Sorry, but it isn't as good as it used to be. It's clear they are in their cash cow phase, seating as many people as possible without concern for delivering a top shelf shelf meal.
Very slow service. Took 15 minutes to even get water and another 25 minutes after that to get the two drinks we ordered (glass of wine and mixed drink). Unfortunately, no acknowledgement that everything was taking so long from the waitress which makes it seem like it s expected? The couple next to us had their drinks comped and actually left because everything was taking so long. We stuck it out- and the food was actually good. Had the special, Halibut. The quality of the food was definitely overshadowed by the poor service. Probably won t be back as there are other places with similar/better food with quicker service.
This is my favorite place in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is upscale and the service matches. I typically get Mussels for an appetizer and Steak Frites for the main course. Always finish with the French press coffee. I don't recall anyone ever complaining about a meal though. Visit when you have time as this is a place to enjoy.
Always excellent food! It doesn't matter what you order, it will be good. Good size portions for the money. Too full for dessert, but I'm sure it's good too! Great service, friendly servers. Parking is a little difficult at times. My only complaint is that it is really dark inside and I have to use my phone to see the menu, maybe just old eyes! Lol.
Great service, great drinks, great atmosphere. We had a wonderful time and loved the live music in the bar.
I may be partial but this is one of Jacksonville s top notch dining establishments. Locals and travelers alike should not miss it! Congrats on the re-opening after the storm!
Food was outstanding as was the service. I have been absolutely raving about this restaurant to friends and family ever since my visit!
Friendly staff, great food, and such a quaint atmosphere. The snails and lamb are excellent!
This is where I had my wedding proposal. Everything was done so beautiful. The food was good.
Friendly and professional service, good french style food, great wine list and small portions. Felt it was a little over priced.
french food... so delicious. It has a great interior. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.
Visited as part of a large group event. We had one of the meeting rooms. The food was provided by the event sponsors. All the food tasted great. The sliders and deviled eggs were hit with me. The staff serving drinks got to know each person. Worked hard to keep drinks flowing and had us checked out quickly. I would like to return for a full meal.
Very juicy burger. Good restaurant, good decor, good service in a good neighborhood. Can't go wrong coming here.
Bistro Aix is a great example of the food revolution that has gripped cities like Washington DC, San Francisco, and is making its way to Jacksonville, Florida? Not quite, while Bistro Aix is a shinning example of how good food can be, Jacksonville has yet to fully embrace the standards set by bistro. You'll find Bistro Aix located in the historic San Marco part of town, this quaint neighborhood lends itself well to Aix. The theme is that of Aix-en-Provence France and you'll find reminders of it peppered all over the location. There are several options for eating, the bar, the main dining room, outside in their courtyard, or in Onyx the new extension for dining/bar. The menu is full of fantastic treats that you'll no doubt spend hours poring over. A robust wine list will leave you very happy when you find a bottle for as little as 40$ or as pricy as $4,000. Aix has a bar where you can sit and look into their open kitchen, you'll see your food go from fins and scales to hot roasted in their ovens. Aix also sports a pastry shop where rich sweets await. If you are looking around you'll find Onyx, an all white bar in stark contrast to the rest of Aix. My issue with Onyx is that while it has the same service and food, because its so modern there is no sound dampening on the walls and that leaves this room very loud if you are used to the rest of Aix. Chef Gray was nominated for the James Beard award and is very deserving of it. He continues to push the food movement in the Jacksonville area and people come in herds to eat here. Make sure avoid this place during the normal lunch/dinner hours when corporate America comes to feed. Aix gets 5 stars from me because I know each time I eat here I am in for a treat and will be taken care of table side. If you are looking for a fine dinning experience where ingredients are treated with respect, and techniques are true to form then this is Jacksonville's premier address.
I really can't comprehend rating this place less than five stars. Those ratings are incredible, really, as this place is perfection on every level!
My new favorite French restaurant in Jax. Everything was super tasty and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be heading back to try the rest of the menu.
My husband took me here for Valentine s Day this past Friday, and I was blown away! I can t believe we have lived in Jacksonville this long and not ever been here, the service and food were absolutely amazing! Just a tip you have to try the French onion soup it s to die for!
Always a good time when I come here. Great vibes and great food. Love the Martini's.
Although it is a Pizzaria, there were only 4 different to choose from. The one with Salmon would be served cold. Never heard of it before.
Best table service EVER! Great food and very cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.
Went for a late lunch. Great service by our waiter and great food. We treated ourselves to a 3 course lunch!
My calamari was wonderful and my filet was prepared by someone who knew what they were doing. Overall I was quite impressed.
Great to see B Aix open after Irma. Oysters were fresh as can be and steak au poivre coooked just right. Attentive service.
Our experience was great! The food was awesome! My only issue is with the servers hair. For the atmosphere and price point, I didn't feel her appearance even looked clean. A comb would have made a world of difference. Not to mention, I'm sure no one wants her hair in their food. How would management feel about having to trash a $30 entree because her hair was in it?
Very elegant French dining restaurant. Very courteous staff and great quality food!
We've been to this restaurant many times. This was our first visit post-hurricane and the repairs that followed. Same great food, same great staff, same great atmosphere. Some of the repairs after the hurricane are not terribly impressive. Hopefully that will get fixed in the long run.
I showed up as an underage vegetarian (this eliminated more than half of the menu) with no idea what I was doing. I had a $10 gift card and I wanted to use it. The staff was incredible. I got a seat at the raw bar and they assured me that I was fine, even though I was underdressed. My server was amazing and happened to be vegan, so she was able to help me find something to eat. The food was incredible. Quick and great tasting. It was a dream.
We had a fabulous meal, served by Michael. The food was awesome, from appetizer to dessert, a lovely evening with friends sitting outside enjoying the beautiful evening.
french food and the setting at this spot is excellent. I love visiting here. There was fast and courteous service. The bill was decent. Atmosphere is similar to a cafe in San Jose I loved.
Just great! The potato chips and blue cheese nachos are a favorite. And the food is really good to the lounge is unbelievably cool I mean like really cool. They used to give out teal deals and they stopped! The wine list is decent and the entrees and the menu overall is seasonal and quaint.
Good food. Good service. Good drinks. The Onyx bar is a lot of fun.
Decorations is just OK. First looks cool but so busy. seats are not comfortable food quality is lower than average Small portions Food presentation is not good Our home made chips was not fresh Background music is loud, not good place for meet. limited parking Manager did not come to introduce himself. Bathrooms was clean. Location is good
Delicious food and a good atmosphere in the evenings. Definitely recommend.
I got nice food both times i went there, but on my 1st visit i had a bad experience with one of the server's...
Best scallops I ve ever had. Hands down. The location was great, Brandon was a wonderful server, and the rest of the food was to die for. But those scallops...
The food was horrible for the price. Bland taste and no spices.
Food was mediocre at best but my biggest complaint is that we were told we couldn t substitute the butternut squash soup for French onion soup by the owners which were sitting in front of us. Doesn t seem like a big deal and would ve made us very happy. The butternut squash soup was overly sweet. My beet salad was mostly kale and needed more moisture. The duck was not cooked or flavored well... Side note: I ve eaten a lot of nice French food all over France and Yountville so I may be a tougher critic than the average patron.
The escargot is the best I have ever had! They suggested a Barolo wine that was amazing! Everyone was delighted with their choices and the service was 5 star! This is one of my favorite date night dinner spots in Jacksonville!
Good food nice seating little live music. Keep on keeping on
My husband and kids and I stayed 1 night in this cute hotel. We had a spacious 1 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. My kids loved the heated pool and hot tub and we enjoyed hot chocolate by the fire pit. The breakfast was nice and the breakfast area was clean and restocked often. Like others though, I was...
Excellent french cuisine. You will pay a premium bit it is well worth it. The menu is small but it is done purposely because what they have is made exceptional. Have not tried the wine yet, but will the next time I am there.
Their menu is stuck in the early 2000s and what I got was nothing spectacular and bland. Had a few of their what seems to be new desserts and they are absolute trash. You can tell they are store bought, they tasted old and frozen.
Our server was inexperienced. Steak and potato plate tasted chewy. Nice atmosphere.
Excellent food! The staff was very attentive and the ambiance is both romantic and small party friendly.
Dined there last night. Appetizers were very good, calamari light and fresh with a nice dipping sauce, chartreuse board had good variety and portion. Had steak frites which were excellent, wife had the scallops dish, good but too pricey, $32 and only 3 scallops, cmon. Our friends had a shrimp dish and duck entree which was good. Service was a little slow, ambiance is nice, little pricey but overall a good dining experience.
The pizza though . Pretty cheap drinks duting happy hour and a nice place to hang.
Awesome food and awesome service. And not expensive for the quality.
I brought a bunch of friends here and we had a great time. Our server was very knowledgable, informative and friendly. Our food came on time and he was always there when we had questions or needed anything. The food was ok. Their lamb shank and bread was really good. I also ordered their shrimp and crab ravioli and that was not good. It was in a sweet cream sauce and the flavors did not go well together. I don't think I would come back here again because the food was pricey and it's a hit or miss if it's going to be good or not.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and business casual. The food here was phenomenal and the service was that of a 5 star restaurant.
Nice ambience and good service. Great wines. The soups need to be much warmer. Desserts are wonderful. Good options for vegetarians.
Service: Very good. Polite, courteous and competent. Food: Tasty, but very underwhelming given this restaurant's reputation and especially the price. I have had much tastier steaks for half the price. The food was flavorful, but not the "Oh Wow!" experience. This restaurant is VERY NOISY!!! The acoustics in the room make it so that everyone can hear all the other conversations clearly (almost no soft surfaces in the entire restaurant). We were seated in one of the booths in the back corner of the restaurant away from the main dining room and it was almost impossible to hear each other speak. Do not go for a romantic evening, this is not the place for that. After all the hype and positive reviews, we were very disappointed. The bar is set too high for this (otherwise good) restaurant
Love the atmosphere. The service is a little slow (Sat night). It took about 40 mins for my husband to get his filet done, but it was delish
My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for a late lunch. The ambiance was nice, save for the weird napkins that had "Forking Amazing Restaurants" printed on them. Our waiter, Will, was very nice and personable. We started with the bleu cheese chips, which came out room temp and slightly soggy. For our entrees, I ordered the Anson Mills Farro, described as farro, fava beans, mushrooms and tri colored cauliflower in a mushroom jus. My boyfriend ordered the roasted chicken, which was the same as my dish and topped with a roasted chicken breast. The food came out looking and smelling delightful. However, that was as good as it got. My farro was undeniably undercooked. It was almost crunchy still. My boyfriends farro was also terribly undercooked. Our jaws hurt trying to chew through the farro. To top it off, his chicken was overcooked. He described it as dry and flavorless. He tried to soak it in the jus a little for some flavor, but the jus was so light that it wasn't enough. In the end I paid $55 before the tip for one of the most underwhelming dining experiences of my life. I'm pretty upset that I paid so much for so little enjoyment.
Favorite Jacksonville Restaurant. Great food, Great Atmosphere, Great Service, Best Value.
Medium rare shouldn't be grey throughout, but they replaced it with a very nicely cooked filet. The ratatouille was good too.
Yeah, no. The service was awful. 40 minutes to get our appetizer. Didn t bring bread until we asked and then 20 minutes. Drinks took forever. Entrees? A 7:45 reservation and we got the entrees at 9:10 and they simply weren t good. The Mahi fresh catch was dry as paper and the tuna entree tasted rancid. We paid for cocktails and two entrees for a party of four and it was still a $200 bill despite talking to the manager. Just avoid this place. It s simply not good.
What an amazing place to relax and enjoy some spectacular food paired with a great service. The ambiance is relaxed but at the same time very upscale, overall an amazing experience
