Thank you Birraporretis event coordinator for reaching out, getting back with us vey quickly and your pleasant and quick response to my initial 2 star reading and review! You went above and beyond for any expectations of following up on our simple review. I and my wife really feel that you made things right and value your customers input. Really shows exceptional customer satisfaction and appreciation!

Management so rude, just because I stood for a few seconds next to the bar that was adjacent to kitchen, I was talking to our waiter about our transaction. Management wouldnt drop it, never seen anything like it.

Roberto is a terrific bartender! I ordered a martini with blue cheese olives and even though they didn't have them, he made some special for me. That's going the extra mile!!! The food is very tasty and consistently so, I just wish there were a few more healthy options. Yes, I know it's Italian food, BUT authentic Italian isn't all cream sauces and cheese and pasta.

As a 40 something, I remember Birraporetti s being popular and highly recommended 20 years ago. On holiday, while back in my home town and in the area for a play, I decided to take my family there. Sadly, it doesn t seem to have met my outdated expectations. The food was very common and the service was sub par. I expected more. I really am disappointed.

Despite the flooding of Hurricane Harvey, Chuck Gardner & his crew are back and better than ever! The Pizza, other Italian Specialties & libations are even Better! The restaurant make-over looks great too! A theater district favorite that stands #houstonstrong!!

Great place to visit before or after a play at the Alley Theater. Like can't miss type stuff. My wife and I went before saying a play at Hobby which is a little less convenient, but was certainly worth the walk. Great ambience. Live performer. Good drinks. Enjoyed the apps we had before the play.

Also appreciated the service as I had the chance to meet and greet management. They are actively involved and I highly recommend the location as a date night or for generally enjoying some of what Houston night life has to offer.

Was there with sister and daughter for dinner theatre. They were hilarious! The food was very good. Italian buffet style. My sister was volunteered for a part as the gold-diddong wife if the mafio's son. The real acting was funny and engaging. The audience was definitely encouraged to engage. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the performance.

I ve been coming to Birraporettis downtown on and off for over 20 years. I ve come in with my parents, on a date or two, and alone. I ve also worked in 2 restaurants in the same region.

This place has always been solid. They have a definite old school vibe, but the right kind. The service is spot on. The place is clean. No odd odors crowd the food scents. The management is attentive. The staff is friendly, engaging, yet lacks pretentiousness or pushiness .

The whole vibe is kind of 80 s, but not in any detrimental way in my view. It s a classy joint where you can feel secure taking a date that needs a classy spot without the puffed chest out of touch vibes so common now.

Stop in. If you don t like the spot, it s probably you, not them.

"Murder Mystery Dinner" (quotes imply sarcasm because said event was none of these things)

Seriously?! So, before coming I was sure that other negative reviews were exaggerating, but now I know the unfortunate reality that they were spot on. Please don't come to this, I beg you.

1. Food: quality was adequate and as expected for buffet, but they ran out of food as other reviewers noted. When explaining this to the man running the show he laughed and said, "yeah, I asked the kitchen for more but they said they gave us more than enough." Excuse me?!?! Umm, did you try telling them you literally RAN OUT? You don't charge $60 for dinner and then run out without doing any damage control. Ridiculous, they didn't offer to do ANYthing for us.

2. "Murder Mystery" Show: again, believe prior reviews. The show consists of 2 amateurs following a poorly written, painfully corny script that subscribes to ignorant racial stereotypes. This is not a murder mystery, but rather the actor goes around forcing audience members to follow the poorly written script as a famous singer and then has the member sing part of the famous individual's hit song, karaoke style. All of a sudden, the obnoxious actor dies (thank God! You were waiting for this moment) and then out of nowhere you're supposed to guess which famous person interviewed earlier did it, but no backstory was built up do there's no reasoning behind it.

I have to echo other reviewers and agree that it feels like they're robbing you since they don't even fully provide dinner and there is no murder mystery, but rather a painfully pathetic mundane reading of a script with little substance. Yikes, I feel mean but I didn't write anything that wasn't true.

Went there on Sunday prior to our show at Jones Hall to eat. The food and staff are amazing. They had live music there and we learned there is a brunch that is $28.99 a person.

We did not to the brunch but the items on it looked good. When we got there we sat at the bar and ordered drinks and a appetizer first. You must try the spinach and artichoke dip. It is to die for and normally I don't like this type of appetizer but theirs is very tasty.

The drinks were amazing as well and our bartender let us sample a taste of their frozen Jack and Coke, along with the peach bellini. They were great also we decided on one of their award winning pizzas. We ordered the meatball and pepperoni pizza.

This pizza was phenomenal and I can see how it won awards. The crust was cooked perfectly, and it had the right amount of cheese and sauce.

The pizza pictured below is the medium and it only cost $17.
A large would cost $18 but we wanted to save room for dessert.

We opted for the Key Lime pie and let me tell you you won't be disappointed if you like sweets. Especially if Key Lime pie is one of your top favorites.

I highly recommend this place and I know we will be back, as the service was fast and everything else was amazing there.

The server Michael was polite, but seemed completely uninterested. Everything took entirely too long to come out, even simple garlic bread took upwards of 15 minutes. The food made my stomach cave in overnight, it felt like. Atmosphere was quite nice, and the food itself wasn't too bad.

Went here to have lunch, I haven't been to one of these in decades. It was pretty empty for lunch time so we were seated fairly quickly. The staff and service was quick and excellent. The food was also. We had the seafood sampler, the calamari looked way better than it tasted. The garlic mash potatoes side I had was fairly bland.

Drinks were good and very reasonably priced for a Sunday in that location. Service was good (though our server couldn't tell us why there wasn't brunch that day, despite it being in the menu) and we enjoyed the seafood sampler. So why only two stars?

Well, a salmon caesar salad came and we were part way through sharing it when we found a (thankfully complete) dead roach in it, covered in dressing. Very small - about the size of your pinky nail - but still, a dead bug. We didn't make a fuss, but stopped eating (obviously) and explained to the server, who was mortified. The manager comped that dish but nothing else, didn't come to the table, and - here's the kicker - one of the other servers said (seemingly embarrassed at the low-key way the management had dealt with this), "If you make more of a fuss I can maybe get him to comp more items for you." I don't blame the server in the slightest but if management is ENCOURAGING bad behaviour on the part of guests in order to be treated well when something goes wrong, that's a big problem.

So, to be clear - the low star rating is NOT for the bug in the salad; that's unfortunate but it happens and it's not a deal-breaker for me on its own. But the lack of decent response from management, and the requirement that we behave like entitled a**holes (I think such behaviour is a major problem in today's society) before they would make this a better experience, means I won't be returning.
