Without words, this place does not know what to say about such an extraordinary place because it is not only a foundation that gives care to its mascotics but is prepared to give them up for adoption so that you have someone who gives them a lot of love and affection. If you want a pet do not pay for one in another place go to Best Friends Animal Society and you will have a true friend who is looking forward to be loved by you.

I have adopted Animals from here and all of them have died after one year I don't think that is a coincidence! I have had other pets for 10 years and 5 years I have adopted from other shelters that are doing just fine! I have had friends adopt animals from here with similiar experiences NEVER returning to adopt another animal from this place just to fall in love with it and have it die!

Would not reccomend getting an animal from here. They do not take the time to get to know these animals. I got a cat from there she was about a year old when I got her. Ever since then I ve had nothing but problems the cat pees all over the floor and rips up chairs. They told me she was trained she clearly was not, even after I trained her she continued to destroy my furniture pee on the floor.

The place is very helpful, but once I asked they to trim my dogs nails and all 18 nails got hurt, they cut the vein even with white/transparent nails. I am really disappointed, I just wish they could stop doing that, because doesn't look like an accident.

If they really wanted you to adopt pets they would pick up the phone. I've called half a dozen times at different times of day because I am interested in disabled animals (hard to adopt out I hear) but the voicemail box is full and no one ever picks up. I get people are busy, but potential adoptions might increase if you answered the phone.

The only thing that I wish they would have said is that the chip is useless unless registering is completely by you. We did not know that about the adoption process.

Such a nice staff and a beautiful organization. They helped my best friend get a cat and we're so understanding and patient with all of our questions! They also have the best interest of the animals at heart, which is a wonderful plus. I highly recommend checking them out the next time you want to adopt an animal.

Customer service anyone? We wanted to adopt a kitten and it didn't work out. The girl working there didn't bother to explain that what she wanted us to do was actually a POLICY, not simply something she thought that we should do. We were uncomfortable with what she was asking us to do. So once we told her that we would need to take some time to reconsider adopting, she began to lecture us about things that aren't her business at all. Literally lecture, not even advise. She was incredibly rude. Oh, and in front of other customers too! Incredibly unprofessional!

This place is absolutely amazing, they treat the animals with so much care and love and the staff is so helpful, giving all of the information on the animal and details that tell you so much, good and bad, that make the adoption decision much easier.

No kill animal shelters are the way to go! Best Friends are so much cleaner and more inviting than the county shelters. The animals are there to see during the day then go home to a loving family at night till they're adopted.

Almost a year ago I was rescued by a furry friend from your place. Her name is Scout and she is amazing. She has come so far since the day I took her home. She is so loving and loves to be by my side at all times. Thank you Best Friends for finding my best friend.

This organization is so wonderful. To start, my partner and I have fostered through them over the last year. Their foster coordinators are incredibly dedicated to their job and stop at nothing to help out. Across multiple foster pups, we have had questions, concerns, and inquiries throughout. BFAS has always been accommodating and helpful - more than I could have imagined! This organization is definitely one of the best - if not the best - in the valley for fostering. I would HIGHLY recommend their foster program. They provide all supplies necessary to be successful, as well as support. You simply need to provide a loving home while these animals find their forever homes! Also, don t rule out heart worm positive pups. They re really not too high maintenance. Secondly, we ended up adopting a pup (that we were fostering). The process was smooth and easy. Overall, we love all that y all do, Best Friends!!

They had a puppies event we went to. Lots of fun and saw lots of puppies being adopted. Sadly every time I've been there there are the same dogs living there I wish they could find a good home.

We got our cute little biscuit(cat) here not to long ago after about week we took him to get his shots. They could not give him shots because he had an abscess(we did not see it on his neck because it was covered by all of his fur. ) We immediately took him to the vet to find out the microchip had grown out the back of his neck. He was WAY to little to get a microchip and entirely too small to have already been neutered. This mistreatment of kittens is gross. To a group so committed to animals you come to expect better of them.

We just got our kitten here. He was very well taken care of and had all of his vaccines and boosters up to date. He was also already neutered which was a plus. They are very nice in educating you about taking care of your new pet.

Adopted my cat from here a little over two weeks ago! He's the sweetest thing! All of their cats that I've interacted with are so kind and have had different sorts of touch training. You can go and meet the cats and hang out with ones you like one on one. I definitely recommend adopting from here!

We didn't end up adopting a dog but received a lot of helpful information from the workers. They genuinely wanted us to find a dog to adopt whether it was at their business or somewhere else.

Love Best Friends Animal Society, and Colorado could learn to drop their adoption prices; the Sugar House office was small & clean, but the staff on Valentine's day could have been more pleasant & could have actually attempted to smile a bit & make people feel welcomed.

Best Friends is my favorite and in my opinion the best rescue in Utah. Their staff is always kind and they really care for the animals.

I absolutely love best friends and the entire company and the values they have when it comes to the care and treatment of homeless dogs/cats. Although today was a terrible experience with one of the front desk adoption receptionists. I have been looking for a dog to adopt for sometime now and I had thought I had found the perfect one! We go into the meet n greet room and everything was going great until I handed in my application to adopt a dog named marshmallow. While away in the room he did not want to be near my dog we brought to meet him and he sat in the corner. He had also growled at her twice when she approached him. We had expressed our concerns with it when the attendant had come back in the room. We were essentially told it wasn t a concern and it was actually a good thing he was growling because he was trying to communicate with her. Although understandable I do not need to be told I m wrong about my concerns and me pulling my dog away when he had bared his teeth at her. I was protecting my own dog and the safety of the other before a terrible situation arose. Not only that but she also had told me heartworm was rare in Utah and tests were expensive. Which is also false. I happen to work at a vet clinic where we have gotten a few positive cases and where testing is very cheap and only costs 27.99 as well as doing frequent studies with Elanco the company who created interceptor the leading heartworm preventative as well as prohart6. I am extremely dissatisfied with my service as I was hoping we could arrange to meet with other dogs as well and just found one that fit my current pups personality instead of feeling like I did something wrong for protecting my dog or having any concerns. I have trained extensively with guide dogs for the blind as well as k9 protection work so I am familiar with the signs of when I should and should not let me dog continue to bother another while it s getting uncomfortable. I appreciate what best friends does as a company but not how I was treated as a customer and a potential new home for a pup. I did have some good experiences with a few of the other adoption attendants before hand I appreciated that they took time to answer a lot of my questions as well as helping to introduce the two making it a more comfortable situation.

I love the FOSTER program. Megan takes care of all the dogs so well. She will give you the dog both work to you and the dog:) I foster the dog for adoption and drop the dog everyday:)
You could drop the dog 7am~11am or a little bit later. Pick up 6pm~6:30pm.

My daughter has wanted to foster kittens for a few years, this is the year! Together we went to the orientation, it was interesting, informative, precise and to the point. We learned about the good Best Friends is doing and learned how to care for our foster kittens! Our foster coordinator was so friendly, caring and quick to get us set up with our kittens. We're only a few days into fostering our 4 kittens, but we are looking forward to having a positive experience with Best Friends!

I rented two cat traps free of charge to attend to the kitty situation at my office building. Staff is knowledge and grateful to have community members helping the cats on their own time. Ended up getting 5 cats for TNR! Now they're back at the office park living life.

They did a really good job fixing my cat. She was back to normal fairly quickly and had no problems with the incision. Only downside to this location is the floor was super sticky and that kinda grossed me out...new cleaning solution maybe??

Best Friends in Salt Lake City is awesome! It is always very clean, the staff is helpful and friendly, and they have a good rotation of animals from shelters all over the city. Come here for your next pet... Adopt don't shop!

I've been a part of their foster program and have had a very positive experience with them. This organization does a great, generous job looking after pets in need. I would definitely recommend adopting/fostering from them and donating.

although I can't have a pet right now in my life I have several from shelters in the past and I go there just to spend time with the cats mostly

They are great with helping me feed my feral cats that I did TNR on.

When our Senior Cat passed, we knew that we wanted another cat and Best Friends was the first (and last) place that we looked. Now, let me get beyond some of the gripes expressed in some reviews: it is in Sugarhouse so yes parking and traffic can be an issue; it also is very busy at times and their volunteers may not be able to answer calls so fast. But you're not going there for something to do or looking for a social call--you're looking for a new member of your family and for us this was the best adoption experience we have had.

For us, the location was easy to get to and very clean, new, and friendly. The space is amazing. We felt no pressure at all in visiting the many cats and spending time with them to assess their temperament....especially with a four year old daughter in tow.

Beforehand we did Email and got a nice and informative response.

The selection of cats and kittens was downright impressive. For someone who was pretty particular (we wanted a Himalayan or Siamese mix) we had no issue. And actually to tell the truth it was not looks but personality we really assessed. Some shelter cats are traumatized and sad. These cats and kittens were right at home and really acting like themselves.

We settled on Juneau...now Leonard or Len or Len-Burrito depending on you ask. He is a six-week old Siamese mix and has been nothing but love and happiness for us.

Before we walked out with him and paid the donation fee (a reasonable amount for the facility and care he had received), we had a 30 minute consultation with the volunteer who showed us his full medical history--vet report and all. She also went over his Microchip information, suggested some awesome vets, and made it clear that if it didn't work out to bring him back because they were committed to him. It was really quite impressive and our vet was impressed that we knew so much about him on our first visit.

So I can't say enough good about them. Go check them out and know that, yes, parking may be an issue and it may be busy.

It was easy to learn about services provided when I called. I got two brand new kittens and as a first time pet owner was able to get both spayed and neutered for $20 total. Plus they emailed me all the information that they told me over the phone so the procedure was clear. They allowed me to drop off my kittens before work and pick them up when I was done with work at the end of the day, super convenient and friendly!
