I don t know why it got such high rating. It was my second deep-dish pizza in Chicago, and it was... average comparing to the former one (Lou Malnati s). The service was ok. My seat got taken over while I went back to get my ID for the drink (3 mins).

This is what I think of when I think original deep dish! There's a lotta good ones, but Uno's is top-drawer! The location IS quaint and always bustling! Pro-tips: 1) Arrive HUNGRY! 2) Call in your pizza order according to your RESERVATION, SO YOU WAIT LESS. 3) aRRIVE hungry! 4) dRINK BEER AND WINE WHILE U WAIT FOR UR PIE. Get an extra large with Sausage AND Pepperoni and onions and shrooms! Cheers!

Deep dish pizza was really delicious. Was there with family and ordered medium sized vegetarian pizza along with salad, garlic bread and drinks. The pizza was thick and large and we couldn't finish it. In the end we had to cancel the salad and get the remaining pizza packed. Must visit once if you are in Chicago.

Oh my LORD!

Oh my LORD!
I had an individual deep dish pizza, cheese sticks, and an Oreo shake.
I loved this pizza so much. The sauce was so smooth and so full of flavor. The crust was perfect.
The cheese sticks were like a cheese fanatic's dream. A crispy outside and a very gooey-cheesy inside.
Now, the Oreo shake...
The best Oreo shake I've ever had.
I definitely will be back.

Not a family (small kids) managment friendly. Got kick out cause my 2 year and 4 year old were screaming and play while waiting to be seated, even we order all the food before getting seated. Manager treated my wife unrepectfuelly. This was my first time to Chicago and the last time I will ever visit this place.

A famous Chicago deep dish pizza store.

A famous Chicago deep dish pizza store.
Deep crispy pie dough is packed with hot ingredients and cheese, making it very volumy.
In my case, one and a half hours after ordering, pizza finally came out. The evaluation may change depending on how you use this waiting time.
In addition, drinks such as alcohol are provided immediately at the bar.
You have to decide the size at the time of ordering, but if you are alone you will not have any problem with the smallest size unless you eat too much.

Uno's Chicago style deep dish is THE best pizza in town. Since I was a kid, my Dad's been taking me there. I remember feeling so special when he used to take us to have the best pizza in the world. It was always something I looked forward to. I am a loyal customer for life...

What can I saw about the pizza. It's delicious layers of art. Lets start bottoms up. I love the shortbread crust at Uno's. Amazing. It's flaky... crispy... awesomeness. The next layer up is the cheese. TONS of it. Hey, this is Chicago. Above that you'll find fresh tomatoes and sauce. Very fresh. To top if all off, you get the toppings you order.

I see quite a few people complaining on reviews here and I want to address some of that.

What to order. I'm a big believer of KISS. Keeping it simple stupid. I only order pizzas here with one topping. One tip... I've found that if you order too many veggie toppings at once, maybe the water from the veggies flows through an makes the crust soggier than it should be. The takeaway is... choose a topping you like and enjoy it like anything. I wouldn't order any appetizers; the pizza is VERY filling so you want to enjoy that to the maximum. Also, frankly the appetizers aren't their strong suit.

The ambiance. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall; but there's so much history there. This is the original location from 1943. Just take a look at all of the politicians, celebrities, everyone that's been there. Sure it's a bit cramped, but just know that ahead of time. If you want more space, actually Due is their second location and it's much more spacious.

The service. I see people complaining about the service. Uno's sure ain't fine dining and don't go in there expecting that. Chicago is a traditionally a rough and tough blue collar city. There may be a few bad apples, but I've always found the service to be friendly at best and adequate at worse.

The competition. My review used to have criticisms of other Chicago Deep Dish places in it. I decided to clean this all up. See, Uno's greatness stands on it own. The others fall short in various ways and you can read my reviews of those places to see how.

Definitely one of the best places in Chicago to have an iconic deep dish pizza.

Unfortunately, we had to do a takeaway since it was an easter weekend and it almost took an hour for them to get our order ready. However, that hour was totally worth it.

We went for Spinach deep dish (vegetarian) and it was brilliantly made. The flavors of spinach, cheese, and mushrooms came out very well. However, what was noticeable was the amazing crust - not at all chewy, quite crispy.

Definitely recommended if you are in Chicago and want to try out the deep dish pizza.

The first ever Uno's pizza, completely unchanged since the early 1900s and totally separate from the franchise they sold off. If you want to taste Chicago's first ever deep dish, I'm pretty sure this is exactly where it all started. I've been on two tours throughout the city that have stopped at this location to showcase as much.

In town for the weekend and staying down the street at the Acme Hotel. Decided to give Uno's a try. We called to make a reservation to be told there was no wait and we didn't need one. We arrived 15 minutes later to be told there was a 20 minute wait but we were welcome to sit outside. We put our pizza order in an waited for an inside table. After our wait we were seated just inside the door near the bar. The doors to the outside were wide open meaning there was no taking off our coats for dinner and the cold night air was coming in full blast. There was a different table that opened up that we were able to hop ,near the bar a bit farther away from the main draft, but coats stayed on because the doors were still wide open. I noted that the table wasn't wiped down with any sort of cloth, rag or disinfectant but a napkin to brush crumbs to the floor from a previous guest. I watched wait staff do this repeatedly with other tables despite cleaning supplies being out in direct sight in a closed booth. After about 10 minutes we were able to order some water to drink. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs for myself along with a side salad. During our wait a waiter filled a beer mug on the other side of the bar which sprayed onto my boyfriend's coat. He looked at us and then ignored it, going about his business. Our meals took a relatively normal amount of time to come out. The "deep dish" pizza was a sloppy mess with giant stewed tomatoes thrown onto and a crust that had maybe risen 1/3 of the way. The meat balls were bland despite roughly chopped giant pieces of semi raw garlic that were added. We didn't take our meals home because neither would be worth eating. The bar we sat next too was a hot mess of glasses, uncleaned mirrors and random fraying wires stuffed near an electrical box. I didn't use the restroom because I wasn't confident it would be clean enough to use. I think if the original owner was still alive he would be appauled at what his restaurant has devolved into. If he is dead he is most likely rolling in his grave. Don't waste you time or money on this "Historic Chicago Experience".

Great location, friendly staff and good seating. Enjoyable atmosphere. Garlic bread was really good. Never had deep dish pizza before so I cannot compare it to other places, but it was enjoyable.

It was fine. Not my first deep dish experience and this wasn t really my favorite. It lacked herbs and flavor and just needed a little bit more sprucing up. Crust is good, tomato and veggies are all fresh...just could have benefited from some fresh basil, otherwise kind of boring.

The deep dish was awesome! The beer selection was great, I understand deep dish takes a long time so I wasn't bothered with the long wait. Service was good. Just needs a little more light inside.

The customer service here was awesome! We were well attended to! Ordered a small pizza and told it could take up to 45minutes. However we must of hit a sweet spot because it was on the table in about 20! Thanks for a great experience!

As a Chicago native, I ve never had a worse deep dish pizza experience. I made the mistake of bringing 4 foreign friends from Europe and ended up feeling terrible for that decision.

We arrived at 12pm on a Wednesday when the restaurant was not absurdly busy, yet the staff was incredibly rude to us. The waitress would roll her eyes at us as we were ordering and seemed to rush us through our meal. The worst part is when the pizza arrived - the server dropped the first piece of pizza on the table, splattering the sauce on me and my friend. We had the misfortune of wearing white that day. To make matters worse, the server then put the piece back on a plate and handed it to one of the guests at the table.

Overall awful experience for lukewarm pizza. Chicago has many great deep dish pizza restaurants and I would urge you not to go to this one.

Slaughters Lou Malnati's and Gino's! Best deep-dish in Chi Town! Great service, outdoor seating, order when you go on seating wait and your pie is ready right after you sit. So good they had to open a second!

Pizzeria Uno is an awesome looking restaurant with an amazing history. If those walls could talk... The birthplace of the deep dish pizza, so we gave it a go. The waitress Courtney was a great hostess, and service was great. Local craft beers was nice and my wife enjoyed a great hot chocolate on a cold night. The pizza was tasty, but my preference is with a thin pizza crust. Was a great experience and would recommend it.

Forsake all other Unos order pie purists who declare these world famous River North originals about nine miles ahead of the chains around the country thanks to classic deep-dish pizzas laden with cheese and tomatoes and balanced by crispy , pastry-like crusts; sure, they re not much for decor , but out-of-town guests appreciate the old-time feel , and despite long waits (Due is less crowded ), most agree you have to go at least once.

Long wait for parties larger than 2 - over hour and half. Placed small pizza orders when you put your name down with hostess but still have to wait another 20 minutes or more to get pizza once seated. The table was less than desireable, next to bathrooms and a wobbly table pushed up to a small booth to hold 6 people. Pizza was good, but would never wait that long again. Drinks were good and good servers. Can basically say we tried Chicago deep dish pizza.

The staff was friendly and efficient. When there's a wait the host will take your order so that when you get to your table the wait for the amazing deep dish pizza isn't so long. The pizza itself was made with fresh ingredients and was just what we expected from Chicago-style pizza! It was a lovely experience in a great, cozy pizza atmosphere!

Quality of the food was just alright. And that's about it.

We were a group of five and waitress brought one order wrong type, two orders wrong size and one drink short. They did try to correct the order but the whole process seamed sloppy.

Interior needs a remodel or at least a good scrub. It might be on pair for a bar but not for a restaurant.
