The best bar and door staff for a pub of its size anywhere in Dublin.

Loove McGowans wverytime i come here i have a ball..They dont allow thugs and the deinks music and vibe is good staff are friendly special mention to the lady in the womans toilet who was so warm and looked after my friend when she was upset

Didn't like it at all they really don't like new customers I was made feel very unwelcome

Never ever that pub security Big asow in glasses refuse my entrance I had ticket completely no drank well dress and hi seeing it's finish was 1:15 pm that is big issue. I had birthday that day and I'm very disappointed if somebody go der can't by sure to go in sithoole

The service could improve, we spent a long time waiting at the counter to order a beer. Friday night has a DJ, so for those who like to dance and go out in groups is a good one.

The place very clean tasty food and background music does not interfere with the conversation

Have had many a good experience but unfortunately felt had to post. Covid 19 guidelines seem to be not up to speed and one set of rules for one and one set of rules for another. Some pubs that are still closed due to the restrictions should visit and see if they can follow the rules that I seen their and maybe more venues can open. Very strange indeed.

A very good "after pub" in Dublin. The cocktail bar is excellent.

Still playing the same songs every night from 20 years ago. If you're a mid 20s to early 30s boomer, you'll feel right at home. Scabby servings. Can't believe it's a pay in. 0% worth. I only give stars for being open late.

I would not recommend this place under any circumstances. My jacket was stolen from where we were. Toilets are disgusting and smell.The manager was very rude to my friends.Stay away as there are plenty bars in Dublin to chose from.

Place is spotless lovely food wasn't waiting long and kids meals are good value

Great pub. Excellent food, drinks and service. It looks small on the inside. However, it is bigger on the inside then on the outside.

Second time out for food and drinks since lock down was introduced back in March. Seriously impressed with the staff at McGowans for their diligence and adherence to the guidelines. They were absolutely on the ball.

From the moment we arrived, instructions were clear and staff were friendly, as always. Highly recommend.

Came here for a night out with my better half, not too crowded, great music and atmosphere. Spacious smoking area with seating & a bar. Cocktails, beer on tap & spirits all available. Not sure what this place is like during the day, expect it to be busy when Croke Park has an event.

The door staff are very rude, disrespectful and offensive especially that head bouncer who had no respect to me or to my partner. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

Xenophobic, racist place. I tried to go there last Friday and security didn t allow me to go in. When I asked why he said it is because I m Latin. I would never recommend this place.

What a great pub! 5 stars because I couldn't fault it. Welcoming, friendly, competent, attentive, staff, great food, wonderful atmosphere. Price, very reasonable. I enjoyed chicken schnitzel with spicy tomato sauce and mozzarella, served with fries and salad. I asked for tea and was served a great teapot with proper tea in it, a good sized mug and a little milk urn. Great location too. Can't say enough about it. Proper Dublin pub!!

Classic Irish pub . Very nice and big ... We took a plate for two of different types of meat, discreet. We went on Saturday night the place was getting bigger and bigger, DJ set
.. Fun atmosphere, many people drink and dance! It is definitely not a place where you can have a chat, at least on a Saturday night ... But anyway I recommend it especially if you want to spend a different and fun evening because you will see some nice ones. Courteous and helpful staff.

The security folks were real nice and I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews against them.

McGowans is the cult hero, the coppers of the north side! Nice for meeting up with friends for pints and a nice dance, it's big so not too cramped. Always taxis about too which is handy to get home!

Great for a manic night out. Just outside of the main city circle so you can see the change in the price of alcohol. Always a good atmosphere and definitely not as pretentious as most city center places. You're always guaranteed a good night if not an entertaining night!
