I loved visiting the Auckland Zoo. It was first visit and I liked it very much

Some of the enclosures are too small. Good to see some upgrades happening. Looking forward to the new exhibits.

Great visit today - very hot so some animals not making an appearance. However, those that were about were amazing and keepers had the stories! Thank you! We are now proud Friends of the Zoo! Thank you!

Great day at Auckland Zoo! The new attractions for tigers and the orangutans promise to be an amazing addition too. It was very busy due to it being school holidays but I would recommend staying for the last few hours of the day as it really emptied out and I had many of the exhibits to myself.

Great zoo with lots of interesting animals (don't miss out on the Kiwi-habitat). Great, affordable food and overall a very friendly atmosphere.

Great selection of animals, and good info about their habitats and ecological challenges

Very good entertainment place not for only children but all.

Great place for a family day trip. Red pandas are a must see

Park enormously well done, you see animals from different continents. Currently being enlarged but does not in any way hinder the visit. Kids area also my 4 year old son loved it

Although I bought an annual ticket, I feel a lot smaller because of the decoration inside.

Beautiful zoo, no boring enclosures and every animal can enjoy their surroundings.

Went to the Auckland Zoo Open Lates and it was nice, people were very accommodating even during evening time.

Auckland zoo has an event where you can visit the zoo from 5-8 pm every Thursday towards the end of summer. I'm not sure if they have Open Lates every end of summer every year but I'm so happy to have visited the zoo at a later time.

The animals were still around and there's even a full schedule for the close encounters.

Kiwi, this place is relatively large, relatively clear, and it is comfortable to sit on a stool!

Awesome time with kids there, plenty of animals to see in an environment quite respectful of their nature.
Plus the Auckland zoo always makes changes, improvements and new experiences.

Good sized zoo. They could do with keeping their signage up to date as a lot of people walked down a path to see the hippopotamus which has sadly passed away. The staff are friendly and the animals look well cared for and enjoying the sunshine.

A few enclosures empty as they are redoing them. Couldn't see quite a few animals, but still a great day out.

It was my first time when i saw a lot of red pandas here. Super cute..

It's been a long time since we last visited this zoo, and it's still great as always. Make sure to come on the right weather though :)

Great place for kids and adults alike. Had a perfect date here. Would recommend to anyone.

I love Auckland Zoo. It's a fabulous day out for old and young. Lots of animals, the enclosures are modern and animal friendly, yummy food and friendly staff.

Elephant talk was amazing, keepers friendly and informative. Bird enclosures could have been better. Plenty of new exciting things coming. These guys are single use plastic free so be prepared re water.

The entire Africa area is currently not open due to renovation work

Had a wholeday of fun in here. Decent amount of different animals to see. Buy tickets online for cheaper prices. Also before you go, plan your day. Check at what times zookeepers talks will be. You will be able to see the animals more closely and how they are fed and being petted during these talks. We managed to watch seal, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, tiger, blue and gold macaw, Kea and elephant during the talks. Also go see the bugslab when it's back. It's not only for children.

I visited the zoo with my children, planning a single picnic on the spot it takes a day to go around.
I also recommend taking public transport to get there because it is very crowded.

Was so nice to visit a Zoo that looks so good after their animals. Will go again for sure !!

Construction underway, hopefully will be a massive improvement once finished. Not enough parking.

Quite a few enclosures with no animals in them. And its expensive.

Nice zoo, where you can see kiwis. He is relatively expensive but still in the frame.

Went there for the kiwis. Not quite as big as some zoos in the states but the New Zealand local section is worth the visit. There was a lot of construction going on so some of the exhibits were closed.

Perfect family outing. Will look to get the yearly pass so we can go more regularly. The cafe by the old elephant house is amazing considering they have a captive audience with no other choices.

Good day out for the family. Pack a lunch, foods expensive.

Place is under renovations (which is fine) but we weren t told at the gate after paying full price too. We were telling our 2 year old about all the animals she would see and we didn t even see half of them. Was really dissatisfied and disappointed to be honest.

Auckland Zoo indeed a lovely place ti escape from the city.
Had some amazing times volunteering to help prepare the new Lion enclosure. Staff is extremly froendly and helpful and animals look well looked after.
Will be back.

This zoo is fantastic! They are doing a huge upgrade to exhibits atm so I wouldn't suggest buying an annual zoo pass until it's completed

The zoo is being renovated and you cant see most of the animals it should be free till this is sorted out

A great place for a walk. I visit regularly and have a yearly pass.

Surprising quite big zoo with good animal collection. Always have great times whenever I visited this place. It's better to allocate the whole day and come early in the day so you won't be in the queue for too long, especially when you're going during the school holiday period.

Visited the zoo on the 21st November with our Kohanga group.
I had been there several times and every time, there's new attractions.
The animal enclosures have just improved so much.....very amusing for everyone and tamariki had an awesome day.

Get a yearly pass. It is worth it! Good variety of animals about. Had heaps of fun.

We enjoy the zoo everytime. Even with the construction. Toddler loves watching diggers as well as animals. Great that there are blocks again in kids zone. Not impressed that the coffee seems to have shrunk with the new cups.

I went to the Auckland Zoo on my last day in NZ. I had gone to the mall and bought a few things non-touristy, and I had some extra time on my hands so I went to the zoo. It was great! There is this one bird exhibit, and I was reading a sign about a specific bird that was known to sit and perch on the railing nearby. I turned to my left, and there it was, about 1.5 feet away from my face. It kind of scared me, but it was really cool! It was huge!

For only NZ $ 24, there are kiwis and much more. Good big enclosures

World class museum with great exhibits and knowledgeable staff who can provide detailed explanations of local wildlife. Must see for those looking to learn more about New Zealands's unique wildlife.

Very nice day out but sad there were lots if sections closed.

Really nice and beautiful Zoo. I'm visiting the Zoo every two weeks with a 2year old and he loves it! It's also built the way so you can decide yourself what animals to look at and you are not forced to look at all the animals (which is very comfortable when visiting with small children). I also really like the fact, that all the animals from one country / continent are in the same corner.
