-MEH-

My brother and I decided to eat before attending the Houston Symphony Orchestra. I had reservations.

Pros: It is very close to the Theater

Cons: The food is below average. I have had the equivalent from the grocery store (the kind that comes in a tin pan) and everything is "a la carte", so if you order lasagna and they ask if you want a salad, it will be extra, and they don't tell you. I ordered the lasagna and my brother ordered the tortellini with sausage. Like I said, I have had better store bought lasagna. The sausage that came with the tortellini was dry and over cooked, it really looked like it was microwaved. So if you just don't feel like walking too far from the theater, and don't mind paying way too much for food that tastes microwaved, and walking away with a feeling of "MEH" at least it was close, then it might be somewhat acceptable. Otherwise, I would strongly suggest eating someplace else.

We did enjoyed visiting with the people at our table and the food was really good but the "play" was not very good. This was our first experience with a mystery dinner theatre and will be our last at Birraporetti's. I rushed out so I wouldn't have to lie when they asked if we enjoyed it. It was no more than what I would describe as a few people goofing around. It also would have helped if they had a mike so you could at least hear the chosen suspects a little better.

Felix was fantastic! My table was amazing! I felt like I was in the movie Scarface (lol) the way my table was positioned. Great place to go if your looking for Ambience. We ll be back for one of Felix secret drinks.

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little boy. I highly recommended that everyone bring a date to this place. Go see a theater production at the alley theater and go have dinner at Birraporetti's. The food is fantastic. I recommend pretty much all the pasta dishes and the pizza of course. This place has the feel of a fine restaurant that you might find somewhere in Chicago. It's a very elegant atmosphere but the prices are unbelievably fair and reasonable. It also has a very beautiful bar. With a remarkable selection of spirits. This place honestly reminds me of a high-class Cheers. I can honestly say that I will always go to Birraporetti's. It Feels Like Home.

I wanted to like this place, but it just didn't pull me in. The food was ok, but it was similar to items you could get elsewhere. Not a standout meal for me. Staff was very attentive. It was pretty loud in the place, but this was right before Christmas.

Overbooked, Hour late, these two things were the reason me and my fiance left as they were handing out food am hour after it was supposed to be out. Lack of communication. Waste of my money and and a waste if time for valentines day, never will we come again

Generally service is okay. Erica is my favorite waitress. However, I placed a to-go order and the server was exceptionally rude and overly hasty. He is never polite but today was terrible. Had I not been gifted a Groupon, I would have canceled the order. I usually tip to-go but not today.

Came here before a show. Reserved seats were waiting just as I requested for four. Sun was in our eyes and waiter was happy to lower curtains. Water came quickly, service was pleasant, food came quickly exactly as ordered and hot. Waiter was very helpful and informative. Cannot think of a single complaint.

At Birraporetti's Downtown today for lunch must say that the Pork Chops were Dry, Hard, and Tough. Manger was not helpful at all and didn't offer anything to us.
This place is now on our :One & Done list.
Very Poor Customers Service and Food today.

My wife, daughter and myself celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary at Birraporetti s downtown Houston and the food was delicious. I highly recommend them to everyone. They are definitely family friendly. I would also recommend dessert as it topped off a great meal. Been a customer for twenty years and they are awesome.

Second time I ate there. Both times very disappointing.

I had the filet which was too rare snd mashed potatoes were cold along with the broccoli. Drinks were great! Service was great!

Maybe they can't cook steak since its an Italian restaurant however my entire mesl w/o drinks was $40 dollars st least. Steak was $33. I just expected it to be medium, not rare.

If i go there again I will have sn Italian dish.

Very nice setting, buffet was not tended to regularly like it should have been. We had a 1pm reservation and the food was mostly empty. We alerted our waiter to have them being out fresh food and deserts. They must be too busy to keep up with the demand of a buffet style jazz brunch. Music was great and so was our awesome waiter but keeping hot food filled at the buffet was my only issue

Love this place. We came in kind of late. It was close to closing time. Our waitress made sure the whole menu was available. She gave very friendly & courteous service. I wld be remiss if I didn't mention the waiter, e/ the beautiful voice who sang as he finished his own work and brouhhyr a refill on my drink. The food was delicious. I had not been here in quite a long time. Now that I live closer I will definitely be going again.

Some friends and I were there, and the waiter didn't come back to give us the check. We weren't upset and we understood it was a holiday; eventually we asked a different waiter, and she brought the tab. No one came back, so eventually one of my friends went to the bar to see if she could pay there. The bartender was annoyed even after my friend explained that we'd been unable to pay yet. Eventually, when we were leaving, the manager (or owner) asked how everything was; my friend told him about all of the above.

He said it was New Year's Day and they're understaffed and he said, "At least we're open unlike those Chinese restaurants," and he looked at my friend (of east Asian descent) and said "right?"

My friend responded, "I'm not Chinese and you need to be careful about making racial assumptions." We started walking out the door and he followed us out saying other stuff I couldn't hear. We said, "You need to watch your racism issue," and then we crossed the street.

Profiling a customer like that is so inappropriate, and we sincerely hope that management will reconsider its approach when interacting with customers.

Don't be bothered with the Murder Mystery Dinner a group of us meet each year in Houston for a night for Birthday's and Anniversary but when we got to the restaurant the murder mystery dinner was canceled we were never called by anyone at the Theater Company, we were left trying to figure what to do next since we had traveled so far and we had already paid for the Mystery Murder Dinner. If I was able to grade the Mystery Dinner I would give them a zero.

I would like First to say the 5 Stars are for the Head Manager of Operations John and Moses our server who are with Birraporetti's Restaurant they turned a Bad situation into a wonderful night. Thank you, John and Moses, with Birraporetti's for stepping up and making it a night we all will remember.

I have always had a great experience, but last night was awful. We had to ask for menus after we were seated, they were out of glasses and my martini was served in a childs glass, no chicken on the chicken spinach fettuccine alfredo, the bread came after the check, the restaurant looked messy, and the restroom was disgusting. I hope this was just a bad night and not a new Birraporetti's

Beautiful setting, close to the Alley, amazing service and great food! This place is one of my favorites for pasta or chicken dishes. I ordered the hand carved filet this time and unfortunately, it wasn't great. The texture of the filet was not that of a fresh cut, nor was the steak well seasoned. A bit of a disappointment. Regardless, this is one of my favorite places and I plan to return and stick to other items.

I have never seen such a mess. We come to this restaurant quite often after different shows but last night may have been the last. Feb 11 2020 we came there after the opera and there were obviously some issues going on. 1) short staff 2) inadequate server 3) ignorant manager. First we were not greeted and stood at the host stand for 10 mins. The bartender saw us finally and said to take a seat anywhere. We sat down and waited another 10 mins before I stood up and went to grab my own menu from the host stand. We had a young lady come to take our order and it didn t take long to realize she was rocking while standing and taking the order, she was slurring her words and was not comprehending what was going on. After she left 10 mins later I realized our order isnt going to be sent so I told the other waiter and he sent it. The female server came back out with waters and dropped them off at our table. She then came right back with more waters. She then come back with more until we had 10 glasses of water at our table. I wasn t sure if I needed to call the police or question why the manager hasn t put a stop to it. He just kept hanging out and allowing the girl to keep coming back on the floor in that condition. Then I realized that there was one server and the bartender running around trying to take care of everyone and the manager was not helping or doing anything to save the evening. He did not run food out or check if the decent tables that one server was taking care of needed refills or their bills. At that point I realized I won t be coming back. Unacceptable.

Food was GREAT! Murder Mystery Show was HILARIOUS!!!

For the price to have the great food, free non-alcoholic drinks and an entertaining show you cannot go wrong. Some people cannot be made happy regardless of what you do for them. I will be back and will bring others with me.

To the people that complained about 1 pass through the buffet line you are flat out unreasonable. If you left hungry it was your own fault. I was absolutely stuffed after my meal and could have fit more food on my plate.

Great date night with my wife.

I wouldn't recommend the Pappardelle brisket; it reminded me of beef stroganoff and I couldn't get past the first couple of bites. The lasagna was passable and the salads were fine. I think this place thrives on the post-show crowd, since there isn't a whole lot else around and open. Didn't get a chance to taste the pizza, but plenty of people in the restaurant ordered it and it didn't look too bad.

Food was good but not extraordinary. Our server appeared to be on something and although was pleasant was not attentive and seemed a little "lost". It did however provide for some interesting dinner conversation and laughs.

I've been here two times within the past few months. Different sized parties. Different times. Different days. Both times the service has been horrendous. The waiter was rude and made snide comments. The second time, our waiter could not figure out how to split a cheque. All over, a bad experience and high price for merely good food.

Honestly this is my first review ever , never thought it was fair to judge on a single individuals (waiter -Earl) performance , I am a business owner myself and I understand everyone has a bad night , but the service that was provided was unprofessional, my entire family was ignored, Food was 9 out of 10 my wife politely spoke to manager, and explained everything, and he refused to believe that was the case and said goodbye and walked away.We have been a customer for 31 yrs , and even use to be a customer at their other location in west oaks before they went out of business shortly after opening (we were very disappointed it closed)
Also we drove 45 min to eat there (can t even put into words how we were treated

My husband treated me this past Saturday. Food wasn't great for the price and extra for a salad with brown spots I mean really I could get better from a bag at Kroger. I got the $28 seafood tour nothing had flavor besides the bacon everything was wrapped in. Even the crab cakes were mediocre. Very disappointed we have been coming for years and I was not happy at all. The ribbon pasta and sauce were delicious though...

We went to the murder mystery dinner theater. It was fun. I've never done that before. I didn't realize that it is audience participation but some of the other guests and my wife really stepped up and got into it. Made it a lot of fun. The dinner was derved buffet style
