Great location for the kids, with multiple areas covering African animals, New Zealand natives, a kiwi house, a children's centre and playground, and multiple cafes (both inside and outside the zoo). If you're keen for ice-cream, you can buy many flavours by the scoop at the stand in the zoo. A great focus of sustainability and education for the kids.
This was a surprisingly great zoo to visit. Great exhibits and all of the animals looked well looked after. The kiwi exhibit is great, especially the keeper talk and is highly recommended
Really well taken care of, animals seemed happy and engaged with their exhibits
Love Auckland Zoo. Best part seeing the giraffes and elephants. Just need remember to wear good walking shoes as there will be ALOT of walking to cover the whole zoo.
We find not many animals are easy to see. The Asian area is being renovated so had to go a long way to get to some areas - price was reduced because of this so pretty fair. There are a lot of people and parking in second carpark up road was also pretty full. Hamilton zoo is much better and easier to see animals.
Always a good time at our Zoo. Maybe with all the construction going on price could be a little cheaper. Less to see.
Great for everyone. I particularly like the Australian section of the zoo and the new additions they are making around the place to make it better.
Great for young children and families. Highly recommend the yearly pass.
Auckland Zoo is Awesome. We so enjoy our day there. It's a must go.
I was mainly visiting Auckland Zoo because I didn't want to leave New Zealand without having seen a real Kiwi. However the terrarium where they are supposed to be is that dark that you would need a night vision device for finding any Animals there. Even if they don't really have Kiwis probably nobody would notice.
The rest of the zoo is nothing special. You can see lots of animals there like in every other one. The only thing of interest were the Orangutans who just had their fun together.
Fantastic! Definitely a highlight place to visit ! With new and improved structures going up all the time, so never a dull moment and great places everywhere where you can pop down and enjoy the nature and the animals in the surrounding.
Great site and very difficult to fully explore in a single day. Make sure you take a hat and sun-screen!
You can watch it leisurely, but you can experience discomfort because there are not many animals in the center construction
Always a good family outing. Very well maintained zoo.
We did the red panda experience. The woman who took us was very enthusiastic and full of knowledge, she was a pleasure to have as a guide! The rest of the zoo is tidy, and the enclosures see clean and spacious. It's just a shame we didn't have more time to look around.
I ADORE Auckland zoo. I am of course a member and I go often by myself. When my nieces are in town we have a blast. I find spending time with Elvis and Matilda very restful. I adore Burma and Angelee and love talking to them. Burma has been at that zoo since I was 3 and as long as I can remember. I practice mindfulness with the alligators and down on lizard lane. Distract myself from life s problems watching the sweet meerkats stand there guard. And get mesmerised by the fabulous seals. Everyone that works and volunteers at the Zoo genuinely care about the animals. I love that the renovations are all about what s best for the animals. Truly we are so blessed to have such rich beauty at our door. Thank you all who make that place a wonderful treasure of Auckland. I m so proud.
Awesome place to visit if you looking for a fun day out weather by your self or family those animals are sure to make you happy and they friendly staff, along with their security they have there very nice.
Avoid the line on busy days and buy tickets online, was way quicker.
Amazing... and looking forward to the new renovations being finished
Fun place to take the family and explore the animals in the park
Great!!!!
A wonderful, compact and beautifully kept zoo where the animals are very well taken care of. We love learning about the native NZ wildlife there especially.
my 'go to happy place with my kids. annual pass very worthwhile. coffee a bit pricey for the size but otherwise great xx
I would recommend visiting the place very, very cool
Could spend the whole day here. It's getting a lot busier, with people lining up at the door for opening time. Lovely food, lots of nice areas to sit.
Renovations and Australian bird talk never happened otherwise it an amazing place to spend your day
Amazing place to spend a day. Animals looked very happy and well looked after too. Very excited to see the new parts building up which will even open more space for animals and bring more people in to enjoy the zoo. I have to say the volunteers were doing fantastic job giving info on directions and about animals. Great place will be back again for sure.
pretty great place to visit prices seem to reflect the animals on show. we understood as a few attractions were ssdly not there but signage was up explaining. did not ruin out experience at all. p.s DONT MISS BUG LAB!
This place is so nice!!
Also you can see KIWIs!
Recommendation for everyone!
Great family day out. Well set out. Reasonably priced food. Lots of places for children to play.
A good family day out.
Loved the elephants.
Pretty awesome. I liked the walk about. Wish I could see more.
Always a nice day out. It's worth getting a membership for families, especially because then you don't feel like you have to see everything at once. The cafes are not bad, though still a little pricey considering the entry fee already paid.
Such an amazing experience! So many animals to see. Loved the birds!
Special place for me. I love animals & eat chips when we take a rest.
great experience in Auckland zoo. keepers knows the job so much. friendly too. thank you so much for making our trip worth a visit.
Amazing place to visit with family and kids. Very well maintained, clean and beautiful. Lots of animals and birds. It has two cafes, and their menu are not surprisingly expensive. Kids love it here, so I'd recommend to purchase annual pass
Although it is not big, there are still many kinds of animals. The central and southern hemisphere must be regarded as a big zoo. Great for bringing children here.
Awesome day out, was quiet because of rain. But the animals were out and about
One of the most beautiful zoos I've ever visited. Large animal enclosures, very dedicated animal keepers, informative lectures and great commitment to wildlife protection.
Had a lot of fun taking pictures of all the animals. The baboons butts were gross.
Had not been there since 1986, wow what fantastic improvements since then, no more sad sights like the poor old polar bear pacing up and down, happier looking animals with interactive things to do. A big thank you to all of the amazing staff who go out of their way to make our zoo world class.
Get zoo although rather disappointed in paying full price when a third of the zoo is under construction!
Maybe it's the heat, lots of animals were off display
Great time to go at 4pm got to see most of the animals
Animals rather sparse...sadly. Rather a beautiful setting in bush & fast running stream.Working on new area for animals.
Although under construction, loads of animals out & about on the zoo late night's $15 per person from 4pm to 8 pm. The animal keepers are around & more than happy to answer any questions that you may have its extremely informative.
Highly recommended.
We are annual pass holders and visit the zoo all the time. However with the massive upgrade works currently happening, it has dampened the experience somewhat. Can't wait for the upgrade to be completed!
