday. We won't return in the future. The steak special featured was so tough I couldn't cut it with their steak knife! It was garnished with blanched yellow and green beans (cold) and a few pieces of watermelon. Also ordered a wedge salad and it was difficult to cut. It looked as if it had been prepared by someone brand new to a kitchen. The wait staff were pleasant but the young ladies posing as hostesses were a bit uppity. Management is clueless. They've lost it and our business in the process!

Incredible find on the Delaware/ Maryland line. Beautiful views especially at sunset. Great selection of foods for all tastes. You do have to realize your geographical location. There is an overload of crab based dishes which again should be expected in this area. Prices are a tad high but wildly average compared to restaurants in the area. The service here was second to none. I dont expect a server to refill drinks without being asked, but I commend them when they do. While visiting we ordered a variety of dishes (raw, kids, adult) and not a bad plate to be found. I would be half as eager if we hadn't stopped at a few places prior to picking this restaurant. I will return here without a doubt.

Food is good, but overpriced for the atmosphere. Good oyster selection, soup good, service average. Used to be better when first opened, now not so great. Other better places to spend my money.
