It's not cheap and the food was kinda bland. It is a nice restaurant though. Good date night place.

Great restaurant for dinner with your spouse, family, or friends after visiting any events downtown, food is good and the atmosphere is calm yet thematic. They're open until midnight which is great, as they have a parking garage adjacent that offers reasonable rates during events, and convenient parking when eating there after.

Birraporetti's has been a staple in Houston for good Italian food for many years. The service was clean and inobtrusive. On Monday nights, they have live entertainment with no cover charge. The band was very good and Cheyenne has a good voice. A good time was had by all.

The guitarist was incredibly talented. The bartender made one of the best chocolate martinis I've had, though I cant remember her name. The food was good, but the atmosphere was really what got me. Not too pricey. Cant wait to go back

Always a great choice before a show! They kept my leftovers and I picked them up after the show.

Super slow service. Not very attentive to our needs.

Post Theatre walk over. Service not attentive, had to request condiments. Food so-so. Music too loud to have conversation. Will think twice before agreeing to go again. Linguini with clams very bland, pasta tough.

A classic venue with some old world charm. The food here is always very good. I've never been disappointed.

The last Monday of every month they have a really good band playing. They also have a good happy hour during that time.

First off let me say the rating has nothing to do with the food. The food was very good, but the service was lacking. Towards the end of our meal the waiter never came to our table for at least 15 min. We saw him visit two tables near us multiple times. We asked to speak to the manager, but was told the manager was too busy to see us. Another waiter said the owner was there and he could have him come by our table. The owner came by and after explaining our lack of service he said he was sorry, but they were really busy so there was nothing they could do. All he did was give me his business card, his name is Chuck Gardner. When we were leaving we passed another table talking to the owner and getting the same response from him. If you visit this restaurant come for some good food, but be prepared to bring your own service...

This place is amazing. Wonderful food excellent service. Phenomenal desserts.

Chicken Parmigiana tasted factory-produced and previously frozen. The pasta was cooked properly and lightly seasoned. Service was as expected, good but not great. Wine selection was limited, but nice. It is OK for its price range and the ambience was nice, but I'll look for a different place the next time I'm in downtown Houston.

It is a really cool area and food was great! Just sad to see how empty everything is because of covid.

The saddest club sandwich I have seen, one layer on a hamburger bun. The appetizers were better. The side salad was about average. The staff was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was relatively quiet. We did not get the buffet, but from what I saw on other's plates, we did not miss much.

My date surprised me with dinner here and the gentlemen, who provided the evening jazz and R&B, were phenomenal! Our server Jhordy and other staff, like Silvano and Lupe, were incredible. We chose to split the spicy version of the Marco Polo and the Grilled Chicken Alfredo with a side of cheese garlic bread. Our appetizer was the sample and it was delicious. The chocolate tiramisu didn't disappoint. We both had a lovely evening. Thank you for everything.

They make a good old fashion, the bread is amazing, the service is great, and the meals are delicious.

Portions are very large. Accommodating staff. Food is adequate.

A great place to have lunch, or dinner before or after a theatrical performance... or just because. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I recommend the Tuscan bean soup, the manicotti, and the pasta Poretti.

Husband and I went here for date night last friday. The layout was and decor was very romantic. The food was great also. I was dissatisfied with the service we received. There was only a handful of customers, but the entire staff seemed preoccupied.

The Special pizza was pretty good, but the demerits are for the staff. One would think that after so many years serving the theatre crowd the service would be silly smooth but such is not the case. The maitre'd and captains acted harried and bewildered while the waitstaff seemed to take no pleasure in their jobs.

I love their food!!! And the delivery guy is awesome.

The Food is precooked from the morning then micro waved when ordered...cold in the center..

Very delicious hot-spot in downtown Houston, well known as a destination before or after a show in the theater district. During busy times you might want to make sure you have a reservation. Food is always hot and delicious, I'd especially recommend the Grilled Chicken and Italian Sausage, or the Almond Encrusted Chicken.

Ryan, manager and Lauren, server, gave the very best in customer service.
The Alfredo sauce, bar none, is the very best. Better than my homemade Alfredo, as my wife, Elizabeth mentioned, is worth killing or dying for. She made sure I understood that, I was threatened with my own life if I touched her leftovers. Great service, food, atmosphere, the people and staff.
OUTSTANDING!!

Pros:
Beneficial location right next to downtown nightlife and some hotels
May have OK brunches (I have not tried)
Cheap happy hour drinks - local blue collars like them after work
An average chasing place, if you go the the Alley Theater play next door

Cons:
Old dusty crappy interior, seems it was not remodeled since the 1970s.
The restaurant menu says "Italian", Bar's says "Irish". Neither is good.
- Overpriced
- Not a kids friendly
- Not a romantic, any dinner or party friendly
Overall not worth spending time money - there're so many better places around.

The only thing I liked here is the sculpture. Otherwise it's just a regular spot within high rise buildings.

The staff was great and friendly. The atmosphere was great and the drinks were amazing. The appetizer i ordered was a little bland and underwhelming

I appreciated the enormous terrible the staff went to, to ensure that my dietary restrictions were catered to. That gives me confidence to want to return, and the food was delicious.

Terrible service. Waited for 3hrs to get food. Food tasted terrible I wonder if they just microwave it. Also staff is incredibly rude and makes you feel uncomfortable

Super place, good food and drinks, fast service, especially if you ask and are going to an event, it can be wise to get reservations, it can be justfiably busy. Prices are amazingly good considering the location. Jazz is good later in the evening. It's a friendly place, have met a number of nice people there. The pizza is super, and quite reasonable. Everything is good, especially the seafood, too. Staff is professional,. I have been there many times, and never been disappointed.

After the St. Patrick's Day Parade March 2019, we stopped in for lunch at Birraporetti's and ordered pizza. Oh my gracious the pizza was fantastic!!! Unique and delicious crust with fresh ingredients from side to side of their huge pizzas.
The wait staff was flawless in service and continued to excel in every way possible. Prompt, curteous and professional. Clean and classy atmosphere, a cut above the rest and the best part, the ladies bathroom is very clean. We will be back!!

Always a great spot to visit post theatre. A tradition!

The meals good. It's a nice place to choose right before catching a show.

Ryan the manager is super. Very customer oriented and works hard to please his patrons. Newly renovated after Hurricane Harvey. Very grateful we did not lose this landmark in the Theater District. Its a handsome restaurant that did not lose its vintage charm with the facelift but it's all clean fresh and new. The menu is great as always and the staff make it a memorable occasion. BirraPoretti's has been a staple of mine for many years thank you so much for being so attentive and giving us a fantastic evening once again.

A nice place to listen to music, but the call drinks were, expensive

The quality of food wasn't what it has been in the past. Table of 4, we all ordered something different. No one really cared for their dishes.

This was my first time here i was very impressed every was perfect I will return.

This review is specifically about the "jazz" brunch. Wow. I don't know when a glorified karaoke singer started qualifying as "jazz brunch" and the extra cost that comes with it. Seriously - one woman, standing behind a mini-sound mixer singing to backing tracks. Awful. Disappointing. It was our first time here and our last time.

Oh, and if you're thinking "well if the food is good then who cares". I agree. Too bad the food was blah. Cold, chewy biscuits - one guy manning the omelette bar / waffle bar / brisket station (you better believe that was a slow moving line) - plastic ware for the desserts - no sweet tea (IN TEXAS!) - I could go on but you get the idea.

Bottom line - go somewhere else.

Birraporettis downtown is my go to place when I attend theatre, alley, opera, ballet, hobby, they accept reservations & have music, too as well as Sunday brunch. My favorite is Cappelini prima Vera, toasty garlic bread, & mushroom caps , Caesar salad, before programs then desserts, & cappacino after! I recommend it & reasonably priced, nice managers,& happy waitstaff. I park in Alley garage next to it / $10.

We ordered Pasta Poretti and Straw & Hay Imperiale with Chicken. Pasta Poretti was amazing, specially if you are into goat cheese. Straw & Hay was good but not as good as Poretti.

Lobster ravioli is great with the black peppercorn alfredo sauce!

It has gone steadily downhill for the last few years. The food has become bland and oily. There does not seem to be any care for the quality coming out of the kitchen, which is a shame since they have a great spot. ***
We were asked to update and clarify - we had the mushroom caps appetizer, which were swimming in oil and cold when we received them. Second, we had the manicotti with sausage which was so dry it was inedible. It took over 25 minutes to get a replacement, by then we were done with dinner.

The drink's were terrible and bartender was slow, no personality at all when I asked to close tab he said ok, then went down the bar refilled drink's still not closing my tab, another bartender had to do it after several minutes. The older Hispanic bartender should not be waiting on people if he cant smile, speak or do what you ask.
The murder mystery was nice, but food not so much they ran out and we had to ask them to get more, they ran our of fruit before our table could go up and serve ourselves, they had other types of food that by the time your table was able to eat was gone so food was terrible, the actors and actress were amazing and nice.

I wish there was an option for less than one star. I live downtown, placed a delivery order at 12:24 PM, called for status at 1:32PM, was told it was out for delivery. At 2:02PM called back and asked for a manager. Was told the order was still not made, and no offer of discount, or anything else. Just an excuse that they got a lot of orders in a short period of time. Really piss poor. - It's now 2:46PM and I just called back and cancelled the order. Will never do business with them again.

Amazing place and so is the ambience. Being situated in the heart of Downtown, you would love to spend evening here with your loved ones. live music adds brownie points to the place. Being Vegetarian, we ordered Cheese Garlic bread, Pizza, Salad and all were perfect. The quality of Bread and Cheese was superb and I found such good taste and quality nowhere in Houston and Woodland restaurants.

Good place for pre- or post- theatre dining. Italian food, pizzas. Next to Alley Theatre.

Sorry to say but I was not impressed. Service was very slow and the food only mediocre. I have been to this restaurant many times over the years with much better experiances but we were there on theater nights and this time we went on a Wednesday night. Not sure I will come back .

Last Birraporetti's in Houston! Great little location. Eat here before a play!

Great food, good live music, our waitress (I can not remember her name, she's been working there several years and recommended we come back to see a great band) was great, all around great place I will go back!

Nice that it was open late on sunday! Server was very accommodating. Quiet and food was qood. Cheesecake was great.

If you do not have a reservation, they give you the worst tables and the worst service.
Oa food saves them a little good reason.

Food was overcooked but manager saw it on the way out and walked directly over to the table and grabbed it and took it back and brought fresh food. Gave us a commentary appetizer and dessert too. Started off not so great but ended great.

Good service, attentive wait staff, live music that wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear the other people at my table talk. I wasn't having the best night, and my waiter really went out of his way to be accommodating. all of my food was good and cooked to order, I would definitely suggest the spinach artichoke dip as a delicious comfort food option for anyone who is interested.
