Went to see live music and was a very nice venue. Very intimate show
When we arrived everything was dusty and stunk, the room was very narrow, the bathroom also stunk the shower was overflowed when off and everything was yellow on the floor. And sorry about the grammar
Great place to stay. Absolutely amazing staff, it is the best location one can get.
The staff very friendly and willing to help, the kitchen very useful and clean as the bathrooms. Emphasize the good atmosphere throughout the hostel and even more in the common areas.
Great cheap place to stay. Close to tube and located in great location (Hyde Park)
Poco costoso per qu lui che offre. Molto accogliente. Assolutamente consigliato
Price is reasonable price, service is good, environment is clean and and location is perfect.
Pros:
- Service: the guy who checked me in went above and beyond in terms of making me feel welcome and giving me an orientation to my time in London. He must've spent a solid 20 mins with me giving me his personal experience on recommendations to see and do during my time there and every single one was spot on
- Rooms: Both my room and the bathroom were super clean, felt totally okay going barefoot in the shower
- Location: ~10 min walk from a central tube station and ~5 min walk from several key bus lines meant it was really easy to get around the city
Cons:
- No elevator/lift
- People didn't feel too social, but that was probably crowd-dependent
Unable to pay without a credit card was kind of a bummer and the fact that they didn't take walk-ins caused me to look for a different place to sleep. But from what I could see in the 5 minutes that I was inside, it seemed nice.
Pretty much the best hostel I've stayed at so far. I mean, really second to none. The staff do literally everything they can to treat you like family. They are angels.
Good experience at Astor Hyde Park Hostel: facilities are okay and cleaned, rooms are of a decent size and lockers as well.
Kitchen is well maintained !
Prices are totally reasonable
Very nice, quiet, safe and clean hostel. The rooms are in need of a little bit of refurbishment here and there though.
Astor is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. :) The staff and the guests staying long term are absolutely wonderful, kind and friendly. :) There's a strong sense of community and a homely vibe that most hostels lack. :)
Location has to be one of the best in London. That is all you should really care about when it comes to hostels.
It's kind of your run of the mill bad hostel. No elevator and very tiny beds. It's super affordable for a reason. No A/C so prepare to be hot as hell and the pillows were really sad. We ended up cancelling our next days in the reservation and staying at the Hampton instead. It was worth it for us, at least in the hot London summer.
Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms. Only thing they can add is a chair in the room as it's difficult to sit on a bunk bed and a small table would be handy too! Great location
The hostel was very well located (2-3 blocks from Imperial College, British Science Museum, Hyde Park, and British Museum of Natural History, and about a 5-7 min walk to the nearest tube stations), has relatively comfortable beds, and a relatively extensive supply of kitchenware. The breakfast was decent (cereal, toast, juice) and the staff was friendly.
Rooms are okay, but way too hot in summer. There is no possibility of lowering the temperature. The breakfast has a small variety of foods (cereals and toasts) and you have to wash the dishes for yourself -Disgusting.
Great clean place, nice staff, fun vibe, beautiful building a few minutes walking distance from Hyde park!
Unfortunately not a good experience with this hostel. They don't have elevators. If you book a basic room, you'll be put in a room on one of the higher floors (4 or higher). There's a big difference in luxury of the rooms. My friend and I booked the same price 6-bed mixed basic dorm, but were in different rooms. His bed had a personal reading light, sockets/USB power, while my bed had none of that. The bathrooms are very basic, flooded when showered and really need an upgrade. Also there was no duvet cover on my duvet when I arrived. The location is very good but that's pretty much the only positive thing I have to say about this hostel.
Super nice place with a great crew. But some of the facilities are a bit worn by use
Nice hostel in good location with good communal facilities. Kitchen, dining room and lounge are well equipped and comfortable. However, the beds are super uncomfortable and feel like a slab of hard polystyrene. Plus they are pretty short so anyone over six foot will not be able to sleep with with their legs straight. The room I was in had two lockers under each bunk but three beds stacked so hopefully there are more lockers elsewhere
I want to emphasize that the staff seems extremely friendly and accommodating. Check in was speedy and amicable and when we wound up quitting early they cheerfully refunded us for some of the unstayed nights.
That being said...
We got a room on the fourth floor. While it could well be that this was the worst of all worlds, it meant for a stifling room that was absolutely baking at night. The hostel provided two fans to try and keep air circulating, but ten beds means you're going to have people squabbling over whether the fan should be on or not.
Bathrooms often develop water slicks from where shower runoff skips over the rubber mesh mats and is blocked from draining. Soap containers are open top, which is a bit gross.
The beds are very small and thin, but the pillows get special mention for being woefully inadequate. Those are part and parcel of a hostel, so I didn't mind that immensely-- what did get me was the underbed wire lockers, which are finicky to wrestle open and closed at the best of times, but also don't afford much protection for smaller items.
The location is good and security is fine enough outside the odd lockers. Wouldn't stay here during summer for sure but might be better in cooler times.
Although I stayed for a long time, it is a good hostel where the staff is friendly and the building can feel the history. (It seems that the interior has changed to a modern one after staying)
You can walk to some of the National Museums on foot every day, and you can enjoy morning walks as there is Hyde Park on a 3-minute walk.
However, depending on the floor of the room, you have to go up the stairs considerably, so it is difficult to make a round trip. It may be good to request around 2.3 floors.
Amazing Service and facilities. Personnel is very friendly and are always willing to help. Lovely location as well.
Good service, clean rooms and very good location. You can not ask for more from a hostel
Location was amazing, in two days I was able to see every major attraction in downtown London! Staff were very helpful and the place was tidy, it was very easy to meet and talk to new people.
Really good value for money, quiet location, great hospitality, beautiful place
Comfortable, affordable hostel in central London with very nice staff.
For sure the best hostel in London. The place is always clean. Beautiful common area, as well as the kitchen. The staff from all over the world is amazing.
Really great place to stay ! People inside is very nice and the place is super good looking for a very reasonable price
Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location, adorable rates and a decent complimentary breakfast. A great option for a hostel stay in London!
fancy shmancy facade with a simple interior. LOTS of roommates, but the park is just across the street. all you need is a bed anyway, and each one has plenty of outlets, lights, and a curtain for privacy.
First hostel experience, and what a good one! Great location and awesome staff. I'd definitely stay again.
The location is great, but the facilities are so outdated that it's embarrassing. For a place that charges over 30 pound a night for a dorm bed, I find it shocking that the rooms do NOT have AC, and that no care has been put into the bathrooms to make them clean, new, and modern for guests. I just came from Asia where even the most remote hostels managed to have AC units... come on, London.
Given that Astor has so many locations, I thought they would hold themselves to a higher standard. When you're charging so much a night because "it's London," maybe you should provide your guests with better quality.
Quality and price very well should a little better the facilities are a bit old., The very nice reception willing to help you speak in Spanish or English. This hostel is very central and close to the train station.
Good hostel There are better in London, but the comparison of price and location is good.
An unusual experience. Excellent service, good atmosphere, very well located. Tiny and non-soundproof rooms. no shutters, it will lend you a mask for the day.
There was mould on my roof and it felt like I was sleeping in someone s seedy basement with no ventilation. Also left with bed bug bites. Wouldn t recommend.
Despite taking a bit expensive, the benefits are very good and the staff very friendly.
It is very close to Imperial College London, where the conference that I was attending was held. It got reasonable price, especially at the heart of Kensington, close to major subway station, steps away from the Hyde Park and many other place of interest. Good environment, nice people, good accommodations, chances to talk to young people from all over the world. Definitely recommend if you want to stay for few days and want to explore London!
Great location, great mix of spaces for relaxing, chatting and eating. Lovely people Becky, Chris and Luis exceptional always happy to help. Suitable for any trip whether leisure or work, oh and most importantly incredible value for money. Incredible
I wish there was a 0 star on this because in my room there was a blood stain on a blanket, dust as soon as you opened the curtains, the window wouldn t shut, there was a hole in my window and the food was poor never go here because you will get nits
Really great hostel! A beautiful old building with up to date amenities, a fantastic and knowledgeable staff and a brilliant location. It's right next to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens, a ten minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station and there are plenty of bus stops nearby. The room is bright and large, one of the best in the hostel according to the staff. Large communal spaces and whilst I didn't partake in any of the hostel activities myself as I had other plans, there seemed to be a lot on for people to make friends and get to explore the area, from picnics to walking tours to pub crawls. Highly recommend this hostel to people coming to visit London.
Well located in london ... excellent lounge .... but the stairs to the rooms are endless!
Solid hostel. Not to far from the dt attractions but you'll need to use public transportation or a taxi to reach as it's a far walk. Staff were friendly and prices, while high, were pretty good for being in the city.
I stayed here when my daughter got taken to the royal brompton hospital from Cheltenham
Friendly staff value for money and also an ideal location .
Love this place quite clean manager #1;any problems fixes it receptionist great Answers all questions very knowledgeable about bookings.
Astor Hyde Park
It has potential, but it is only worth 3 stars now.
Pros:
Great Building.
Good Location, free luggage storage.
Fair Breakfast with One pounds.
Having enough bathroom and shower.
Cons:
Customer services just isn't good.
Hostel policy is stupid and inflexible. (Sent out an email way before I arrival requested a lower bed, no reply. Requested checking-in got denied because the bed # is arranged by cleaners randomly.)
Over all very disorganized.(stayed 3 nights, 3rd night when back found a girl slept on my bed, also my sleeping mask which I left on my bed before I went out is lost. The event is eventually solved but that is very bad experience, when I talk to staff, no one seems cares.)
Problems with room.(Outlets are centralized and closed to the door, you don't have one close to your bed. Also there is no table. You have to put your laptop on the floor if you would like to charge it. Remember is almost right behind the door!!! I won't put my macbook there, Someone will step on it.)
Also, the height between lower bed and upper bed is way short, it cuts to my shoulder when i sit on lower bed)
The shower water pressure is low and the temperature is lukewarm.
Not clean.
Also, I think it's luck
The number of customers in the same room was the lowest.
(Because the price is reasonable, I write it after knowing that there is no help for it)
Lie on the floor, speak loudly until 1am, even with caution, loudly watching the video from the morning
laugh. Such. Also, since there is no elevator, be careful of people with large luggage. (The front staff didn't help, so I asked another guest in a gentle passage)
It's expensive in London,
I can forgive that the building is old and can't be helped, but in other cities and countries, this is really
It's a terrible level. I'm regrettable, but I can't but say that it's London.
This was by far the worst hostel that I've ever been to. The rooms were gross and hadn't been cleaned especially the floors, bathroom, and beds. My bed luggage storage was broken. There were actual booger stains on the floor and on the wall by my bunk. The floor was disgusting and had food on it when I first arrived. On top of that I was stuck sleeping on the 4th floor and there's no lift or elevator. The luggage storage is really small and your luggage is just squished inside. The surrounding neighborhood was safe and nice, but the inside of this hostel is really dirty. Would never stay here ever again
Pros: good location, the building is beautiful.
Cons:
- 10 people sharing one bathroom and shower. Seems like kind of a fire hazard to have so many people on such a high floor and only a narrow staircase.
- toilet paper just sitting on the back of the toilet, wet.
-no hand towels in the bathroom
- the bathroom was always soaking wet
- mold on the bathroom ceiling
- toilet gross and stained
- too many people in a room that size
- bed linens had weird stains. Asked for another blanket, staff came to deliver while we were in the room and couldn't find us so they just left it and emailed me.
- wifi didn't work the entire time
- 10 people and one mirror
- room was very hot, even with the one fan on the floor
- staff was unhelpful. 24 hour check-in, but the staff member was downstairs drinking, so we had to wait 15 minutes to check-in, at which point another staff had to go find the person on the clock. Luckily other guests let us into the building.
- Staff member drunk and passed out on the stairs one night.
- No lift, which isn't stated. My friend has CP and we were on the third floor.
- kitchen was quite dirty
- floors super sticky.
- toilet downstairs was unusable and disgusting.
- Room was dirty and full of trash, including boogers on the wall by the beds.
I'm sorry, I wanted to like this place but we dreaded going back to the hostel, to the point that we were using restrooms at shops and restaurants instead of going back.
Everything was ok. The crew of the hostel is nice and very kind. Thanks for all. Regards. Gaby.-
Colleagues and I came here for my first Sofar event. It was very intimate and pleasurable night. Thank you.
Like to come here again and again. Clean, tidy and well situated in London. Big hang out room and free to use kitchen
Friendly Australian staff very nice area next to embassy's and Hyde Park clean big spacious hostel very safe secure good vibe in hostel and best of all fresh ground coffee for breakfast unlike other hostels with there tesco instant coffee
Most of the staff are overworked and you can see that in how they deal with customers. Have had no fault with check in, the lady was lovely and friendly.
Again another problem, due to a proper schedule or overbooking I was told there was no towel available until 1-2 hours. A bit of let down after checking in at night and having to check out by 10am.
The thing I liked about the hostel was the armosphere, and the fact they run a charity breakfast for a good cause between 8-10am.
My advice never book the ensuite rooms available or travel here in a couple it's not worth it. My partner was not happy and she made she sure I wasn't either.
Thank you for unforgettable experience.
An impeccable hostel. We were in a room for 3 people and it was quite spacious although austere in furniture.
Very nice staff and great location, in a very good area of London.
They have a large lounge at the entrance and the kitchen along with the dining room is also quite spacious.
The bad: there are stairs, some very narrow from a certain floor and it is an effort to upload the suitcases and, well, as in these places, the "neighbors" that can touch you. The breakfast is quite simple with cereals, milk, juices and toast but despite this, I would always recommend it.
Excellent reception attention, language, reports, they give you porters and do not charge for luggage storage. The bad thing, a remodeling to the facilities is already very old and a bathroom together for the whole room is not very viable.
The best hostel ever, I like the stuff, very nice. They donate the money that people give for breakfast. It's really the best place in London. They also make activities every for us. I'll love to come back.
Worths its price. Fairly clean, kind people, almost free (and still spending for good) breakfast. Of course not clean as hotel, but you know the price.
One thing I wish more is a program to welcome and gather the hosts. It seems they offer it but hard to find a way to participate.
Erg leuk pension/hostel. ook erg netjes en schoon.
Je zult er leuke en intersant en mensen ontmoeten.
Ook de locatie is supper.
Alles is vlak bij winkel metro een parkeer.
Location is near to the park and situated at a residential area. It's about 10mins walk from the nearest metro station. Service is good. Rooms can be cleaner though
Excellent hostel. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Decent prices, lovely location and great atmosphere.
Not luxurious but in a great part of London just near the V&A, staff friendly and place seemed to be kept clean. Room could get a bit stuffy -nothing opening the window for a brief minute couldn't fix - and it was a shame there weren't More
Comfortable beds It is a place for young people. If you touch on the upper floors you have to have good condition hahaha. The breakfast is acceptable. The location is excellent.
Really good location, close to Hyde Park and lots of museums. Rooms are nice and there's a very well equipped kitchen.
