Michael Gebis Review of Aquarium of the Pacific
Private playdate with a penguin? Yes please!
Private playdate with a penguin? Yes please!
My girlfriend loves penguins. She has a penguin purse. She has a penguin lock screen. She has a penguin cocktail shaker. All penguin everything. So when I found out the aquarium has a little known 'VIP Penguin experience', I knew I had to get it for her.
It requires a very expensive donation to the aquarium that will deter most people. But for a once in a lifetime experience, it was worth it... Much cheaper than a trip to Antarctica.
You meet your private guide out front about an hour before the aquarium normally opens. There's some downtime while the penguins are getting ready, so in the meanwhile you get a tour of the exhibits. After a short while... You meet the penguins.
First you get to meet a penguin outside of the enclosure. We meet Astaire, quite the charmer. After a bunch of petting and hugging, we got to go into the penguin enclosure. There we met the three newest penguin babies, and there was much more petting and hugging.
Like I said, the experience is not cheap but my girlfriend will never forget it, so if you are considering it, just do it, you won't regret it.
