They did not explain my daughter health issues to us. Gave her drugs and kicked her out the door. We had to fly her home to montana and take her to another dr for treatment. I've been fighting them just to bill my insurance. They never have and turned my bill over to a collection agency. Rotten people.

Had to rush my dad to this hospital around 5 this morning after him collapsing. He caught a bad virus and was extremely dehydrated from being at the golf course. He fell straight on his face and messed his face up pretty severely. Walked into this hospital and he needed the nearest restroom. When we asked the nurse where to go she looked at us in disgusted and said I GUESS YOU CAN COME ON BACK . She had the worst attitude towards my dad and showed NO SYMPATHY. She seemed like she hated her job and me being a NA in Dallas and about to graduate with my BSN I know what good quality patient care is and she is FAR FROM HAVING THAT. I hope no one has to deal with her.

I had a dislocated right hip and was brought in to the BBRMC at about 9 pm on May 1, 2014. The nursing staff who received me were exceptionally kind, able, and helpful. They listened to me and gave me clear and gentle instructions on how to lessen the pain while they worked. After X-rays were taken, the anesthesiologist put me to sleep and worked closely with the ER doc while he was doing the reduction. Both were attentive and very effective. When I awoke shortly after the procedure was over, I had no pain, and full mobility. Amazing!
I stayed the night in a spotless, comfortable, well equipped single recovery room, my vitals were checked in the morning by a very competent and pleasant nurse, I received a check-over by a physical therapist who was well informed on my condition, and was released. During the whole procedure I was treated in a kindly and personal manner. I couldn't have had a better experience.

Great place, great staff! They took great care of my mother! We had to leave big Bend national park with my mom sick with flu, and pneumonia...! They were very thorough, and took great care of her. We had to leave here there as she was admitted... had no worries though they made us feel completely comfortable! Highly recomend!

Unbelievable experience once again. First and foremost the reason for returning for another dose of incompetence, is not having any other options. My wife was sent to BBRMC by the clinic for an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis. Long story short, Dr. Charles Owen authorized the incorrect procedure, and if that wasn't enough, he would not authorize the correct one despite her referring to the entire purpose of the referral, and released her with no answers. What responsible person, much less a physician does this? I pay taxes that fund this hospital. Serious inquiries need to be made into this place. The one and only thing that BBRMC has done impeccably is send billing 1-2 years after the fact, and send them to collections without us receiving the late billing in the first place. We need decent healthcare in the area desperately. As tax paying citizens we all should demand better than this for our families and ourselves.

Definitely shop around as Big Bend Regional Medical Center is a very expensive healthcare option if you are footing the bill or have a large deductible. I was able to find a comparable MRI service in Odessa for $1100 less than the price quoted by BBRMC which did not include the cost of reading the MRI by a radiologist. My experience has been the BBRMC is very high priced with regard to their competition.

TERRIBLE !!!! WORST HOSPITAL IN THE WORLD!! DON'T GO THERE!!!
I've been there 3 times for blood tests. The 3 times I payed in cash (I don't have insurance) and every time, after a month I would receive an invoice for extra money. I called every time to get an explanation and they always say they made a mistake and they'll fix it but they won't ! I finally gave up and payed whatever their mistake was, I was desperate enough to go through it but unfortunately that is the only option I have close to me. But even it is my only option, I will NEVER EVER go there again. I rather drive 3 hours (instead of 30 minutes) to go to a decent hospital.

I had my first baby at this hospital in February. I don t think I could have dreamed up a better, more caring, or competent team. From my pre-natal care in the clinic from Dr. McLaughlin to the labor and delivery team, and ultimately the excellent care my daughter now receives from Dr. Ekta Escovar - I ve been so impressed and am grateful that we have such quality providers in our rural area. Thank you BBRMC, hospital leadership, doctors, nurses, and staff. You re super stars and my family is grateful to you!

We went to Marfa and Cibolo creek when I suddenly felt very sick with headache and nausea. Big Bend Medical Center was the closest hospital (one hour drive from where we were) and we got the best treatment. Great nursues, dr. Luecke was amazing, I got antibiotics and pain killers straight away after a full body check. Next day I got a MRI scan and everything was thankfully fine. It went quickly through with treatment, care and insurance.
Very good doctor who took good care of me. Good recommendations from me.
I would definitely call it a small hospital rather than a center.

Entire experience positive. Out of Towner, and that can sometimes be difficult, but we were treated professionally, in a timely manner, and throughly satisfied.

96 year old aunt fell and the BBRMC missed that she broke her hip in three places and sent her home with dangerously high blood pressure within hours after she got there. She had a stroke on the way home. Now she can't even sit in a wheelchair. Gross incompetence. If I could leave no star I would. Absolutely unbelievable how they are open. It may be safer to take your loved ones to the vet to get healthcare if this is the only option.

Signed in to get registered for an MRI over an hour ago. They haven't looked at the sign in sheet once. Meanwhile people walk in and get registered without signing in. This is the second time this has happened to me in 2 weeks. I guess following the rules and being patient drops you to the bottom of their list of priorities. Fail

The billing process was horrible. I received a statement several years later saying I owed money but they could not provide detailed information on the charges, only vague information and the date of service. After several months of asking and them not providing the detailed bill, they sent it to collections. Very disappointing.

We had just arrived in the Terlingua Ranch area on October 11th (for our wedding on the 15th) when my fiance fell and ripped his knee open on a rock. The closest ER was in Alpine, so we hopped in the car and I got him there as quickly as possible (about an hour to an hour and a half). The ER staff were so kind and thorough and helpful. Dr. Owen took care of the cleaning, stitching, insertion of a drainage tube, etc. He was very competent, kind, and straightforward. We received clear instructions on how to care for the wound, and were given all the supplies we would need for the coming few days. We went back to the Ranch the next day, and my fiance spent the rest of the week resting his knee and taking care of himself.
We went back for a follow up on Friday the 14th, and the wound had no signs of infection and he was cleared to take off the brace and stop using crutches. I strongly believe that if he hadn't gotten such good care in Alpine, he wouldn't have been able to stand without crutches during our wedding on the 15th. We've been following their care instructions ever since, and his knee is healing. Thank you so much Alpine!

My husband and I were traveling through the Big Bend National Park last week, and he became very weak and short of breath. We were a long way from home, but thank God, we got to Alpine where I took him to the Big Bend Regional Medical Center. The Doctors (Dr. Shieff and Dr John Ray) were exceptional, along with nurses Trish in the ER and Patrick on the floor. In 77 years, he has never had a more thorough workup, as they checked him from head to toe, and kept him overnight for observation. Fortunately, all is well, but we were frightened of course.
In addition, the folks at the Best Western and Pizza Hut were extremely helpful, as we found ourselves in trouble so far from home. The good Lord was watching over us to direct us to Alpine and the wonderful folks there!! We are telling friends that if you're going to get sick in Texas, make it Alpine!! Thank you all so very much.

I had the flu really bad, got dehydrated to the point that I needed an IV in the middle of the night. The nurses not only brought me in in a wheelchair, one of them even offered me his jacket because I was cold in the waiting room! I got taken care of by two very attentive nurses who got me hydrated, gave me Tylenol, and covered me with lots of blankets while we waited for blood test results. They turned a terrible night into just a bad night. Thank you!!

Once again,,, a wasted trip to BBRMC. Paid $150 for a walk in with the intention of a CT scan for my wife, and the unit is broken. I should have, and could have been in El Paso,as I vowed I would after our last visit to BBRMC. Third time is the charm.

If you see Dr Koch, don't be surprised to be charged for a follow up, as I was, even though I was told that I wouldn't be charged for the follow up. Later received a bill for the so called no charge follow up. Fraud at it's finest.
