You can bring your own bottle of wine and they don't charge a corking fee if you share a small glass with another table. I was happy to find out there is a vegetarian menu. My Greens/apple salad was great. We ordered the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes to share and they were good. My husband was not that impressed with his dry aged steak.

One of my favorite steakhouses in the city at the moment. It's very dark, but I like the ambience. Drinks here are wonderful, especially if you are a whiskey drinker. I love their fried chicken. Lots of great dishes!

Litteraly the best meal of my life from the steak to the fabulous sides everything was perfect. They even gifted us a free ice cream which was also the most delicious one I have ever tasted! The atmosphere is spot on (maybe a tad bit too dim) but I loved the feel of the place and I'm writing this a year after eating there it was so good I can remember perfectly

I consider myself a foodie, and I would say that this is the best meal I ve ever had. Everything was perfect. The vibe is great: speakeasy feel with dim lighting and jazz. Great old fashioned. Got a goat cheese duck appetizer that was amazing. And the steaks: cooked to perfect. My group got filet minion and the dry aged ribeye. We were all blown away. The butter topping for the steaks was incredible and caused them to melt in your mouth. The truffle Mac and cheese was a phenomenal side, highly recommend. Then for dessert we got the chocolate cream pie. Delicious. The service was amazing too. We are all dreaming about the next time we can come back here.

I'm born in Chicago and have been eating at Chicago steak joints for decades. This is hands down one of the best meals I've had in the city. Great environment and atmosphere, incredible food, and a wine list that will knock your socks off. Not Cheap but worth it! We went during CoVID times, and the staff and patrons were very professional about keeping everyone safe and distanced. We can't wait to go back.

Typically a late night place to go with a group of single girls looking for some great champagne and appetizers, we've also had quite a few dinner here too. First, the staff. I've been here dozens of times, different days of the week, and no matter how busy it gets, the staff are very attentive. Next up, food and drink. All the specialty cocktails are amazing and if not taken in moderation someone will be pouring you into your uber or taxi. The mixologists know how to serve it up here. I usually go for the champagne to pace myself, but their wine selection is great too. The food is as much of a showcase as the drink menu, we usually go in groups of 10, so I think I've tried almost everything. Everything is ala carte (side items) but large enough to share. This is obviously a carnivore's paradise with the cuts of steak, but their salmon and chicken are good too, the salads here are pretty good, but I'd take a steak over salad any day. We've done oysters and champs late night and they are extremely fresh, never a regret in eating their seafood the next day (all very fresh!). For the desserts, I wish they had more options, but if you go and have a sweet tooth you won't regret ordering the chocolate cream pie (a slice of heaven). I have also had the carrot cake, the frosting is AMAZING. The ice cream is great too, very fresh. I tried other desserts here but nothing compared to the chocolate cream pie!. All in all the staff is friendly, the food amazing and the atmosphere is really fun. Everyone from staff to patrons are super friendly, I really enjoyed Bavette's!

With all the steakhouse in this city, Bavette's remains on our top five steakhouses we frequent. A well rounded experience, food, ambiance, service and drinks are all top notch.
My go to, the dry aged ribeye, is done to perfection with a side of bone marrow. The Elote Corn is both sweet and spicy. See you next time

We've been everywhere in Chicago for steak! This is the BEST! You MUST get the garlic mashed potatoes to accompany your steak! Also request Siaire as your server! The only other experience in a restaurant that even comes close for us is Duke's in Honolulu, HI. You won't find better without a 9 hour flight!

First time visiting Bavette s the other night for our anniversary. Our server was energetic but the food kind of let us down. I got the bone in filet and my boyfriend got the bone in aged ribeye. We frequent steakhouses and know that aggressively seasoning the meat is commonplace but our steaks were downright salty. We ordered button mushrooms and Mac and cheese as our side. The Mac and cheese was good but the mushrooms were over salted too. I really wanted to love this meal but must admit I left somewhat disappointed.

Love this place. The atmosphere reminds me of the movie Midnight in Paris. They have a great vegetarian menu too, but honestly the sides are so good we never order off of it. One thing a lot of people don't know, you can bring a bottle of wine with you for every two people in your party. Instead of charging a corking fee they make you send a glass of your wine to another table. Deciding who to send it to is always an interesting conversation with friends.

It was hard to find a reservation time for a regular dinner but my husband and I really wanted to check it out so we decided to reserve for later, around 11. We were in the dining room and had a small booth to ourselves which was great. Felt a little more private. The atmosphere was really cool. Definitely a vibe you don't get very often! It was really dark, so kinda hard to read the menu, but I actually like dim lit places. Might be annoying for some though. It was kind of packed for 11pm.

Food was awesome. The cheeseburger with bacon was sooo good. Husband had steak frites and that was good too. Their bread & butter is probably the best I've had at an establishment. It was getting late and we were stuffed, so we got a carrot cake to go and that was delicious too.

My only downside was that we were seated next to the bar and these patrons by us were kind of annoying. They had snobby attitudes but some interesting conversations lol. Our server was good and attentive. Towards the end she seemed to want us out as she came by our table like 3x in the last 10 mins to 'check on us.' Their latest reservation time is midnight but they close at 12 which was weird to me. We left a little after midnight.

Great place overall. I am definitely coming back whenever we're back in town.

To get it out of the way, possibly my favorite filet in Chicago! And that is simply complemented by the fact that Bavette's makes one of the best old fashioned's in the city as well! I have never walked into this place without it being completely packed (upstairs and downstairs) as this restaurant executes an amazing balance of low-key yet lively. It's a great location whether it be a happy hour drink at the bar, a night out with the guys, or a special occasion with the wife!

Food is amazing. That being said, way too much salt and tons of butter + mayo. For such a high end resturant I have expected to rely more on chef and cooks' expertise and less on butter and salt. The amount I would expect in bar food. YES, it is tasty, cooked and served well, but I would encourage them to overcome the need to use salt and butter to make tasty food and use / rely more on spices.

No joke, I fasted until now(the evening after) to let my stomach settle down.

If it was in a $ or $$ / bar, I would have given them 5 stars (lower expectations). The food is great but not as expected from a chef/high end restaurant.

We go out to dinner frequently in fine dining and tend to show up in the resturant we love on a bi-weekly basis. Was worth the try.

This place was amazing! Both my husband and I had this place recommended to us and so happy we went. It was very romantic feeling with dim lights and leather accents. The music was a great touch as well.

We made reservations for 945 PM but arrived at 930 and were seated almost right away. We had a specialty rum cocktail that was served with crush ice (my fave) and presented nicely.

We ordered the shrimp cocktail that was served in a great tower presentation. If we had a larger group, we would have definitely done for one of the other seafood towers. The table by us had one and it looked beautiful. Our filets were cooked perfectly and the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese were great sides to share.

Our server was attention and as well as the rest of the staff, refilling our water and checking in on us. We would 1000% recommend this place to anyone coming into town. Hope to be back eventually!

The best steakhouse in Chicago. Old Hollywood vibe on the main level and quite dark and sexy vibe on the basement level. Perfect music for each section. Wonderful cocktails- try the Lion s Tail. We brought a bottle of wine and was told the corking fee was $50 OR we can offer a glass from the bottle to another patron. Great idea for folks who like to bring their fav wine to restaurants.

The service is really what sets this restaurant above the rest. The food was really good, but probably similar to that of other great steakhouses in Chicago. Our waiter, however, was probably in the top 5 my family and I have ever had. He had personality, made a connection with us, but was not overbearing or overly opinionated or pushy. He gave great recommendations when asked.
The food: appetizers we ordered included the the crab cake (phenomenal) and the goat cheese (average). The 6 oz filet I ordered was cooked just as I asked and the sides were also delicious. I recommend the Brussels sprouts and the mashed potatoes.

I m a big foodie and am incredibly honest in my reviews. Trust me when I say, you need to go here. First of all, I went alone. Usually when I go to a nice restaurant alone people look at me odd , but everyone from the hostess to the busses to the waitress respected me and treated me well. I felt so taken care of. Immediately, they give you the expectations with masks and such (they do very much enforce having your mask on when your server is around so be prepared for this. My server was great and explained his etiquette right off the bat which was extremely helpful. He stood at a distance until I had my mask on but stood at a distance when checking in). The food was PHENOMENAL!!! The old fashion was a great start. Sourdough was delicious and warm. Oysters paired with theirs given sauces were perfect. The wedged salad is to die for. I promise you want to get something with bacon on it!!! Or just a side of bacon . It had a sweet sauce almost like honey over it. My ribeye was perfectly cooked and delicious. Juicy , well seasoned and the sauce paired well. The entire time, the bussing team and my waiter made sure I had all I needed. My server paired a wine with my steak and I did not regret it. Brought home a peace of chocolate cream pie by the suggestion of my waiter and oh my goodness. Light and easy to eat. Not too overly sweet. The chocolate paired with the cream and Oreo bottom was delightful.
Overall, my experience was top notch. Except to spend to get the best experience: I felt my meal was well rounded and satisfying and did not mind paying what I did. Even the service fee felt fair, COVID hasn t been easy on anyone and if you re dining here you have more than enough money to pay the service fee
Recommend BIG TIME. You want to eat here. Oh yeah!!! The ambiance!!! SO good. Chill, jazzy vibes. Dark and candlelit. Immediately upon entering, I knew I d feel comfortable. But do expect it to be dimly lit.

We went here for our Valentine's day celebration, but we went on the 13 th too avoid the crowds. Originally, we were given the worst seat in the house. We were really disappointed. When our server first came to take our drink order, we expressed our displeasure with our table. It was right by the waiting area and it was hard to hear each other over others waiting for tables, not very romantic. Our server was very understanding and said she would fine us something else, but would also work on our drinks. A minute later, a host showed up at our table and said they found another table for us and that our drinks would be brought there. Our new table was downstairs and MUCH more romantic. Our drinks joined us shortly after arriving at our new table. Our new server asked what the occasion was that we were celebrating. We told him it was for our Valentine's day a day early. He was really great and helped do everything he could to make our night special. We got the Steak Tartar and Peppered Duck and Goat Cheese Terrine. Both were amazing and flavorful, we recommend then. For dinner we both had their amazing steaks. We passed on dessert, but our server sent us an ice cream dessert with a sparkler for free. We can't recommend this place enough!

I love Bavette's! It is my absolute favorite restaurant in this city! I have had their dry aged ribeye and seriously don't think I will even have a better steak in my life. The atmosphere is vibrant, undeniably cool, dimly lit and makes you feel you've done something right to simply be there! I prefer a table downstairs. It's a little quieter and feels a little more exclusive than the bustling atmosphere upstairs. That being said, take what you can get! It's a very popular spot.

I am extremely disappointed in Bavette's.

I am extremely disappointed in Bavette's.

I made a reservation six weeks ago to celebrate a late Valentine's day with my boyfriend. I was so excited to finally have a chance to go to Bavette's, a place that my coworkers had been raving about for years. To my disappointment, when I called today to confirm my reservation for this Sunday, they notified me that they could not find my reservation. They mentioned that as they changed from OpenTable to Reserve, they lost a few reservations.

I'm not mad that they lost my reservation. It happens. It's not their fault. What I am extremely frustrated about was the attitude of the hostess that answered the phone. They were completely nonchalant and unhelpful. Not once did they apologize for the loss of the reservation. Not once did they work to provide a viable alternative. They very much answered the phone with the attitude of "we already have a lot of people who are dying to come so it's no big deal if we lose you."

Given my interaction with Bavette's today, I have no desire to ever dine with them. I am surprised that a restaurant of Bavette's alleged caliber has such dismal service. I only hope that I can help other diners avoid a bad experience, especially as they plan for a special occasion.

My brother and I went for a Christmas Dinner which is our annual tradition , to pick a restaurant to try from my friend s suggestions. The experience was different from the reviews we ve read . It took so long for us to be greeted and have our water glasses get filled . The salad arrived fast but the entree s took so long and no one came to explain why it s taking so long . We waited so long for people to pass by in our table when we were done already and for us to get a dessert menu but we decided for our food just to be boxed instead because we tried our best to get the attention of the employees but no one was around to check how we re doing even though we were done with our plates like for 15 minutes... after paying, we had to wait again for couple minutes for the check... food is good, but service is just okay as someone who works in the industry and a foodie.

Hands down my favorite steak place in Chicago! Not only is the service impeccable, you also don't feel stuffy or too "white table cloth" in the restaurant.

We ordered the bone in filet, filet mignon, and the dry aged ribeye and everything had the perfect temperature (highly recommend medium rare). The crab salad was also a great compliment and dressed lightly the way I love it. Definitely don't miss the chocolate cream pie dessert either!

Babette's also has some of my favorite old fashioned in the city! In fact, they have about 5 different varieties, which your server can recommend depending on your taste preference.
