Barrymore Furniture Review

BEWARE! FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES!! We ordered 2 chairs last February. We were told 6 months delivery. After many phone calls and promises we have now been told we will not get our chairs and our deposit of $3,800.00 will NOT be returned to us either!! Barrymore is in financial trouble and the bank has taken them over and will not give any money back if you have given them a deposit!

Extremely disappointing customer service!

I found a chandelier on a US online site that I could only order through Barrymore s or another firm I had never heard of. Of course I went with Barrymore s as they are a well established institution in Toronto.

I was advised it was a custom order and given summertime period Delivery would likely take 10-12 weeks.

I followed up at about 8 weeks after I placed the order and was advised no news . I called back again at 12 weeks and got the same message and same at my 14 week follow up call. At this point I insisted on getting a confirmed delivery date or I would have to cancel my order.

Two weeks later, today, I called and and found out they still had no idea of when the chandelier would be delivered; we are now Approaching the 5 month mark since I placed my order!

When I pressed for an explanation and tried to get a sense of when it might arrive, I couldn t get a straight answer. Rather I was told their was a mix up with the order and it went it late, but manager wouldn t say how late - But I pushed and I gather it was months late in going in. I was the. offered an apology and deposit refund. I agreed to refund because I lost faith in their ability to deliver. Sounds like major mess up in their process.

But, what s most disappointing is the number of calls I made to my salesperson who said he would get back to me after each call - but not once did he proactively follow up after my 3 inquiries!!! When I tried to escalate last time I called, I had no luck.

I will never do business with Barrymore again and I have made a point of sharing this story with everyone who asks why I have a bare lightbulb hanging in my newly renovated dining room/home.

I am shocked by this given Barrymore s solid rep. I can t help but wonder if their move to Caledonia Road Coincides with these service levels. Hopefully they won t go the way of Art Shoppe who is now closing shop after moving from its iconic Yonge and Eg location. That would be a shame

My family and I are incredibly disappointed with Barrymore and quite frankly, shocked with their abysmal customer service. We spent a significant amount of money on a full dining room set. Exactly one week after purchase one of my family member was sitting in the dining chair, during Christmas dinner, and the chair back snapped in half. It's a miracle this happened to my brother who could withstand the fall, had it been an older, more frail family member the outcome could have been far more dangerous.

Since notifying Barrymore of this situation the response has been pathetic. We had to bring the broken chair into the showroom after being questioned "how were you using the chair?" and the only fair response time was how quickly the staff on the floor ran up and removed the broken chair from view of other customers.

Sharon Wiseman, the "Interior Design Consultant", has informed us this is our problem to rectify with the manufacturer. Barrymore is not having any hand in helping to resolve this as they are going through "restructuring".

IN OTHER WORDS, DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT BARRYMORE.

Barrymore lied about their pricing, in making a fradulent misrepresentation about Stressless's prices. They alleged that Stressless sets prices that Barrymore can't control, but Stressless confirmed that they never set prices.

I emailed the owner, but he never replied materially to my complaint. I plan to sue Barrymore.

Recently we purchased a beautiful custom sofa from Barrymore. Rudy, the Assistant Manager, was wonderful in helping my wife select the style and fabric that we ultimately chose. He contributed his extensive knowledge in design to guide us in choosing details that personalized our sofa. We are very happy with the finish product. The quality of the workmanship and materials give us confidence we will enjoy this furniture for many years to come. The great service was extended by the delivery people who brought our new furniture into the house. They were considerate of our home and took care to place the furniture. Thank you, Rudy. Thank you, Barrymore.

My husband and I had such an amazing experience with Barrymore! We recently purchased all of our living room and dining room furniture from them..We absolutely love everything!! The couches and accent chairs are so comfortable and durable.. They look amazing in our new space. All of our fabrics that Sharon the designer at Barrymore helped us choose go so well together with our other pieces. We have gotten so so many compliments from family and friends!

Order furniture from may 26th, only one piece shows up at my house just to found out from the delivery man that the rest is at a later date. no communication. When finally got them on the phone pure lies. Now is August and still don't have my furniture and they have my ,$13 350.0 I have to consider cort need my money back

After a long battle with them, because I did pay Barrymore furniture with my master card and according to the agreement that was on the contract that furniture would be deliver on certain date and was not delivered and also only one used piece of sofa was delivered the bank pulled back all of my money. They were notified to pickup the one piece of sofa, still waiting, but I got back my full amount.

Extremely racist. Attention all discerning black people avoid this shitpost like the plague. Broke service reps will be busy sizing you up as they fight over the crumbs during their shift. The one star is only because there is no option for - 10 stars.

I have used Barrymore Furniture for over 20 years and received my first pieces from their former location on King Street W. The furniture and fabrics are that good and have lasted this long! Not having seen their "new" location, I was totally impressed with the selection and variety they have now. I am the proud owner of some new pieces and totally believe that buying quality is well worth the investment. Overall and very good experience!

I recently purchased two Fletcher sofas from Rudy. I went in to look at the Grayson model I had seen on the Marilyn Denis show and was fortunately approached by Rudy who is an interior design consultant with impeccable taste. He accurately assessed my needs and suggested the Fletcher sofa in a beautiful gray blue velvet he chose from a picture of my carpet and the accent pillow on my settee sofa. I now have two timeless, elegant, and luxurious sofas of excellent quality. I was very impressed with all of Rudy's suggestions. Thank you so much.

I extensively renovated the main floor of my house in the Dufferin Grove area and realized that I needed a sofa. I'd heard of Barrymore and passed their building on Caledonia, many times, but had never been in it. Two women friends of mine and I decided to take a look and met Rudy el Maghariki, one of the salesman. These things are not cheap so you want solid advice. I got it from Rudy and am really delighted with my sofa which is amazingly comfortable and looks beautiful. I highly recommend Rudy who really knows what he's talking about. My two friends were very impressed.

We were extremely impressed with the level of service and professionalism that was given to us from our Design Consultant, Vincent Pong. We felt very comfortable with his suggestions as he walked us through the various products, styles and fabrics for our sofa and chair which we had custom made to our liking. Vincent was very flexible with our schedules and communicated with us from beginning to end, which was very appreciative given the time needed to complete our furniture. He was honest and a pleasure to work with!! Aside from Vincent's expertise and customer service, which we valued very much, the quality of the products and selections available were very impressive! We would recommend Barrymore Furniture and our Design Consultant to anyone of our friends, family and colleagues. We will definitely be returning for any future purchases.

We recently bought a dining table, chairs and buffet from Barrymore. Using salesperson Rudy s expertise, we found exactly the right pieces for our space. He was great at helping us coordinate colours and design patterns. The delivery guys were friendly and meticulous in setting up our furniture. Overall a great experience.

We bought a Marshall Mattress from Rudy at Barrymore's. The service we received was exceptional ! The delivery team was professional and courteous. We will definitely buy at Barrymore's in the future.

Staff might be a little on the snooty side but if you want a couch that will last literally forever, this is the place to go. You can get some better deals in the clearance/floor model pieces they sell in an adjacent room - that's what we did. A similar priced lazy-boy sofa we bought a few yrs ago is already sagging while the Barrymore is lovely. My back is horrible and I can only stand to sit on the Barrymore one. I really want to replace the lazy-boy eyesore with another Barrymore but cannot afford it. My mom is 82 and in pain all the time but insists on suffering on the Lazy-Boy to save money. So the moral of the story is: scrape and scrounge for a Barrymore and never buy Lazy-Boy.

My girlfriend and I just bought our first couch from Barrymore's last weekend during the spring sale. We had Roma as our sales associate. She helped us pick our fabrics and even gave us advice on the layout of our room. Not only was she helpful, she was so friendly and accommodating too! We really didn't have any idea what we were doing, so she happily walked us through everything we needed to know. (It was almost like she knew what we wanted before we did). I highly recommend finding her in the store if you want an excellent couch buying experience. We are just looking forward to getting the couch now!

I left the store with the most amazing easy chair that was super comfortable and was well worth the money and I get loads of compliments on it in my library. Rudy, gave me some great options and choices and really listened to what I needed. I would definitely shop with him again at Barrymore.

Furniture shopping is never where I want to be but necessity forces one out the door. By luck, salesperson Vincent Pong appeared. After a bit of discussion, he zeroed in on what could work for our home. I ordered a sofa ... and simply love it! Then I purchased two living room chairs - after a lot of back and forth that would test the best salesperson in the world and Vincent passed. The chairs work magic with the sofa. Thank you Vincent! And, the entire experience was made even better by the Barrymore delivery professionals. They topped off what it means to be a Barrymore customer by being engaging, friendly and so respectful of my home ... they delivered in the worst winter weather and kudos to them. Lastly, I find the quality of the furniture to be exceptional. Comfortable, substantial and the pieces are timeless. Definitely a 10 on the five-point scale!!

Came looking for a sofa a few weeks backand had a great visit with Sharon. Very smooth process the whole way through and I even left with a few decorative pieces that I wouldn t have expected to fit my budget. Thanks for the great service and experience!

Ordered a $5000.00 table in July 2019, paid deposit of half, now being told mid December 2019 after excuses, dodging phone calls and delays that we are not getting our table, not getting our $2500.00 deposit back and the bank is now in charge of their financials, They are selling all their floor inventory. I see the owner often comments on here perhaps he could respond .

Beautiful furniture and excellent customer service, I was very grateful to see Ms Roma there who was really nice, friendly and very professional in service she was offering and helped me make my decision on a very beautiful consul and was really flexible for delivery, I was totally very satisfied with herself and the team.

My sister owns 2 couches from Barrymore. I could tell that these couches are high quality because my nephews are constantly jumping on the couches and it still looks and feels amazing! I recently went to the showroom and ended up buying 2 couches and an accent chair. The sales staff were very professional and helpful...even the delivery guys were amazing. I will definitely come back to Barrymore.

Walked in and was there for over 15mins, and yet not a single salesperson even asked if we would like assistance. We own a Barrymore couch and was there to look at a bed and table. Well, Barrymore, you can kiss that sale goodbye.

And, I absolutely did notice that the White lady who walked in behind me got immediate assistance.

My experience with Barrymore, when looking for a comfortable living room chair, was outstanding from beginning to end. Sharon Wiseman showed me several suitable options as well as her valuable insights and design knowledge in the process. The selection of fabrics is fabulous. The delivery of my chair exceeded expectation by 3-5 weeks. Delivery team was amazing too -- arrived on time, put felt pads on the bottom of the chair legs etc. Highly recommended!

Wish we had known this store sooner. We ordered a dining set few months ago after looking a lot of stores in Toronto. The sales person Rudy was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. After a while he notified us that the table base which we had specifically chosen was not available by the manufacturer anymore. We were very disappointed. He followed up this and managed to find one last of that table base in the US and arranged for it to be delivered for our order. The set was delivered today to our satisfaction. Well done Rudy.

THEY ARE BANKRUPT!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. They took our deposit 3 months ago and kept having problems with suppliers (not giving them credit) and their own manufacturing (now closed.) Was just called with information about their creditors for us to call and TRY to get our deposit back, they did not seem to think we had much hope.

The furniture is stunning at Barrymore and I loved the experience and the professionalism of the staff. We were getting a new sofa for our condo. The associates helped us understand which sofa would work best and a style to go with how we wanted to decorate. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We ordered a couch in April and were told we would have it in 6-8 weeks. It is now October and we still don't have the couch or any communication on where it is or when it will be here. It's extremely frustrating, but we've already paid in full so I guess there isn't much we can do.

The sales staff are friendly and eager to help you. However, once the order is placed, beware of the LONG WAIT to receive your furniture. I waited over 5 months for my furniture to arrive. As I write, this, I'm still waiting. All I heard were 'delays from the manufacturer". Not once did they take ownership of the situation, call regarding the delay, or even be sincerely apologetic. I called them once at the 4 month mark and asked what is happening with my order, they said there are delays and would call me back with an update; they never did. I called again and asked the same question; same answer.
I would stay away from this place unless you don't mind waiting half a year for a piece of furniture. Their after sales customer service is left to be desired ...

love this store! This is by far my favourite furniture store I've ever been to. I was deciding on a couch between Barrymore and ELTE and I decided to go with the couch from Barrymore. Salesperson was very professional and helpful. She helped me make the right decision! Would highly recommend Barrymore furniture!

We purchased a dining room set, made by Dinec in 2014. In 2017, I wrote to Barrymore to let them know how poorly the chairs were wearing. They never bothered to respond. Now, two years later, the chairs need to be reupholstered. Terrible quality and customer service.

I am pleased to note that the president of Barrymore contacted me and we worked towards a satisfactory resolution to my concerns. Thank-you Barrymore for your flexibility and professionalism in arriving at a compromise.

I have purchased a Barrymore chair and sofa and they cannot be beat for comfort, quality and durability. The sales staff were also very helpful in helping choose (custom build) furniture that fits with my the look I was trying to create.

Overpriced, outdated . Don't waste your time to even going there.

Barrymore Furniture in Toronto is excellent! The store has a great selection of all types of furniture in a variety of styles. Our salesperson Rudy and the whole team have provided outstanding service, from advice on style and colour, to customizing some furniture, to timely and friendly delivery. We are very happy with our Barrymore-furnished new home and can recommend them without reservation!

We have dealt with Lucy Babayan several times at Barrymore and must say she is the absolute best. Never a sense of urgency she takes time with you to understand exactly what you need. Her design capabilities for product, pattern and colours has been precisely what we have desired.
Barrymore quality is a step above every other furniture store, they make it for you with your chosen fabrics.
We will always go to Lucy and Barrymore for all furnishings there is nothing better.
