we came to view this venue when initially booking our wedding. The staff were lovely and it was a pleasant venue with nice views ect. Only thing that put me off was the awful oily chip shop smell that seemed to fill the entire hotel. It would have otherwise been perfect venue.

Stayed here at the weekend for Valentine's day. The house and surroundings make for a lovely olde- worlde atmosphere. Our room was spacious with a stylish mix of modern and antique and with great views over the the river and falls.
Restaurant does a limited but excellently prepared menu and looks out over the gardens to the countryside beyond.
Service was efficient and friendly and they were only too happy to help us stow our bicycles safely in their outbuilding.

My wife and I just got married at The Dovecliff and we had the most amazing experience that we could have ever dreamt for. From the initial viewing and discussions a year ago, through the planning stages and our last minute changes, all the More

A lovely place to celebrate a special occasion for a meal or overnight. Close to the main road network, but feels a world away. Pheasant grounds to stroll around. Building full of character. Staff very friendly and attentive. Excellent food. All boxes ticked !!

Really use to like this hotel: however, if you are a single occupant, you now have to pay for TWO breakfasts - this wasn't always the case, I have previously stayed here on a single occupancy : won't be booking to stay here again - you only have to look slightly further a field to find a better deal

Visited for our 5th wedding anniversary and was greeted with a warm welcome. Had a lovely time with the Anton the new owner showing us round what he has managed to do since taking over just over a year! Lovely to revisit and would highly recommend!

Really loved it. Specially prepared dining room was great. Ambiance so good. Reminded me of the 80's when it was so good. Staff spot on. Good wine choice and tasty food. Small wedding group well looked after. Would recommend.

Absolutely lovely place. Went there for a meal to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The staff were helpful, friendly & perfect, but the best bit was the food. Cooked brilliantly, tasted fantastic and all to a high standard, but with a good portion size. The cheeseboard was the best my father and I have ever had eating out, the chutney on it must be tried. I highly recommend this establishment.

Disappointed to say the least.

As a note for the gents, be aware the windows in the men's ground floor toilet aren't frosted glass so people who are standing outside can look in on you while you are using the restroom.

Nice from front. Room we had was downstairs with opening doors to garden. Door did not close unless locked. Not sealed right had loads of lady bugs and other creepiest coming in. Bed was solid was like sleeping on a slab. The doors opened and was a little grass and bushes with sound of a river or waterfall streaming from somewhere. The breakfast was included thankfully but we're little to be happy with. Had 2 types of egg as 1st had slime from not been cooked long enough and the scrambled eggs were runny. It was a very small amount. Now for the price of the place you expect nice and fancy that does not mean that we do not eat a lot and want flowers and leaves on our plate and beans served in a side jam dish. We hoped for a nice big breakfast. That we did not get.

Fantastic setting but the food didn't live up to expectations. The experience was beyond that of an ordinary visit to a pub for food but the food itself was mainstream. Why can't anyone serve a decent well cooked fish dish?

I had great expectations for this hotel with my partner after a poor experience in a previous hotel that week in Reading.
The setting is lovely but not so far as to be spectacular, our bedroom had the patio doors with seating outside however, this proved drafty, noisy and allowed bugs to enter the room several times, the door did not latch shut and had to be locked for it to stay closed.

The bed was a fantastic size but very firm! not the comfort i was expecting, the rooms are in need of an update but that being said they are a good size .

The breakfast left a lot to be desired! we had the full cooked breakfast and both times the fried egg came out burnt, the black pudding looked awful , the scrambled egg was way over buttered (mushy, gooey) and the beans were anything but a nice.
the nicest part was the toast and jam provided.
the cereal bowls were too small to hold the contents of the box and left me feeling puzzled in case i had used a saucer instead.

on a plus note, the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and the setting was relaxing.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels and returned to many but, this will not be one of them.

Very nice hotel in the English countryside. Extremely friendly staff that goes above and beyond. Rooms show their age, but are well maintained and very quiet. Restaurant serves excellent breakfast made to order (I believe it is included, not 100% sure since my company booked my stay) and unique dinner meals with a good wine selection. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel and grounds are lovely. The room I stayed in was perhaps a bit dated and could maybe have done with a lick of paint and a new carpet thought. Breakfast was delicious and all seemed very fresh and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Recently stayed at the Dovecliff Hall to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday and it was perfect. Could not fault anything, room was perfect, food was perfect and the gardens were stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful. I didn't want to leave! Will definitely be returning. Thank you Dovecliff Hall.

Had the most amazing take away afternoon teas from the gorgeous Dovecliff Hall, our first was to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary and the second was a festive afternoon tea, both were stunningly delicious, and such a luxurious treat! Thank you to all involved making our celebrations so special during these challenging times.

Amazing. They switched a few cakes that i didnt want, and they were very responsive with their replies as I organised it through email.
The afternoon tea was lovely and served promptly by a lovely waiter who social distanced. It's a shame it was so empty but I hope it picks up for them again. I'll certainly visit again in future. The food was lovely and not a ridiculous price. Lovely grounds to walk round after :)

I only stayed one night. The hotel is set in a lovely location and grounds. The hotel may be a bit in need of modernising but the rooms and ceilings are spectacular. Both dinner and breakfast were home cooked and delicious, all very reasonably prices. All the staff are incredibly friendly and so accommodating. They made me feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. 5 stars because I will definitely be recommending this hotel to friends and colleagues.
