We felt completely unwelcome because we had a walking baby with us. The security guards followed us around watching us like hawks as though we were going to let baby wreck the joint! We were helicopter parenting and managing just fine. We even heard the security guard radio ahead to a colleague when we went into another section of gallery. Very unfriendly. I've never experienced this kind of rudeness from galleries in Melbourne and London. Pathetic. A little badge, big power to the little guard.

Since my last day in Perth was quite rainy I figured this was the perfect place to spend a couple of hours.
It s nicely set up, but not too big. Small selection of gifts in the gift shop. Probably good for a visit of up to 2 hours for the average person. There s some guided tours as well. Unfortunately I didn t get the chance to do one.

A well laid out and well maintained facility with a nice range of local and international art. However I note some of the exhibits could be better signed and contextualised. Great, well curated gift shop.

Absolutely not to be missed! Seven hundred years of history of Florence and Italy through the role of the Corsini family in the society of the time and the art treasures preserved in their palaces. An exhibition set up with passion, competence and great dissemination skills. As long as there are similar ambassadors in the world, there is a future for our Italy!

Best in the state! Have some great works and diverse exhibitions. Also strongly focuses on Aboriginal art with dedicated exhibitions. Year 12 perspective annual exhibition is another exhibition that attract crowds and appreciate and motivate students. Now showing "Treasure Ships" which bring art from the age of spices from Europe and East Asia (informative to see). Some art might go a bit overhead but for some these are their favourites. Overall 4.5/5

A great venue and collection directly adjacent to the Perth train station. The curated exhibitions are second only top the AGWA collection that has been acquired and donated over the years. The building itself is a patient gem.

Beautiful gallery, an absolute must do in Perth. The gallery itself is an old concrete retro style building with geometric tile work on the ceiling, great for architecture nerds. They had a beautiful collection of Aboriginal art work, classic and modern and a heavy focus on local Australian art. Loved it!

I love this place. It is inspiring and welcoming. And the gift shop is a real gem. Hidden in a relatively small space, lots of beautiful handmade objects that can make unique and beautiful presents for special occasions or special ones. And the staff are amazingly supportive, knowledgeable and not pushy at all. Loved it!!

Its one of those places everybody needs to visit. Even the ones that dont understand 'art' (like myself). There is always stuff to confound the bounds of the rational mind. Some great, some hideously ugly or silly. But thats the point.
At my visit a bunch of the exhibits were closed but one of the very friendly security guards pointed us towards some classical stuff in another wing. Which was nice to see.

Bonus points - its free.

Simply put, go there. Take your date for a wander and get points for looking intellectual for a bit, even if you dont understand any of it. Ha.

A great modern gallery just outside the city that features many local, national and international pieces. The recent addition of the History of Sneakers was a fantastic exhibition.

Outside features some fantastic historic buildings as well as gardens and huge natural rooftop vegetable garden showcasing many of our local offerings.

A very cheap and fun way to spend an afternoon.

I always find something I am not expecting to like in here. There's a great ambience and the collections are usually very good. I really enjoyed the Dali, Van Gogh and Picasso collection they showed a few years ago. The aboriginal art is well represented and there are plenty of controversial pieces to make you think. Well worth a visit.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia has an interesting mix of heritage and contemporary architecture. The main building was apparently inspired by the courtyards and pavilions of the Mexico City Museum of Anthropology. The gallery opens every day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm except Tuesday. No fees to enter the Art Gallery, but they may ask you to make a voluntary donation as you enter. There are toilet facilities (including disabled access), wheelchair accessible parking and entrance too. ACROD and general car parking is available within the Perth Cultural Center. Accessible by pedestrian overpass from The Perth Train Station. Blue CATs buses has the closest pick up ang drop off on Beaufort Street.

Perth is being advertised as the place on Sydney tv, in news papers, to visit from east coast . Does not help visitors to Perth if Perth attractions are closed to visitors . The galleries on east coast never close . Disappointed that we took International tourists there yesterday and the gallery was closed. Lots of money is being spent on tourism make the opportunity and create more jobs and open 7 days a week!
