Big Brain Omaha broke a federal law (Americans with Disabilities Act) be refusing entry to a handler with a service dog. Tattoo parlors (and especially the front lobby where this handler was just checking out jewlwery) are NOT sterile environments, therefore, service animals ARE allowed. I will not be supporting this discriminatory business. Please check out state and federal laws, Big Brain, because you re in the wrong here.
If I could, I wouldn't even give one star! Everytime we go there we are denied for one reason or another! However, we THANK GOD for Quality Ink in Bellevue. Valerie & Leon ALWAYS come through without fail! NO MORE BIG BRAIN FOR US. PSA - Quality Ink charges less than 1/2 of what Big Brain charges.

I decided on Big Brain after narrowing down my search for a shop to do a half-sleeve that I had been planning for a while. Read a lot of good reviews about the place and looked through some of the artists' portfolios, and everything look great. Called and set up an appt and was ready to go.
I live about an hour and a half out of Omaha, but I was willing to make the drive for the quality. Things went fine at first, had a few email exchanges going back and forth with some pictures that expressed the design in intent. I'm not personally artistically skilled enough to draw something up myself, but I had a friend who's drawn some tattoos in the past sketch some stuff up so I had a good start. I'm not going to speak negatively of the quality of the work nor the cleanliness of the shop, because it was top notch.
What was frustrating was the general experience. Whereas I understand that it is not uncommon to have to draw up some parts of the tattoo and/or adjust some of what's already sketched, every time I showed up for an appointment I had a fairly significant wait time while the artist while the artist was drawing things up (45 minutes was the shortest, 2 the longest, average was a little over an hour). Maybe I'm way off base, but my assumption was that if I set up an appointment for 12:00, I wouldn't be waiting until 2:00 before I was sitting in the chair. Totally get that I was the one that made the decision to get my work done at a shop outside of the town I live, but that wait seemed excessive. Specifically when I would see fast food orders be delivered for the artist. Just would think that with some better planning his lunch could have been scheduled around the appointment that had been set up for several weeks. That typically soured my mood when I had appointments there because I had to blow an entire day for the appointment, and spent a lot of time twiddling my thumbs in the waiting area.
Lastly, just wasn't ever comfortable there. Might have just been that I didn't "click" really well with my artist, but wasn't a lot of effort put into trying to have any sort of conversation during the sessions. I understand that I maybe don't have a ton in common with the fellas at the shop personality / interest-wise, but just would think that at least a little bit of effort could have been put into at least attempting to find some common ground. I tried to make some conversation which was met with little response. I have somewhat of a blank area on my arm that I was looking for some design ideas on. Asked my artist, "Any ideas on what to put in here? I'm kind of thinking I'd like to incorporate this in...." and got a response of "I don't know. Not really thinking about that right now." I don't know. Just thought that if we're spending 12+ hours sitting next to each other there could be a little conversation, or at the very least some guidance on tattoo design. I got the impression that it was a chore to help me out with design ideas or tattoo me.
Again, just might not have been the right fit for me. Giving 2 stars for the quality of the shop. Would be an unfortunate 0 if only the customer experience was being evaluated. Would highly recommend for their quality, but would certainly recommend you look elsewhere if you're wanting to have a good overall experience.

Went to Big Brain to troubleshoot what I already believed was a botched piercing I received from another studio. I did not plan to do it at the time I did, but the ball came out and there I was driving to Big Brain in the middle of the night. Thank the lord I did as the piercing was botched far worse than I even anticipated! However, Dave Brown was a savior he pierced me again (correctly) and he was completely gentle plus informative. I just wish I went to him to begin with. Dave, if you see this thank you again for fixing it and being so kind to me. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!

Went with a friend to get his nipples pierced. Compared to other places it was very impersonal and in my experience, it's better to have a piercer give an opinion on what is better for the customer and their body type (WITHIN REASON) to get, so they can help the customer feel the most confident. I'm glad I got mine done elsewhere

Since being in Omaha, I've heard only wonderful things about Big Brain (from customers that have gotten their tattoos and their piercings done there). Just recently, I decided to get my daith piercing done - the first piercing I'll have gotten in years and the first piercing I've gotten since moving to Omaha. I looked into Big Brain, and from all that I've heard (from friends and from the online reviews), I figured it would be worth it.
Dave has done my daith and my outer cartilage piercing and he is absolutely delightful. He answered any and all questions I had and was very knowledgable, he was sociable and friendly, and was quick but careful when completing my piercings. He made the experience absolutely enjoyable and, because of him, I will 100% return to Big Brain for all of my piercing/tattoo needs.
The shop itself is clean and sanitary, and makes the customer feel absolutely comfortable and safe. The employees all look BA with their variety of piercings/tattoos, but they are all very friendly and knowledgable. Customer service is great online, over the phone, and in person.
I would absolutely 100% recommend Big Brain in Omaha to anyone with any interest in getting a tattoo or a piercing. After my time there, there is no wonder they have gotten so many of the "Best of Omaha" awards.

recently got my belly button pierced on my 18th birthday and they completely botched it. i heard great things about big brain so i decided to go there for my belly button piercing i had been wanting for years that i was so excited about. turns out my belly button wasnt even pierced. i was pierced way above my belly button to the point where i could stick my finger in my belly button and my finger didnt touch the hoop ring. really it was more of a stomach piercing. went back in to express my unhappiness with the piercing and they told me to wait a couple weeks and see how i felt about it. totally brushed me off not caring about my unhapiness and disappointment. took the horrible piercing out and now have to wait another month to get it redone after how long id been waiting for this piercing. i am planning to go somewhere else once its healed and pay another 20-30 bucks to have it done right. never going back to big brain.

I got my cartilage pierced and it was great. I walked in told them what I wanted and I was immediately helped. The guy who did the piercing was great (Dave). he talked me through everything and distracted me while he did it. I was in and out really quickly with a quality piercing at a reasonable price. Definitely will go back for any other piercings I might decide to get. Definitely would recommend for both the customer service and the quality
Sat there for 30 minutes and the dude let some girls back that walked in just cause they were cute. They don't care bout their clientele which is messed up
I've been to big brain for 5 tattoos and 4 piercings. It's been a pleasant experience every time. Everything is very clean and artists equipment is all new/quality.
Holy heck I couldn't be any happier with leaving a review of this place. From the moment I stepped in the doors, you could just feel the welcome vibe on such a professional level. I was traveling and wanted to binge buy a tat and picked this place from hearsay (Kyle at Roco's Bar downtown) and luck as it may be, got hooked up with an amazing guest artist from San Diego (@justincasetattoos on Instagram) that did such a beautiful piece on my forearm. I couldn't be happier with the work, attitudes, cleanliness of the place and overall experience. I wish I had more $$ now so I could pay Justin to do more work on my body before he leaves to the next place he will be a while lol... Guess I'll be making another 4 hour trip at tax time to see a different artist at Big Brain..... Well worth a weekend trip no lie. I even got my cleavage dermal swapped out, get this, for $5!!! I've been going to big brain for about 6 years now. I've never had a problem. All of my tattoos are perfect, and most of the piercings have turned out perfect- some not so much- but my anatomy just didn't work well with the piercing I had chosen. These guys are awesome! Keep up the good work.
I have had multiple experiences at Big Brain. Dave Brown is an amazing artist, very knowledgable, and always has done a great job with all my piercings; as well as he is always very friendly and makes everyone involved in the experience feel comfortable. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get a piercing!

I had a great experience as always at big brain. I've had several piercings from both smitty and Dave that healed quickly versus the other places I've been pierced. I had my first big chest tattoo done just a couple days ago by nick and it was done quickly and exactly how I wanted it. I love it so much. They've always made me feel welcome and have even replaced a post for me when the jewel fell out. I've even gotten some retainers for work so the piercing doesn't close up. After getting piercings I asked for some extra ointment to clean my piercings and was given a bag full to help make sure it wouldn't get infected. Excellent communication and customer service!! :) I will definitely be going back for more tattoos and piercings by these exceptional people.
I have heard awsome comments about this place but I came in today to get a second opinion on a tattoo and I wanted to add Cancer ribbons to the tattoo I had in mind but the guy I talked seemed like he did not even care or try to even help me design the tattoo sketch or try to do recommendations. All i got from him was, "uhhhh" "maybe" "i dont know" "what do you want???" In a rude lazy manner. I went to Sailor's Grave Tattoo shop and the guy I worked with was nothing but awsome. He sat and talked with me about the tattoo, helped me add the ribbons I wanted, and he created a different design that still had everything I wanted. Even though it was a much more expensive price they quoted me, I would rather spend my money at Sailor's Grave Tattoo shop rather than coming to this rude place.
Just got off the phone with the snowflake answering them. Wow completely wow. Rude from the beginning biggest inconvenience of her week. This conversation lasted 30 seconds and it makes me never want to even drive by this place again. On top of her being rude because I had questions ( the tragedy!) She HUNG UP on me before I could ask when they closed so I could make an appointment. The only appointment after that call that was needed was to this app right here. Sorry I was making you do your job, cant wait to watch you snowflakes hit maturity! Itll be a sight to see.
Every part of my experience here was excellent. Not new to piercings, but was very nervous about getting my nipples pierced. It was very quick, and the piercer was very professional and made me feel very comfortable. The pricing is great, make sure you check out the the website for $10 off- I added that to the tip! Will DEFINITELY be coming back here for future piercings.

Got my tongue pierced today by Dave, he was very professional and informative about everything he was doing and what I needed to do! It s was a very fast and easy process, overall loved the whole experience it was amazing, specially it being my first time there! I've been here on 3 separate occasions. Once to get a piercing and twice to accompany friends to get tattoos. Each time I have gone in I've had a fantastic experience. The artists who work with us are always nice. Every time someone is looking for a good shop to go to this is where I send them. It's nice and clean, art work is great, and it's just an all around good experience. I plan on going back soon!

Dave Brown is the best piercer in the world! A real Artist! He guaged my ear and it is rockin'. Did my wife's nose and tragus.. They look awesome! She has several other piercings done previously at other locations that she is not as pleased with. BIG BRAIN IS THE PLACE TO GO!!
Dave has done my last two piercings and was not only super professional but friendly and helpful as well. Piercings healed up fantastically as they have the best practices for cleanliness. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
I was told to come here to see Dave after I had asked a lady about the multiple piercings that she had. She said he was the best in the business. I ve only seen him to have my jewelry changed, but he was very personable and did a great job. The facilities are clean and the staff is helpful.
The workers at Big Brain seem to have an attitude that anyone who doesn't want a large tattoo is a waste of their time. If you live in a very tourist-y area of Omaha, you're GOING to get a lot of tourists and people who want to get small spur of the moment tattoos in that area. Don't treat your customers like their nothing but a waste of your time.
They also overcharge for small tattoos, I had them give me an estimate for a small tattoo. After giving me the attitude that I was a waste of their time the estimated me at $120. I found another place in Omaha that had a much better attitude and did a GREAT job on the tattoo for only $60.
If you only want a small tattoo, I DO NOT recommend going to Big Brain. You're a waste of their time (find a better place). If you're wanting a large, intricate tattoo, I've been told they treat you with a bit more respect.

We called 2 weeks in advance to visit with an artist for tattoos and were told that we did not need an appointment, however this apparently was wrong. We will not be going back to this location but will be going to the west location, very friendly there and a lot more chill environment.
It's been almost a decade since I got my last tattoo and I finally decided to go in for more ink so I decided to look at the shops here in Omaha. After doing some searching I found Jason Morrow at Big Brain and I was attracted to his black and grey style of tattoos.
My experience from first walking into the door all the way to the healing process of my tattoo has been extremely positive. Everyone there is always really nice and chill and none of the guys in the shop have been rude to me, even when it is super busy.
Jason did an amazing job on my ink and I can't wait to get more work done by him. Overall this is a great shop with great staff. I will be recommending this shop to other people!
I've gotten all 23 of my piercings here and I've never been disappointed.
Dave did great with my Monroe percing. He was quick and gentle. I had to go back because my lip decided to swell bigger then my stud. So my stud was starting to in bed into my lip. (Not their fault some people just swell more then others!) But they helped me change it to a longer one to fix my problem. It was easily fixed. I love how they genuinely care and take care of everyone! Thank You!

I just wanted to say again how great Dom has been working on my arm. My half sleeve means a lot to me and has a lot of deep meaning. To see what I've thought of for so long brought to life on my arm really means the world. He's been super cool and answered any question I asked. He's helped the time in the chair pass and I couldn't of got any more lucky with with an artist.
This is my first tattoo and I am so happy I chose big brain. You guys are awesome everyone at the shop is friendly and inviting. I plan on more tattoos and no doubt I will be coming to you guys.

I've had most of my piercings done by Dave and I will keep coming back because of him. He does such a great job and will take the time to discuss and answer any questions/address any concerns one might have. It's a beautiful space with plenty of waiting room (which is needed on the weekends as it does get busy, expect a wait if you don't have an appointment, but worth it).
We were given as price of 60.00 for 4 simple words I LOVE YOU MOM. 120.00 FOR A DATE TO BE ADDED. The artist says were not putting the date on. Still ended up being 140.00 for unfinished work .

I just want to give a huge shoutout to Dave. My girlfriend and I went in to get a nose and Medusa piercing and Dave helped us out. Super cool and knew his stuff. After finishing up he could tell that she was getting a little lightheaded and immediately helped her out and really took care of her. No doubt we found our new favorite shop and will be back again.

I agree with all the other 1 star reviews. No customer service. None. Zero. I refuse to get a tat here. Id rather go to any other of the 500 tattoo shops in omaha. Idk how they have 3.5 stars? Thats asinine. Their artwork is good but ive seen better. They might be good in the Midwest, but lets see one of them go against any artist in LA or NY. Theres plentyyyyyy of other good artists out there where u can get ink'd up. I dont recommend even going in to this place. Id recommend if u want to be treated like a nuisance then by all means go here. Id give this place 0 stars if it would let me.
Terrible service. Drove from Lincoln, NE. Was told if we were here by 11:00 that we would get in. Nope denied and told they stopped tattooing at 11:00
The staff was really friendly however I got my bellybutton pierced there last Tuesday I didn't notice anything wrong until the next day when it seemed a bit swollen I realized the piercer didn't put a belly piercing in it at all or anything with room for it to heal instead he put a short barbell that tightened on my piercing leaving it irrated short story it got infected and I had to take it out even though I did everything the piercer said and cleaned it with said products my friend that got her ear done he argued about what kind of jewelry she said she would heal better with. Great piercer just needs to make sure he is putting the right jewelry so cases like this don't happen.
