Roast very tough and fatty, paper napkins. Cold in the resteraunt. Better at a Toby, larger portions of meat, friendly staff ( not pretentious) warmer, comfort much nicer ...better value.

"Warm" furnishings, kindness and helpfulness of the staff as well as quality of services offered. Perfect cleaning.
George hotel has gone down, service from the kitchen is very slow. They can't get orders right. The only good person is kristoff he is most helpful. S Parkes
The ladies thought the carvery was not too good on this occasion.
we book 3 double rooms .2 of the rooms were fine ,my room was very small it had a 3/4 bed not a double and no fridge as the other 2 rooms had fridges .plus we had to wait till 8/20 before breakfast was served
Beautiful place and fabulous food at a reasonable price.
Mixed review, Firstly the Restaurant food is amazing, we ate an evening meal with a wedding party, every course was incredible and the staff so attentive. Special thanks to Mark the Restaurant manager for making it extra special.
Here s the bit that lets it down. The reception staff, 2 different ladies where absolutely vile from start to finish, no customer service skills at all, not even a polite friendly smile upon arrival. One lady was very unprofessionally, kicking off at the duty manager regarding a new system in place which she hadn t been trained on in front of guests, I wish I had taken names but these 2 women need sacking because they are a very poor Addition to the hotel. We stayed on Saturday 27th and it was clearly a lively little town which is really nice, what you don t want is to hear this in your room at night until 3am in the morning, single pained glass windows in such a noisy area, not clever ,very poor.
I would 100% stay for food again but as for the hotel and front of house staff, it has put me off ever booking a room with them again.
Had afternoon tea here. We were somewhat disappointed. We had expected that some of the cakes would have been made on the premises but that was most definitely not the case in the gluten free plates. For the other plates, the scones may have been on the premises. One of the sandwiches provided was beef, it could hardly be described as dainty though, as the slice of beef was more a chunk! We'd have loved to have been offered more tea/coffee part way through but this only happened after we'd finished. Over all very disappointing.
Wonderful staff. Was there for a wedding. Alan was particularly helpful coordinating everything. Front desk was great, room was comfortable and clean. Food could have been better but otherwise no complaints. Great experience.
Plenty of space between tables in the bar.
Felt comfortable in these uncertain times
Had our wedding here and it was fantastic! Especially considering the current covid restrictions. Food was beautiful and staff very helpful
If I could have given no stars I would have done.
I stayed 3 nights and will be unlikely to visit again.
They state they have a lift to all floors which is correct. They do not say that a large proportion (in the words of reception) of the rooms are not accessible via the lift. Only take limited luggage
If you have breakfast get down early while the food is fresh . If not like me you will get poor quality food that has sat there for a long while.
Watch the uneven floors by some of the rooms. It is an accident waiting to happen. If you do slip / trip on the uneven floor I hope the staff are more interested than when I slipped.
The furniture in the room would not be expected to be modern but should be of good quality which it wasnt..
On a positive note the bar area is excellent and so is the quality of the drinks and evening food. Its such a pity that everything is not to this standard.
Had a lovely afternoon tea for my mothers birthday today..staff were lovely and friendly and the sandwiches and cakes were scrumptious washed down with some prosecco will definitely re-book again x
Very nice. Peaceful, comfortable clean rooms, excellent service!!! Shame i was too ill to fully enjoy it
Nice coffee, very pleasant and helpful staff, the prices are reasonable.
Visited on Boxing Day with my family. We were booked in for 3 o clock and arrived on time and shown to our seats, plenty of staff to assist you, but service was poor, not offered if we would like water on the table, 2 were left waiting for soup, bread rolls were offered when people had finished, they were rock hard and came with no butter. Carvery, well powdered mash, hard roasters, parsnips inedible, and no sprouts left. We were never approached to see if we were ok or if we needed anything, only plus desserts were ok. Very disappointed!!!
We were at the George for a Christmas party and stayed overnight. The party was brilliant and the food served was great. Breakfast was good as well. The room was small, but comfortable - However, it could do with a refurbishment and is the only reason I dropped from five stars.
Much improved rooms after a refit. Olde worlde charm with creaky floorboards. Buffet breakfast is not bad (I prefer cooked to order). Very good location with cathedral, shopping and lots of restaurants very close by. Real ale on cask (they use a sparker though: common in this area).
Nice little hotel on the high street. Driving can be a bit of a nightmare
Nice hotel had my daughter's wedding ceremony and drinks reception food and party was looked after by the team very well just a shame about the mess up at the booking out
Lovely place, very quaint. Good food and entertainment. Rooms are lovely with some beautiful views of Lichfield cathedral
Good meal and service good. We were sat at the back of the restaurant as we were a large party and although that was not a problem at all,l the lighting was quite dark - I could have done with a miner's helmet on!
Had drinks and dinner on evening when the city would obviously be busy. Staff levels were low and customer service was lacking. Food was mediocre at best with portion sizes being very small. Admittedly the food wasn't particularly expensive. Not keen on returning.
We had a lovely stay here as well as afternoon tea and an evening meal. Helen the assistant manager was really helpful and friendly. The room was clean and warm but the decor was dated and the bathroom needs an update. All in all we had a lovely stay and would come again
Located in Lichfield City Centre, close to restaurants. Large function room
Lovely food . Friendly and efficient staff. Comfortable and relaxing surroundings
Had a lovely time at Lola Lamour cabaret evening. Great entertainment, good food, nice room, pleasant helpful staff and a great breakfast Looking forward to next time!
The room is a little cold
Sound insulation is not good
The water comes out well
Popped in for a quick beer. Ice cold and just what the Doctor ordered.
A nice traditional British hotel, well worth a visit.
Fabulous hotel in the heart of the city close to all places to visit also great place for meetings
Loved the place. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Good food, good value and taste great. Will definitely eat there again
Professional setup and staff, good clean hotel.
Bathroom tub size small though room size was good. Food seemed a bit on the expensive side.
Breakfast was good, fresh and had reasonable variety.
Lovation of the hotel excellent.
Best western, great rooms & good food, staff are really helpful.
Just been to the hotel for a wedding the staff were all very friendly and helpful. A great weekend
Clean, tidy and spacious rooms. Staff were helpful, polite and friendly.
Love the George just popped in for lunch with family in the bar. Service was a little slow and one part of the order was wrong when it got to the table but was rectified at once. Staff helpfull and friendly. One thing I did notice was a double plug on the was that was smashed and a child could easily put it's fingers in and touch live wires. Not the usual standard I would have expected but let's hope it's fixed ASAP.
Perfectly pleasant hotel-priced sort of a place. No complaints.
Fantastic afternoon tea with 14 adults and four children for a 70th birthday celebration absolutely nothing to much trouble for any of the staff would have. No trouble recommending
Booked for a surprise birthday 'meeting', and did not disappoint. Good carvery, sufficient choice of veg and meats/fish, very good table service, and the total cost was a pleasant surprise.
Choice of 2 or 3 courses, all at a good price, good coffee, (something many places fail to get right), and water on the table quickly replaced when empty.
My wife, a very fussy eater, says we will be back. High praise indeed!
Staff are brilliant, hotel clean and tidy, breakfast lovely, little dated but does add to character.
We had our wedding here. A beautiful room with excellent service from start to finish.
Had a lovely meal great service would definitely go again
Food and service very good. The restaurant was a bit cold and could do with a bit of a revamp to make it look a lot less hotel-like and beige - it lacked character and vibe that's for sure.
We had a lovely welcome from Roger at the bar and amazing selections of gins.
Clean room/bedding/towels
Friendly staff
Spaciousness of room
Free toiletries/shower cap/tissues
Fridge in room
Tea/coffee making facilities/biscuits
Superb choice at breakfast
Excellent value
Excellent bar food at a very reasonable price
The hotel is clean and comfortable. Breakfast in my room was excellent. However the excessive preauthorisation of the credit card was both unexpected and very inconvenient for me. I will be seeking somewhere else to stay for future visits to Lichfield.
Perfectly situated in the middle of Lichfield, parking on site. Staff really helpful with directions and maps. A very enjoyable stay as a tourist this time!
Will certainly be back again
Not a bad place, friendly staff, nice rooms overall nice night sleep
Lovely pub but unfortunately we were after lunch and they were not serving food! So we left.
Lovely place well decorated and the fynction rooms are large and have a good selection of options depending on the event, including an in house dj. Staff are welcoming and friendly.
All right for a bite. Busy on Saturday with events. Beer was not the best a bit on the warm side. Staff was accomodating. Childrens menu sausage and mash was good. The lemon tart was nice, not too sweet.
I lovely old hotel that has amazing facilities and interior so stay there if you visit Lichfield
Very pleasant and comfortable but staff very abrupt on Saturday
An ok budget hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are quite small and basic but it was quite cheap and clean. Loses a star because my room was hotter than the sun, even in March. It was 5am before the open window brought the temperature down to somewhere sensible.
Clean and traditional, staff are friendly and they are great with hosting booked events
