It's a water park, lots of different places to sit, lots of water.. right now (early May) it's not so crowded so if your local it's the time to go. Season passes make it affordable to visit multiple times. Just an FYI the stone walk paths are hot on the bottom of your feet!!! There are a lot of stairs too, if stairs bother you take some something before you come and when you leave to help with inflammation (not a DR at all.. just saying). Currently my youngest is too big for the kiddie pools and slides (they don't hold his interest, he's definitely a dare devil), and too small for the Big rides, but don't worry there are some rides for him now that he's at least 42 inches tall.. Hey and if you happen to go and enjoy the park, please please don't bring your own food in, IT'S NOT ALLOWED and not fair to other parents follow the rules. Enjoy and don't forget to bring sunscreen!

We went and played their tropical golf putt putt. Course was run down and overgrown weeds. The music selection was horrible with every song having bad lyrics and messaging. I was embarrassed to be there with my daughter and won t be returning.

Biggest waste of money in Destin. Lines are long, people that work there are rude, getting food is a JOKE!!!!! I waited in line for 45 min for just to order and then after I ordered it took ever bit of an hour and some to get the food, then when I got it, the burgers were hard like they been under a heat lamp for hours and the fries were cold and soggy. This is my first and absolute last time I'll go to this place. Can you rate lower than 1 cause that what's they deserve. At least a -3

We purchased season passes for 2018 when we first came it was beautiful blue waters and clean!! Hope to purchase 2019 season passes only if they start taking care of the place. The water is cloudly & slimemy in most areas. The alge build on the walls of the wave pool shows that it must not have been cleaned in months! Please make it cleaner and nicer or else your gonna loose alot of business from.your locals!!

Grandson had a great time , no place comfortable for old handicapped people to sit that bring them there . Had to walk a very long way to get him in . Need a Rover on a golf cart to help old grandparents . This might be the only way these kids get to enjoy the water park .

We just bought passes because it was cheaper. Fun park. EXPENSIVE FOOD DRINKS AND LOCKERS. EAT BEFORE YOU COME. BE PREPARED TO DROP 15 ON A LOCKER. AND IDK HOW MUCH DRINKS ARE I FIND WATER FOUNTAINS. Overall great place for everyone! Coldest water in the park I found is the yellow submarine. Idk why. Great slides, lazy rivers, wave pool there's A TON to do.

Ok well my group at Boys & Girls Club was thinking about going here for a Junior Staff Trip, But when i read these reviews it makes me not wanna go. My husband and I went on a Saturday. We got there around 11AM ($5 to park) and we waited in line for about 10 minutes to get our tickets ($97). Afterwards we went in and purchased a locker to keep our stuff in ($11). It was definitely a necessity to have a locker and they have a lot of them both at the top of the hill by the entrance and some at the bottom of the hill opposite side. The water was as clean as you would expect a waterpark with a ton of people to be... not too bad. The slides looked safe. The food was overpriced and took forever to get (burgers $9 a piece and one drink $3 and no refills). They had plenty of nice seating to eat though which was good. The only complaints I really had were I was told I couldn't wear my watch the third time I went down the same slide... I don't know why the rules had suddenly changed. Also they NEED more tubes. It was a fight to get a tube and caused a massive traffic jam at the lazy river exits due to everyone scrounging for tubes. If they would just get few hundred more tubes..... it would be just what you'd expect of a small waterpark.

Oh and every employee that wasn't working a slide that I met while I was there acted like they hated their job. They do make them wear some very colorful shirts... so maybe that why.

If you don t want to waste money- skip the water park! Half of the rides were shut down, there was no shade, and any platform you waited on was so hot my entire family came home blisters. There was food and trash in the lazy river and barely any of the water was clean. We were not impressed and very upset with the amount of money we spent for the experience we received. Ignore the Destin, Florida advertisements!

I'm a local. I've been going to Big kahunas for over 25 years. It has new owners. The water has been low all summer. (Like they can't afford to fill it up.) The health department shut them down for a couple of days. That really should tell you all you need to know about how its being ran now. The students they bring in from all over the world to work are underpaid, most seem miserable if you take the time to talk to them. The maintenance men (probably close to the only locals that work there) are rude, like they have authority over all.

Water park itself is alright. Management is pretty bad. So many people working but the majority don't speak English and nobody seems happy to be there. I don't think you'll drown there as there are a lot of lifeguards. Food service is probably the biggest issue. Always out of everything, ice cream always seems melted and refrozen. Little things like having straws near where you sell drinks would be good, instead of having an employee roll their eyes and tell you they are 50 yards away.

Best water park in Destin, FL. A great place to take kids and the family. I recommend planning a whole day out for it. The tubing in the river is a great time to relax floating on the water with a cold drink and family.

It's pretty ghetto. At 47$ a person to get in, you would expect it to be kept up much better than it is. They obviously don't spend the money on maintenance, upkeep or beautification. It's pretty dirty to say the least. There's built up dirt on the sides of all the pools. The bathrooms are filthy and the stench is sickening. I even went in after girls had been in to "clean". Nothing was clean. It still stunk like standing urine, there was still feces and such on the toilets, all they did was use their dust pans to pick up larger trash from the floor, that didn't even include the toilet paper behind the toilets. The line for concessions wasn't really that long yet it took an hour to get through. Then when you get through they don't have what you want from the menu. most, not all, are unfriendly and uncaring. The park suspended rides due to weather, understandably, however the sky's were clear and blue for nearly an hour before they reopened half the park. Some areas were closed, were guessing they didn't have enough lifeguards to open all the areas. Then we came across a sign that says, "water is recirculated, do not swallow". Were all know kids let go in the pool. This place is gross. Don't waste your money or your time, just go to the beach.

There are many waterslides at this park and the lifeguards are very attentive about the safety of the people in the park. If it thunders the park is closed for 30 minutes since the last Thunder. There are many things for both adults and children to do.

We went here because we couldn't go into the gulf due to the riptide warnings. We were very happy we did. The boys, ages 16 and 13, had so much fun with so many water activities to keep them busy. We, lady friends, ages 66 and 61, hung near the wave pool and enjoyed that as well as the nearby float around our area. We purchased the special cups with the 99 cent refills, which was a bargain based on how thirsty we became. The food prices were good and we enjoyed lunch with burgers and chicken. There are lots of stairs to get around the park on and we were able to navigate somewhat, even though we ladies both have had back surgery.

They failed two tests this year for water cleanliness by the Health Dept. And had to get shut down. Don t waste your money here getting one of your family members seriously sick.
This place is going down hill and has been for years. So many people in there at once that you can t even get into the lazy river. Algae on the bottom of the tubes. Wood rotting all around you. The green and smelly water. The food area looks disgusting and unkept. They hire foreigners and locals and it doesn t seem like they really care to clean the place. The slides look like they haven t been painted or maintained for years. I m a local and can tell when they paint the slides. It s time they step it up because this place is disgusting. All about the money.
Also if you have kids that are young please keep an eye on them. Even their kiddy area has water that is so deep that you have to guide them up the play areas and catch them at each slide. So much work that you can t relax for a second even in the kiddy area upper and lower levels. Basically your kid can drown if your not with them. Life jackets don t help much when they come down the slide. If anything I think the life jackets turn them face down. The kiddy area shouldn t have as deep of water. And this is for 3-4 year olds that I m talking about. There just isn t much choices for young kids to enjoy themselves. You have to take every step with them to ensure they don t drown.

A great place for kids but not my fav. The water is refreshing and cool except for the wave pool which is like bath water and small. The food is over priced and unhealthy which is not an option for me. And they don t allow you to bring in any water, drinks, or food of your own. The only reason I go is because my son likes it and it s not expensive if you buy the season passes. We ve been three times this summer so feel like we got our money s worth at least. Not sure if we ll go again.

I don't normally post reviews, but after reading many negative reviews for Big Kahunas, I thought I would share my family's experience. This is our first summer living in Destin and we have been to Big Kahunas twice now. I can only say positive things about this water park. Our children had so much fun, they always want to go back again. I was skeptical about getting season passes the first time we came, just in-case the park was a disaster, but now I wish I had bought them when they were on sale at the beginning of the season. The park is very well kept - and there are always people working to clean up after guests in the dining areas . . . like spilled ketchup, etc. There are lifeguards everywhere and they take their job seriously. In other words, I can tell that they are really watching the people around them to ensure safety. I've read many negative reviews about the food . . . and I can tell you that we have only had the cheeseburgers and fries, (and of course dip-n-dots), but our food was great! I am not expecting gourmet food at a water park! Thank you Big Kahunas for providing our family with some water fun.

Lots of fun! We've been anxiously awaiting the new kids area to open though and the food is gross and expensive. Deducted an additional star because they don't let you bring water in, and tried to charge for water cups

Price was not worth the experience. The park was a confusing maze of tube allowed this and tube prohibited that. I met maybe 3 friendly staff members but noone smiles at all. We bought a soda thinking we'd get a nice souvenir to take back home with us to Texas, what we got was an old cup from 2017 with the year scratched out in sharpie and the current year written on it, when asked about it we were hastily hurried along and told they had run out of 2019 cups. Also, you have to pay to park here?! You pay something like $50 to get in and still pay for parking, and no refunds if the weather gets bad? Ridiculous. Dirty green water, closed down rides, less than friendly staff; over all I was disappointed. For what we paid to get in, this was not the experience I expected. Wont be back.

We went on Sunday and we had a blast! It was bigger than we expected. The lines for the rides were not that bad. They let you leave and come back in, so we brought sandwiches and drinks in a cooler in the car. We ate lunch on a table outside the water park. Which saved us a lot of money. The admission is pretty pricey to get in but you can look up printable coupons that will save you money as well. Also with the printable tickets you don't have to wait in line to get in. We are planning to go back next summer!

Fun

Big Kahuna was such an amazing time! It s great for kids, even infants! The tadpole pool was warm and only 1 ft high! It was such a clean environment. All the staff was polite, respectful and helpful all day long! I d definitely recommend coming here with the whole family while in Destin.

This is an awesome water park. It's huge. It has something for everyone. They have several little kid areas for babies and toddlers to play in as well as tons of fun rides for taller riders. It will definitely keep the whole family busy all day. The season passes are the best bang for your buck as well as getting the refillable cups for drinks. They have plenty of food options, prices are average to other theme park prices. They have plenty of life guards on duty at all times and fairly clean restrooms and changing areas. All in all it's a great place to spend the day.
