Came here for a birthday lunch after a 12-year absence, and I still love this place. Dying to give 5 stars but the beef tenderloin let things down rather.
We had a three-course lunch that was mostly lovely from start to finish. The waiters were smiling, warm and polite. The pacing of the courses was just right. The space was fresh and bright, retaining the original feel of a luxe beach house despite the years. A golden oldie.
The pork cheek was a revelation in melt-in-the-mouth richness, it could have stood proudly on its own without the carrot and yogurt rolls.
The Murray cod was another winner, loved the squid ink crumb and squid linguine. The seaweed was a welcomed addition. Little florets of roasted cauliflower grounded the ocean flavours with toasty earthiness, and the dashi stock was like the milk after you have eaten all the cereal - capturing all the yumminess and prolonging the experience.
The beef aside, it was good to be back, and I look forward to more visits to come. Saw Serge Dansereau in chef s whites talking to some guests in the reception area; great to see he s still at the helm .
