Small Zoo, but lots to offer. Love how the zoo is continuing to improve attractions and layout. Buy a family membership and go frequently!

Watch for snakes I'm the park but we love this zoo. The membership is worth the money.

Not many animals was out at the time we was there but, still a good place to bring tour kids.

Really good place for kids and aduts too. Lots of parking lots available. I tool my 2 yr few times and evertime he enjoys there.

Kind of small but amazing can be done in about 2.5 hours.

Their event, Boo at the Zoo, is so much fun!! Yes there is a huge crowd and line while waiting on your tickets, however the wait is worth it. The decorations, the music, and the lights calls for some photo opportunities my fellow photographers!! Best little adventure I've ever had for the Halloween Season

My family and I had a great visit to the Birmingham Zoo today! It was very nice and we saw all of the animals out. We went early on a Sunday morning and it was a little cool, so there were hardly any people there. It was a great experience. But the reason I am writing this review and giving 5 stars is because they have a nursing room for breastfeeding moms! It was a very nice and cozy area, along with plugs if you need to pump. Being a breastfeeding mom, this is a RARE thing to come across. Good for you Birmingham Zoo!

This zoo is pretty big, but I feel like I did a lot of walking without seeing much. Birds, birds and more birds. The train ride needs to be updated, you dont really see anything at all on the boring ride through the trees. I'm really glad we went on half price Tuesday. My son did enjoy the mini splash pad.

We love this zoo, we have a good experience everytime we go. They are expanding, have events like Boo at the Zoo and a splash pad in the summer. One of our fave things is feeding the giraffes. I highly recommend looking into membership.

Covid has alot of things shut down. But half a zoo should result in half price admission. 6 kids were disappointed with things they couldn't do.

It was really clean, there were not as many animals as I had hoped for. The volunteers were great. They were as helpful as they could be. We took the train ride and I rode the camel. The camel ride was mostly so I can tell my grandkids that I rode one but it was about like a grocery store ride. The man who held the rein did answer my questions but offered no more than what I asked. I would probably go again if it came up .

Very peaceful, exciting and interesting, great place for family's!

The renovations will be completed in 2020. Just wait until then.......terribly expensive and the place is a mess! Not worth it.

I liked it a lot ... but it's better the weekend since there are shows and trainings ...

There wasn't too many animals, the reptiles house was closed, most of the animals were dead, but the place was clean and not crowded but not much to do. We finished the whole tour inside in 2 hrs

They have improved the zoo from when I was a child. My kids enjoy the place. The membership is recommended if you live in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this zoo. Great place for families. Do yourself a favor and go when it is not hot.

We love it. Its small, clean and the animals look well cared for. The train is nice and they sanitize it after each ride. The chicken tenders and frys were quite good. I would recommend it.

Birmingham Zoo is one of Birmingham's get family attractions. The area is small but they still make the most of the space to provide entertainment.

Many enclosures too dark to see what was in it...
Electric carts availble to rent for $25 but automatic doors did not work so could not go inside many buildings unless another visitor held the door. Enclosures needed work. rotten.....too small. I felt sorry for some of the animals. Bathrooms nasty!!! Bought 2 plain hamburgers with 2 fries and 2 soft drinks... cost was over $31. Hamburger meat cooked so long it was like a rock.... tables were very dirty.... I had to ask for napkins.. was told I would have to come back k for them after they had time to put some in the dispenser . Don't waste your money. A very big disappointment.

Very pleased with how they had social distancing!! A lot of the exhibits was closed, but that is ok. Me and my family enjoyed our visit and we will be making many more trips ! Maybe will purchase a membership later on!!

Beautiful zoo, a bit of it under construction, but not enough to take away from the visit. The train ride was fun and refreshing... I'd recommend grabbing a drink just before you board to maximize the benefit of the cool break.

Great place for kids and adults. You can spend a day or a couple of hours and enjoy. I recommend the membership. You can come and go as you please.

Fun zoo! Went during October and they had really cool and festive decorations. Felt some merchandise was over priced but overall it was fun and we will be back.

My family has gone for both Boo at the zoo as well as Zoolight Safari. We've enjoyed it each time.

The last two times I have been dissatisfied. The new entrance is really nice, but it doesn't make up for empty exhibits. I prefer the Montgomery zoo.

They have half price on Tuesdays; be there early if you want good parking and want a short line. The members line was shorter.

We hadn't been to the zoo in several years. A lot had changed for the better since our last visit. We will not wait so long before we go back this time.

There was nothing really just a lot of birds a lot was closed smaller then I thought everything blocked off mask were not really enforced which is a good or bad thing animals seemed sad not that great

The Birmingham Zoo is always fun. Lots of animals although you might not see your favorite (no pandas but they had flamingos and peafowl). It's very clean in visitor traffic areas too. You might want to grab a bite to eat *before* you get there. The Zoo has restaurants but the prices? Ehhh...

Other than that, it's always a fun experience especially if you go during the big seasonal events!

The Birmingham zoo had become such a disappointment. There animals are skinnny.amd sad looking all the time. They are dong to much with the construction. Its a zoo not an amusement park. They should out all that money into there animals some better environment.

Beautiful day, and everyone wearing masks and keeping distance. Love the way they route everybody, hope they keep that in the future. Only bad thing is someone broke into my car, broke my passenger window. A real shame.

This is a great place to take children and for a day to unwind. I recommend this place to families.

Always a good experience at the zoo! They just keep updating it and making it better and better!

For some reason, they get angry when you try to interact with the exhibits. There is no hunting allowed here. I'm sorry, I thought this was America!

Zoolight Safari was a hit with the 4 girls we took to see the lights.

It's not a majorly large zoo, but it's still great. There's good exhibits and a few activities to do. It's worth a visit, especially if you are a local and have not done so yet.

Going at the right time of year shouldn't decide how good the visit will be. But it does.

A great way to spend the day. Everyone was very helpful.

Excellent place of recreation .... quite species of animals and entertainment for adults and children .... excellent for a different family day

We visited during the slow season, but it was a reasonably warm day. A few animals were still out at other facilities for the winter. There was still plenty to see though. Tuesdays are a 1/2 price, no complaints there!

The Birmingham zoo is a once in a life time experience that always gets better and bigger! I could get lost looking at the money swing around like their in the jungle, or the giraffe almost touching the sky. I'm so stoked when I see the tigers and lions! Can you say KING OF THE JUNGLE!!!! I wish drinks weren't so expensive but I understand you gotta pay for the bananas some way or another but 3/4 bucks for a soda....come on..... also the train ride could be longer,maybe just more thrilling. i would bring anyone to the zoo that never been and I believe they would enjoy themselves. This zoo is so much fun for the kids and do interactive. We go as much as we can. Kids learn so much here. Don't miss it!

We did Boo at the Zoo last year, 2016, and it was a blast. Naturally we assumed it would be the same this year. This year it was really a waste of time and money and the children were very disappointed. There was not a lot to see or do... It was not supposed to be boring on Halloween night but it was. I m not sure if I want to try again next year.

the Christmas lights get worse every year and definitely isn't worth the money in my opinion. I was disappointed but it's okay for the really young children

The Zoo is a great place for Family and Kids but we didn t see many of the animals that supposed to be on display. But other than that it was ok.

BEST ZOO EVER they have so many events you can do like riding a camel and other thing, but I am not completely sure what the other things were because we came a little to late in the day to do some of them, I would say choose the day you come wisely because some of the animal will me sleep, it does get pretty hot out there so make sure you say hydrated but other then that it s a pretty fantastic place to go

Nice smaller size zoo. Family had a great time, a few hours was enough for us. There is a very nice petting zoo there . We are at the lion actually Roar ! Lots of inside places to see the animals in their habitats .
If you want to ride the merry-go-round or train, there is an additional fee. I know it cost $3.95 per person for the merry-go-round I'm not sure what it was for the train or any other rides. I would have been nice if they had a told us about that in the beginning when we came through the entrance. That was a bit disappointing for us because the boys really wanted to ride, and it was a bit expensive for a pockets. But besides that, everything else was nice. They do have a restaurant, but we brought our food and have a picnic at the tables outside of the zoo. We enjoyed it. Hope you enjoy it too!

They will literally charge full admission for a wheelchair bound handicapped child that can't really enjoy everything that is there. They could at least give them and their parents a break with a discount. We go to buffets that will not charge full price for my child. Why? Well because it is kind of wrong. It is a heck of a journey not even met midway when you see the handicapped child at the zoo or any destination. (OBVIOUSLY SEVERELY HANDICAPPED CHILD). Food is more than way overpriced as well. I did enjoy seeing some of the animals. The red pandas were cool. The staff is super wonderful. I really like how nice they are. Im sure it takes patients to work with people and animals. Just please Birmingham Zoo, please do something about the charging full admission for the obviously severely handicapped. Thanks.

Great place to carry kids and family outings. Food prices high but cango out to car if you carry sandwiches etc.

We love going to the zoo. We have a membership and carry our granddaughter once a month.

We have season passes and we love it there. The holiday special are top notch!

Variety of animals, whole exhibit dedicated to wild cats. Some animals were recovering from surgery and unavailable.
