Last time I went here was such a sad face experience. Cloudy day and a bit chilly out fault. But the cafe was overpriced. Fast forward to most recent visit, wow what a change. MAR 2018, they did have some external construction going on. Inside was very fun. There's a central blue whale and baby calf suspended above you in the main atrium. It was a very crowded day but there still seemed enough space for everyone. Some people were a little pushy, but they were few enough rude people to ignore. Many displays too numerous to list. Oh, and outside exhibits were very numerous. They also had a few bird displays. One parrot exhibit allowed you to walk in and visit closer with the birds. You could purchase nectar to hand feed the birds, but 4$ a little cup seemed pricey. Plus many people were feeding so it was still possible to get great pics and share the experience. *TIP* Sorry if TMI but don't wear nice clothes, shirt or jacket inside with birds. When the birds sip the nectar they sometimes have a little number two. *TIP* Also ray/skate touch tanks next to each other and another outside but upstairs. There was a deal show but it was crowded and we opted to watch from a distance for the seals. Many outside pools had larger animals you could watch from outside but then from the ground floor one could view again from underneath. One of the main tanks had a hammerhead shark, a nurse shark and a sea bass all to view in the same location. *TIP* Pine street in Long Beach has many restaurants in all ranges; cheap snacks or coffee up to fine dining. One downside and not the aquariums fault. There is a small marina close by with Catalina cruises and whale watching. Those whale watching people had the loudest set on their PA system! It was to the point of obnoxious. So, different review but I recommend, Newport Beach Balboa marina instead. They have whale watching and the famous dual hulled Catalina flyer catamaran. Plus they DO NOT have a loud PA, imagine that, LOLz.
