Come here for the food, the service, the wine and the view! We had the entree of Sydney rocks which were fat, juicy and and generous serving paired with an amazing aged balsamic based dressing the beef steak was interesting with half medium rare and the other slow cooked. The wine was the best sweet white we ve ever had, the gewurztraminer from Alsace didn t smell anything close to what it tasted like! Have been trying to find this bottle every since !! The view was such a nice Sunday lunch vibe! Highly recommend for a romantic lunch for two

Delightful experience, true to its reputation. Food was excellent.

Presentation of the food was impeccable with easy explainations of what to expect.

I asked for vegetarian and gluten free food that was prepared very well.

Food was delicious and healthy.

Must go in Sydney.

Great view and space marred by appalling service. The food was really good but our waitress was disengaged to the point of rudeness as well as being inattentive. Other waitstaff were less rude but equally feckless and unprofessional, standing around and giggling rather than looking out for customers. This was in the bistro so maybe going for the restaurant is a strategy to improve the situation. After three weeks of eating out in and around Sydney this stood out for all the wrong reasons, sad to say.

Being a local in the Balmoral area, I frequent Bathers pavilion among many other restaurants in the area. Bathers pavilion is the superior restaurant by far in the Balmoral area.
In all the times I have visited the restaurant and there have been many, I have only ever experienced the most incredible food and coffee. Combined that with the exceptional service, which is always warm and attentive. In fact I would go further to say that all the staff including the kiosk staff exceed expectations, makes Bathers Pavilion my go to.
I have tried their recent change in menu for both breakfast and lunch and I am delighted.
I can not recommend The Bathers Pavilion enough.

We recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at Bathers, and would have loved to say that the experience was nothing but seamless. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

We had a small 50 person wedding at Bathers (upstairs function space), which included a ceremony on the terrace. We had chosen Bathers thinking that the level of service and experience would be no concern at all due to the smaller wedding size and known reputation of the restaurant itself. However, the lead up to the wedding and the wedding event itself proved to be a bit of a disappointment and did not meet our expectations considering the cost per person was not cheap.

Pre-Wedding
Event manager incorrectly advised that we couldn't use a pastor in a public venue which we then had to review the contract / deposit agreement before flagging that we were not advised of this. Had we not reviewed ourselves, we would have been left believing that we were unable to have a religious wedding.
Event manager repeatedly forgot and did not take note of confirmed details we advised (run sheets not updated with given information)
Was not given any notice when Event Manager was going on annual leave one week prior to our event, which was a crucial time for us to make final decisions and organize final payments with confirmation of details from Bathers needed to do so

Day of Wedding
Received an email from Event Manager on the afternoon of the wedding (after he had clarified some details with my husband on the phone) saying that he was confused about tables being delivered and asked when they were going to be picked up (even though this was already advised by my husband).
Were given a very limited time of an hour and a half time given to set up which caused everyone setting up to rush (set up by florist, stylist and husband was still happening when guests arrived on time even though they were already rushing), therefore making it impossible to do a thorough set up let alone time to fit in time for a sound system check (or even do anything about it if there was an issue)
Indoor sound system had significant issues especially during speeches + first dance / general portion of music (which resulted in a very apparent disjointed flow of the night)
No offered solution for sound system issue besides asking us to change device and not touch it due to a faulty wire (for example, no back up wires on hand even though the option of playing music using owned sound system is offered as an option)
Husband and I spent a lot of time running around looking for solutions (with assistance of guests) during our own event instead of being able to spend time with our guests. Ultimately, we felt like we were working our own wedding as there was not adequate amount of staff around to assist in addressing the issue
Wine & beer serving was extremely limited from 9pm onwards (drink package was to go until midnight). Guests had to repeatedly go to the kitchen themselves to ask for a drink top up after waiting a significant amount of time and even then, still had to wait a while. Beer selection also became limited (cheapest option was the only option being offered).

The food was excellent and the space / terrace view is beautiful but this was not enough to make up for the pain points above.

All of these points were expressed to Bathers post-wedding, but were met with disagreement that the service and experience offered was acceptable.

Planning a wedding is a stressful experience in itself, and unfortunately - I cannot say that Bathers made things any easier for us. In fact, at times - made it more difficult than necessary. As a restaurant, Bathers delivers - but as a wedding venue, they have a lot to work on.

Fine food at balmoral beach, in a luxurious setting. We were here on a Saturday, and had to wait 30 minutes. It s absolutely worth the wait, and they conveniently give you a call when the table is ready.

5/5 for the location, 3.5/5 for the food in the cafe (didn't do fine dining this time). Quality of the produce used was high. Going d cafe latte. If you drive and park close to the beach be prepared to pay $9 an hour for council parking.

fine dining add on
Heirloom tomato salad tasted like normal tomatoes.
Beef was good, but a little sparse for $50, 100g tops. the lamb was too salty. the beef was also salty, but add enough balance to offset that.
good pinot noir suggestion from the sommelier, but at $127 was not for the budget conscious. the fact I waited 10 mins with an empty glass and had to ask for them to bring the bottle back so I could have some more was a little below the service that goes with the fine dining price tag.

Dinner review: pretty good.

Dinner review: pretty good.

Oysters were decent, beef main was very good but I was jealous of my wife's lamb with a much richer sauce. Excellent cheese selection.

But for $310 (for a couple, with modest drinks) I need to be a little more critical. The tables are quite close and not all that private, service could have been a little more snappy, and the food was excellent but didn't blow my socks off. So four stars, not five.

Terribly overpriced. Food was so mediocre and tasteless. The market fish was a thin fillet of swordfish. Our prawns were 3 prawns for 44 dollars was just crazy expensive for something I could have done better. The salad was small as well. The waiting staff was hugging the drinks close to their faces and not even in a tray. Little too close for comfort. Totally decided to never go back. If you ve got money to burn and be seen you may enjoy this place.

Disappointing for dinner. The menu is unimaginative and overpriced and meals are not balanced. There is only one option for carbs and that's fries; no bread or rice. Inside the AC was too high and everyone was obviously cold but apparently they couldn't do anything about it and we were then offered iced coffees! Inexperienced staff: the service also doesn't warrant the prices.
On the plus side there's a beautiful view and the space is really lovely.

No doubt the best cafe at balmoral, the presentation of food is fresh and generous quantity, service is quite helpful and efficient, price is competitive or even lower than next door cafes. The most impressive thing is the consistent high standards in this catering place never change, absolutely building up a great model in Mosman. Well done.

I am enjoying the coffee, simple food and book reading hour on the seat before travellers visit balmoral.

Spectacular views, exotic food, great coffee. This was the best spot for a Sunday morning breakfast. Arriving at 8:00am for a photography exhibition by Les Irwig upstairs, our group had a choice of tables near windows with sea views and paintings for sale on many walls. The warm bowl of rice with spiced salmon and kale was flavoursome, and the Balmoral breakfast with hash brown and sauteed mushrooms very filling. Serving sizes were generous and the soy lattes delicious. Don't miss the exhibition.
