Here is my experience. 2013

Here is my experience. 2013
For several years I got my HRT from this pharmacy. This summer I had hot flashes day and night. In September I was retested by my doctor who said I had no estrogen in my system which means the cream I was taking was no good asI took it correctly and regularly every day.
I took the container back and asked for a refund which doesn't seem like a big deal but it was. The local office could not help me. I wrote to the national company who ignored me. I called the national company who routed my call 25 miles from my house but at least he was helpful. About 10 phone calls later I was still playing telephone tag with people. A man named from my local pharmacy named Jason returned my call and left a message to call him. When I returned his call at the phone number left on my machine he denied knowing anything about this situation.
So...... the bottom line is...... if you want to deal with a company that does business like this- go ahead. Me- I moved my prescription to another pharmacy and in 6 hours I felt normal again.
The problem with compounding pharmacies is you are dealing with people- some of whom are more competent than others.

The mail order side of their business is horrible. I turned in a prescription Thursday afternoon and called Friday morning to reiterate my medication runs out Friday night and needed it refilled and delivered by close of business. No problem they said so nothing delivered Friday as promised. I called Saturday morning to see what happened and was told they don't do same day delivery but will call later that day to setup a delivery time. 1pm rolls around and no one has called so I call them. They are closed. I call first thing Monday morning and was told if no one has called to setup a delivery time by 1pm to call. No one called so I call them again. Was told they would deliver by the end of the day. I hung up and 20 minutes later I get a call from the same person I had been talking to stating they were out of my medication and hoped they would have it today (Tuesday) by 1pm and to call back. I called and was told they have the medication and after me raising holy hell they would deliver it today (same day). It is now 5pm and nothing. Keep in mind this is my 4th full day without much needed medication.

Very nice, patient (because they are always busy) and informative Pharmacists! I wish they were closer to my house, had a drive-thru and the ability to refill online but I think Excellent Customer Service trumps all that. Thank you!

Ive actually been very pleased with Avella. Im not really a pharmacy connoisseur but of the medications I've picked up there all have been less than the Walmart or Walgreens, even my insurance direct mail costs more. They've been extremely courteous and although I miss the courier service Im still excited to keep them as my go to!

First, there's no way to leave a message. You have to stay on hold to wait for a person to get on the line. Compounded meds: I was told they'd be ready, went there. The order wasn't there. Get it a week later. When I realize the product isn't compounded to the strength it should be and I have 81 caps of one and 63 of the other and there's no customer accommodation. Lame.

They lost my prescription, didn't bother to call me and let me know they couldn't fill one, and even called me while I was waiting in the lobby ( for the prescription I handed them 10 minutes before) to tell me they had a prescription there for me and wanted to know if I wanted it mailed or if I would pick it up.

I am a long-time customer of Avella, and regrettably , I am forced to give this 1-star review for the Scottsdale location. The compounded prescriptions are high-quality but completely inaccessible thanks to systemic ineptitude in their follow-up service on refills.
On 3 separate occasions (refills 6-months apart), Avella~Scottsdale's order system & service staff have failed to responsibly follow-up on their side of fax'd requests to doctors and/or adequate compounding staffing. This led to prescriptions being held up for nearly a month, requiring a client to suffer through weeks of reduced or no proper levels of prescribed medications.
My most recent disappointment has forced me to go for 3 weeks without my prescribed medication - due to their inability to discern that they had the completely wrong fax number for my physician's office.
Despite repeated pleas for them to follow up in order to locate the reason for the pharmacy-to-physician disconnect (as my compounded medicine was running out, I had learned to start this ordering process early, thanks to their previous non-fulfillment occasions), Avella's staff consistently handed off blame, without resolving the situation.
When they finally admitted their system was at fault, they still put my already 2-week delayed compounding prescription behind others - and forced me to wait a full week more to "get around to it" thanks for short-staffing in their scheduled on-site compounding pharmacists.
Even their non-retail Deer Valley lab was unable to assist. And since they are closed on weekends and holidays, waiting clients have no choice but to suffer in silence for them to process their prescriptive duties.
My strong advice: seek another compounding pharmacy at all costs. You are guaranteed only physical discomfort and repeated disappointment if you come here as a client.

Horrible, horrible customer service. They seem to never return phone calls and you would have more success in reaching Oprah Winfrey on the telephone than anyone at this location actually answering the phone or attending to customers in a timely and professional manner. I use to go to this pharmacy for my compounding needs and was generally satisfied. I don't know what in the world has happened. My internist's office faxed my prescription twice and waited on the phone for 45 minutes after learning that I had not received any communication from this location as well. i tried about 5 times and waited enormous amounts of time and have never received a return phone call from them nor has anyone ever answered a phone to discuss this prescription request with me. There are plenty of OTHER COMPOUNDING PHARMACIES in PHOENIX metro area and I would suggest you steer clear of this location and pick another pharmacy altogether. I'm done with AVELLA. DONE!

I called this pharmacy with a crazy story!!! My sister is in Malaysia and awaiting her donor who in Arizona to gets meds to donate her eggs, so my sister could have a baby. This pharmacy went UP and beyond the call of duty. I just got a text from the owner at 8 pm my time ( Texas) to check and make sure all came out OK! I have NEVER had any pharmacy have such caring and concerned staff at which RETURN calls and are ready to help!!! We were having issues getting the AZ MD to reperscribe meds that a Malaysian Dr. Had needed the donor on. I am thankful to Jeffrey Karp. You have a heart of gold. Thanks for caring. You don't know how rare that can be In your profession. ( Speaking as a Dr.'s wife I know!)

Completely unprofessional and unreliable. They made multiple mistakes filling my prescription, then decided they would rather throw away my prescription than fix their mistakes, right in front of me.

With all of the compounding options in the Phoenix area, there is no reason to waste your time or money with this embarrassingly unprofessional pharmacy. They cannot be trusted or relied on, and in the pharmaceutical industry, those are terminal failings.

Wife has been waiting for three weeks for a prior authorization, on a medication that is vital to her health. She now has been without her medication for a month. Michelle borsch, is the supervisor of the department that my wife has to deal with. (inflammation auto immune disease, and infectious disease) as you can see by the department name, it s an important medication. This woman dropping the ball like this (for the third time) shows she is lacking in her work performance, or just doesn t care. A person like this should not be in charge of anything past a janitorial position (and definitely not at a pharmacy at all!!)
This is not a person that does reviews, however, messing with my family is not okay. This needs to be rectified ASAP. A check and balance system that can hold the responsible parties accountable would be a good start as well.

Feel free to post a phone number that can get me above the above named parties head so we can move forward. Next step, I ll be in the lobby tomorrow morning (you guys are located down the street from me on 19th ave) to speak to HR.

**Edit**
Calling my wife 6 min before you re walking out the door Michelle, is not a good way to do business. As you know, we all have careers that require our time. To be honest, just do the prior authorization as is your departments job, and we can get that vital medication that much faster.
Seriously unbelievable that you manage a department and have the order of things this far out of even functioning. Some day you will require something and you re unfortunately going to receive this exact level of customer service.

A very fine appearance and very satisfactory when picking up the prescription. However, the response time is very bad and the two times I attempted to use them, I dealt with a chap named David who always provided an excuse to why they could not perform...So , I transfered ;my prescription to another pharmacy who had better customer service.. If you have ample time, I am certain this pharmacy will be fine.
