Haven was wonderful. In the past I ve never felt comfortable talking about my haircut expectations because I don t know much about hair / what would look good on me. Haven was able to take my nervous rambling / soft suggestions and articulate it into a goal that confirmed exactly what I wanted. She was also informative and supportive overall. Anyway, I left absolutely loving my haircut and have spent every day since then grazing my new undercut.
Been twice now, both times with Haven who is just brilliant, she is very open and kind and is very good. very happy with my hair both times and will use Haven next time too.

Can not recommend highly enough. The only other person I would maybe trust with my hair after Ali would be Jonathan Van Ness... MAYBE! Never in my life have I felt comfortable having my haircut because my long hair is my favorite accessory and up until I found Art + Autonomy it always was either botched or just slightly off. And when a haircut at a nice place is gonna cost you upwards of $100 each visit, I just could never justify paying that much for a cut I didn t love. Ali so gets it, she listens, pulls up pictures for you and knows what s going to look cute or classic or trendy or whatever you re going for. The salon has a whole is just so well run too. They take hair education seriously and make a point of it to consistently be taking classes and keeping up to date with the best hair products. Plus the studio is gorgeous yet comfortable and have a great selection of refreshments that they offer upon arrival. Really cute bathroom too. Art + Autonmy makes every other hair salon in NYC look like a dumpster fire... without even trying because they are also truly some of the NICEST people. I d give 100 stars if I could.
I had a fantastic time at Art + Autonomy. Haven t had this great an experience at a hair salon in a long time. I had a cut with Ocean, an apprentice, and she gave me an amazing new style and new fringe. She was fun, confident, at ease, and super chill and she talked me through the steps she was taking. She taught me how to style my new cut, let me know she s available for bang trims, and had her supervisor check her work at major steps of the process which made me feel even more at ease. One of my friends asked if I felt I got more Art or more Autonomy and I have to say both! Great apprentice system, fantastic salon, amazing stylists. Can t wait to come back!

The salon is warm and inviting, the technicians are second to none and my service dog is treated like the queen she is. But seriously, I found Jeffrey after a hair disaster and have been in a hair relationship with him ever since. Tom gave me a perfect haircut, as usual. I ve been going to him for years, even though I live out of state now. He has a great eye for what is flattering and doesn t fall into the pattern of doing the same thing over and over. The rest of the salon staff are also fantastic.

This place is phenomenal. I initially visited the salon because of how many wonderful things I heard about the owner, Jeff Jagling. That said, the salon completely exceeded my (already high) expectations. Every single person in the salon has an eye on giving you an amazing salon experience, from the person at the front desk, to the assistants, to the stylists. Jeff is phenomenal and cares deeply about his clients. He gave me the best haircut I ve ever had (and I ve been to a lot of salons). The colorists there are phenomenal, as is Ocean, who does incredible work. Every single person working there is talented, meticulous, thoughtful, and impeccably trained. You can t go wrong with anyone here. Regardless of which stylist you visit, you re in great hands. I ve tried dozens of salons and all pale in comparison to this place. If you re thinking about paying them a visit, GO. Amazing salon doing phenomenal work, taking wonderful care of their clients. I really can t say enough good things.

Russell Cordeiro has been cutting and coloring my hair here for 3+ years ... I love love love the color treatments (always consistent) and the cut quality (always fabulous). The salon is in the heart of swanky SoHo but has an unpretentious vibe, very welcoming and warm - and affordable by NY standards! The owners Jeffrey and Noelle are regularly in the salon often seeing clients themselves, which is a nice touch too. I typically book my appointments ahead 3-4 months because I know I will be happy coming back for years to come! Highly recommend.

Let's begin at the beginning with what I want: Blonde, just the right amount of my natural hair plus super duper blonde highlights, I want to keep it long, I want it silky smooth! Jeffrey and his team are amazing. How do I know this? They foil my hair and mix fresh developer as they go. They rinse out sections of foils as they are done--> this keeps my hair from being overcooked--> long, healthy length! Come for the color, stay for the shampoo and cool people. My boyfriend gets his hair cut here now. That's how good they are at this salon, and Jeffrey is good with cutting men and women's hair. And he is a nice person. They are all genuinely friendly people. I have product and supplies that are keeping my hair salon pretty. GET THE SHOWER HEAD FILTER!!! My hair is baby fine, but there's a lot of it, so it's hard to get it to hold any shape. Haven worked her magic and gave me a classic bob that makes me look like a 20s movie star, and lasts longer than any short cut I've ever had. Plus she's smart and fun to talk to, which is just a bonus.

As a guy, the vast majority of my life I have gone to equivalent of supercuts, sports cuts, and many other sub $20 in-an-out type "salons." This is because I thought hair was simple and that was the only thing worth paying. Until I met Jeffrey at Art and Autonomy. What I went for was a "haircut" and what I got was a hair experience. The staff were incredibly courteous and professional and the space itself is warm and beautiful. Instead of asking me how I want my hair and then just getting to it, Jeffrey asked how I normally do my hair, and then made recommendations based on that style and what better fit my face and head shape - something I had literally never considered once before. He walked me through what he was doing, why he was doing it, and then spent time with me on how to style it day-to-day once I leave. He recommended products that worked with the style that gave me the exact look and feel I wanted out of my hair. As a doctor, how my hair looks can influence how my patients feel about me (which seemed ridiculous at first, but now I know it's true), so it's important to take it seriously and have it done right. Jeffrey and his team at Art and Autonomy are artists and can make you look and feel more professional than you ever imagined you could.

She is always on top of the hottest trends but always keeps my style on point.
