A really nice spot to stroll in and checking out old historicsl artefacts
Very nice and clean place to visit. Guards aren t so welcoming to disabled people.
A wonderful modern gallery highlighting excellent artwork from local WA artists. Worth a long, leisurely visit
Had a great day at the corsini exhibtion.
Just a little disappoint about not knowing when the opera, dancing and other events where on and when something was on wasn't easy to get to or see.
Central Art and Culture Space of W.A. Well worth a visit
Excellent to visit, for the great art and exhibitions. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable with a pleasant disposition.
The collection is not very interesting, but the museum is free, so in principle it is worth going :)
A gem of a destination, a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours getting lost in the art on display.
Interesting and beautiful. A mind bending collection of old and new art. This is a fantastic place to stroll through on a date or take the family for something different.
Difficult to find. The entrance is well hidden. Closed on Tuesdays...(???) ostensibly to protect the artworks... too many eyeballs looking? Ridiculous for a state gallery.
Exhibits were sympathetically curated and well lit.
Well worth a visit , I was very impressed with the whole set up.
LESTER prize for portraiture exhibition and opening night. Lovely experience and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the gallery at night.
brilliant exhibition of the life and creativity of the uber talented Heath Ledger.....
It s so many decades since I last visited the Art Gallery! I particularly wanted to see Andrew Nicholls Hyperkulturemia solo exhibition (and now I need to see his ceiling mural in the City of Perth Library and his wall mural at Zekka). I was there while the Beyond Bling! exhibition was also on and as always with the Art Gallery, there is always something new to see, I need to visit more often!
Many historical artworks on early WA days. Well managed and good atmosphere.
I enjoyed the exhibitions, I should have allowed more time........ Next time.
Absolutely relaxing and very varied collections on display.
Beautiful free art gallery!
Lots of space and different styles of art.
Little shop at the entrance, a few seating area, and more exhibits soon to be opened.
Very clean and enjoyable to visit!
Interesting place to go and spend a couple of hours looking around at all the prices even if you are not an art lover of know alot about art. There are some interesting landscapes of Perth from the early 1900's
Totally awesome addition to our international status of our First Nations Art and Culture
At present, the entire art museum is free to visit. There are several themed exhibition areas. Traditional arts are relatively small. Most of them are modern art. To be fair, traditional arts are not exciting enough. If you want to use this art museum to understand the entire art genre, it will poor
In the case of modern art, the creations are quite ingenious and point of view.
Digression, the museum only opens at 10 o'clock, but three or four displaced people in front of the front door seemed to spend the night here, to understand their experience, but this is after all the museum, I hope the relevant units can assist these people, and also return to the museum A spacious entrance
Great tour of the Corsini Collection by an extremely well informed humorous extroverted tour guide.
Love going to the art gallery particularly when there is a new exhibition.
It's absolutely worth going for the year 12 perspectives. Every student has so much raw talent and emotion, it's always an enjoyable and eye opening experience.
Always try to get top flight exhibitions as well as providing the backbone for West Australian art community. I've seen Dali, the Corsini collection, and I always visit the Foundation day painting. Brilliant place, gives me pride in my state.
I would love to see whats in the collection not on show but im sure they do their best , have always loved this gallery.
I took more knowledge and especialy about austalia.in this photo describe ,europeans came to australia in first time.
Seems to be a very corporate way of presenting artwork with individual galleries often named after major sponsors. This led to a certain tension between some of the artworks and the ethics of those large resource companies sponsoring them.
Great place to obviously come and look at art ,helpful friendly staff to help you if you have any enquires
Very good museum.
Free entrance, free WiFi, free guided tour !
100+ paintings and sculptures from Australian artistes and a few also from Europe/America
Western Australia's premier Art Gallery with a fantastic history of curation.
Poor collection, if you dig art don't bother. It's free though, nice. Go to PICA instead, real creativity lies there. Much more interesting
The Ned Kelly exhibition is excellent, well worth going to.
Always something NEW and INSPIRING to see, great gift shop and cafe
Great gallery with some famous artworks from around the world!
I haven't been to this art gallery for 30 odd yrs and can't see myself going again in next 30yrs ..nothing special. My Dr has turned his surgery into an community art gallery and this is more interesting than the Art Gallery of WA.
Brilliant displays of local and Australian artists, always changing exhibitions and visiting international exhibitions. Most displays are free with a fee charged for some touring exhibitions
Well organised with current Heath Ledger exhibition meaningful and worth a visit.
An amazing art galley with beautiful paintings sculptures and many more. There is a wide array of artists and paintings and the staff are verry nice and respectful. Also there is free entry so you can explore the art galley without paying a cent. Also there are sometimes some fun new exhibits to look at. I highly recommend this place for an artist, art lover, tourist and anyone interested in seeing an art gallery in the heart of Perth.
I visited the art gallery without having very high expectations because I have no clue how to appreciate art and how to analyze it. However, the various exhibitions they had going on were very interesting. There was also a really helpful security guard that talked us through some of the pieces. Super interesting visit and I would definitely go back there again. Be sure to set aside at least 3 hours to fully enjoy everything the gallery has to offer.
A place of solace and inspiration for me for the past 35 years.
There are several exhibitions showcasing a variety of styles of Aboriginal art. These range from traditional to contemporary representations of the importance of people, place and purpose in the telling of stories. The artists are profiled very well so you're able to see them on country in your imagination
Definitely worth a visit if in Perth, plenty to see and some interesting exhibitions.
The Art Gallery of Western Australia is home to some of the Best Artworks on Display from around the World... The Art Gallery itself and surrounding areas have undergone extensive renovations over the past few years especially and still continue to display such a diverse range of Art....
The Staff are extremely knowledgeable and well trained in all types of Artwork... From paintings to 3D structures, there are so many amazing pieces of Art...!!
The Art Gallery of WA is most definitely worth visiting whilst the holidays are still on.... At the moment they are still showing Heath Ledger's Life in Pictures Display... It is a great display and if you make your way down here, you will see just how talented this young West AustralIan man was...!!
With a newly renovated and licensed restaurant/cafe just at the front of The Art Gallery, called 'FRANK' AGWA (Art Gallery of Western Australia) Don't take my word on it.... Come take a look..! A great day out for everyone....
A beautiful art corner in the centre of city. To make sure the visitors can enjoy the quiet moment and the tranquility, recommend to kids 7+ when they can behave themselves and shows respect.
Bit disappointed - made the effort to get there - not much to see
Easy to find parking
Great pieces of art.
It's alright I guess. Some famous pieces in the permanent collection, and insightful painting and minor artifact in the classical section. It's decent by this town of just over a million I guess.
They do host regular and sometime interesting exhibition.
But hey don't take my word for it. Entry is by donation - which means you can give nil if you so please. Which makes a visit worthwhile, if you are visiting this most isolated town in the universe. Why not drop by and have a quick browse. You can cover the entire building in under 20 minutes.
Excellent spot for a few hours of time well spent with friends or family
A small gallery compared to eastern state galleries and is spread out over many floors, but does have some quality artworks and helpful informed staff.
It's not bad, a couple of nice pieces in the basement
Nice place To see contemporary art.
Art is subjective.
Everything is free and that's definitely a good thing to let everyone access art.
The staff is really friendly and helpful.
Thanks
Interesting and well-divided works for periods or other
I was so impressed I rang some of my friends when I got home to send them along. Loved the variety, incredible indigenous works, loved to see a lot from our own State, I have a granddaughter graduate art student coming home from Melbourne so I will share the experience with her next week. Good work . Janice Hunt
Diverse and combines history with modern arts. Friendly staff. Nice architecture
Fantastic place with loads to see allow plenty of time.
Another brilliant Australian gallery featuring contemporary and classic art , indigenous and western artists and to my surprise some contemporary middle eastern art. really worth the visit spent a few hours lost amongst the art!
A celebration of the best of weatern Australia. Really easy to engage with.
Always a fantastic time at the art gallery with new exhibits coming all the time!
This experience was great swing the old Jordan's,converse, ponys and Lebrons it was great to see all the history behind one pair of shoes I definitely think sneakers head should come here
Can't go wrong in a place full of art with free entry.
Always impressed with the west australian art shown here
Excellent design of the gallery and friendly customer service
Such a great space that really showcases the many aspects of art. The Telstra Perth Fashion Festival was held here in 2016 where the sweeping staircase was used to full advantage to show the beautiful fashion art. They also showcased the recent Heath Ledger exhibition which my friends and I found mesmerising. Great shop with lots of high quality fab goodies to remind you of your visit. Recommended
Very interesting exhibitions, especially the six seasons of indigenous art. Beyond bling has also beautiful pieces not your usually jewellery. Lovely elderly staff who are very helpful as well as their security guards. The little shop inside has very stunning cards for any occasion or just for yourself and all types of gifts, jewellery and books. Very tempted to buy too much. Very pleasant and interesting visit I highly recommend.
