Bartenders overwelmed. Game night crowd tame and not up to standards. But live entertainment at 6 could make up and be all that.

Amazing food and service as always, but cocktails ordered at dinner were subpar, at best.
Wonderful evening before GoT concert at the Toyota Center! Yummy pesto ravilolli!
Staff is always very friendly.
Beer selection is not the greatest. Beer not cold enough for my preference.
Nice atmosphere.
TIPS:
Dress nicely or you will stand out
Buy the Groupon to save some $$
Go for the pizza (avoid the pasta)
PROS: right around the corner from The Revention Center and theaters, late night hours, atmosphere, live music, fast professional and courteous service
CONS: food was a huge let down
My friend and I had a late dinner (Friday night at 10:30pm) after a show at The Revention Center. The place seems intimidating at first because everyone is all dressed up and you notice the fancy upscale atmosphere as soon as you walk in. We were seated right away and the service was fast. I ordered an order of garlic bread which came out within minutes and it was okay. Nothing special about it. Within 20 minutes or so we received our entrees, I ordered the Capellini Primavera with shrimp and my friend ordered the Pollo Poretti. I was not impressed with my plate and I felt that the broccoli was mildly cold in some areas. I think I made the wrong choice in meal, I should ve ordered any of the pizza s based on all the recommendations on Groupon.
Decent place to eat after the theater or Jones Hall concert.
I have nothing to say about this place but good things....delicious food, huge portions and attentive service ....can't wait to.comeback and try the brunch next time !!! The host was very helpful and so was Michael my waiter ....
They are selling Groupons for the murder mystery dinner that they will not honor. I bought a groupon for my husband's birthday and they wont allow me to make a reservation because they say they are booked. Then why are you selling Groupons if you're full?! Not only have I wasted money on this Groupon I have to spend additional money and figure out what else I can do for his birthday. The worst is when I called and requested to be contacted about a cancellation they refused to even try telling "no, it's first come, first serve". What a scam!
The food was good, but we had between 5 and 10 bugs visit us during our meal.
Very decent stuff. Nothing is exceptionally inspiring. But the service is very good.
The interior is very dated.
Birraporetti's was great I would give it five stars but they had a lot of gnats there the spinach and artichoke was good but we didn't like the crunchy bread they gave us with the spinach and artichoke dip.
Were there on the St. Patrick's Day with a very loud band. At first a little annoyed but the music was contagious The food and ambience highly recommended!
Grate service delicious food kind staff what more can one want
This place is lovely. Delicious food, polite staff. Perfectly located around all the cool stuff in the theater district.
Good Italian food located in Downtown Houston. Perfect place to eat before or after a show in one of the many theater's in the area. Birraporetti's is usually fast, but make a reservation to be sure you get in and out on time!
The sewer smell was terrible, but that's not what bugged me most about eating here (they can't control that). We were there at least 45 minutes and only managed to eventually have coffee. The fried mozarella sticks came after we had asked for the check and they were cold. The waiter looking after the patio was obviously overwhelmed. I'm an ex-waitress and I understand being in the weeds (seemed like a lot of steamed coffee beverage orders were out of hand). I wish my waiter had better support from the restaurant management. (Maybe food runners?)
The rebuilding after the flood went beautifully. The place is amazing and the food is delicious.
One of my go to spots. Good food, friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating for those few of us who still smoke and don't vape!
I wavered between giving this place 5 stars or 4 stars. Their menu is decent but nothing to write home about. Most of the pasta looked and tasted like they get it from some food company and simply cooked there.
We normally go there before going to our play at the Alley Theater so it's convenient and the wait staff knows that most of the dinner crowd are trying to make their shows so they are very quick with service which I appreciate.
Also, we went there after the show to have dessert and coffee and the white and black mousse cake is simply devine! And the cappuccino is nothing like st*rb*cks, it's actually good. There's even live music on Friday nights. So even though the food rates a 4, the atmosphere, the desserts, and service rate a 5.
Italian food, mmm, yummy. i love going here. the service was friendly and sociable. the bill was fair i would say. food is similar to a cafe in indianapolis i liked.
Fun restaurant before a show. Three act with the ribeye and creme Brule is the best!
The food is amazing. Brunch is our favorite on Sunday. We have celebrated everything from Birthdays, graduations and wedding announcements. Thank you for your amazing restaurant and staff.
Tasty itallian food with a lot of choices. The pizza and the past is very good and a good portion size.
We hadn't visited Birraporetti's for several years and we're looking forward to visit after seeing a play at the Alley Theatre. It was late and we sat at the bar. We placed our drink and food order and got our drinks quickly. We waited and waited for our food. The bartender had taken our order and obviously could see we didn't have any food. When we inquired about our order, he said our ticket has been lost. We reordered an appetizer sampler. Not any one thing was anything special. The Bellini's were as tasty as usual.
Food, service and friendliness of staff was also over the top
Amazing Sunday Brunch, lovely music and very good service. Friendly staff.
Very nice ambiance. Window view. Excellent service. Great combo meals. Steaks were not the best but the food selection was well done. Desserts were heavenly. Definitely a revisit.
I'm not a fan of Italian food and this place didn't exactly change that for me. This place has a really homey and fun feeling to it. It can get insanely busy and you can feel ignored by your waiter/waitress, but the food is still pretty good.
We reserved a table for 6 and we waited for an hour for our food to arrive, despite us informing the waiter and the manager that we have a show to attend. The food was brought out right when we were ready to leave and we were not able to eat it as we were getting late. Very poor service. Will not recommend going there unless you have tons of time in your hand.
I have travelled 40 countries as a flight attendant in a 5 star airline. Birraporetti s is one of the best places I ve ever visited, always my choice whenever I am in Houston. Excellent quality and service.
Owner is very nice, and engages with everyone that comes in. We had a lovely table for two near the front door, with the air from a cool winter evening and the sounds of the dwindling downtown traffic. The iced tea was excellent, as was the stuffed mushrooms, followed up with a delicious plate of chicken piccata. Could have used more capers (I LOVE capers!), but delicious, on a bed of linguini. Love dining here, or at the bar, which has plenty of seating for large or small groups.
The brunch & murder mystery show are outstanding! I'll be returning next week with friends to enjoy another murder mystery dinner! The food is so good!
Love this place! Great food and service. Close to the theaters.
Quality, friendly service, perfect food, great music, it was wonderful. Had the eggplant parmesan, it was smooth, buttery, and delightful with the spinach pasta Alfredo. Even so, I was tempted; seeing the pizza on the way out made me hungry again.
I went today Dec 26, 2013 between 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon. A waiter showed up and took part of a drink order and vanished , 15 minutes later another one shows up. He takes our order and it comes out fine but he is slow on refills and forgets things and ignores when my daughter drops her silverware. The a small bad plain cheese tasting pizza was 15$ 2 cold small bland meatballs 7.50$ garlic cheese bread sans garlic or very little cheese $7 drinks sans refills 11$ . I usually don't mind paying this kind of money but when the service is lousy when a place is empty and the food is bad and overpriced I do.
My husband and I are a big fan of Italian food and love to try new places. We came across this place online when googled. Sounded great and looked great so we checked it out. So far this is the best Italian place we have EVER been and highly recommend it.
Food was delicious. Our waiter was fantastic. Ambiance was well set. We like it there and will return.
Great to be able to get a St Patrick's day corn beef and cabbage dinner at an Irish pub. The band was a little loud. Good wait staff. Go early so you are not rushed.
Excellent service, food, atmosphere, decor, and you can get any seat you want after 8:00 or so, since everyone runs off to the theatre. The Creme Broulee is divine!
Service at start of day is the worst, nonexistent really. To go orders are next to impossible to place. I've been in the restaurant to place an order and been ignored by multiple stall members for up to 15-20 minutes, I've tried calling ahead to alleviate the problem. Eventually someone answers the phone, but then transfer me to one that never gets answers. I've called from INSIDE the restaurant and still could not get someone to help me! This is an ongoing problem that I've noticed and dealt with for years.
Amazing place to eat. Very attentive, polite and great customer service.
Nice atmosphere, relaxing. Very good food and attentive wait staff.
Amazing food. Was there Sunday so we also enjoyed some jazz. Great place to eat before or after you're going to the theater.
Food was delicious and delivered timely, our server was very courteous and polite
Service was good... The wait staff friendly and took good care of us. The meal was also very good as well the Establishment was clean .... Located in the theater district downtown.. this location and open hours are accommodating for those leaving performances from the Houston symphony and ect...
Filmed a scene for O'Shea here and Absolutely loved it.
I normally only go for drinks. Shockingly the burger was really good. I might have to revisit.
Birraporetti's downtown Houston: I have been a customer since 1998, and have always had an AMAZING experience. However, today was a very different experience. The food today, like always was very delicious. Our waiter, Otto was excellent. Now, the manager, Chuck was very very rude. There were 6 of us (3 are from California). The last 2 of my guest were finishing their meals but all 6 of us were considering desert. Chuck, Birraporetti's manager, came to our table and asked if he could do anything. Our answer was not right now. Chuck's response was well if you all can wrap it up I would appreciate it because we are in need of this table. I was so EMBARRASSED! I highly recommended this place to everyone. What a horrible experience!!!!! Chuck definitely needs retraining!
My wife and I go to Birraporetti's during Christmas when we attend the ballet and plays in the theatre district. They are a change, but their food is good. I would recommend getting a salad before your meal, very fresh and cold.
There is an old saying, "You can never go home again". I use to go the restaurant off Westheimer and also to the one at Greenpoint years and years ago. Finally wanted some of their stuffed mushrooms and pizza again. Had never been to the downtown location. Drove an hour each way Sunday to go. Not very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Food was luke warm, not very flavorful and very expensive. I actually think they do not cook it on site. Everything was barely warm, service was very slow. I hate to write a review like this, but the truth is the truth. You can never go home again.
We always eat here before enjoying the Houston Symphony at Jones Hall across the street. The food is delicious, and the service has always been good. Be sure to make a reservation...we have seen people turned away on busy nights. One of our favorite downtown places!
I orderd a beef salad. My beef was gone bad and smelled fishy.
Amazing food, amazing waiters and waitresses, best place in houston period for Italian food
This was the first place my kids with food allergies ever ate at safely.
The food is really tasty, I mainly loved the bacon filet ,, the food its really delicius, in special the bacon filet
This place was pretty goo as far as I remembered, my friend and I had no reservation but the hostess grabbed us the last empty table in the place. The food was good with good service as far as I remember. The prices were a little high, but well worth it. Overall, this was a great experience especially for a last minute bite before heading over to the theatre.
The waiter was not very attentive and food was only so so. It was our third choice after other restaurants had no reservations. Should have expanded our search
Don t ever buy a gift certificate here! I purchased a $25 gift card for my mom. She used it to order a sandwich and fries. The total was 19 and change, do you know they kept forfeited the rest of her credit! They said they don t give credit ir mi way back for the balance you don t spend!
What kind of hog wash is that!!
It is principal! $4 and change is not a lot of money I get it but nobody wants to just throw money away! They want to feel like there money was worth every penny!
Terrible policy! Terribile! Who are you guys to pocket the rest of our hard earned money!
Thieves!
I was excited to try this restaurant. We made reservations early in the day to ensure a table was available. Our desired time of 830 was not available so we selected 9pm. At 9pm we arrived to find the restaurant locked and staff closing up. Very disappointed the management can't update their systems to ensure customers can actually dine here.
This restaurant is located in the theatre district. Have dinner or drinks before or after the show. Fantastic Sunday brunch!
High recommended this restaurant and you should try their pizza it s really good
Good pizza. This place is better than its reputation.
This place has excellent food. I usually go for the specialty pizza and spinach and artichoke dip, but they have a decent menu line-up and dessert items. Staff has always been very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is nice, and great location downtown.
Food & service was good but only one stall in the girls bathroom locks. ...long wait girls.
Fine spot for italian food. Service is awesome even when they are busy. The staff was very helpful and observant. Atmosphere is similar to a place in Columbus I loved.
We loved our time here. The food was excellent. The murder mystery show wss a nice change of pace with great actors running it. A wonderful combination. Will be recommending to everyone.
