I have had some really good experiences there and some very bad experiences there. I will say the best ER Doctor they have on staff is Dr. Yu, not only is he the best ER Doc on staff, he is also a caring, very knowledgeable doctor who knows what he's doing with a outstanding bedside manner. There have been times I've gone to the ER and saw Dr. Yu wasn't on shift and have left. The only bad thing I will say is it takes the triage nurse 45 minutes to triage you and get you in the back to be treated and the waiting room could be empty. Also depending on how busy they are in the back/or how slow there moving it could take another 30 minutes to a hour before your nurse or Doctor to come in and evaluate your condition. Also l don't trust the radiologists who read and review your diagnostic images, perfect example I came in with a badly injured ankle they x-rayed it and said it was just a bad bruise and to ice and rest it, few day's later when I followed up with the orthopedist my ankle was broke the radiologist at Bayshore missed the fracture, nother example my mother took a tumble and landed on her chest they did X-rays and a CT-Scan and once again said she had bruised her ribs, and again following up with the orthopedist
a couple days later she ended up having four fractured ribs and fifth rib was snapped in half overlapping each other so just be on the lookout they're not 100% when it comes to reading diagnostic images. My last complaint would be about the ER Doctor on staff Dr. Shah, perfect example my sister had an allergic reaction to codeine that we were unaware about. Not knowing my sister was allergic to codeine Dr. Shah prescribed her a prescription to take home as needed for severe pain mind you my sister was only around 14 years of age and after she took it when we got home she started having convulsions flopping around on the bathroom floor Grey's a ghost and her lips started turning blue I worried she was having a seizure so we it's called the paramedics who rushed her back to Bayshore's ER where Dr. Shah was still on duty and his response was and I quote laughing with a mouthful of Doritos spitting pieces of the Doritos in my family's face saying "hahaha well I guess we won't be giving her codeine anymore hahah" end quote. Very unprofessional if you ask me. So my advice to you is if you have to go Bayshore Community Hospital as a walk in or even by ambulance/paramedics find out which doctor is on call and if it is Dr. Shah leave and go to another hospital unless it's a life-or-death situation. But if Dr. Yu in on shift believe me you're going to be in amazing hand.
