Great place for dinner. Recommend the parlor room, everything tastes great! Service was above & beyond!!

Upstairs is a charming throwback to the jazz age. Downstairs is a moody modern space. Atmosphere to spare. I recommend a classic steak to dry aged as the searing process tends to lend a leathery quality to the dry aged cuts. Knowledgeable and friendly staff is friendly without becoming too familiar.

Incredible. Great food good atmosphere. The Mac and cheese is great and you have to try the bacon and the elote. Do your self a favor and get the carrot cake for dessert. You will dream about this meal. I sure do.

A lovely lunch today at this restaurant! Ordered the crab cake sandwich and was pleased by the quality of the crab cake, as well as the nicely toasted roll, thick slices of ripe avocado, and crisp hot bacon, which accompanied it. The side of fresh fruit was also generous and perfectly ripe. A very good experience!

Gosh, I just love this place. Experienced it by way of a friend and have repeatedly came back. The food, the ambience, and the social aspect make this an amazing experience for groups and/or special dinners with your significant other.

Definitely one of the most difficult places to get reservations. We were a bit disappointed that we still needed to wait about 20 minutes after our reservation time. And because they were very busy, the drinks took a while too. But the food makes it all worth it. Highly recommend the dry aged steaks, which I assume is what most people came for. Seating situation is a bit tight - you are very close to other tables. They also gave a free mango sorbet for a birthday treat.

Wowwww!!!! Even with Covid going on, I had a wonderful dining experience. Our server/bartender was Shiz and she was AMAZING!!!! She was funny, answered all our questions, and was the absolute best multi-tasker ever! She was mixing multiple drinks, answering our questions and taking our order at the same time. She made great suggestions for us. On top of great service, the food was delicious! I had the fried chicken and mash...sooo delicious. My friend had the rib eye and said it was the best steak she ever had! I'll definitely come here any time I come to Chicago! Highly recommend this place.

This place is worth a visit. They serve big portions for reasonable prices. Constantly clean and with excellent ambience. Highly recommended.

You can bring your own bottle of wine and they don't charge a corking fee if you share a small glass with another table. I was happy to find out there is a vegetarian menu. My Greens/apple salad was great. We ordered the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes to share and they were good. My husband was not that impressed with his dry aged steak.

Had our anniversary celebration here, and starters to desserts everything was beyond our expectations. Wonderful.

A favorite destination for date night or dinner with friends. Definitely recommend getting a reservation as they get very busy especially during the weekend. Great atmosphere. The seafood tower is amazing. Everything we've tried from food to cocktails and wine have been excellent. Service is always impeccable and they do welcome kids. We had our daughter with us on our last visit and the server treated her just like a regular guest. She was even surprised with a sparkler on her dessert at the end of the meal.

My first experience at Bavettes and will definitely return! We were there over the weekend for a bachelorette party, and Erik really made us feel at home. Our food was delicious, and the service was remarkable from the moment we walked in the door!
The ambiance really set the mood for the entire evening. We weren t rushed but yet reminded to enjoy our evening. We will be back!

Amazing food and staff. Went as a celebration and I feel like our bartender, waitress, and manager pulled out the stops to make our experience 5+ stars. Atmosphere is awesome as well. Recommend trying to get a seat in the basement.

If I could I give it 6 stars. I am there every week. The folks who work there a stellar and I've never been disappointed with my food. When I say I go there weekly, I don't just meas once a week. Sometimes up to 3! and I've been a regular there for over 2 years and they have never let me down. Great people. Great food.

Where to start..

My fiance has amazing taste and knows what's up and what's good. She has impeccable flavor for the best places in town. I'm from a small town in northern Illinois and am not used to these places.

She surprised me by taking me here for my birthday.

At first I didn't know what to expect. It looked like the French Mafia was waiting for me inside because I missed my last payment. Well it was definitely a restaurant from some type of Oscar Worthy movie like that but without the imminent threat of the mafia taking me out back.

The hostess set us down after I had some time to take in the aesthetic, and classicly lighted atmosphere. We were treated very well by our waiter and I started with oysters which brought me back to my summer in cape cod. Incredibly succulent and delicious and fresh!

The lamb chops I had were perfectly seasoned and cooked to their medium perfection. The added fancy salt dish made it all the more better. The asparagus and broccolini were not overdone in the slightest and had by-the-book consistency. My fiance said her petite filet was one of the best she's ever had.

We finished with their famous chocolate pie. Best damn chocolate pie I probably will ever have in my entire life.

Hands down my favorite steak place in Chicago! Not only is the service impeccable, you also don't feel stuffy or too "white table cloth" in the restaurant.

We ordered the bone in filet, filet mignon, and the dry aged ribeye and everything had the perfect temperature (highly recommend medium rare). The crab salad was also a great compliment and dressed lightly the way I love it. Definitely don't miss the chocolate cream pie dessert either!

Babette's also has some of my favorite old fashioned in the city! In fact, they have about 5 different varieties, which your server can recommend depending on your taste preference.

Great food... meh service.
I believe our server's family was sitting a few tables from us so all he did was go to their table! So a glass of wine would take a long time to show up, if ever! Pretty expensive place for "meh" service.
Many Chicago steak houses have as good food and much better service.

Very cool, upscale spot in Downtown Chicago. If you're not visibly made of money, staff treats you like garbage.

The wait staff was attentive and respectful. Food was very good and we only had appetizer. Expect to eat a lot.

Ah, I still dream of the meal I had at Bavette's. The meat was good - which one should expect - but the sides were out of this world. Can't go wrong... if you can get in.

Everything we ate and drank was perfect. The attention to detail and quality could be tasted in the cut and cook of the steak, the flavor and tenderness of the asparagus, and in the thoughtfulness of the staff.

Had drinks and dinner at Bavette's with a friend celebrating my birthday. Drinks and food were outstanding as always! I've been there multiple times and always enjoyed it. Service was friendly and attentive. We were asked at least 5 times if we had dietary restrictions. I understand wanting to be careful, but a simple note on our check would have confirmed we had been checked. It doesn't bother me, but the restaurant is very dark (dimly lit) which some may find annoying when trying to read menus. The vibe is bustling and fun and the place was packed at 5pm. Seats at the bar are tough to get and the schools of hopeful bar flies seeking a spot can be a bit oppressive. "I think they are finishing...Did they ask for the check yet?...Is anyone sitting here?, etc." I'd still highly recommend Bavette's. Solid!

i have been coming here for about 4 years!! this place is always incredible and consistant-in service and food! dry aged rib eye and spinach is always my pick. the potatoes that used to be on the menu got changed to our server accommodated and had the chef re create the old ones for us!! thank you for proving top of the line service food and environment.

Food and Vibe is always great but the waitress last night at Bavette s was very disappointing. As we sat down in my wife s best steak house in Chicago we were given strict rules about mask wearing while anyone approaches the table. When the waitress came with wine she instructed us to put masks on and after few seconds remove to taste the wine, my wife commented that this process is very strange and the waitress said well, we don t want another shut down and my wife said that is the only reason we are wearing masks - because we want you to stay open but it is all strange because we do not have to where we live and that is when the brilliant waitress responded you always can leave . We have been going to Bavette s for years and always had an amazing dinner from start to end so this is definitely shocking to be told that we could always leave. We dine in restaurants all over the world and we always cherish hard work and attention to detail that places like this have and I have yet been told by anyone that I can leave. It would make sense if the waitress was an owner of the restaurant but I highly doubt it. It was my wife s birthday celebration so we have decided to make the best out of it because life is too short and celebration was the goal and not to let anyone instruct you to leave I have been pretty good about knowing when I can join and leave places so I will be the judge of that. Plus, who are we kidding her job consisted of taking the order, opening the wine and telling us we could always leave while the rest of the staff did the actual work. If you are reading this I am sure you are wondering if we left a tip of course we left a good tip for the rest of the staff they were excellent our glasses were always full, our table was always clean and dinner was presented with class. The good tip is for them and not for her if she is struggling for power she is in the wrong industry and hurting such a good establishment. We always write good reviews because we know how hard it is to have all aspects of business addressed but it is time for that bad one so she does not continue to tell people they can always leave after they just arrived. I have been to places where people instructed us about the strict rules and the way it was done was so professional and positive we all wanted to work together to get thru this pandemic but never to leave.

I enjoyed the bone-in filet mignon that was so tender, I probably could've used a spoon to cut through it. The Old-Fashioneds were excellent! Great ambience.

First time here. We ordered steak tartare, burger and steak fries, Elotes, fries and steak. I found the steak tartare to be a bit salty, but was decent. The burger was great, along with the amazing steak fries. The fries for also very yummy. They had the perfect crisp to them. The steak was nicely seasoned and prepared medium. The Elotes was on fire. It was damn good! We sat outdoors but the indoor restaurant was so romantic and beautiful with candles everywhere.

- crab cake appetizer
- the pork chop and the filet minon entrees
- mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts for sides

Yes, even the sprouts were delicious.

We told them it was our anniversary and the gave us complimentary Prosecco glasses for a toast, which was a nice touch.

Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and made great recommendations.

Will definitely want to go back but because of the prices will mostly be special occasions.

Cozy place for sure. The meal was special. Not inexpensive, but very good. My disappointment was how outrageous they make up the wine. SO expect that if you go here. The kerala wine list was on the expensive site, and these places don't have to stick it to you on wine. Overall, good meal.

Bavette's was amazing. My fiancee got the Dry Aged Bone in New York Strip Steak and loved it. I recommend the Mixed Green and Apple Salad, the Pommes Frites, and the Candied Sweet Potatoes in Bourbon sauce. They also offer a Vegetarian menu upon request. Service was excellent. We can't wait to come back!

One of my favorite steakhouses in the city at the moment. It's very dark, but I like the ambience. Drinks here are wonderful, especially if you are a whiskey drinker. I love their fried chicken. Lots of great dishes!

Steaks prepared in a way that I love. Go to here almost once a two weeks. It is hard to make a reservation even during weekdays. Plan ahead if you plan to go here. Dry aged steaks are what you are looking for at this place. Also, their mac and cheese side dish is amazing. I ve never ordered m&c at any other places but Bavette s, I have to.

While it may be pricey, it is no doubt a wonderful steakhouse. If you re looking to impress your future wife s parents, this is the place to go! Crab was delicious and the steak was top notch, the drinks are fantastic too, delicious old fashions that come with 3 different unique liquor choices!

What a great bar we had a wonderful time. The bartenders are awesome the drinks are even better. Definitely a destination if you're visiting Chicago.

This place. Wow. I came here for my anniversary dinner and it was a special treat indeed. What you see here is a 22oz 42 day dry aged bone-in ribeye steak with honey glazed salmon and truffle Mac and elotes. We also had West coast oysters and the garlic shrimp. Bavettes has to be the best hogsalt restaurant and I've been to them all. Go, now.

First time coming here and it was a great experience.
I got the burger since I'm a college student and can't afford most of the things on the menu.
It was a very good burger with a ton of flavor.
They have just the right amounts of toppings on it and you don't need to add any mustard or ketchup to it (in fact you probably shouldn't since it would just mask the taste of the delicious beef).
Their burger really helps make the restaurant available to anyone since a $10 burger isn't crazy pricey.

First time here, and I loved it.
The place at first I thought had a too dark of an atmosphere, but after a few minutes it didn't seem that bad.
The mixed cocktails were amazing.
And now the food, I had the classic ribeye which was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned.
I also had the truffle mac and cheese topped with bacon, which I feel like I kinda need to buy it breakfast, because it was so absolutely amazing.
We will be back!!

We ordered the baked goat cheese with marinara, which came with buttered toast that was delicious. The roast chicken was moist and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, almost as crispy as the skin on a Peking duck on, which requires real skill! I had the short rib stroganoff, which had an amazing cream sauce. Some pieces of the short rib were so tender, they just about melted in my mouth, and the others were a bit more non-phenomenal but still overall very good. I ordered a side of the Elote corn, of which I wasn't expecting the sour taste. It was a good combo of lime and chili.

Our waitress was attentive and sweet, helping us with the wine list.

I would definitely come back to try other items. I would definitely make a reservation. I got here once at 6 PM on a Tuesday night, and all the tables were booked and all the tables they save for walk-ins, plus the bar and lounge area were full. I made this reservation a month out to be seated at 5 on a Sunday.

I really want to give this 5 stars. The Wagyu special, and the Spottswoode Cab were amazing, but this is the 4th time my foot has fallen asleep due to the horrendous barstools they have. There is zero cushion on them. When I m dropping $250 after tip for dinner by myself at the bar, please don t make me want to leave 15 minutes into my visit.

Absolutely incredible. Most attentive service I've ever received. House sourdough and salted butter: better than the average complimentary bread. Baked crab cake: delicious sauce, fresh and lemony. I had the lamb chops, no words. My husband had the Chicago cut ribeye, massive steak cooked perfectly. Our server, Siaire was just amazing, so welcoming and helpful to our decision making. We ended up with the chocolate cream pie, a must!! So rich, but it's their signature dessert for a reason.

The parlor is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. Meredith is an amazing server. She helped us make excellent selections and provided outstanding service.

This was incredible from beginning to end. The service, atmosphere and food were all top notch. We went for our anniversary and were not dissapointed at all. My steak was melt in your mouth and full of flavor. My wife had the short rib stroganoff and it too was incredible. I had a Basil Hayden old fashion and it was spot on as well. We are still talking about it days later. The best meal experience on our trip hands down.

This place was amazing! Both my husband and I had this place recommended to us and so happy we went. It was very romantic feeling with dim lights and leather accents. The music was a great touch as well.

We made reservations for 945 PM but arrived at 930 and were seated almost right away. We had a specialty rum cocktail that was served with crush ice (my fave) and presented nicely.

We ordered the shrimp cocktail that was served in a great tower presentation. If we had a larger group, we would have definitely done for one of the other seafood towers. The table by us had one and it looked beautiful. Our filets were cooked perfectly and the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese were great sides to share.

Our server was attention and as well as the rest of the staff, refilling our water and checking in on us. We would 1000% recommend this place to anyone coming into town. Hope to be back eventually!

Wow- love this place! It is quite diva though. Must make a reservation well in advance but is worth it. Obsessed with the seafood tower and duck confit. The cocktails are great and the atmosphere is perfect. Looking forward to returning!

Went in May of this year with my boyfriend and loved it. I think our waiter's name was Johnny and he was awesome. Can not get over how great the food and service was. Seriously stupid how good this restaurant is. I'm dragging my family to Chicago just to take them here and gain bragging rights.

We came to this place for dinner. we heard about this spot from quite a few people. Well, it was a winning. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we felt excellent. The meal was delicious. We loved this restaurant a lot and we shall definitely come back again. we highly recommend this place.
