The exhibits are generally amazing. Curated to a very high standard.

Lots of Western Australian art which provides a window into history.

Probably one of my favourite places in the city to spend a quiet midweek afternoon.

You visit it once and be like "ah sweet", and then you wait about a year and visit again and its like "ah nothings changed, except for a very few paintings". Id say go down to margaret river if you'd like to look at some art, cause my god i swear there are more art galleries then there are galleries. In fact most of the cafe are galleries!

Art Gallery is always a memorable visit with the majority free & only special travelling exhibits attract a charge. This time round was privaleged to see the new art purchased for free permenant display - Spectacular Aboriginal Art Exibit Going currently featuring moving works on the native peoples, their experience in this country since white settlement & fascinatingly deep messages. 125th Anniversary approaches in 2020 & promises to be amazing.
PLEASE NOTE I HAVE CONTRIBUTED NO PHOTO AS I REFUSE TO PHOTOGRAPH WORKS OF ART HELD IN GALLERIES - CONSIDER IT DISRESPECTFUL TO TAKE PHOTOS WITHIN AGWA.

Art is a subjective form of expression, and in turn, so is its appreciation, and no two people can have exactly the same tastes, so keeping this in mind, I have given the gallery a four star rating. The amenities are good and they're free. The artwork is nice and interesting. Based on my personal taste, I find a lot of modern art very difficult to appreciate, however, I feel like I can appreciate them more based on their story rather than the art. I generally look at it and feel like it's quite simple, however the story is what makes it for me. I preferred looking at painting, and there are some very nice paintings here. There was also an Aboriginal art section which is definitively worth a look, should it it still be there.

I recommend having a look to anyone who is visiting Perth/Northbridge.

Free entry. Permanent displays are limited compared to other capital cities, but worth seeing. I especially like the indigenous art and this section would be good for overseas visitors. Fees charged for special exhibitions. Child friendly, often activities available.

Fantastic collection of old master Australian modern contemporary and Aboriginal art. Also some fine porcelain and glass collections as well as International art. Banjo Patterson bush poet - one of my all time favourites "Down on his Luck" by Frederick McCubbin and of course Robert Juniper. South African William Kentridge monumental sculptures on display amongst others. Sadly time was limited will have to go back again..

An interesting art gallery! We enjoyed the Aboriginal art, the portraits and photographs by Bill Henson. We ran out of time to look at any of the other galleries. One companion thoroughly enjoyed the Heath Ledger exhibition.

A number of galleries we're closed when I visited recently. I remember there were a lot more art works the previous time I was there a few years ago.

There is amole paid parking nearby so it is easy to go to. There are places to sit down so it is disabled and elderly friendly.

It's a nice modern building but wish there were more artworks.

Conveniently located near the Perth train station. Aircon comfort and a few floors to explore. The Kimberley collection which I visited today was extremely interesting with both traditional and moden art techniques. Well laid out gallery where each turn takes you on a different journey. Whilst I never took advantage of them, guided tours were available. Plenty of access for persons with dissabilities etc. Looking forward to my next visit. A cafe/restaurant is adjacent to front door if you choose and sales of books and related art info is available art the gallery. Being older, seats for viewing could do with being a few inches higher as I watched many patrons struggle to their feet also.

Great set up in the central art, museum district of Perth. Attended a workshop with the kids and they loved the interactive nature of the session. Well worth looking into if you need to keep the kids entertained.

An absolutely gorgeous place. The building itself is light and airy. The exhibits I managed to get to see were wonderful. Loved the place and will definitely be back. I had lunch in their restaurant. The food was delicious. The prices more than reasonable and the service was excellent. Totally recommend it as a great place to meet with friends.

It is was a pleasant way to spend about an hour and a half or so. It's quite a large gallery, spread on 3 levels. There is plenty of space between and around the artworks, it's not all crammed in like some galleries.
The gallery caters to all tastes, there's something for everyone. I like landscapes and paintings of historic scenes, so there was a good selection. Then there was also modern and abstract which were not my cup of tea, but there you go.
It's also free, and while you need to check your backpacks, you are free to take your camera and take photos.

I adore this art gallery as it is one I have visited many times. There are always a massive range of exhibitions and the school group tour guides are both personable and knowledgable with most (of not all) being volunteers. The location is perfect being right next to the train station and a short walk away from Northbridge which is home to many hidden delights.
