We celebrated our 42nd anniversary last week and ordered in from Bauer Kitchen. We couldn t have been more pleased. The appetizers, salad, main and dessert were excellent and prepared at the agreed time so everything was hot and tasty. I like the variety of the BK menu. Also I was very impressed on how the BK is managing through the COVID19 situation. Their protocol is top notch. All staff wear masks and the in the open kitchen I could see the cooks wearing both masks and face shields. That gave me a lot of comfort. Congratulations to the management and staff for doing such a great job in a difficult time! We will be ordering in again very soon. Best. Kerry Long

The duck wings are amazing as well as their fries. The burger was mediocre and the chicken pizza was neither great nor bad. The service left something to be desired especially as the place was empty. Would return purely on the duck wings and fries.
This was my first time Bauer Kitchen. Over all it was a good experience, my family and i was there for a special occasion, my daughter bday..i ordered smoke solmon..it was just perfect for me ...only disappointed was one of the hostess came and we told her about my daughter bday , even though she said she will bring her cake and celebrate, she did not ... ...
I'm probably one of 100s of people that are praising this place, but that's just because it's true. If you want your day to get better, come here and treat yourself to some awesome food and atmosphere, music and people watching if that's your cup of tea.
This place feels like it's on Long Island or Santa Monica, it just has that cool vibe that's contagious and, honestly, it puts me in such a happy mood that I can't describe.
We usually get a reservation for a brunch, and if that's happening on a sunny day, that's just a perfect combination. The staff is very attentive and genuine, the food fresh and made using the best ingredients, so that something as simple as scrambled eggs tastes amazing, let alone something like tuna poke or tiger shrimps.
They have a patio they open in summer, but if you don't get a spot there, you can always grab a small table at the adjacent cafe you access through the back.
Thought we should share our recent experience at The Bauer Kitchen, disappointing at best. The service was slow and non-attentive, but it was the food that was most dissatisfying. The burger was neither good nor bad but the promised fresh-cut Yukon frites were over cooked probably twice fried maybe three times. We tapped them on the plate for our waitress when we finally got her attention. What is the point of ordering the Bauer Burger served with frites but eating it without??? We will not return.
Delicious food, amazing service (Katherine was our waitress and she was insanely lovely) and the whole vibe was just awesome there. Also, the bathroom lighting made me look really pretty and I thought that was super groovy.
The lamb sirloin was amazing! The menu here is variable and usually pretty good but at our last visit it was great. My wife and daughter both had short rib gnocchi and they felt that the short rib was great but not enough gnocchi. We'll be back!
Everything I've has has been very good. Especially brunch (also open on Sundays!). I wouldn't recommended very often though, as you get small portions, and it is very expensive.
Food is very good. Flavour combinations are inventive. Portions are just right. Salads are fresh and tasty. Burgers are house made. Cocktails are inventive and very good. Daily specials are found on the menu. Service is very good. The ambience is very pleasant, showing the old factory with new decore. Desserts at so good looking and decadent. They are available in their bakery for take home along with most menu items. Great place for a fun lunch, meeting friends or a business lunch. Nice for a special family dinner or a dinner date. A place that impresses with both food and atmosphere.
The specials were "special" Mushroom soup excellent and prime rib pizza awesome Very friendly chatty staff. Bartenders were very helpful picking a wine
We went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and will say the food was amazing. I ordered the Bauer Burger with sweet potato fries and boy, BEST sweet potato fries I've ever had!!! My boyfriend ordered Mushroom Tagliatelli pasta and it too was so filling and satisfying. Not to mention the portion size of these two entrees were massive. We could barely finish them! You will not leave hungry!!
The server was also very polite and accommodated my requests (burger substitutions) without hesitation.
Only cons was place was a bit difficult to find as its tucked away in the back of some buildings and has two entrances (one to their coffee shop and one to the restuarant in which you have to enter another building first. Other than that, no complaints about the service, atmosphere or the food! We would go back for sure!!!!
I have mixed feelings about this place. The service was quite slow, and it took forever to get coffee refills but the staff were all very kind, and apologetic for the wait (we were a pretty big table and it was busy in the restaurant). For the food, I found it just okay. Everything came out hot and fresh but I found taste wise, just okay. For the price, I expected more. That being said, it was definitely competent and more than passable, it just didn t blow me away. Most people at my table seemed to feel the same. One person at the table got chicken and waffles said it was delicious, so maybe that s the item to try!
We went for lunch on a Friday and had the best meal. We split the fish and chips which was the special and the short rib gnocchi. Unfortunately, the gnocchi was far too salty but our server (Vanessa) went above and beyond to make us happy and had the dish remade without hesitation.
We've eaten here dozens of times since it opened, both lunch and dinners, mainly because food & service was consistently great for the price niche of this restaurant. It's reassuring to be able to invite a guest and know they will be pleased or wowed with the dining experience. Sometime this year there must have been a change in the kitchen because quality became uneven. The veg is boring, duck confit--which used to be excellent, was a disappointment, the prime rib was ... meh. The service has always been, and continues to be, very good. I'd give them five stars if more attention was paid in the kitchen.
Our orders came very late. The manager came out and apologized profusely and offered a discount to our bill. The ability to make restitution when your services are poor is why I am giving them a 5. Food was great the chicken and waffles
Went for dinner last night. The food was really good and the atmosphere was great. Our server, Melissa, was wonderful. She was attentive and helpful with picking out a wine to go with my dinner. Everything came quickly. The cheese dip was sooooo good. It is on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. Dinner for two including an appetizer, wine, and 2 pints was just over $100.
Pricey. Not enough parking. My lunch was ok but other choice on menu that friends had was not very good. Barely and chicken and it was dry. 1 person had no mushrooms what so ever in their's.
Came in today (Sunday) at around 1:45 and ordered my drink and the steak frites but was told they were still only serving their brunch menu. I said that was okay and I would just get the drink but the bartender insisted on asking the chef if he would still make the dish for me, which he did. It was so delicious and the service from both of the bartenders was amazing. I ll be back for sure!
Went to this place last night on date night with my wife. I picked this restaurant based on the Google reviews of this place (of which it has many 5 star reviews). The ambience of this place is spot on. It has a really comfortable feel and it was nice to be in the restaurant.
The food on the other hand...just terrible. For starters we ordered the "Fior di Latte Fritters", which is basically just fried mozzarella with some pesto sauce and bruschetta. My wife and I both love cheese, but these were mediocre at best. They were fried, but for some reason when they came to our table they were not even warm. Makes me wonder if they were sitting in the kitchen window for a while before being served.
For our main course, my wife ordered the "Smoked Chicken & Mushroom Tagliatelle" (pasta dish). The chicken in the dish was unbelievably dry and the entire dish tasted like it was drenched in pesto sauce. There were no layers of complex flavours or anything that you would expect from a place like this. Just pesto overload. Boston Pizza makes better pasta than this.
I ordered the "Short Rib & Sweet Pea Gnocchi". Garbage, pure garbage. The short ribs, along with the rest of this dish, was not properly seasoned AT ALL. It's like they don't have any salt or pepper in that kitchen whatsoever. The gnocchi was sub-par (I've had better gnocchi from chain restaurants) and had no flavour whatsoever. The sweet peas in the dish was a mushy non-sense that tasted bad. Also, the horseradish in the dish was EXTREMELY overpowering and drowned out any other flavour (don't even know if there were any flavours).
We skipped dessert because we were so disappointed with the food that we didn't think dessert would be any good either.
If this is what passes for high quality food in Kitchener-Waterloo, then the residents of this region need to rethink their entire outlook on what qualifies as high quality food.
Service was okay.
Overall, This place is EXTREMELY OVERPRICED and my wife and I won't be going back to this place and we won't be recommending this place to anybody we know.
Went here with my family for the first time, we just picked it from google as we re not from the area. The hostess service was a bit of struggle but once we sat and the waitress came, all went smooth.
The food was great, they give great portion sizes, and coming from my mom it was the best burger she s ever had .. and I don t think I ve ever heard her pay a compliment like that to any restaurant.
We will be back next time we are in the area! Thank you !
One of my favourite restaurants in the area. They offer a wonderful menu with interesting and delicious options in each section, and for every different meal. Great service as well, and stylish, chic design and ambiance.
I brought my three year old daughter here for a "date". They were incredible. The kids menu had many options for a reasonable price. My daughter LOVED both her fruit bowl and her pasta. I got the gnocchi and it was some of the best I have ever had. The polenta app was to die for. We had to wait a while for our main meal. A table beside us of 6 ppl who arrived at least 10 mins after us got their food before us which was a little annoying. But this was only minor and overall this restaurant for sure deserves 4 stars.
I went for Brunch on Sunday and was fantastic. I am celiac, and need to eat gluten free. I got eggs, bacon, gluten free toast and potatoes. Although the regular potatoes they offer have gluten, they made in a pan just some for me. That was really nice. Most of the restaurants don't do that. The server was Barbara, and she did a great job keeping our coffee mugs full all the time. Great experience. Five stars.
Came here on Valentine's Day with a 8:30pm reservation and had excellent and kind service throughout the night. I ordered a winter mojito which was on the sweeter side and barely tasted alcoholic! We shared a chacuterie board which was delicious although lacking in the number of crackers.
In terms of mains we ordered from the Valentine's fixed menu and the Seafood linguini was exquisite! Made in a lobster bisque, it was so creamy and full of seafood goodness I wish it was a mainstay on the menu.
Stopped by for brunch and Saturday and was blown away with the food! Had the French toast with a side of home fries, which comes with house made ketchup. It was so delicious! Definitely a must try if you are in the Kitchener area, you will not be disappointed.
Every time we come to Kitchener we always come to this restaurant as they are the most consistent for service, presentation, quality and reasonable prices!!! Today we had breakfast /brunch and it was all GREAT. Best of all they have great coffee. A MUST IF U R IN THE AREA!!
The wait can be a little long, but everything on the menu is delicious. You will never be disappointed with your meal. They pay attention to quality. I've had the Cali burger, always a safe bet, but the confit duck wings (pictured) were a great appetizer and filling! The staff is attentive and even celebrates birthdays with a little treat.
Great spot for a dinner with friends or a date. The waiters are very knowledgeable and helpful and the ambiance is not too formal. The food tastes great however I think that it is on the pricey side for the quality of the dishes.
Ordered a quinoa and edamame salad for lunch ($15). It tasted fine but the serving size was very small and way overpriced. I should also mention I was with a group and it took over an hour for us to receive our food. Would probably only go there again for drinks.
Fantastic spot! Great food and service. Love the patio. Everyone is super friendly, specifically the manager, Cindy! She always greets us with a smile and conversation!
Although we were here for a celebration of life; the food, atmosphere and staff were amazing. They handled 30 of us with ease. The facility is magnificent. I would give this establishment 10 thumbs up.
Waited 1 hour for my main course. Service was OK (not great), didn't get refills, she had 7 tables (maybe more than she can handle). Food and wine was EXCELLENT. Have been before and will return.
Servers were exceptionally nice, they re-lit my friend's birthday candle so that she could blow it out a second time. Food is great, if you're looking for a nice, but exquisite place to eat, this is a great location.
We were a group of seven in Waterloo for work. This came recommended by a local co-worker and was it good! Great ambience, wonderful service and the food is well priced for the taste and ambience. The entire table enjoyed what we ordered - the short rib burger and sweet potato fries, gnocchi, cauliflower and lamb, Salmon and steak. Must visit if you are in the area!
The interior of the restaurant is super cute, with nice big windows and unique decor. The meal itself was... fine. I left a little disappointed, but my boyfriend loved his food.
The cheese curds we ordered? Amazing, set a great first impression for the restaurant. Crunchy and melty all at once: everything I hoped for and more. Fried cheese sounds like it should be heart-stoppingly greasy, but actually the amount was just right for two people and I didn't feel like it was too rich at all. The two dips provided (aioli and a chili sauce) weren't very good. The aioli tasted kind of plasticky while the chili sauce didn't pair well with the flavour of the cheese curds. But the curds were amazing enough on their own that no dip was necessary.
The biggest disappointment of our meal was my spaghettini. The shrimp and mussels were both overdone, and the pasta had no character to it. I could boil better spaghetti than this, y'all. Worse, the sauce was so, so bland. Not creamy at all. Might as well have been canned no name tomato sauce.
Here and there were also pieces of... soft, overdone onion or cabbage, I believe? (EDIT: After consulting the menu, it was actually fennel.) It was cooked to the point where I could not have distinguished one from the other. I seriously have no idea what that was doing in the pasta. This dish is not inedible by any means, and it's not a heavy serving so I was able to finish all of it, but it's a mediocre menu item that isn't at all worth $23.95.
My bf had much better luck with his selection of house smoked back ribs. Sorry for the picture, I took it from my side, but just know that it looks so much more appetizing in person. He was so in love with the fries he barely used ketchup on them. I had some, and agree that they're really good. Thinner than most fries, they smelled heavenly, and hovered on the cusp between crispy and burnt but in a good way. And you best believe that coleslaw was something special because he actually ate most of it.
The hazelnut tart I ordered for dessert was something new for me. I've never had a dessert that was this dense. It was like biting into an extremely thick, dark chocolate fudge. It was a little on the bitter side for me, but the coconut ice cream provided a good flavour contrast. Overall, not my favourite dessert but I'm glad I got to try it!
Amazing food, great service. Staff was really friendly. I got one of their pizza's, would suggest for sure. Only draw back i would say is the mood lighting is a little dim. I will definitely visit again.
