These guys are a joke. They've been tearing up our streets for at least 1.5 years now here in Federal Hill around intersections of Clarkson, Fort Ave, Race, Clement, and other roads (longer I think judging from the myriad patched areas and steel plates on Race St).

Disabled people that have fixed incomes dont matter to this company. I try and make my payments but on 2000.00 a month its tough. If I lose my Oxygen machine, I lose my life, but no one there cares.
Anything but helpful. Tried to start new service in myself and my husbands name and wasn't able to do so unless he was present also. Why am I going to go through the process only to call back and do it again to add my husband? Additionally they need to fix their website so you can actually add service online. Why go through the hassle of filling out an online form to only have them not complete it and them you have to call to set it up. Complete run around and a waist of time.
If I could give you 0 stars I would. WRONGFULY TURNED OFF OUR SERVICES AND REFUSE TO WORK WITH US! How does one rack up 20,000 dollars on bill money in a town home? When we pay every month!!! Have proof and all. So now I have to stay at a hotel because of you guys. I will be contacting every possible person I can to make sure this doesn't get swept under the rug. RETURN OUR CALLS!
Awful utility company, worse than usual. Their workers did work on my street and threw their trash into my trash and recycling bins which resulted in me getting fined $$$ by Baltimore City. Very unprofessional and unhelpful.
I would give a ZERO if possible. The fact that BGE has a MONOPOLY on my utilities is unacceptable. Their customer service is awful and they do not even make correct and appropriate notes in the account, but if I want the lights on in the house I have to use them and pay them!!
BGE autopay is a scam. The autopay does not take into consideration extra payments made on accounts and still will take whatever amount the bill states. Autopay should update to the amount owed. BGE took an additional 180 from me and refuse to give me a refund. THIS IS THEFT! I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE FROM CORPORATE IMMEDIATELY
This company is outrageous! I don't know how they come up with their pricing, but I live in a tiny little apartment and am charged an arm and a leg to use what little power i do use. $150 a month for using my TV a few hours a day. Plus their customer service is HORRIBLE! I guess when your a monopoly you can just screw people.
I am unable to reach anyone (human) in the BGE Customer Service department to stop my service and turn service back to my landlord. They have made everything totally automated. BGE doesn't want to deal with a person on the phone.
Customer service was very rude and lacked interpersonal skills. It s a shame that BGE owns this area. I know myself and many others would switch if we could.
Im surprised How this Company is operational in MD Even Government has given a blind eye and been deaf to people A completely unorganized dysfunctional incompetent organization with Field Reps and Most of Service Reps on telephone dont have very clear idea of what they are doing
Not even a customer. Had someone use my credit card information to pay a bill. The associate wouldn t give me any information to help with this problem. Very rude and disrespectful. More worried about customer security than a fraudulent charge that was made aware to the company 2 days prior.
a week without electricity. Talk to customer service and just say sorry but we can not do anything. Tuesday July 7 had to come to install electricity and not get a claw arrival only tell you that we have to expect from 8am to 6pm. Very poor service.
i am not going to tell a story how ever i will say this they trick people and they mighty good at it i was with them for a yr and i just move out i told them i wanted my power off on the 15 of June. a week before i had my power turned off i told her i would like to cancel my service. she said what date would i like to cancel on i said the 15 because i move that day she said ok very nice about it i moved that day. this is all how it began two days later i came back to get a few things my power was still on??? so i called them they said it should not be let me take a look and so i fell for it like like a chump. i came back later the next day keep this in mind i drove 45 mins to check to see if my powers on alot on gas. i called bge again ask them what the hell is wrong with you i want my service gone stop sending power they said ill take a look i said come here now and show me i told them not driving 45 again they said ok well they took 1hr to come to the adress keep this in might there HQ is 20 up the road i was mad as hell with the guy. the guy was surper rude and i told him to fix it didnt care how mad he was he was not paying for my WATTS any way it was finely done with now part 2
i am waiting to receive my security deposit now i put down 250 last year guess how much i got back 13.65 yes you guest it i was surper piss off i called them up ask how the hell they got that number ?? they keep going around and around my questions i was so tired of the lies and bs took 150 as a cancellstion fee i didnt even know there was one no body even told me and did the same thing around and around i told then there money hungry and i am going to replace them with a wind turbine and told them i never want to have any thing to do with you ever agian
Please think twice and i hope this helps any one who reads all this if you dont read all this do your research first
Quite possible one of my worst customer experiences ever!!! Everyone i have spoken to is so rude and so incompetent. Customer rep had the nerve to tell me that their rep at the investigations department was irritated that they had to pull my up my file, but would not tell me what they needed!
Our power went out and I notified BGE. Within a half-hour they had crews out investigating. We had 6 BGE trucks lined up on our street investigating. I heard chainsaws in the woods. It took them 3.5 hrs to get our power on, but they did it! MANY THANKS!!!!!!
We been a loyal customer of BGE for Nine years and we recently move to new house and they cut our power because the house was empty for couple days, we called them and they said they need a document of the house and we've fax them and when we call back, they said they haven't received our fax, it's been two weeks were Without a power, they're bunch of lazy ass fk,
One year after raising rates they tell people to conserve to lower their bill. So I did just that. When no one was home, I'd turn off the house power. When I worked from home, I would turn off everything in the house but my office and internet. The bill went from over 300 dollars down to 120. So I kept it going. Apparently I wasn't the only person conserving. Later they announced increases due to not meeting their financial goals. So it doesn't matter what we do. They're going to take what they want. Since there are NO other public options...nothing we can do.
BGE sucks 100% I have waited over one hour on hold three times and have not talked to anyone.Any other business would have gone under by now except they are a monopoly and couldn't care less about their customers. If they cared they would spend money to hire more people.
BGE took 2 weeks to start my service, saying they need further verification. They don't care how one would survive without gas and electricity. They charge $20 application fee that I never heard of before. I lived in many metropolitan cities, never had this charge. You enroll in e-pay, they take 3 days to verify your bank details. I must say bunch of jokers and greedy people are running this utility company.
BGE cut off our power with no notice. When we called to find out why, they explained that the address had a large balance on it that had not been paid. We explained to them that we had moved in about a month ago and that the person who did not pay the bill no longer lived at the residence. BGE explained that an investigation had been opened on the residence and that the power could not be turned back on until the investigation had concluded, which would take a minimum of three business days. We have actively been paying our bill and they will not turn the power back on until the "investigation" is over. This is causing unnecessary hardship us. We are not able to do laundry or shower with warm water, and we had to throw out our entire fridge and freezer contents. We tried to explain to them that we are active duty military and I am pregnant! They obviously don't care about their customers and the hardship that they put onto them.
Absolute worse customer experience ever, even sadder I don't have power not even due the rain that happened. I am told my power is working fine from a woman on the line at a desk in a well conditioned office, while I am calling in on my cell phone to tell her the very opposite. How can you tell me my electricity is working fine when I am sitting in the dark! And then the only solution is that we need three business days to process the order that was placed two weeks ago. Amazingly crooked operation full of unskilled service people that read a script..... So sad this company has the entire market here, I have no choice but to deal with idiocy, complacency, and very poor service.
Anne Arundel County Police in Maryland using Smart Meter too target me and my wife with illegal surveillance, Destruction of property mainly our vehicle and Felony Stalking
This is the worst operation I ve ever had to deal with I ve been trying to change the name on my account for weeks now they put you on hold for hours and never answer. My last call was 58 min before I hung up again. They don t have a call back option. The DMV has a way better system than these jokers they need to get with the times or find someone who knows what their doing to clean house. They already have a low rating but nothing is being done.
BGE is a heartless price gouging corporation that charges people high rates and then expects them to cough up a large amount of money at one time to keep your lights on .Single moms, disabled people, sick children with asthma , who cares. They will not work with you either. Even if you try to pay or make payments, they still shut you off. They are a disgraceful company that have people over a barrel. And of course, they pick on the poor, who cannot defend themselves. Shameful treatment. I give them not even a 1.
I have been with BGE for almost four years now. I had an unjustified deposit charge of a 171$. The bill they sent had no explanation and after calling them, I still have no explanation aside from "its up to our discretion." How is that an appropriate business practice?
We were BGE customers in a previous house and our current house. I the previous house we had frequent outages due to overhead transmission lines. The crews were responsive and customer service was good. We were very pleased with time of use rates!! We have not been in our current house long, but are very happy with the srevice. We called several times to get average electric bills for potential houses. The customer service reps were fast and friendly. I just called on a street light that was out. Eventhough it wasnt on their street light map it was fixed witin a day. We've already been through a hurricane, tornado and several severe thunderstorms and only experienced a momentary loss of service. Keep up the good work!!
Tried to set up auto pay and four months later receive a cutoff notice. Great reliable teens working there handling finances... representing Baltimore to the t
Not only are they expensive and basically run a monopoly but they keep showing up on my street as early as 8:30 with power tools, this is the 3rd week in a row. You'd figure if they were any good they wouldn't need to come back and dig up the same hole twice...
Thank you!!!!! To the BGE crew that restored our power (due to a bad transformer) in the middle of the night, we appreciate your dedication and perseverance.
The worst! I only entered one star because the system will not allow me to enter zero. These poltroons simply refuse to answer te elephone or supply any information. You are directed to their useless website, which simply repeats "Still Investigating" and "Assessing Condition" for the past 18 hours with no action. Completely worthless. Meanwhile, the temperature in our home continues to fall.
I had a old bill from a old address but just got services turned on in my new apt. Bge never informed me that the service was never turned on in my name it was still in my landlords because of the old bill. So they cut my Bge off in my new home. I paid them 700 dollars to cut my service back on within 24 hours leaving a bill just under 100 dollars. They didn t get the payment fast enough so I m waiting from Friday till Tuesday to get service cut back in at my home. That s just not right. Someone should be able to get there service cut on Immediately after paying a bill. That s $1 billion company and they don t have a 24 hour service.
When you're a monopoly, it's quite easy to be a substandard company. Even if you change companies, these guys still deliver, so there's no way out. Probably the worst customer service I've dealt with ever. BGE charged me a certain amount based on the average use of the contractors (bought a new house). 8 months later, when I got a $300+ bill, they admitted they never even read the meter. They came and read the meter and found out I had paid almost $800 too much. I got credit but they forgot to keep billing me. After 1 year, I get a bill for $1000. I'm told that this happens all the time. Swell. I was on the payment plan for a bit, but on the 2 instances that I paid by phone (the website was down for maintenance for more than a day each time), the payments were late. The second time, it took 4 days to post. I argued with the woman in customer (dis)service and she told me that the bill was due on the 31st of the month (wrong, I'm holding the bill, it's due on the 1st, jackass). I paid on the 1st and got a confirmation number (I was in Texas, had to pay on phone only). She was argumentative and very rude. She was sure that the website was never down. Right, thanks IT manager. So, I had to pay my bill at once, which was $1100. A week before Christmas. F this company. Their bills should come with a bottle of lube.
Moved into our new house with my pregnant wife. Got a "turn over" service scheduled so we can have power. I was given a RIDICULOUS quote time of 8am-6pm. So I had to take off work last minute. I was told that the service guy will call me about 30min before he came over. He never called. I waited and waited. At 5:30pm I called BGE back only to find out that the guy called the wrong number! And I had verified the number the night before with the cust serv rep. I asked if the guy can come back tonight, even offered to pay extra. They said I would have to re-schedule. So, another day off work and more time without power, water, nothing. A week later, they finally got it right and called the right number. I opened the door and greeted the service tech. He went around the house and got the power turned on. The whole ordeal took 5 minutes from start to finish and he never even stepped into the house!
I live in a apt before i move here i NEVER had a high bill, this place use to be a whole house I have the basement level, my two neighbors box is in my apt mine not the wires not right I called bge they told me I have to call an outside company. I'm always up energy assistance & soon I get a 0 balance the next month is right back at 3 & 4 dollars & I was the only one here in a one bedroom & most of time I was at work. Be won't help but they want somebody to keep paying that high as electric bill.
As an individual who ran away from my mother's house aka the last known Location I've had love in my heart, I have been living in and out of vacant houses for the majority of my life, so once God blessed me with finding homeless housing I took the opportunity to use my gas and electric unwisely, I'm still trying to pay off my bill seeing as I don't have all of the money however with BGE's smart energy bill break down plan I'm able to fit the bills in my day to day life
Terrible management and userous rates. Avoid at all costs! When we opened our account we were informed there would be a deposit required even though we had an excellent credit rating and reference from prior power company for 27 years. Then we were promised the deposit would be returned to us in one year. At that anniversary, BGE informed us that because we had been "late for a payment" we could not get our deposit back for yet another year! The lateness was because of BGE's online payment service, no fault of ours.
It would be awesome if my power didn't go out for absolutely no reason while trying to do an online test for college but I guess that's too much to ask for in 2020.
Malcolm (or Malcom) was extremely helpful, sweet, and tentative to my questions and my request. As a first time homebuyer I dont know the entire process and thanked Mr.Malcolm with his quick and responsive customer service. Great customer service help!!
Looking for the worst company ever? Look no more. Bad customer service and worst policies. Bought a house couple month ago and called for an electricity hookup the week before the last and got an app 4 days later on Tuesday . We moved to Baltimore with a truck full of furniture assuming that we would have electricity that day. No one showed we went back to cleveland after unloading the truck and couple days after we called the ignorant company and they said we have electricity now. A week later yesterday my son left cleveland ( he is the one staying at the house) to find the house with no electricity. To make the story short we called again and again and now we have a list to fulfill for them to come and hook the stupid electricity. Bad service worst communication ! Horrible company! Trashy supervisers! Welcome to Baltimore! Ps: one star is a lot to give wish there were none as an option.
BGE needs to fire everyone that works for them. Straight trashy people working in customer service with attitudes! If you don't like your job or don't like talking to people, get another job or do what others do and apply for welfare!! Ugh
Very hard to talk to anybody, do not return calls and impossible to hold of anybody responsible. Technician do not respond. very frustrating to deal with BGE. Worse ever. No star
Well Deb C. I've never been a Customer of theirs and I am sick of them already I've never heard of being denied services because of a previous owner or tenant, then they wanted copy of property deed showing purchase as Care ucking birth cert sound like I am joining secret agency. I just got posses and took them receipts for duration of last address if that's not enough to prove I'm not connected to them then uck it solar panels and generator
I am giving Yvette from BGE Baltimore 5 stars. I had an actual horrible experience as a customer and she was an absolute Godsend this morning to me. Last week I started the transfer process to move across the street. The real estate company that I rented the apartment from Dudley Pro did not have the electric on when it was time for me to move and made sure to tell me to transfer once I moved. I set up everything online and then recieved and email. See Dudley pro had put in for the electric to be on for me at the same time I put my notice in online. The account was flagged and I had to submit ID, Lease, Social security info, which I did. It has taken over 10 days and still NO electric. I had taken all my vacation days to move apartments, I had to throw everything out from refridgerator and freezer and I had to pay a hotel to stay because it is a code red heat wave and I had to cancel cable appointments. I as of last night monday the July 3rd still had no electric and had been trying since June 22. I got 2 different emails this morning saying your confirmation from June 22 start has been confirmed and then a second email directly after saying your start service for July 6 has been confirmed. I called confused with lost hope , no money left for a hotel and begging . Mrs. Yvette from Baltimore BGE was the most helpful out of everyone. she listened, took time, reached out to dispach and within and hour she was able to have the electric on in my new apartment. I can now begin living in my new apartment and start putting all the boxes away. This whole process was a nightmare and Yvette was my light at the end of the tunnel. The world needs more Yvette's in it. Words cannot express my gratitute to this lovely lady . My day began with tears of frustration to now having a sense of relief. God Bless Yvette and I hope she has the most amazing 4th of July Holiday. Please make sure she gets this review. I am very thankful for her service to finally have someone help me. Thank you Allyson
If I could give a zero, I would. Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) is another conglomerate that has dominated our communities into black mailing prices with unprofessional workers. Corrupted politicians probably have investments in this company too. Even workers have complained that BGE's work environment is ground zero. That is why they hire trashy people.
Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) is also business killer and job killer. Last week due to no payment Jeff from BGE came to my business disconnect the power while customer was eating. We were force to tell the customer that they have ten minutes otherwise there won't be any power. I have requested BGE that I have spoke with BGE and I got grace period till November 10, 2016 but the person came was very rude and unprofessional telling me that there is no record I called and I have ten minutes to pay or else he have to cut the operation of my restaurant. I understand I owe money and trying my best to pay them off. He wanted money on the spot that kind of person work for BGE. Now my business is close not making any money. But now BGE Executive is having cocktail and champagne how much profit they are going make end of the year by killing businesses and jobs in Maryland. I hope Governor Hogan office is aware of it what is going in the grass root level for struggling businesses in Maryland. I wonder what BGE do with the fuel fund for poor or force to take advance from small business for three months (in my case).
Look up free energy Nikola Tesla. He had a way to create free wireless for electricity for all of us. When Nikola Telsa presented this invention to Thomas Edison and JP Morgan they stole his invention and said why give it for free when we can charge people for it. We all can have free electricity that was given to us from The Most High so why should we have to pay for natural resources from earth and GOD. These ppl trying to keep us enslaved work work work pay bills and that's it. I cant wait when judgement day come and wipe all this wickedness from the earth GOD bless. please research they keeping us distracted and seperated through, race, religion, money etc.. We have to come together and fight for humanity. Please wake up! Nikola Tesla dreamed of creating a way to supply power to the world without stringing wires across the globe. The inventor came close to accomplishing this when his "mad scientist" experiments with electricity led to his creation of the Tesla coil. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TURN THE DAMM (TELEVISION) TELL A LIE TO THE VISION OFF! AND RESEARCH! THESE WICKED DEVILS JUDGEMENT IS COMING SOON!
Wish I could give them less stars. Quite literally the worst company I've dealt with in recent memory They were content to let us sit in a heat wave with no power for 4 days, despite the ability to turn power off and on remotely
Their new phone system doesn't even allow you to reach a live person. If you press "0" it will say invalid option and disconnect you. I never had this problem with PEPCO.
The power is ALWAYS going out in our community; one would think close proximity to a military base would actually be a plus, but who cares no competition right? BGE charges an arm and both legs for substandard service. For these prices, a generator should be given to each household since they can't manage to keep the lights on!
If I could have chosen zero stars I would have. The customer service people are nasty. I called july 5th because a storm blew down my fence and ripped my meter off. No one came out to fix it. I called a total of 4 times between July 5th and September 10th. Finally on September 16th someone came out to fix it. They attacted the metter but told me it was my responsibility to get someone to put clamps on the house to connect the their cable to my house. So now I have a huge cable flapping in the wind and I have to fix it. I feel the worker was lazy and sid not want to climb a ladder to do it.
Its freezing cold outside and o have 3 little boys to take care of and they shut our power off these people are very inconsiderate. Its thanksgiving week and while they eating and enjoying me and the kids will be cold with no warm food to eat.I cant wait to own my own home one day because when i do buy one its gonna have solar pannel roofs so o dont have to depend on these scams
Had BGE at my house for years fell behind on payments got turned off they charged me a 600.00 refundable deposit sold my home turned off the power received a final bill I had a negative bill of 550.00 the women told me I would get the money back on the phone and transferred the call the next women in billing this women said I'm not seeing what the actual amount is I said the first women found it. They have done this before at 2810 Rosalie Ave it took years to mail back the refund people move USPS forwards for a year it's free money for them.
BGE is hungry for your money. They do not care when you are hungry to have their assistance. They will charge $20 for the new account or the old account plus will charge you over $7 for customer service or something like that FOR EVERY MONTH????? Beware, they will not help you on the phone at all and they will keeping transfers you over and over until you give up on them. I can tell that they did trained well. I wish I can give a zero star for their shyt service.
I lived all over the place, and I've had to use a lot of different companies for utilities. This is the first place to send me my monthly bill as a threatening turn-off notice.
I very much resent the way that BGE charges me a dollar and a half as a convenience fee when I pay my bill online. They save the money of printing a bill and they save the money of the postage they don't have to send somebody to the post office to drop it off. I go online and I pay the bill and they charge me extra because I'm saving them money. These people are freaking Crooks. I hope that is significant number of the senior Executives end up in prison like the Enron people. They increase the cost of my bill by more than 10%. It's just not right.
There is no way that I can describe the way I loathe this company. Awful customer service, ridiculous fees, astronomical prices. You speak with 3 different people, you hear 3 different things. They need to get it together! Terrible, terrible company.
Zero stars....seriously I just moved and had to pay an application fee for service I ve had for 8 years?! $20 for them to run my credit apparently even though I ve never had a late payment. On top of that they charged me double customer charges of over $20 because there was 5 days of service on a partial bill at my old residence. Sounds like they are doing that to scam more money out of customers.
Had an awful experience with BGE in Baltimore recently, in which I had to stay home the entire day for a technician to come out and do some schedule work. There was no specific time given - the tech would arrive between 8am and 6pm, forcing me to take the entire day off and wait. The tech never showed up, even though I called in the early afternoon to check on his progress. The next day, we called BGE and they said that in the notes for that day it was written that the tech arrived around 3pm but no one was home (I was sitting on the couch all day), there was no access to the backyard (there's a salleyport/alley between my house and my neighbors), and the tech tried to call the number we gave them but it was disconnected (we were calling them from that exact number). So, basically they lied three times to cover for a terrible performance. Now, tomorrow, I have to take the entire day off again because supposedly this time someone will show up and take care of this business I've been waiting months to get done. Based on my hourly rate at work, taking two days off, I'd say BGE owes me about $1000 for my time. The work they do tomorrow better be worth a grand.
I hate BGE as well. Bills come with 'immediate shut-off notices' at the drop of a hat. Least resilient power grid I have ever experienced. More power outages and glitches here than when I was living in New England. Poor (or commonly zero) updates on restoration. BGE needs to get their act together, IMO.
