Bert's Bar Review

The service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious and so was the price. I will definitely recommend it, as it was too us.

This little place right on the edge of Matlacha and Pine Island is a treasure. The grouper is amazing along with it being on the water is a must!

Good food, decent prices, awesome views. Great place to see dolphins.

Friendly local bar. Locals make you feel welcome. Can get very busy at peak times.

Great island vibe. Right on the water and the food was fantastic. I had the calamari basket and my friend had the philly cheese steak. Both were great and the prices were reasonable.

Always a fun night at Berts. Would have been perfect except for the smoker at the next table on the outside deck. Would hope Berts will change their smoking policy by banning all smoking in the dining area inside and out. Other than that, love the place!

Fun, quirky, casual, and great food. We had mahi mahi and grouper dinners.coomed two different ways. Both were perfect. Fries were hot, homemade chips were good, and the salad was very fresh. The live music was nice the staff were fun and friendly.

We've eaten at Bert's many time. We never had to wonder if the food was good or not, because it's always perfect! The servers are always polite and will come to the table occasionally to see how things are and if there is anything else that we want.
Because of the rain outdoors today, we ate indoors and were treated to wonderful steel drum island music by "Calypso Magic" drummer Skip Elliott Bowman.
Never a disappointment, always a treat to eat at Bert's.

The best fish I've had from anywhere. My wife refuses to eat fish but tried it and like it.

Great views and great choices for food. service is good considering the time of the day.

Love the atmosphere, but a little stingy on the shrimp in the buffalo basket - my 14 year old son had to order 2 baskets which made our afternoon outing a little pricey.

The food was very good. The grouper was obviously fresh and had good taste and texture. The sweet tea was good too. If it weren't for the pandemic I'd give it 4-5 stars.

BUT...if you care anything about COVID-19 safety this is NOT the place. Waitstaff has no masks in sight, no distancing at all, and there's no sanitary measures.

When we walked in we got an eyeroll and some very easily readable passiveness from the hostess. I was called a sissy f**got by another customer. Our waitress was very kind but again no masks. I will not come back and I will not recommend based on atmosphere, sanitation, and service.

Great food, peel and eat shrimp, coconut shrimp, grouper sandwiches, beach bread all enjoyed outdoors on the dock.

Probably the best restaurant I have eaten at on the water. We pull up in our boat and have a nice view of the water. Don't let the rustic decor fool you. Wife and I share the triple tail meal and clam strip meal. Beer on tap is very reasonable even in a regular setting. Also, beer lines must be much cleaner than most bars. Yuengling is wonderful. Wife said don't get the Mahi Mahi. Love love love this place. Live music at times.

We enjoyed the setting at Bert's....on a dock / deck at the waters edge. We bothe enjoyed a grouper sandwhich and draft beer. The wait staff is friendly and there is great atmosphere. Be sure to visit the shirt/ gift shop across the road.

First the positives...service was good and the sandwiches we had (one grouper and one lobster roll) were good. Lobster roll bun was soggy. Sides of cole slaw and home made chips were both just ok.
On the negative side, there were no signs whatsoever of covid measures. None of the staff were wearing masks and tables were too close to each other. Under one table nearby, remnants of food that looked like it had been accumulating for some time.

Fish was very good lightly breaded so you could actually enjoy the fish... cannot beat the view outside... actually saw dolphins

Awesome service. I got a cheese burger and fish dip, my fiance got a calamari basket with chips (the homemade kind) everything was excellent

Very good dive bar. I would have rated it 3 or 4 stars until this young guy started playing. Truly a remarkable musician and great guitarist. If you're in the area while he's scheduled to play, take the time and go see him. Other that that, the food was good as was the service. It's located right on the water do you have beautiful views as well.

Sweet waterside bar and grill in Matlache, good food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Only downside is they are a beer and wine adult beverages only establishment.

Nice waterfront bar & grill. Service was slow and the grouper dinner I ordered had bones in the grouper, the fries were soaked in the juice from the bone in fish but the coleslaw was good. Not so good for a $23 meal!! I asked the waiter if it was normal for them to serve fish with bones in it and his reply was YES. Unfortunately that's the price you pay when you get fresh seafood. Lol. Not the first time I have ordered fresh grouper in the area.

Great little place for locals or visitors. Nice atmosphere inside and out.
