My soul was chilled and my heart made heavy. Such a tragic yet beautiful experience
Highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We had the tour that included the extra classroom teaching that was very informative. This visit will stick with you.
I came here the first time 18 years ago with my family when I was 11 but now come 18 years later, the museum has had a huge makeover and I was very moved by each story from the Frank family who moved from Frankfurt to Amsterdam to escape the Nazi's in Germany until they invaded Holland and went into hiding at the same building in the 1940's. I'm now 29 and have learnt a lot about Anne Frank in English at Shapwick School in Somerset UK and it's totally worth visiting.
Sad story as part of WW2, we are not allowed to take photo
big crowd, many people, so we immediately gave up the idea of seeing the house
Interesting, somewhat commercialized exhibit. What I was most surprised about was the lack of modern fire protection in the building which was just remodeled last year!
A must when visiting Amsterdam! Make sure you book before visiting to avoid disappointment.
Very moving experience, would recommend to everyone visiting Amsterdam to add this to your itinerary, made me feel very humble. Hard to get tickets, though 20% of all ticket allocation are released on the day, so if you don t have tickets get up early and start refreshing.
Muffins were awesome in the food area, tour was pretty good too.
Experience a little girls thoughts during persecution and war...worth a visit. But book tickets online months in advance!
Tickets now only sold online, but the experience of this place is absolutly a must.
If you've read the book you will know the place as you see it. Hugely moving and sobering.
A must go when visiting Amsterdam.
But make sure you buy your tickets online a few days in advance.
Very interesting and also does a good job to bring to life a very sad time in the world. Make sure you buy tickets ahead of time as we and to wait in line about 3 hours.
It is a tragic but inspiring story to start with, really well presented and told in the rooms where the story unfolded. Free audio guide brings the rooms to life.
An amazing experience to learn about this history. Make sure to get your tickets in advance, as it is well worth it!! Must see if you go to Amsterdam!
A must do when visiting Amsterdam. Very sobering experience.
Very affordable tickets and pleasant staff. Absolutely crammed, go in the evening if you can! My ticket was at 8.15pm and we stayed until the place closed but the timing was just right. Really loved it. I've read the diary several times and feel that there could have been more information given but that's because I am really a huge fan of Anne Frank. I also wish that staff were around the house more as some people took pictures despite it being banned and incredibly disrespectful. But it is a tick off my bucket list and I absolutely loved it. Thanks for keeping it in great condition and letting her live on and her story.
Such a Beautiful humbling place to visit very sad and was emotional in parts
If you go to Amsterdam you have to visit.
Wonderful museum! Make sure to get the tickets in advance. I was lucky enough on getting the the day of. Had to check the website since 8:00AM. You have to be quick with refresh button! 20% Day of tickets go very fast.
The lady at the door was nice enough to allow us early entrance so we can make our flight back!
We spent 1h30min at the museum. Make sure to bring your own headphones. Very well presented museum. Worth the money. Great memory.
I hoped I could have gone in,didnt k ow it needed a booking ahead of time. The building from outside is beautiful
Quite a long queue to get in but it's great to learn about het story
Amazing place to understand a little more about second World War. If you are in Amsterdam, go to this place. You only should be patient, because the queue is huge. Inside the house is not allowed to take photos.
Book online early for easy entry. If you show up at the door you can't purchase until late in the afternoon.
You need to make reservations in advance. The tickets open up 2 months prior. Was not able to get in.
Learned that you cannot see the actual house from the street.
Very well thought through exhibition of the live around Anne Frank. There is usually a one hour wait in front of the museum starting from 3.30pm. I highly recommend to reserve online to get an allocated time slot for your visit.
Please don't try to take pictures and get you tickets earlier than you think to get them online ahead of your trip by a couple of months. The folk standing outside only follow instructions and respond in a typical Dutch fashion. You are a visitor in their country for Pete's sake.
Well thought out. Insightful. Some areas might be difficult to walk for people with mobility issues do to steep stairs and tight spaces.
Very glad to have gone. An important and inspiring story of the triumph of the human spirit over tyranny
A great piece of history... Anne isn't home incase you were wondered
Very popular so you'll need to book in advance online
Amazing history. Well presented. The atmosphere left you feeling very somber. Museum respectful to what happened, but got the history across very well. One of our party had a disability and staff could not have been more helpful!!
Very good tour, liked the fact that you were walking with the hearing aid from the museum. It made it very flexible and you could hear very well. Recommend to book in advance.
Please plan ahead your visit, is a very famous attraction in Amsterdam.
Such a moving and solemn atmosphere. I'm your visiting Amsterdam mainly for the nightlife and party scene, but a visit to the Anne Frank house in the daytime is well worth it. The museum was very informative and really helped to put the war and life of the people of this time into perspective. Reserve your tickets around 2 months in advance if your visiting. Better safe than sorry.
Somber look into this family's experience and the vibrant spirit of this young girl who yearned for so much which she was robbed of. Definitely a must-see if you're in Amsterdam. Book tickets online to avoid long lines.
Tickets were sold out until the 25th of the month. They save 20% off the tickets to sell at 9 am same day. The problem was the website is junk. I was in que and was promoted to buy but there was no buy button. We were thoroughly disappointed.
Make sure you read in advance how to get tickets. Same day online ticket purchases can be stressful
My life long wish to visit and see what Anne and her family went through was fulfilled. It is a must go whenever you go to Amsterdam.
To be fair, it is being remodeled but we would have loved to see the rooms with furniture so we could imagine better what it was like for them.
Great experience, something everyone should do while in Amsterdam. You can only get tickets online but if you can't get them in advance then they sell tickets night tickets on the day from 5pm.
Greatly done layout, super glad we got our tickets a month in advance as people who arrived when we were about to enter were turned away as the day was sold out! Just an FYI some stairs are steep so be prepared for that, if stairs are a problem (walk with a cane etc.) they do have virtual tour, not sure how you book it though.
Quite a haunting place. Must book tickets online many weeks before. The flow is good and the headset is great and very informative. Highly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant a must go. Incredible to see what she and her family went through during those dark years we had in Europe. Makes you truly think about your own life and what you take for granted.
It is proberbly a good place to visit,Just book about two months in advance you might just get a ticket. On line bookings only !
Happy they preserve it and share it. Not happy at all with the unwelcoming guide conducting the introductory session prior to the tour. I understand it s part of the dutch persona to be direct but she crossed the line to rude after incorrectly assuming I would be translating her tour into Spanish to my companion. She could ve conveyed the same message in a nicer tone.
like a lot of people i read the book when it was first printed, then some years later had the opportunity to visit the 'house' i was not happy that payment was part of the experience. considering what the poor child went through i found it very distasteful that money had to change hands before a visit around the house necessary, so, i didn't go in. it was a beautiful book.
A very moving memorial to a terrible time in our history. Be sure to book tickets before you go, as at the time of our visit they were only available online.
It was moving, sad, inspiring and wonderful. You can not take photos while you are there. That's the saddest part. The secret rooms are incredible! The staircases are so steep it's almost like climbing a hill!
It was a memorable and emotional visit. Being in the actual annex was truly unforgettable and made the tragedy even more affecting. Heartbreaking. Everyone should visit.
Very long waiting line and very crowded. But nothing exciting inside. Just a random canal house that are plenty in Amsterdam. Only worth for a check-in that you have been there.
80 percent of tickets sold online only at their website starting 2 months in advance for specific time slots. 20 per cent released on the day itself. Need to keep checking for availability moment by moment. Tickets disappear very quickly.
This is a must see in Amsterdam! It was a very great tour. There are no pictures allowed in Anne Franks House. We did not buy tickets online, so we waited in line for approximately 2.5/3 hours, but it was well worth it. My recommendation would be to purchase he tickets online, to save some time. There are a lot of steep stairs that you need to climb to the top of the Annex. They also offer an audio tour for free, which was great and provided the history.
I would definitely recommend visiting.
Very emotional place. Worth visiting. No photos allowed inside building. Book in advance.
Must see in Amsterdam. Dont go in the morning. Better around 3pm. No lines!
It was a nice visit to the Anne Frank House. Was crowded, but expected. The headsets helped tell her story and I enjoyed seeing the artifacts within the exhibits.
Incredible museum, audio guides were excellent, staff very helpful. Crucial that a visit is pre-booked as tickets run out fast. Parts of the museum are small and cramped so they have to necessarily limit number of people entering at any one time - book tickets as far in advance as you can.
Shocking the photos Anne placed on her bedroom wall were still on the wall.
I had heard about large queues and lots of people ruining this piece of history. with it being online only now and with it being refurbished it is a must see for Amsterdam. still a lot of people but managed through the queuing system makes it an emotional and informative place to visit.
A truly touching and very well done display. Audio tours give you the full insight into life during the second world war and walking into the secret doorway is a truly changing experience.
A visit I will never forget, well laid out and all the more poignant for being the actual location of the events the museum covers. All visitors to Amsterdam should visit here, it is a very special place.
When we got to the front of line they said it was too full so we had to wait. Meanwhile those with tickets booked online were still going in. Buy your tickets online if you have access to a printer
A very humbling experience. Museum was well done. Be sure to book your ticket online early, otherwise you will need to stand in line at 2p for first come first serve tickets.
I gave them a 1 star last time I visited in June 2018 because of horrible customer service. But me and some friends came back in January 2019 and we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the museum!
Very educational and informative experience. Good historical value.
Interesting place to visit, even for those who haven't read the book. Be prepared for lots of walking up stairs.
A very interesting experience well worth visiting while in Amsterdam. You will have to wait for your alloted time slot but the free WiFi from the generous local pancake restaurant (pass = saycheese) helps.
You need to book online and print off tickets to actually get in the building. Only downside.
It s an emotional experience well worth your time. Gives new meaning to diaries.
I am Dutch and will let you in on a dirty little secret. This is a tourist trap. The story of Anne Frank is impressive, but the Anne Frank House itself is not worth the wait. There are better things to do in Amsterdam.
Beware that you NEED to have bought your ticket a month in advance! The chances of you getting a ticket on the day is very unlikely, and will consist of you waiting outside for hours. Other than that, the whole frank house will take you exactly an hour to pass through. They did an excellent job at portraying the family history and what happened in the general WWII context.
Recommend visiting if in Amsterdam. Book tickets a day or two in advance.
I have been here twice and both times it was a sobering reminder of the atrocities committed by the Nazis in WWII. Pictures are not allowed inside.
Wanted to go here so bad. Only walked by. Next time for sure!
Update! I did go back to the Anne Frank huis. I wanted to enjoy myself but the long long lines and crowds did not help. If you feel claustrophobic in small places don't come. We actually pushed our way out of there just to breathe again. Very small place to fit all these people. Sorry to say I feel we wasted our money.
MUST SEEN in Amsterdam
This museum is really interesting
The whole story is captivating
We have a visit of the house with an audioguide
The visit and the hidden place in the house was the major part
You get a feel for how little space they had, you seems bigger than you imagine but once you've added furniture, belongings and people theres little left.
Could not imagine the fear of having to gi through this.
It's a house with great historical value, but I couldn't get to see inside. I shall try again later in the year.
