Awesome staff! They are always super-friendly and helpful. The store has the best assortment of high end gear in the Denver/Boulder area.

I own a small shop based in Summit County...had a customer special order a ski from us who needed it ASAP and needed an AT binding moved from his old ski to the new one on super short notice because he was taking a ski trip to South America the same week. I didn't have a mounting jig for the binding in question, so I was calling around and got all kinds of crappy responses from other shops. I called Bentgate the same morning the ski was supposed to arrive, with the customer arriving from Steamboat about 2 hours prior to closing, and they hooked it up! No BS, no industry back-scratching, no moaning, they just made it happen and everyone was happy! Seriously the most legit "core" shop on the front range, and it's not even close!

Super helpful and knowledgeable staff. Had a wonderful boot fitting with Matt and he guided me through to the best possible choice for my foot and skiing. Highly recommend heading here if you're looking for experts in anything skiing, climbing, or the outdoors in general.

Most of the staff is great as long as you are not unlucky to get the angry old guy who seems like he does not want to sell anything

To the best of my knowledge, one of only a few stores in the country that sell the best gear for the biggest mountains. I'm lucky to have this nearby, most people can't go to a store and actually see this stuff before buying it. Great prices too.

I tried on climbing shoes for 45 minutes and the service was just as good at the beginning as it was at the end. Great selection too.

Bentgate staff is both friendly and can answer any tech questions you have . This says A Lot compared to the service you get at our national Coop.

It's a smaller REI with the prices of... Well... What you'd expect a small REI to have. This place is extremely expensive, but quality outdoor gear is expensive. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help and answer the many questions you'd undoubtedly have when purchasing equipment that may save your life. Climbing gear is plentiful here and the staff has the experience to sell you anything you need. If I ever need anything, I got to Bent Gate. Not because of the bargain, but because I know I can harass the employees and get answers. If you want online prices and want to play the fitment guessing game, then that is an option. Oh, they also have a small climbing wall.

Having been to lots of ski shops over the years, Bentgate is the best. The staff is the most knowledgeable and helpful overall. Today Greg helped me with a complicated binding remount for a pair of Lumen's and a unique ski boot repair. Thanks Greg and Bentgate!

The customer service at this place was amazing. Forget about the awesome gear and my gear addiction. They have it all, but that s beside the point. I want to share my experience. My climbing Guru was going to take me ice climbing for the first time and so I rented all the gear and was able to pick it up the night before and return it to days later for the same charge, which I thought was pretty impressive.

First off I thought the price was super reasonable and expected it to be a lot more to rent boots crampons and ice tools. By the time we got to the ice wall, it was not climbable. Too sketchy. So we went immediately back to the store and they actually offered to refund my money. That is rare these days. These will be my go to guys for all of my mountain gear needs from now on. Thank you so much for being so awesome!

I ordered a single book on climbing from them and will be giving them as much business as I can from now on. Not only did I receive some of the best customer service, but they also included a second book on training with my purchase for free as a nice surprise! Bentgate is one of the best gear shops I have ever experienced. The staff is extremely courteous, professional, and have a ton of collective experience/knowledge in the outdoor pursuits. They will work hard for you and they have all the top gear and selection... Don't waste your time elsewhere, these guys are good.

The crew at Bentgate Mountaineering are some of the most knowledgeable folks that I've come across in the outdoor industry. I've ordered a couple different ski set ups and have also added to my climbing rack. Their Customer Service is top notch, the gear selection inspires wet dreams, prices are competitive and their staff are users. I've shopped with Bentgate both online and in store. These guys have earned my business and I will continue to shop with them!

This place is the absolute best place to by your mountain gear! They have Extremely good customer service, a great selection on climbing, footwear and camping gear and go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with your experience.

A lot of great equipment from camping to hiking to climbing and snowboarding. Their prices were phenomenal and the person we spoke to about split boards was beyond helpful. I will definitely be back to pick some stuff up for backpacking.

I asked Bent Gate to send my 10yrs old Arcteryx jacket in for a small seam repair around the elbow. The warranty department went out of their way and reassessed the condition of my jacket before shipping it out. A few weeks later, I got a phone call from Bent Gate saying that Arcteryx was going to completely replace my jacket!!! I was not expecting that at all and couldn't believe it! The warranty department worked wonders for me! Thank you so much for going out of your way to show you really care for your customers!

I want to love this shop, but they carry very few items in very few sizes. Today I was looking for hiking boots. They only carried women's size 7-9 and men's size 9-11. I wear 9.5 in women's / 8 in men's. Not that uncommon of a foot size, but too uncommon for Bent Gate I guess.

I've always had great customer service with Bent Gate. Everything from selecting new gear to fixing up old gear. Even the multi phone call in an hour questions, they've been happy to help. Thanks for not kicking me out of your store.

I went into Bent Gate for a tele mount. They made a substantial mistake on the mount, but then redeemed themselves. Long story short, the management stepped in and rectified a not so great situation for both parties. I left as a happy customer, and will continue to give them my business. Good people, and good customer service.

I ve been in the store a few times before and the only thing that really bothered me was them not being open on a Saturday.

I went in this past Monday to buy splitboarding boots and a new pair of skins. Normally on stores like this, staff is decently attentive as the gear they carry is on the technical side. It seemed the staff could care less about answering questions and were too busy with other tasks not related to customer service.

Although I had to get the boots to try on myself, I did find my size and would have purchased the 600 dollar pair of boots and 180 dollar skins at their establishment but instead will purchase online.

Maybe if the store was open on Saturdays, the busiest shopping day of the week; they could afford to hire more/better staff and not lose out on sales due to poor customer service.

They did a good job fitting my wife for ski boots and also had a quick turnaround for binding mount and tune-up. Helpful generally without being pushy. If they don't have what you want in the store they won't necessarily work hard to get it in for you.

I had a great experience at the Bent Gate. My boys and I drove here from Kansas City to get one on one personal service. I'm new to the sport and needed someone's time to walk me through it all. Nick was excellent! He spent hours with me explaining every piece of gear, from where it was made, how it was made, why it worked a certain way, how it worked, and when I would use it. He could have sold me the moon and I wouldn't have known any better. Instead he only sold me exactly what I needed based upon what I told him I was going to do. I couldn't be happier with my experience and have purchased twice more from them online since my visit.

Nice mountaineering store with retail prices and nice staff

I had a small, obscure piece of a Dynafit binding that broke on me. Bent Gate had the piece in stock and fixed it in 15 min. Meanwhile, the sales staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing. They were just friendly. I was only in for a minor repair, but next time I need to make a major purchase they will be my first choice.

Because of <reasons> I had an urgent need for a new tent. I had been eyeing a Hilleberg Enan for a while and couldn't find it anywhere online that could get it to me on time. Bentgate had it in stock and did a fantastic job with customer support, answering my questions about the tent, getting it shipped out quickly, and rescuing my trip. I felt totally taken care of by the team there and very much appreciated the level of care and service they provided. Two days later I had the tent trip saved! Thank you so much, Bentgate!!

Awesome outdoor shop. The employees really know what they are talking about, so I highly recommend going here if you aren't as knowledgeable and need expert advice. Pretty good selection for the size of the store, too.

Employees seemed to really know their stuff and offered friendly service without the usual pretentious attitude you often find at similar places. While the prices are high, it is all quality gear.

I will agree with some of the other comments that overall the customer service here hasn't been great in my experience. The last time I wanted to buy a pair of climbing shoes I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged, then the guy who acknowledged that I was still waiting to be helped had to help someone else at the counter. 5 minutes later another salesman finally walked up. Well he completely ignored me, no hello are you being helped, and helped the people who had walked up after me. I completely understand that they were busy, but the initial hello, we'll be with you when we can is all it takes to let your potential customer know you are there to help them. Finally a third guy came out to help me, which was great since he, Nick, was the most helpful and patient of the 3. Honestly, he has been the only one I've encountered there who doesn't make me feel like I'm inconveniencing him because I'm asking for sales help. I want to like this place, because I love to support small business. I also want to be respected by your employees, especially when I'm supporting your business.

Bent Gate is the best! They have everything you'd expect for hiking, backpacking, camping, climbing, and snow sports, along with a healthy selection of outdoorsy clothes. Everyone working here is friendly and knowledgeable. As a climber myself, I love gabbing with the other climbers that work here for their 2 cents on gear. I also appreciate that the employees here let you know what they know most about, and have no problem directing you to someone more knowledgeable on your topic if need be. Comparatively to other outdoor shops both big and small, I've also noticed Bent Gate has the best selection of cams in different brands and sizes consistently in stock. BD, Metolius, DMM, totem, and Wild Country. Not a bad thing to say, if you're into anything outdoors, you'll find something to peruse here!

I have bought a fair bit of equipment from this store. I was always a bit irked by their equipment and slight lack of variety in their products and product types, however, what convinced me to never shop there again and to warn others away from this store is their salesmanship and their return policy.

I purchased a pair of shoes from Bent Gate a little while back. I stated what I needed from a shoe, and after a while, I was given a pair of shoes that I was told would stretch to fit right. I was concerned that they were expensive shoes and that I was uncertain about buying a product that didn't fit right out of the box, and was told that I could return the shoes within 60 days if they didn't fit.

Well, within sixty days, I came back with the shoes stating that they didn't fit and that I wanted an exchange. Not a refund, just an exchange. I want shoes that fit, like promised, and want the return, like promised. The young guy at the front counter said blithely that he couldn't take them, that they needed to be in new condition for resale for them to take the return.

How in the world was I expected to see if these shoes fit without wearing them? How can I know if they work without using them? Better yet, why didn't the sales representative tell me that they needed to be in new condition? If he had said that, I would have walked right out the door and gone to REI, where at least there is a real guarantee for my money. I was told that I could return these shoes, and they manipulated me, and now they are blowing me off like it is my fault that they gave me shoes that make my toenails turn black and my feet hurt for days on end after a half day of climbing. They took my money and screwed me, plainly put.

I climb a lot with the CMC, and not only will I tell people to not shop at Bent Gate, but I will make a point of telling them how awful of an experience I had, and how they will not care for your needs as a climber. If they like climbing, they should show it. All I saw was a love for money and a tendency towards manipulation of the customer.

Bent Gate has provided customer service on par with the best I have ever experienced.

Every time I walk in the shop the employees provide a warm welcome. I ve only been to Bent Gate for their ski shop, but I imagine the service spans across all of their equipment. Any time I have come in with ski problems, they explain anything that may have happened and how they can fix it. Their turn around time has always been amazing. Most importantly for some, their shop prices are always extremely reasonable. Though, most importantly for me is that those in their shop clearly have a passion for the sport and a high level of experience.

Bent Gate has earned themselves a lifetime customer.

You want to pick a ski shop who's owners ski 14ers, because they carry the best gear and hire experienced staff. Bentgates the best ski/mountaineering shop around.

Last night I stopped by Bent Gate to look for shoes. I arrived and they were getting ready to close for the night. I met Matt at the door and asked if if he had a certain shoe in my size and if he did, I would come back tomorrow and pick it up. Instead of telling me the store was closed, he invited me in and went to check.

Unfortunately he did not have the shoe in my size. He offered a different shoe and turned out it was a great fit. While I was there he was very informative as to what I would need to start climbing. Seeing that there were items on sale for really good prices, I asked if he could put things on hold and I would come the next day to pick them up (after all they were now closed and I was sure they wanted to go home after a long day at work).

He told me not to worry, that if I wanted to purchase the items now, I could. This is where I met Greg. Both Greg and Matt took the time to explain all the different types of gear I should look for and what made one better than the other. I ended up getting a plethora of equipment in order to start climbing.

I have to say that the service I received from these two fine gentleman was exemplary and I have no problems with sending anyone who wants outdoor gear to this store. Thank you for helping me get off to a great start in my climbing adventures! Cheers!

Great selection on gear and the friendliest staff around.

Have generally had really good experiences. The other day, an employee accidentally left a board on top of mine, which managed to leave a mark on it. The employee was quick to accept responsibility and was nice enough to offer a discount on some services. They even managed to basically get the mark completely off afterwards. Overall great customer service and as always, the selection is great.
