Good food, but the staff wasn't the most welcoming, the view and drinks are nice though.

Service incredibly slow an average 30min wait for a drink. Can't make a basic cocktail to save their life, quite comical experience actually.
We are locals and went to the Cafe for the first time, to celebrate my birthday with our young children, last night. Both my husband and I ordered the seafood risotto with mental images of a tasty paella style meal. Neither of us ate our meal as it was so tasteless. It should have been called a spinach & water risotto with the odd shrivelled shrimp. Granted they classify this as a cafe and not a restaurant. But still very disappointing, especially when there is so many great options in the area at the same price point. An expensive misadventure ruined a special occasion. We won't be back to try the restaurant.
Nice comfortable laid back bistro with food to satisfy the whole family. Service is always good and attentive with great views out to Balmoral beach. Fish and chips is always a winner.
We visited the restaurant for lunch a few years ago. Service was outstanding. This is a top-level restaurant where staff take pride in their work. If you step outside, and walk about 80 metres south you'll find a plate positioned on the ground near the water that explains the history of the Balmoral Promenade and Balmoral Rotunda: During the Depression of 1929-1934 the NSW Government funded local councils to provide relief work for the unemployed...Projects undertaken by relief workers for Mosman Council included new roads, road widening, parks and works on the foreshores.
This beachfront restaurant is a great place to go and have a fantastic meal right on the beach. I would highly recommend making a reservation earlier rather than later as it gets dark pretty quickly and then you can't see this incredible view. if you're looking to save money skip the formal restaurant and go to the cafe. It's the same view but at a fraction of the price. in the city where everything close is pretty early, the cafe stays open pretty late. The service at this restaurant is fantastic and the waiters can steer you in the right direction. We had a three-course set meal. The amount of food was just right and everything was plated very creatively.
Great spot for brunch/lunch right on the sand at Balmoral - turns into a fancier dining experience for dinner. Good food in a light, bright space.
Service was aittle slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Just a bit hungry.
Love going to the bathers cafe, really good location , staff are friendly , food is expensive but of consistent high standard.
Sensational lunch this week.
The fit out is impressive and detailed. The staff friendly and attentive.
I have enjoyed the venue for many years, and the new owners have breathed life back into one of Sydney s best dining spots.
The food, was wonderful. Beautifully presented and delicious flavors. Really can t fault it. Will definitely be back again. And again. And again.
Amazing service and delicious food with a view into the kitchen. It was interesting to see them prepare. The decor has a particuarly 'by the sea' vibe. And you are literally right by the sea. One step away from the sand. Lovely! There's also a more casual area with a bar.
This restaurant is very expensive for the quality of the dishes offered! Lots of "flashy". Their price does not justify their dishes at all.
Very noisy place and we find that we are stuck!
Otherwise in terms of quality and cooking, there is nothing to say!
In any case, if you want to go there to conclude with a Filipina, this is the ideal place ... ;-) But it has to be worth it because watch your wallet!
Love this place. Parking is difficult. Menu has a good variety
Worst service I have ever experienced. No one ever comes to the table and on top of that they forgot to bring the food on a couple of occasions. It is really a pity as the view is beautiful and the food isn t bad
Great location on the water. We ordered the Raghu. Was tasty and we'll portion. Could use a little more seasoning to lift the flavours. I did love the spinach fettuccine. Nice surprise.
Cocktail never came out after 25min , so when I asked to cancel it they still delivered the drinks and took the charge off the bill, which was nice service recovery.
The food was surprisingly quick, and friendly service to top it off. Not the cheapest venue, but I suppose the location is what justifies the hefty price.
Poor arrogant service. Food presented nice but had absolutely no flavour at all. Very dissapointing when you are paying hundreds of dollars for a meal for 2.
The beef fillet tasted like I was eating a sponge. I have had much more flavourful steaks at cheap restaurants.
Just because you can see water out a window and some swirls of sauce/flowers on a plate with small portions of food. Doesn't mean you can charge a fortune
Not cheap but excellent food, wine and service, with a great view over the beach. Great for special occasions.
Excellent food, attentive staff and one of Sydney's greatest harbourside locations. Parking can be a hassle. Plan your visit ahead of the crowds.
I think it was just the perfect place because we didn t have to wait for a long time and it was really delicious!
Had our company Christmas party here. Amazing food!!! Beautiful views of the beach. Picturesque
Nice casual restaurant with a great view. Has high chairs.
In terms of the costly price for dinner - 110 3 courses, food was so regular, forgot about it straight away. View is good, service is good tho.
The service at The Bathers' Pavilion was tops!
It was my boyfriend's birthday but we were late for our reservation because of my work. The kitchen was supposed to close at 8.30pm but they waited for us, and Gary the restaurant manager gave us a warm welcome!
They also wrote Happy Birthday with chocolate on my boyfriend's dessert plate, topped with a sparkler and sang Happy Birthday song. The food was amazing and beautiful on the plates and I was really glad I chose this restaurant for the birthday celebration! We will be back again to enjoy the sunset views. Thanks Gary and all at The Bathers' Pavilion!
Great view! Great food! Nice and friendly environment
Beautiful setting and consistently good food, service and ambience. Not the cheapest but we always bring visitors to Sydney here.
Amazing place with good service. Food quality while outstanding the taste could yet be improved. I wish there was 4.8
Up level fine dining and best view straight to sea.
Fortunately we got half price meals here and we paid $120 (excluding drinks) for 2 people. Rip off for people who pay full price. Food is ok but lacks flavour and portions small, saying that dessert was enjoyable. Service by the waitor was terrible who was smug and unhelpful. This would diff be a 1 star if you pay full price!
Great Christmas Lunch, Very Busy But That Did Not Affect The Quality of The Food Which Was Outstanding
Amazing location and good food, and the waitstaff are nice. Rude people in charge though. Three times now I ve ordered a three course meal, which has taken a long time to arrive. No problem there, but...then I ve been hassled to order the next course, eat it fast, and leave in under an hour. Last time the guy actually told me (and others) three times in 10 mins that they wanted the table soon. I d been there 45 mins, ordered 3 courses, was paying a fortune for it, and they don t take bookings - so it s not the diners problem if they are busy. The attitude seems to be that the diners are lucky to go to Bathers, not Bathers is happy to have the diners. I hesitated to write all this because I ve always been a fan, but it s the only way things improve.
I actually had there my first date 2 years ago, everything was wonderful. Lovely view, great food , I have become a regular ... since the renovation the staff actually became less attentive and nice, as locals we know this place don't really have much competition but they should try bit more..waitres on the balcony is a bit too bossy and downstairs not only the milk in my coffee was off , I specifically asked for decaf coffee and recive normal coffe, didn't expect a free coffee but a* sorry for the trouble would be nice! When someone asks for something maybe serve it accordingly you never know someone health condition, being busy or tired should not effect your service, extremely disappointed
Love the atmosphere there, and the dessert is amazing !
Service was very slow and poor, food was ordinary and nothing special.
We had to ask if we could have a menue after 10 min sitting there. We ordered a bottle of wine and they took our wine away, and every time our glass was empty we had to ask if we could have some more of our wine.
We had a 5 course degustation, my third course Slow cooked pork cheek was peice of fat. I had to tell a waiter and he just said I let the kitchen know. No one even apologise for their bad food.
It could just be our experience but I won't risk my chance next time.
A little tired however I understand a Reno. approaches. Food is good, the location perfect.
Tried the new Thai restaurant Betel Leaf on the upper level. It was fantastic. Go and get an outside table. The view is amazing. Take a taxi/Uber! Parking can be very difficult on sunny days.
Seems the service level has drastically dropped since the renovation. Went for a 3pm drink on a Saturday. Not overly busy but all the staff seemed to ignore us coming in. An atmosphere of generally grumpy and hard to engage with staff. The waitress taking my payment at the end yawned in my face. Needless to say, will not be coming back.
Always a very pleasant to visit for coffee or whatever.
Possibly the most desirable breakfast location in Sydney. Beachfront location, delicious and relaxed breakfast.
Great food, great service, great view. Serving sizes were a bit small for the price. But quality of ingredients and presentation of dishes could not be faulted. Props to the floor manager who gave us the option of waiting a few minutes to clear a table with a spectacular view rather than sitting us at a table with an average view that was already available.
Beautiful location and menu selection, staff are friendly but the service could use some improvement
Awesome and beautiful surroundings and harbour views. Had breakfast and the eggs benedict was a disappointment and the cappuccino was a bit stake and bitter
Came here for a birthday lunch after a 12-year absence, and I still love this place. Dying to give 5 stars but the beef tenderloin let things down rather.
We had a three-course lunch that was mostly lovely from start to finish. The waiters were smiling, warm and polite. The pacing of the courses was just right. The space was fresh and bright, retaining the original feel of a luxe beach house despite the years. A golden oldie.
The pork cheek was a revelation in melt-in-the-mouth richness, it could have stood proudly on its own without the carrot and yogurt rolls.
The Murray cod was another winner, loved the squid ink crumb and squid linguine. The seaweed was a welcomed addition. Little florets of roasted cauliflower grounded the ocean flavours with toasty earthiness, and the dashi stock was like the milk after you have eaten all the cereal - capturing all the yumminess and prolonging the experience.
The beef aside, it was good to be back, and I look forward to more visits to come. Saw Serge Dansereau in chef s whites talking to some guests in the reception area; great to see he s still at the helm .
Flew down for lunch , fabulous as always see you soon
Had such a wonderful dining experience, service was friendly and knowledgeable, fantastic location, meal was great but a little pricey. Would go there again but only on a special occasion.
We enjoyed a delightful New Years Eve dinner here with friends. Service, food presentation and views were all excellent. The cost was $150 per head last drinks and coffee for the New Years Eve meal. They even prepared a special dessert presentation for my sister's birthday.
The renovated Bathers Pavillion is a great breakfast and brunch choice with a good selection of fresh produce, vegan and gluten free options and a wonderful view thrown in! An unmissable stop if you re coming to Sydney. Also does a great dinner menu. The barista drew the most amazing picture of a koala on my flat white. You WILL not be disappointed. Take a walk along the promenade to walk off your meal and see the people that live in Sydney enjoy their best harbour beach .
Services are good here, we have 2 waitresses constantly attending to us. Coffee is very nice, food is tasty and they are COVIDSafe.
The view from within the restaurant on a sunny day is breathtaking. We enjoyed this experience.
I recently went for breakfast with our 1-year old and my wife.
We both ordered the 'Balmoral Breakfast'. Now, Balmoral as a place is beautiful. This breakfast however, is not. Paying $24 for 1 sausage, 1 bacon, potato roti and scrambled egg you would expect it to be decent. The potato roti that it came with, was tasteless and greasy.
By Mosman standards, this was one of the worst breakfasts we have had in a long time. We left massively underwhelmed.
Usually, good service requests feedback at the end of the meal. Unsurprisingly, the staff didn't ask how everything was, even though there was two plates with uneaten sausages.
Hopefully they will take this onboard as the view onto the beach deserves better food to accompany it.
The food was amazing, so was the service. I love it here.
One of the best fine dining restaurants around. We had the 7 course degustation and wasn't disappointed
Wonderful dining experience overlooking Balmoral Beach
Hopeless. Hopeless. Hopeless. Where do I start? What is the selection criteria for getting a job here? It seems like just being warm and vertical is enough (as opposed to cold and horizontal). No training or hospitality knowledge needed in a restaurant that attempts to trade in the upper league. The wait staff were totally clueless. I felt like I was back in Lane Cove.
Sure the location and decor are fantastic, but that s about it. It is let down by staff who are inattentive, unknowledgeable and obviously untrained. Just embarrassing for everyone.
We only had drinks and oysters, and after looking at the food served at the adjacent tables, wisely did not stay for a full lunch. The crumbed pork and chicken salad looked like the fare they serve in an RSL in Parramatta. And to think the customers had to mortgage their houses just to pay for the entrees here. Hahaha
If you are looking for top service from waiters who are on the ball, excellent food and a magical experience, save your money and go to the Public Dining Room, also in Balmoral. It s just a few hundred meters away.
Sadly closed now for two months for renovations. Hopefully their vibe is not lost or too $$$.
Great food and a fantastic location to eat and enjoy the view.
Well that was a big success. Last night we were at the newly opened Bathers Restaurant at Balmoral beach. It was superb. The upstairs champagne lounge overlooking the beach was lovely. The main restaurant was very busy . The food, wine and service was all great. An overall wonderful evening.
Beautiful views of the beach. Delicious brekky and lunch menu. Excellent service. Balmoral's crown attraction for a Sunday outing.
Lunch degustation was delicious! coupled with the lovely view.
Good food and good service- a bit on the pricey side
We went to the cafe. It is located right next to the beach, so it has a very nice view. It is a family friendly cafe with very polite staff. The food was lovely, just a bit on a pricier side.
Just ok. Really average service. Food was better. Pizza was really good. Value poor. Needs a lift.
Came in with my family for an early sitting dinner. The food was great and the view and location was unbeatable (right on the beach)
Service a little slow on a Sunday but food and drinks are impeccable
could be soo much better - asked for salad undressed with dressing on the side, got it wrong sent it back, manager came around to explain why couldnt do it, sent it back again - just gave me the original sald with extra dressing on the side. gave up after that.
Great views and generally excellent food. But I ve been seriously food poisoned here once and recently service in the cafe leaves a few things to be desired. On a Sunday night the head waiter took the liberty to teach my 3.5 year old how to be a good girl and behave herself where she actually hadn t said or done anything. But we were left begging for some attention to place our orders - there was one or two waiters for over 30 patrons. Think they d be better off providing customer service instead of acting as pre-school educators.
Lovely setting. Loved entrees. Good choice of mains. Service friendly but a bit busy.
