I have taken my pet here for the last ten years, and all of the staff including veterinarians, vet techs, and front desk staff are some of the most knowledgeable, kind, compassionate people on the planet. No matter what the reason for bringing your pet in, they are always prompt and attentive and caring, and show a true passion for helping you and your pet be well. At this location, Rachel has been a particular angel, always coming over to sit and talk with us while waiting, and offering jokes and good company while we wait for our cat to be taken care of. Five stars!

I only took my daughter there as a favor for her new kittens first visit, however the staff is very nice, the clinic is set up so nice and they also offered a program, like insurance, for a monthly cost under $40 covered all the basics.

I have visited this branch for 3 years and have worked with some truly great people. Dr. Ellis is whom we currently see and she is patient and kind. Knows my pet and my situation and works with me to make his care affordable. My dog has many medical needs and we see the vet often. We have the most comprehensive wellness plan and every year it pays for itself. You have to be a smart consumer though. Don't accept every recommended treatment without questioning if there aren't less expensive options. When Dr Ellis wasn't available I worked with some of the other vets and was disappointed in the service. I found some to be rude and dismissive, but my pet and I have always enjoyed getting to know Dr Ellis. In fact my dog likes coming here so much so that he begs to come in even if we're just picking up food or medicine.

Care is just okay... I wouldn't sign up with them again. This business is too much of a chain/franchise. Next time I need to take my pet to a vet, I will be looking for a vet that has been established for some time with a good reputation. Sigh...

Because of debit card problem, I thought there was an overpayment for our wellness plan, but a very helpful phone call with Banfield reminded me it was for flea medicine that I had forgotten about. They were very patient, and very helpful, and wanting to make it all right. Excellent interaction.

I've had really good experiences at this location. I know some people talk smack about this company but I have been very pleased with the service here. All the Vets and Tech's I've encountered have given me wonderful service and are very loving and caring towards my dog. The insurance type program they offer has worked out really well for me and allowed me to take excellent care of my dog without being so concerned about getting hit with a huge bill. I also appreciate dealing with a vet that approaches things logically (but caring) without going overboard. Will continue bringing my girl here.

The staff at this Banfield Pet Hospital location are busy, busy, busy! This location is open seven days a week for twelve hours a day and they certainly have the traffic to keep everyone on their roster gainfully employed during operating hours.

Our pup, Bella, was referred here (due to a lack of available appointments at our regular location in Vancouver, WA) to be treated for an issue that developed rapidly enough to rate taking her in as soon as possible. She was placed on this location's schedule for the next morning when I called. The staff ensured she was promptly received, diagnosed, treated and released (with great post-visit care instructions) after her and I walked through their front door.

The staff was exceptionally kind and courteous to the both of us. Bella appears to be experiencing relief from her symptoms that prompted the appointment initially so, to my untrained eye, they must have done a wonderful job of caring for her medically as well!

I wholeheartedly support this business. Thank you for taking such excellent care of our Bear, Banfield Pet Hospital. We'll be back again.

Two months ago we got a new puppy and decided to take him to the location on 82nd near Madison High School. Our puppy loves to go there because he enjoys the staff, the attention, and the snacks they have. The service there has been excellent so we decided to get a pretty plan. Our dog's name is Dogson.

About 8 years I've had a wellness plan here for my pup. It would never be a problem when he's abnormal or not feeling well I can call and get him in. When you pay monthly to get your pet the care they need the service should be available what if my pup is about to die? Now I have to take him to another emergency hospital this is unacceptable I had such a good relationship with you guys for 7 years 5 stars with me for my Pokey now unfortunately I'm going to take him to another place where they can give better care. No I won't reccomend anyone to you guys ever I take back all the good things I've said about this place.

Nice staff and people at first. They offered average care for our family pets.
Later it grows into a hell of trying to cancel over priced pet insurance which they make nearly impossible to do.
This place is a scam that sucks money out of pet owners.
My wife called the corp office as instucted to cancel our pet insurance for our two cats but all we got were adds, rather than any help. Still spitefully paying 80$+ a month for something we dont use. Wouldnt reccomend. This place is sadly dishonest and our family feels cheated and even scammed.
The lack of empathy is alarming for a vet clinic.

It's becoming frustrating being a Banfield Wellnes...

It's becoming frustrating being a Banfield Wellness member and paying the monthly fee for three pets (over $70/month) just to be told on numerous occasions that there are no available appointments until the following week. I am not against going to a different location but it's inconsistent for my dog who benefits from any type of consistency since she is highly anxious and nervous.

Furthermore, when locations are all booked out and cannot accept any walk-in appointments (we are talking locations as far west as Hillsboro and as far east as Gresham including all locations in-between), it forces us to have to go to vets outside of the Banfield network which is costly, considering the benefit of the wellness plan is reduced cost of services and prescriptions.

Today even, I tried to schedule an appointment within two days for a semi-urgent medical need for one of my dogs. I was placed on immediate hold, which I never mind, but when the front desk personnel came back on, she rushed me off the phone as soon as she found out I was trying to schedule a same day or next day appointment. She just kept saying there weren't any times available, didn't bother to look up my account, or point me in the direction of another location that might have availability. As she went to hang up on me, I had to tell her to not hang up and that I still needed to schedule an appointment for the following week in which she put me back on hold immediately where I waited long enough to become so frustrated that I called another location (Johnson Creek) to which my experience improved immediately. The gentleman that took my call, scheduled me a next day appointment, carefully listened to the details of why my pet needed to be seen, and transferred my file, without rushing me and in less than 5 minutes.

So this review is with much confliction as on one hand, the services are decently priced under the wellness plan, they have a large enough network that you can (sometimes) float around to other locations for more urgent needs (or if you yourself move) and the staff is generally kind and helpful. But on the other hand, you get an experience like today where you are rushed off the phone without any help and just simply told "No, we can't," to any of your requests for help.

I would really like for my dog to have a consistent location she is seen at so instead of this location (NE Portland off of 82nd), I will see how my animals do at the Johnson Creek Banfield.

Everyone there was nice and the regular visit was ...

Everyone there was nice and the regular visit was reasonable until it becomes time for treatment. You get a young probably new to Veterinary med doctor who spends less than 5 min with you and your pet and someone else comes in and lays on the "recommended" treatment which is no less than double to triple what any other vet in town will charge you. They look for things to hit you with that are not pertinent to the issue. My cat had a small abscess on the back of his neck from a fight. Final recommended bill nearly 500 dollars. We refused several of the treatments but they said he needed the antibiotic that would be 65 dollars. I knew the price was double what it was worth and ask if a prescription could be wrote for a generic and they said that People meds where too strong for the cat. We left with an untreated cat that was diagnosed at a bill of 105 dollars. I called the next day and ask for an approval for the same prescription online on voicemail. They called me back with an approval for that then didn't sign off on the approval. I called them and they refused to approve it and said and antibiotic would not be enough (although they would have done just it in the office) and said because I refused treatment that they would not approve the prescription. So DON'T waste your money. You will spend less at an emergency clinic after hours and get better treatment than going to them on a sunday. I can't stress this enough. They want your money and don't really care about the health of your animal. I feel sorry for the Vets that start out in this kind of corporate environment. It was over a 100 dollar lesson in poor business and overpriced BS.

Don't work with this company. They lied to us about the plan we purchased and found out that the cost of the actual plan was almost twice as much because of a condition our pet has. The issue is they told us the condition and THEN sold us the plan...which doesn't cover the issue. An addition $400 is required to cover the cost. So they ripped us off and when we confronted them they told us they would not work with us OR let us out of the plan. We are trying to resolve the issue but they are UN-Cooperative and their attitude is terrible. They blamed us!! I won't support Banfield on any level if this is their idea of resolution and I suggest you SHOP for a company that cares about the customer. They DON'T

I am extremely upset I took my service animal to b...

I am extremely upset I took my service animal to banfield while we were visiting family in Portland. I noticed him whining when he opened his mouth so I went on Google and follow the signs and symptoms to self discover my service animal had an ear infection I took him immediately to banfield where I told them that he had an ear infection. They didn't listen until the vet tried to open my dogs mouth and then she brought me a bill saying how much everything would be but this bill included blood draws and other tests. After talking I told them I was positive it was just an ear infection and to do the test. Sure enough it was an ear infection. I asked her we're there any other tests that might need to be done and she said no and sent me home with medications for my dog. Never once did she check to see if my dog had a middle ear infection. Well Yeo days again I had to rush my service animal back to the vet because his face was drooping he was drooling and he couldn't blink his eye. I took him to an emergency room for pets and was told that now he has facial paralsis and it is permanent. My dog is paralyzed on one side of his body. ALL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED if they would have done the proper tests the first time. My Dog is My Service Animal and not only is he suffering I am suffering as well. It's so Painful to look at him knowing I failed him even after I tried to get his ear infection fixed. He ear drum is ruptured and he can't hear. I have had him for 8 years and he's never had any serious medical problems outside of this ear infection. After speaking with the vet at the emergency room I was told that this ear infection was not properly diagnosed and that yes had the previous vet taken more time to evaluate to ear infection that my service animal wouldn't have a ruptured ear drum and facial paralsis on his left side. It's beyond stressful and sad especially after I trusted banfield with the care of my service animal. I have to watch him when he eats so he doesn't swallow his tongue I have to put eye drops artificial tears in his eye every hour and he's deaf in his left ear and blind in his eye.. Banfield ruined my Baby my service animal my best friend.. Do Not Trust Banfield with your Loving Friend in my Experience I regret taking my service animal there . Now he is paralyzed on his left side of his face and it's all banfields fault they were rushing, not listening, and negligent with the care of my service animal. If they had just don't a CT scan or something to see the severity of his ear infection my service animal would not be deaf blind and have facial paralsis right now and it's permanent the chances of him being his self again are slim to none. They permanently damaged my service animal preventing him from even be able to do his job, eat, or control his face muscles due to being paralyzed by the ear infection that banfield did not properly treat

Beware of up-selling of products, vaccines, etc you don't need. They run this place kind of like a big business. I'm sure the vets are qualified and the care if good but just be prepared to say no to things like the wellness plan. Kind of manipulative when you have people in wanting to do what's best for their furry friends.

The vet we saw was so great with my ancient 20 year old Kitty, understood that I wanted him to be comfortable but couldn't afford to spend thousands of dollars for him to be that way. He gave my kitty a prescription that helped him feel a lot better without making me feel guilty.

Been a client of Banfield for 6+ years not to mention purchased their "optimum wellness plans". Seems as thought they've had a recent change in their corporate structure, which has turned them into a company that believes in over-vaccinating your animals, and not much care for the well-being of your pet.
I've now had two critical situations, and they've left us hanging. Instance 1 was an ear infection that was getting nasty, and today was a dog that suffered a major injury while playing. Both times after we voiced that it was critical, they offered us a next day appointment and said they only had 1 doctor on staff (even though my dog could be heard yelping in pain through the phone).
Even though we purchased a $700 wellness plan on 2 dogs, we've now had to take our dogs to a different group to get them the care they needed.
I can't stress enough that if you truly care for your pet, please look at different options.

My husband brought our kitty into this location because he was limping and couldn't put any pressure on his back foot, they said they wanted to do an X-ray. He had explained to the vet that our kitty doesn't do well in vets' offices and gets extremely stressed. He was told that either he or I would receive a phone call once the X-ray was completed to discuss the issue. Over 4 hours later neither my husband or I received a phone call, when I called in I was told that the doctor was too busy to talk to me and that our cat was ready to be picked up and had been done for 3+ hours. When my husband arrived to pick him up he was told that our cat was so "freaked" out he had emptied his bowels on himself and they "tried" to clean him off when he was sedated. The doctor had no real diagnosis and we received our cat back in worse condition than we had brought him in. We were given the privilege of paying a large sum of money to clean feces off our cat. I will never bring any of my pets to this location again.

Terrible place. I've been taking my dogs there for over three years without any real good or bad experiences until a few weeks ago. My dog had diarrhea for more than a couple days and since he's nearly 15, I thought I should take him in so I did. They checked him out and I had them run a giardia test which came back negative. I also had them do a blood panel just to see how his insides are holding up for piece of mind. His blood work came back great for his age. They never even mentioned testing for parasites and I didn't think of it. They ended up treating him for GI issues and sent us home with metronidazole, pain meds and probiotics. It seemed like a lot of stuff but I trusted her. I normally do research before giving my dogs anything but the vet gave it to us and he had bad diarrhea so I wanted to start treating him right away. We started him on the meds on a Tuesday evening and by Saturday morning we woke up to him having vestibular disease which we are familiar with because he had it twice a year ago. I immediately started researching the metronidazole since we weren't giving him the pain meds and I wasn't worried about the probiotic. Right away I found tons of articles and blogs about metronidazole toxicity giving dogs vestibular disease. I didn't completely panic because his other two episodes only lasted around 8 hours each. Come Monday, he still can't walk. I end up working from home the entire week carrying him up and down the porch stairs and holding him up to go to the bathroom, making chicken and rice and bringing that and water to his face periodically throughout the day. I took him back to Banfield one more time but they seriously don't know what they're doing. Those two visits cost me 500 dollars by the way. Fast forward three weeks, we now have a different vet, we're 700 dollars in the hole and we have a dog that still has diarrhea and now has a head tilt and constantly walks in circles hitting his head on everything. I don't know why they would give him that medication knowing that he is already susceptible to vestibular disease because it is on his file and I even brought it up at that appointment. I wish I had never taken him there. Their incompetence fills me with sadness and anger everyday when I look at my poor baby's tilted head. :(

I regret leaving Banfield after a year of them caring for my precious Chewy Dog. The monthly fee was very reasonable for my tight budget because it reflected lower costs on regular and unexpected treatments.

In the beginning, I first came to Banfield in an emergency, while traveling with little money. Chewy was thankfully treated promptly.

Each visit after, Chewy enjoyed going to and being at this office in Oregon. I was comforted that Banfield had many facilities in Washington and Oregon just in case we were in need of care.

I'm not sure, cutting the monthly membership is the wisest decision yet, due to me having to cut financial corners to fight my cancer. I can always return later knowing thier best interests and confident skills still would be all about da Chewy dogs health and well being.

Chewy and I both recommend this Banfield office and especially thier Dr's and staff.

I took my 15 year old cat Meow Meow to see the vet because he was sick and unfortunately he was so sick I had to have him euthanized. I have never had to go through something like that before and everyone that worked there was extremely nice and patient and really helped me get through a really hard situation. A week later I received a card in the mail that the whole office signed and gave their condolences, it was really sweet. I even though I used a free first visit coupon I was treated like I had been going there for years and they were really gentle during my Meow Meows last moments.
