It is a nice airport, but it takes a long time to get from the main terminal to your gate. Allow the full 3 hours recommended as you may be surprised at the obstacles in your way.

For international flights returning home, do not forget your departure card! This is the paper you would have received when you arrived in China. Also before boarding your flight, I recommend buying a bunch of drinks at a machine at the gate as the price is low and can make for a more comfortable flight home.

this airport is pretty clean overall, except the squat toilets are very challenging to use, and customs are very hard to go through. security takes way too long, and there were a lot of random people outside the airport showing posters with a bunch of controversial political sayings on them. was not too happy.

It s a really convenient airport which has free power, drinkable water and many seats. But the price of goods from those stores in the airport are quite ridiculously expensive. If you want to use free WiFi, you have to ask the information desk with showing your passport. Moreover you should download app: vpn master, in case of using Instagram, Facebook or google services...

Useless tourist information counter. Instead of pointing helpful direction to tourists, dishonest staffs scam tourists into riding cahoots' much more expensive taxi and mobile services. And none of them speaks English, they will just ignore English-speaking tourists. What a "great" welcome at the doorstep of the capital city!

Beijing Airport is one of the largest in the world...

Beijing Airport is one of the largest in the world. It serves nearly 500,000 air operations and with one hundred million passengers a year.
Moving around the airport is kind of easy and yet, moving between zones is not convenient. Every now and then passengers are expected to use passport and face scanners to move on, and these devices often get stuck.
The main passenger hall is nicely decorated in the Chinese style although in none of the catering points you can pay with a different currency like yuan, which is quite bothersome, especially since the exchange rate is not very favorable for travelers.
A nice solution is to provide devices with hot water for hot cups and (standard) sockets for charging phones.
From the airport you can get to the center of Beijing, 20 km away, but you have to coordinate it well to make it to the airport and back by public transport.

Can t buy a toothbrush anywhere? If you land around 4am as I did nothing is open. Then when they do at 6am asked for the beef noodles was told they had sold out! How? when you have been open for 10 mins. The most boring and badly organised airport I have been in. Literally nothing to do.

A huge modern airport redesigned by British architects to host the Beijing Olympics.
It boasts the largest scale in Asia and one of the largest in the world, and has an enormous number of flights, which is comparable to Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle, and JFK.
It is also fully functioning as an Asian hub airport, and through this, you can directly access all parts of the world, including Africa and South America.
However, the transfer is unexpectedly difficult to understand and the capacity is not catching up with the increase in passengers. Therefore, it often gets extremely crowded, and I wonder if a time schedule with plenty of time is needed. One hour is just right, without delays and congestion.
Also, since the premises are vast, it is necessary to walk endlessly to move to distant gates, to have quite a good leg, and to be prepared.
On the other hand, if you even divide it up, it will be very comfortable with full facilities, clean toilets and drinking water, showers, shops, restaurants and lounges. I think that it is an airport that you can enjoy even if you stay for a long time without getting tired.
There are also many uses by Westerners.

We flew with a change, we needed to go to the registration area by metro, the result was 5 minutes late, we were not given registration because we were going back by the same metro again, we bought new tickets. On the whole, I didn t like it, as it s not comfortable, the Chinese who were burnt, the insane exchange rate in the exchanger, etc.

New, modern, but looked empty airport. Very easy to find a quiet empty row of seat without armrests for a quick nap. Washrooms look clean, have free shower cabinet, but many are urine smelly.
Meals options were bad. Tasteless noodles is a shame for Chinese kitchen. A small tip - instant noodles sold in the vending machines around the airport is cheap and much more tasty than the ones in the airport restaurant.

I had difficulty finding employees who could speak English. Most of the employees looked so unmotivated and acted kind of rude. The security lines are long and the security process was disorganized. I found the building well-build but it was extremely cold, and I live in Canada!! Take a sweater if you're spending long hours in the transit area.

For an international airport, very limited shops and restaurants that are open at evening hours, most closed by 7pm. Only Pizza Hut and KFC open with very limited 5 item menu. Very disappointed very long layover. Limited English speaking staff, poor security and immigration service, long lines and very confusing signs and no one stays in queue. Almost missed connection on short connection time. Update: March 2019 layover was much better than previous trip. Much more efficient with added electronic immigration check-ins. A few more restaurants and stores. Still most closed early.

Who wants to transfer in this airport, please follow the [int'l / hk, macao, taiwan transfer] sign! If you are transacting, follow the sign! At first, Hong Kong Macau was the only one that could not keep up.

passengers transferring by Airchina can use Lounge near e10. Air China If your transfer time is long, I will use the lounge near e10! Economy seats hourly lounge is right here, business first is extra!

Beijing s air quality is really worrying, but it can t conceal the fact that the capital airport s hardware continues to improve. In a society where digital payment is prevalent, connecting the development and services of many applications, the ecosystem of the airport s extension deserves long-term attention and participation. .

Probably one of the worst airports in Asia. Massive terminal, only 3 restaurants the size of an Applebee's bar (there is only one bar in this terminal), no convenience stores for anything (snacks, headache medicine, etc.). Only packed with high end stores that have no use for basically anyone, a pizza hut and a KFC. Very few flight information screens in the airport.

Very crowded airport is this. Huge number flights arrival and departing from this airport. Mind blowing is the architecture of this airport. This airport consist of four floors, the construction of this airport is also a engineering marvel. The upper floor has support of 600 thick rods and can resist all the levels of pressure. The overall structure is wonderful to watch, an amazing human creation. The flight landing and take off areas are just majestic. The more you visit this airport it fascination develops.

It is the airport where the most boring international terminal and where the food is the most enjoyable to which I set foot. Unfortunately an important hub for Asia we often have no choice but to set foot but every time it's depressing.

Was taking a flight from Hong Kong to London via Beijing. The transit process is horrible. I don't understand why people have to go through the security check again if they are just transferring flights and not exiting the airport. There are only 2 lines for the security check for transfer passengers but there are more than 300 passengers, there is a long queue and it takes a long time waiting, some people even missed their flight . Limited choice of restaurants in the check-in area. It is chaotic in unorganised

One large airport. Beautiful construction with wonderfully laid out structures. It's well labeled, which makes it so easy to find the next step. Checking in for me for the first time was so fast & easy. Trains take you to the baggage claim and airport exit.

I hated this airport. Even at 3am it took us forever to get through security. Personnel was completely rude and incompetent. They made me unpack my entire carry on (camera bag containing all of my equipment ) for a flashlight - A FLASHLIGHT. After this trip I will never choose to fly through this airport again.

In this airport, all passengers are able to lie in several chairs. If you arrive in midnight, don t worry, you can sleep in the airport. There are many gift stores in the area where have unique and origin design. You can do some activities during waiting the next flight, such as, shopping and hunting for a photograph. Although The airport operates 24 hours, several store is not open during the time. This building has glass wall, so we can see all of airplanes from indoor. You can find plenty of charging phone station in every waiting area. Fast food reastaurants are there in here.

Review is for terminal 2.

Easy to navigate. Transfer to domestic and international flight is a breeze. Lots of option for dining. McDonald, Starbucks, and KFC at the arrival hall. Then there are Yoshinoya and other asian cuisines at the third floor.
There are curency exchange companies on departure and arrival floor, but their rate is not that competitive. Best bet to use a card without foreign transaction/atm fees and get cash from atm on the departure floor/public service area (not the ticketing hall).

Worst airport I ve ever tried. Hygiene is absolutely disgusting!
Had a 13 hour layover and booked lounge which yelled at us taking food as that was only for special customers . Was told to drop my baby on the floor as I was searched just as every other foreigner was.

Also there are zero service desks for Airchina - if you lose something valuable - asking everywhere for help they said they won t help you retrieve anything you lost.
As a frequent traveller I would never return to this airport. Standards are third world.

Beijing Terminal 3 airport is generally okay. Shopping is nothing but free of cosmetics and food. It is good to have an artificial lake to make scenes like swordplay. Use wifi here Free offline. If there is no roaming phone to receive the login code, you can go to the automatic wifi registration machines by passing the passport to it.

Worst airport ever! My baggage was lost in this airport almost 1 week ago by air china. Not much help from anyone was left waiting for 5 hours until they told me that they cant find it.

So do not fly into this airport as they clearly dont take unattended luggage in an extremely busy airport as a security risk or even a problem!

Airport is nice. It has different stores, cafes, a lot of green trees and also free water machine inside.

Also I would like to say thanks to the officer who tried to help me with finding lost carry on a train between terminals on October 8 around 3PM.
Unfortunately, I don't know his name or number, just that he was at Terminal T3E in front of immigration check.
He really tried to help contacting train stewards and "lost and found" department.
I deeply appreciate that and very thankful to him.

When you are confused about how to go to your target place you can ask the guards or the guides in the airport.
The guards and the guides will help or bring you to the place you want to go if they are free to do that.
But there are no smoking area in terminal 3E so if you are not be able to find a place to smoke after you pass the security check in terminal 3E.

I transited here on Air China . The immigration was quick so was the security check . They offer a variety of food . Staff is friendly . The bathrooms are clean but have a funky smell . The airport it gigantic . I only went to terminal 3 and it was the modern terminal . It does gey cold sometimes. I also like the people mover between the sections of terminal 3

You can almost taste the pollution in the air even inside the airport. The line and wait is controlled extremely poorly. You would think one of the largest international airports in the world, in the capital city of China - they would have staffs speaking a little bit of English, but no. I really prefer not to layover in this airport.

Everything was good in the beijing PEK airport until a buggy service come to us during our transit time and offer to sent us to E51 on 22 Dec. And suddenly charge us 20 dollars for a 3 mins ride. Reason we board becoz got the airline logo on the veh. Not sure how many people got cheated coz he got a few dollars with him. Won't ever transit and come to this airport again! Security all very good but was cheated by the buggy service. Bad image! Beware!

Well the airport is well organized , the only problem was the taxi . I asked some informations to the taxi customer service and the only young girl English speaker she tried to SCAM me , I knew my fare would have been 60/70 rmb and she told me 230 and insisting about that was the official airport fare .... Be careful people !

Looks flash on the outside but still very inefficient and primitive on the inside. Incredibly slow processing through customs with just 2 custom officials processing passports and one near empty ink pad that had to be stamped a dozen times before enough ink was on the pad. I heard from other travellers where officials with runny noses and sweaty brows dripping over passports caused upturned stomachs and illness later on.
Avoid this airport at all costs. And you will be late catching your next flight because of ridiculous over the top custom officials.

My spouse and i where treated so poorly at this airport. Every store we went into We had people following behind us practically taking the things we were looking at out of our hands. We ate at O learys where we were made to get up and order our food at the bar and bring our drinks to the table. Starbucks refused to give us ice even though they keep their bottled water out of the fridge. Overall it was a terrible experience. I wish i could give no stars. Foreigners beware this is the most unfriendly, unhelpful place to layover.

Having to go through security again for a connecting flight, which I haven't needed to do before was a shock (should have probably checked in advance), but there wasn't really a clear rule on what external battery chargers were allowed through, some were confiscated even if they had the same capacity. Wasn't going to start a fight in China though so just accepted the loss at the time.

The airport itself was clean and modern.
