We took 30 special needs children and their families for a class trip. They were very accommodating and we were able to get a group discount. The place was clean and the different sections of the facilities were beautiful!

Its okay i expected it to be better and more things to do, since people are always saying how amazing it is. The food was good and their smoothies. Besides that the kids had fun
my kids love it, and the whale watching trip is so much fun! If your a member, which I highly recommend the family pass since it's so affordable, you get a lot of discounts!
Love this place. Small but super chill and doesn't empty your pockets. I love that when your done you can still walk around and find food and other things to do.
Come here every few years with kids ..good place for seeing lots of types of fishes mostly..they have some sea lions, seals, penguins, and sharks..but not big shows....but a good place for kids under 10..
First time here and I enjoyed myself as well as my daughter she had a blast. Extreamly happy, wish we could have gotten their earlier. Looking forward to going back and getting the year pass
Very nice aquarium that does good work. Was really into it when my children were little (2-4 yrs) as they had a blast touching the sharks and rays. Plus they spent most of their time playing in the tiny playground they have outside where they can get wet.
The issue is that once you have been there 3-4 times there nothing new to see. Additionally some of the exhibits are showing their age but luckily they will be undertaking major renovations soon. It will be interesting to go back after those are done. Maybe then my older son will be more interested.
If you can the one thing I really recommend you do is take the behind the scene tour. It's worth the money.
A wonderful place to see and learn about aquatic life. I never truly understood how mesmerizing jellyfish are until I came here. There are even areas where you can touch stingrays and sharks. There are also animals like birds and frogs here as well. You can even feed the birds for a price.
Great place to bring the family. Save money by ordering the tickets online and downloading the PDF. They will scan your phone and you do not have to print.
My girlfriend loves penguins. She has a penguin purse. She has a penguin lock screen. She has a penguin cocktail shaker. All penguin everything. So when I found out the aquarium has a little known 'VIP Penguin experience', I knew I had to get it for her.
It requires a very expensive donation to the aquarium that will deter most people. But for a once in a lifetime experience, it was worth it... Much cheaper than a trip to Antarctica.
You meet your private guide out front about an hour before the aquarium normally opens. There's some downtime while the penguins are getting ready, so in the meanwhile you get a tour of the exhibits. After a short while... You meet the penguins.
First you get to meet a penguin outside of the enclosure. We meet Astaire, quite the charmer. After a bunch of petting and hugging, we got to go into the penguin enclosure. There we met the three newest penguin babies, and there was much more petting and hugging.
Like I said, the experience is not cheap but my girlfriend will never forget it, so if you are considering it, just do it, you won't regret it.
I hate to see animals caged, and I'd burn the place down if I could get away with it, but I actually had fun there, because of who I was with, and if you take your time to read all the signs, there's a lot to learn from this place, most of which you'll forget in a week. Fun place to bring the family.
With lots of exhibits both inside and out, it was fun to explore this aquarium. There were fishes, sharks, and other aquatic animals, and they had birds as well. I thought it was funny that they don't make you exit through the gift shop here. It felt more sincere without that gimmick. My favorite part was the large touch tanks. I was able to touch sting rays and small sharks!
Had an incredible experience this past weekend for the teacher's appreciation month and heritage celebration. Although it was a very busy day, all the exhibits were amazing to look at and see all the animals. Very great for the kids to experience and participate in activities. Every visit is a pleasure!
Great for small kids and family. Not too many places to get lost and great options to see diverse marine life in a central avenue. Good for individuals with disabilities, as they also have an elevator, and the entire family can participate.
Needs a make over...BADLY!!...of an Esthetic and an Energetic nature...plus I'm not sure how I feel about these beautiful and amazing sea creatures anyplace else but the ocean.
This wasn't the BEST aquarium I have even been in, but after a second go-through where we saw what we missed the first time, it got bumped up another star. I was pushing a wheelchair and didn't have a nice good easy map so I THINK we saw everything. What was the real highlight was the bird aviary. There were about 95 Lorikeets, many landing on people. My husband had 3 on him, one person had 7, and I had one land on my head. Beautiful little birds and really fun.
Really nice facility with some great marine life, but it is very small and there are way too many kids and strollers EVERYWHERE making it very difficult to navigate. $30 admission is way too expensive for a place that only takes 1.5 hours to see everything. $20 seems much more reasonable
Excellent aquarium! Not difficult to get to. Parking only $4 when you purchase a book of passes. Many different touch tanks for kids and things to do nearby also. Busy on weekends! Be ready for crowds.
You can see the entire aquarium with5 a few hours. Beautiful interior, but not alot of variety when it comes to larger aquatic animals. Still worth checking out
crowded but its summer and the week of july 4th so thats not surprising. its a small aquarium but i like that some of its outside. jelly fish and sharks are awesome!!
We had a great time with our 3 year old hate. She lived being able to touch some of the sea life. We loved all the different discounts available and nearby restaurants.
Our family enjoyed the fun and educational environment of the aquarium. The little ones also enjoyed the small play area and the hands on experience with the touch pools.
Last time I went here was such a sad face experience. Cloudy day and a bit chilly out fault. But the cafe was overpriced. Fast forward to most recent visit, wow what a change. MAR 2018, they did have some external construction going on. Inside was very fun. There's a central blue whale and baby calf suspended above you in the main atrium. It was a very crowded day but there still seemed enough space for everyone. Some people were a little pushy, but they were few enough rude people to ignore. Many displays too numerous to list. Oh, and outside exhibits were very numerous. They also had a few bird displays. One parrot exhibit allowed you to walk in and visit closer with the birds. You could purchase nectar to hand feed the birds, but 4$ a little cup seemed pricey. Plus many people were feeding so it was still possible to get great pics and share the experience. *TIP* Sorry if TMI but don't wear nice clothes, shirt or jacket inside with birds. When the birds sip the nectar they sometimes have a little number two. *TIP* Also ray/skate touch tanks next to each other and another outside but upstairs. There was a deal show but it was crowded and we opted to watch from a distance for the seals. Many outside pools had larger animals you could watch from outside but then from the ground floor one could view again from underneath. One of the main tanks had a hammerhead shark, a nurse shark and a sea bass all to view in the same location. *TIP* Pine street in Long Beach has many restaurants in all ranges; cheap snacks or coffee up to fine dining. One downside and not the aquariums fault. There is a small marina close by with Catalina cruises and whale watching. Those whale watching people had the loudest set on their PA system! It was to the point of obnoxious. So, different review but I recommend, Newport Beach Balboa marina instead. They have whale watching and the famous dual hulled Catalina flyer catamaran. Plus they DO NOT have a loud PA, imagine that, LOLz.
We went to the Aquarium after 5 for the late night deal and thinking that at night would we get a cooler experience, but also thinking that the aquarium lights would light up the park and look really nice. Instead the park was really dark inside and outside and also the park closed at 9 and before 8pm alot of concessions stands and exhibits were closed. It seems as if the wouldn't start closing down until about 8:50pm so paying guest can experience the full experience because we are still paying $20/ each to enter the aquarium.
The late nights are the best! Yes the shows are all well and done by this time but it's just so peaceful in the evening. There are fewer people and there is no rush to go from each exhibit.
Awesome aquarium. I would say that it's probably one of the better ones I've been to since their are two levels and the exhibits are pretty massive. A lot of interactive pools with live animals and attendants not to mention even someone answering questions when you ride the elevators.
There are several different species of fish, frogs, and jelly fish. There are water tanks to touch manta rays, star fish (including slugs), and sharks. The shark exhibit is a little small, but it has 4-5 different types of species (why I'm giving it 3 stars). You can see penguins and sea otters too. All in all, there is plenty to show toodlers and small children. For 11 year old and more, they might not find it as exciting.
