We were looking for a place where 4 families could spend time together between paintball, river rafting, etc. This was exactly what we wanted. There's a restaurant & bar onsite to make logistics easy. There's a cool fire pit, plus volley ball and other outdoor games. Breakfast was far better than I expected for a free breakfast. It was hearty, tasty, and set us up for the day.

Sharon and Marty are excellent hosts. They were quick to respond, amazingly patient with the 20 of us, and great to talk to. Price was good, room was clean.

If you need a rustic place to hang out with family in the the Adirondacks, you could do a lot worse.

All 4 families will be back.

It was my first time back at the Black Mountain Lodge in a few years. It is one of the best spots to stay if skiing at Gore Mt however it is not cheap. The restraunt is great and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are nice but some things are a little outdated such as the bathroom and the tvs. Also, the wifi is not great unless you are in the restraunt.

This is only a review of the restaurant as we have a vacation home in North creek.
We were very happy to hear the restaurant was open and a close drive for us. We had Nick serving us, very friendly and accommodating. Burgers were delicious! and the chips were homemade and crispy just how I like them. Pizza wasn't fantastic but we are from Jesrsy so kinda fussy about that however the next day cold it was very good. We will be back. Best of luck to the new owners.

We were staying at the lodge and decided to have dinner here since we lost our outdoor reservation in Lake George due to rain. BEST decision ever!! The food is beyond good. Coming from NYC it takes a lot for me to pull out my phone and start writing a good review. The BEST chicken wings I've ever had .. hands down! We had a Greek salad (fresh, more than enough for 3 people), crispy chicken sandwich, lemon pepper chicken wings and teriyaki chicken wings with a side of chili cheese fries. The fries were again enough for 3 people and was addictive! That good! The service friendly and excellent. Highly recommend this place if you're around Lake George area.

Check in took a while, but they were flexible and respondant to questions. Heat WAS working, but maxxed out at about 60. Given that it was 9 degrees outside that night, though, we were surprisingly warm! Pretty average hotel for average price!

We came to Gore to ski for the day & wanted to have dinner before heading to our hotel. After asking many locals & figuring out there aren't many places to eat in the area, they recommended we come here and said its hit or miss for good food but the menu was pretty big. Well, it wasn't. There were maybe 6 things to chose from. Apparently the chef was off this day & the owner told us "chefs can't work 7 days a week". We ordered a chicken Caesar salad (very bland & plain - $8) to share. We also ordered a dozen (very dry) wings & a grilled chicken sandwich. $42 later we left. Not satisfied at all! Won't be back...

Sharon and Marty nailed the southern hospitality upon check in through checkout. They are new owners. Amazing people. Very genuine. The room is very clean and cozy. Newly remodeled. The fridge is big enough for essentials. However Marty and Sharon have no problem making a beautiful cooked to order breakfast every morning included with your stay. Amazing. Thank you. We will be back next summer.

Awful restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for the menu, 45 for the appetizers and then to top it off, two meals came an hour and 15 later while the other two meals didn't come out till 30 minutes later. Those meals were also cold. The owner was just sitting at the bar drinking with some other guy. Overall miserable experience

This place was great. Rooms were clean and modern, great breakfast made to order comes with rooms, but the best part are the owners. They purchased the lodge recently and have really turned it around. They go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. Highly recommend and will go back.

I was traveling from Pottersville, NY to Olmsteadville without any cellphone reception or GPS, which I had been counting on. I stopped at a gas station in Pottersville and was told to head south on Rt 9 and then onto 8. After traveling for an unbelievably long time and finding no signs of Olmsteadville, I stopped at the Black Mountain Lodge for help.
I must have looked distressed because the bartender came right over and asked if I needed help! She was so sweet! (May 8th, around 7pm). She directed me to two gentlemen who were sitting at the bar. Their directions were perfect and I ended up in Olmsteadville 1/2 hour later. A GREAT BIG THANKS TO ALL OF THEM!! If I am ever traveling that way again, I will stop in for a drink at the bar!

Bed bug alert!
Stay away from room 8 at least. Woke up dotted with itchy bites. Failed to address the issue with hotel since reception was not available and my calls and messages remained unanswered.

Stayed 4 nights, rooms are dated but clean. Carpets are clean, bed is more comfortable than it looks. Dark wood paneling from the 70's still on the walls, bathroom reminds me of grandmas.Very convenient to Gore Mountain. Bar and restaurant were good. My buddy and I had adjoining rooms for guys getaway. If you want a clean, affordable motel, close to Gore this place works.

This lodge is a great stay. The managers were friendly, fun, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The free breakfast was homecooked goodness and portions you would expect from your grandma, both big and delicious. I'll be back.

The restaurant was empty, but still we waited.

Our dreams of a good dinner, slowly faded.

45 minutes for the appetizer to come

I've run out of stories to tell and songs to hum.

When the entrees arrived we wanted more.

We only received 2 and were expecting four.

There was a mistake in the kitchen, or so we were told.

The forgotten entrees in their center were cold.

Two free entrees would have showed some tack.

But that didn't happen, so we won't be back.

Affordable, clean, and nice people. Rustic but does not lack anything. Breakfast is great and the location is convenient for hiking and outdoor activities. No air conditioning in the rooms but you can get it quite cool at night by putting the fan (provided) in the window. Will stay here again!

From the cozy rooms to the mountain lodge atmosphere this motel did not disappoint. The new owners are incredible people who went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Also have pet friendly rooms available for furry travelers! We will be back here again on the next trip!! Only a 5 minute drive to Gore Mountain. Don t listen to old outdated reviews, try it out for yourself and be pleasantly surprised!!

The Lodge itself is a well preserved 1950's style rustic motor lodge. Nothing special but it is clean, well tended and they used real tile and tubs in bathrooms back then.
Room service came every day and really cleaned up, a welcome suprise.

The best part of the Lodge is the Restaurant. Some I know stay here because of the restaurant. The food is good, the bar is lively and the atmosphere is welcoming.
If you're up skiing at Gore or visiting for a fly fishing weekend, consider the Black Mountain Lodge. It is very good value for the money.

Great place. Make time to eat here if you are nearby. My wife and two kids were returning from the Adorondack Museum and took the advice of the reviews from here and went out of our way to eat here. And glad we did. My wife had the grilled tuna salad and it was outstanding. All of our meals were very good. And the decor clean and rustic. The food was slow in coming. But we felt worth the wait. We were amazed to find such good food in such an unassuming out of the way place.

The rooms were nice. This lodge Has complementary breakfast that was above expected. They have a short order cook that prepairs and serves breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good night's rest and amazing breakfast. Also our plans for the day did not start till 2pm and the allowed us to extend our checkout time with no extra charge. They also have a huge volleyball court along with corn hole to keep you busy.

Had a great 3 night stay here. New ownership has done many updates and went out of their way to make myself and family comfortable. Also offer pet friendly rooms and minutes away from gore mountain. All the bad reviews are old and came from previous ownership

Absolutely the worst lodging experience I've had, I'm not even sure where to begin. The showers were unusable with no hot water and only enough water pressure for a slight trickle. The thermostats are perpetually stuck at 55 degrees. You can hear mice scuttering through the walls at night along with every sound your neighbors say due to the paper thin, uninsilated walls. The management also decided to take personal objects from our room as an "incentive" to force us to come discuss what they deemed unacceptable. I would never stay here again and would recommend the same to anyone thinking of staying here.

When making a reservation I have the expectation of the standard comforts of heat and hot water. Upon arrival Friday eve we noticed no heat or hot water. There was no where to make a request, the people that registered us were busy with the restaurant and bar.

Saturday am after breakfast we let them know, we were told it was going to be taken care of. We bathed with cold water and requested fresh towels. We were told towels would not be available until later and that I should go to the restaurant that evening to request after our event we were attending.

We did and we're told they had no towels, they would look into it.

Last night and again this morning attempting to shower, no hot water. When returning from breakfast we noticed towels were on the chair outside the room though still no hot water or heat. It was 39 degrees when we woke this morning.

Sent the above email to Mark the owner and received no reply after a month.

Sad when you have a poor experience, even worse when they don't care.

I took my family to the Black Mountain Lodge and R...

I took my family to the Black Mountain Lodge and Restaurant earlier this week for dinner, mainly because they were the only place in the area that was open on a Monday night, and we were pleasantly surprised by a delightful experience.

I was a little unsure what to expect when we first walked in and saw that the only other patrons were sitting at the bar, but I loved the warm and comfy log cabin feel of the place, so we grabbed a seat in the dining room and began scoping out the menu. We ultimately landed on a pepperoni pizza, which ended up being bigger than we expected, and a combo meal consisting of a special Buffalo roast beef sandwich, half a dozen wings, and a side of fries. All of it was fantastic. The Kummelweck bun on the roast beef sandwich was a novelty for me and I'm glad I gave it a try, because it was great. All in all, we were very happy with the food.

Finally, although the atmosphere and the food were good, what made the meal truly exceptional was the service. Apparently, something went awry in the kitchen after we ordered our food because it took quite awhile for it to come out, however the owner/manager/chef came out to our table on his own initiative to make amends and it was greatly appreciated. My family and I were visiting the area from the other side of the country, so he wasn't exactly in danger of losing a regular, which indicates to me that it just seemed like the right thing to do, and those are the places that I am most eager to support with my business.

The staff shirts at this place proclaim that it is the place where the locals go, and after visiting myself, I can understand why.

The rooms have been recently renovated and are super clean. The place is owned by a young couple, that are super friendly and bend over backwards to be accommodating. Definitely the nicer of the motels in the area

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Don t order takeout here, or in that case food here at all unless you want your orders wrong, and not wrong once but multiple times. Unreal. Pay for food for it to be made wrong. Had this happen not once not twice and not even three times but FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES WE HAVE ORDERED TAKEOUT FROM HERE. I d like to also note, the new owners are great, the food is great, and whoever answers the phone for takeout orders & whoever takes the order gets everything right because they have read it back to me every time I call to correct the order they screwed up YET AGAIN! So thank you to them. But overall very disappointed in the making of the food and whoever puts the orders together.

From the moment my husband & I checked in until check out the customer service and hospitality was amazing. Sharon and her husband were super helpful, the breakfast was delicious (daily) They were both extremely welcoming making our experience better than expected. They have a great team working with them and it shows. Nick, was amazing with us. We ate outside at the picnic area and he never failed to check up on us constantly , conversing and making sure we felt comfortable even though we were outdoors. Sharon came outside as well to see how we were doing. If you are in the area give this place a chance, I promise the hospitality you get is unforgettable. I hope the owners realize what a great team they have running the place. People who love what they do and make everyone feel welcome is hard to come by, appreciate all of them. Nick you will do great in school! We will be returning again soon

Worst hotel I ever stayed at. STAY away. No hot water, no TV, no WiFi and room temperature struggled to get above 53 degrees. On second night we were give a small space heater which keep temp from dropping below 50 degrees. We had to sleep with all our clothes on.
Nobody on site to complain in morning. Restaurant was so cold people had to eat with coats.
And the best part; $230.00 charge for two night. STAY AWAY.

My family and I spent the 4th of July weekend at this lodge and I must say, we were very pleased with our stay. We were so pleased, we decided to stay an extra night. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. The new owners took ownership as of January 2020 and they were truly amazing. Very friendly people who made sure we were comfortable and happy. The food was amazing and so is Sharon :) Continental breakfast is included with your stay and the food did not disappoint. From pancakes, to eggs or omelets, the food was terrific. This lodge is very accommodating and the prices are very affordable. The owners truly went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best possible and we will definitely be returning for a future stay before the end of the year. You will not be disappointed!
