Bacon Brothers Public House Review

UPDATE: We took a year off after writing the review below, and kept hearing our friends rave about Bacon Bros. We went back for the second time about two months ago, and have been back two more times. One of our favorite restaurants in the Upstate now! //// Blah. Honestly, they are trying REALLY hard to be amazing. They are farm to table, they bring your knives over in a cigar box, and they are a la carte as my burger was just the burger, nothing else. The Burger (its name) fine, nothing special, even though it sounded amazing in print. My wife's bratwurst only slightly above average, but factoring in the price only drops the rating further. Now, let's talk drinks. This is a public house, with a menu that prides itself on a 50 mile radius, yet their draft list consists of Bud Light, PBR, and Sierra Nevada??? OK, you can get two Quest (great local brewery) on tap, but Thomas Creek (brewery 10 miles away) comes in a $5.50 bottle??? This place needs to be 90% craft brews, or have more than 6-7 taps in order to survive. Speaking of survival, it has a chance, but they have some serious work ahead of them. Yeah, they the talk of the town now because they are new, but theyll only ride that wave for so long.

Make sure you try the deviled eggs. And everything else on their menu! They smoke their own meat in house; some of the best southern BBQ I've ever had.

Great place to have a beer and American food. Not a big menu and but quite a few selection on alcohol. Nice place for happy hour gathering.

Bacon Bros was a tasty meal but I would expect the meat to be the star of the show. The real star was the Pimento Cheese and Bacon Jam Appetizer with house made saltines. From someone who really loves bbq I expected the ribs to fall off the bone, unfortunately they did not. Overall great service and dinning experience.

This is a hidden gem that could be lost among the strip mall feel outside but come inside and you'll find warm decor that invites you to stick around. The food is delicious; like this devilled eggs I had with a dusting of Carolina Reaper powder. A full bar with lots of whiskies and Bourbons to top it all off!

My wife and I went here for the first time, during restaurant week. We chose to go with the set menu, and everything was fantastic! Many of the dishes seemed like they would be hard to make taste good, but they found a way to pull it off. It was pricey, but worth it

After much anticipation, what a HUGE letdown. The service was great, but that was all. I ordered St. Louis ribs. They were the driest, most tasteless ribs I have ever eaten. Bone dry, probably been setting around for hours. Terrible! Fries not much better. My friend had brisket, loaded with fat. Terrible food. Wouldn't go back if it were free!

Great draft beer selection. Try the mixed meat and cheese board. Fabulous.

I Absolutely love this place! Its the best bbq in the upstate in my opinion. Everything that comes from this kitchen is made in house there's no freezer here. The decor in the dinning room sets the mood, it's got that homey feeling and you feel welcome right from the start.They have a excellent bartender and she knows her stuff, with a wide variety of whiskeys and bourbons to satisfy any taste bud.I highly recommend this place you'll come back for more trust me!

Food and atmosphere are out of this world! Great guys night out kind of place.

We called ahead, made reservations for 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. No wait, great start. Unfortunately, the dining experience went down hill from there. The appetizer was delicious but when requesting a paired cocktail, our waiter was clueless. Alright...we came for ribs and pulled pork shoulder (their specialty) they were out of both and the next 2 requests we made. Our waiter suggests brisket. I am not thrilled but we order it anyway. Out came our food. Obviously the last brisket of the evening because it was disgusting. Overcooked beyond words..perhaps cardboard describes it best. It was, without a doubt, the driest piece of meat I have ever tried to eat. My husband ate some of his but could not finish it. The sides were lukewarm at best. I felt sorry for the waiter because it wasn t his fault and we did tip him over 20%. But the meal was $140.00 before tip. NEVER AGAIN. I will say, the Bottle of Malbec was fantastic. It s a drag they charged us $55.00 and the wine list price was $40. We were looking for a restaurant we could put into the rotation. Very unfortunate experience.

I only go here to treat myself or friends and family... love it..

It was just OK, not great. Very dry ribs with very little meat on them. Our cats did enjoy chewing the bones of the pricey three orders we brought home. We don't plan to go back to Bacon Brothers again.

One word people, mmmmmmmmm. Gets busy on Friday and Saturday night.

The food here was very good. We did have cold mac n cheese but they replaced it with fresh ones. Overall pretty good. The deviled eggs are a must. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.

This place quickly rose to first tier acclaim. Hope it doesn't dissapoint tonight.

Don't let the name fool you - there are very few menu items containing bacon. The food was good and drink selection was typical. Service was very good.

Haven't ate there yet, but I've delivered firewood to them for parties and their firepits. Great folks and the smells from outside.....well speak for themselves.

Had the $12 burger. Not impressed. Was salty and dry. Came with a small portion of their chips. Now a friend had the sampler. It looked great was a lot of meat but also was $27. Great friendly waitress. Ended up over $30 for two burgers and chips with ice water well no ice and gratuity automatically added. Not a very good meal or portions for $30.

Fried pickles, deviled eggs, beef brisket, beer battered onion rings...great service. Amazing place. I will definitely be back to this place. The food didnt take any longer thank any other sit down restaurant. Their menu isn't huge but then they concentrate on what they do best.

So glad we stopped here for lunch. I have eaten a lot of burgers, and this by far was one of the best (if not THE best). The addition of bacon and brisket into the party adds such a unique flavor, and was super juicy. I skipped the fries and upgraded to the side salad, and it was perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Best lima bean ever! Great service. My party was talking about wanting to come back while we were still eating.

The food was amazing. I would suggest this place flavorful and tender brisket. Both of the sauces was great but I enjoyed the brisket without either. I will be going back.

I don t know if there was an issue with the bartender or what, but I won t be back here, mainly because the bartender REFUSED to serve my family. I was seated on the patio and My server instructed me happy hour was only at the bar. I was going to leave, as I had my 2 year old with me, but he instructed to go to the bar and order a beer if I wanted to enjoy happy hour and it would be no problem with me ordering and starting a tab at the bar and sitting outside. However the bartender argued with me and rudely took my menu away and stated it was against the law . What specifically, I don t know, but I have never heard of a law preventing people from ordering at the bar, and drinking on the premises. And if I am still able to order alcohol while seated on the patio, how is it against the law to order at the bar but sit at another seat? The only thing affected would be price. I m a bar manager and if I have a guest that wants to order a beer but sit on the patio, that is no problem. I feel I may have been discriminated against, however, I won t be back to find out, neither should you.

We've been here multiple times and tried just about everything on the menu. Everything is excellent! My only wish is that they start adding some new items so we can keep mixing it up. But that bacon jam pimento cheese jar....Mmmmm... That stuff is like crack! Once you try it, you'll be hooked.

Oh my .......!! First time here and it was amazing! Scotty took great care of me and was wonderfully informative and patient with explaining the menu! Wonderful food, good portions, outstanding flavor! Get the pimento cheese and bacon jam!

Recommended here by a local. A really great place to eat. One of the best Buffalo chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I'll definitely go here again the next time I visit Greenville.

Amazing food! Farm to table so the menu changes frequently. Smoked and aged meats. Soooo good! Great brew selection as well.

Ecstatic - and I mean the food is, for anyone with two thumbs and a tongue, an almost spiritual experience. The BET, BBQ grilled cheese, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate chess pie were an unrelenting onslaught of beautiful flavor. Balanced, nuanced, subtle, and bold, in turn, each plate was a work of art. Presentation was flawless and the service was impeccable. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual. If you live within driving distance, you need to visit this restaurant as soon as possible. You will not regret it.

Despite the location in a strip-mall, this is a top-notch restaurant. I had ribs, and my wife had brisket, both of which were cooked to perfection. The sides are what really exceeded expectations there was an eggplant-peanut dish that was astoundingly good, and the grits were also excellent. Highly recommended.

A simply amazing place, took 30 min to get a seat. Had this sandwich and it was out of this world. Duck egg was a perfect topping. Their whiskey collection is nothing short of perfection. I honestly rank this sandwich #2 in 18 years of world travel. The mitchers single barrel is also stunning . Please congratulate your chief and staff.

Mediocre food that is uninspired and overpriced. Don't waste your time or money. They have paid for 5 star reviews, the current review score is laughable.

My daughter and I were promptly seated, the gentleman who served as our 'water server' was johnny on the spot....that's where this review ends. Twenty minutes later we left without having spoken or making eye contact with any other employees. Please note, Bacon Bros. was NOT busy. We were seated in the center of the dining room with only one other couple that was seated after us and they didn't receive any attention either.
We haven't eaten here since the big 're-opening' last year and sadly, I don't think that we will return. Perhaps too much attention is given to social media output and not enough to customer service.

This place is not all that great. I went here on the advice of a friend who praised it, but it fell VERY short, and I am a person who appreciates great restaurants and quality food. I agree with the other comment about how they are trying too hard to be great. I had the smoked chicken, and honestly I've had better, and it didn't taste like it had been slow smoked, and didn't have a good smoked flavor all the way through. The beans and franks on the side had a good taste, but you will need your bifocals to actually find the franks, which are cut up very fine, if any at all. I really wanted to try the Catfish, but was not interested in having the country ham that the menu explained came with it, and was told I could not make substitutions...and to further aggravate things, the server was not the best. I know with a name like "Bacon", you can't expect all healthy options, but this place is just not customer service friendly with accomodating your order...Won't be going back, but if you love bacon, ham, smoked jowl, and ALL things Pork...Maybe it is for you!!

We went late on a Thursday about an hour before closing. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was inviting. This was a recommendation by a friend and it didn't disappoint. I love BBQ and all that comes with it. We are from out of town and I always seek out the best que spots along the way. Bacon brothers delivered the goods. I got the sampler plate. I found the ribs to be the best and I am not a rib guy. Most places are dry and not much meat. Not at Bacon Bros. Maybe the best ribs I've had anywhere in NC or SC and smoked immaculately. Brisket, pulled pork, and sausage were spot on. I also got the beans and collards. Both were excellent especially the brisket beans. Tons of flavor and well balanced. We also ordered the wings. I loved the sauce and smokiness of them. They had both mustard based and tomato based sauces. I prefer tomato but the mustard base was very well done. You can choose your sauce. My only regret is not getting charcuterie. Their selection looked amazing. Next time I go back I will get it. All around this is what you want in a great BBQ spot. Don't hesitate to stop at Bacon Brothers. You will leave satisfied.

Loud, very expensive... but it would be okay for a "friend" gathering. It was just a little much for the old folks in our family. The food was pretty good

Great experience from the service, to the menu options, to the food quality and taste. They have a really nice atmosphere, decor, ambience inside. The fish and chips was delicious, as was the appetizer... some kind of pimento cheese dip with cranberries (see pic) . I will definitely return. My lunch mate was equally impressed with the place.

An amazing restaurant. I always end of getting the charcuterie board. Fantastic service. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Everything is made in house, and they certainly know their way around a pig.

It's a cozy place! And the food was weird it was definitely well thought out and looked awesome buuuut the meat board we got came with Burt bread and my sandwich came without the Sauce that it was supposed to have according to the menu. Other than that the service was friendly.

They have PUMPERNICKEL bread! Our server, Megan, is sweet and kind and total A Game. Tasty food

It would be in your best interest to stop in a have some food and drink here. It's all well done.

I have yet to have a bad order from the ever evolving menu over about 4-5 years. Prices match the quality of the food and the specials are worthy of the title.

Food was good, Atmosphere was not what I expected. Was expecting something more rustic.

The food was fine, getting seats without a reservation takes forever, the food is overpriced for what you get (most sides are extra and not included).
Worth a try once and then decide if you want to come back

Visited with 2 workmates and received 1st class service, menu is mainly a selection of barbeque meats I have some of the best ribs I have ever had. Portions were generous to say the least and the half rack was more than enough for those tempted to go for the full rack good luck

The food is good but the prices are outrageous, $16 for a cheeseburger entree,way too high.

Went as part of a party of six and everything we had was amazing! Their gluten-free buns were amazing. Great atmosphere and our server was knowledgeable and friendly.

Forget any review under 5 stars. If you don't enjoy the quality of food and atmosphere here then your most basic pleasure receptors are broken. Cool people, great biscuits, cheap and awsome deviled eggs, and the pulled pork grilled cheese is a great original. Some people complain about a 12 dollar burger but those are the same that wine about the quality of Wendy's sandwiches. Josh was my server great job bacon bros.

Great Reuben sandwich and the bartender Eli was friendly.

Food was great. Very busy place. Large groups may have a problem here. Try shrimp n grits!
